One of my favorite places to eat breakfast! Definitely didn't disappoint.....you have to get the Bennie's. I had cochan and St Charles (fried chicken). So so good. And I have to give a shout out to our server Ruby! What a delightful ambassador for NOLA! Yes Ruby works at the Ruby Slipper- she was awesome! read more

It's super busy... very lively! Food was O.K. We were a party of 5 we all had different dishes. I had the creole shrimp Bennie- it was good- not great but GOOD. My sister had the chicken and French toast bites... the chicken was cooked perfectly!! The French toast bites were okay. The service on the other hand was AMAZING!! Overall we were satisfied read more

Absolutely incredible food, coffee and service! I'm a huge breakfast person and this is one of my favorite breakfast spots yet

We ate there twice on our trip to NOLA. I had the eggs benedict and the migas (Texas egg scramble). Both dishes were delicious, tasting like home made!!! You must eat here. read more

This place was on my restaurant list for my visit to The Big Easy. So glad I went here! I very much enjoyed my visit to the Ruby Slipper Cafe. Great name for a cafe! There is more than one of these in the city. I believe there is another one on Canal Street. I meant to visit that location but instead accidentally chose this one. They were busy and there was a waitlist. I was fortunate to get a seat at the bar area. A young female bartender waited on me. She was rather warm and personable. I had an opportunity to see various entrées that wait staff was bringing to patrons while sitting at the bar. The shrimp and grist caught my eye. This happens to be a favorite dish of mine. I ordered that with a cup of coffee. The entree comes with a fresh homemade biscuit. The bartender recommended that I order a side of sausage gravy to dip my biscuit into it. There was something else she recommended that I just can't think of right now. What's important is that she made good recommendations. The food didn't take long to arrive. It was definitely to my liking. It actually exceeded my expectations. The shrimp was fresh, grits were creamy and gravy was tasty. The bartender was very attentive by seeing if I always had plenty of coffee. If I stayed longer in NOLA I would've returned here for another meal. This was one of my favorites. I recommend this place for quality Cajun and Creole brunch. Looking forward to returning here the next time I'm in The Big Easy! read more

My experience was meh. Food was bland. Biscuit was good, bacon crisp but eggs and potatoes not so much. The server was polite, slow, and somewhat inattentive. For all the hyped I was not impressed. Inside was bright, lively and noisy. read more

Great vibes. Great food. Friendly service. Our party of 4 was very satisfied with our brunch orders and we recommend highly!

My family and I were in town for the Sugar Bowl and stopped in for brunch. It was packed, but we were able to get in pretty quickly. The restaurant was clean and the food was excellent. I had the cinammon swirl pancakes and they were so fluffy and sweet. Our server, Trish, was attentive and super friendly while also sharing some stories and tips of New Orleans. Overall, the experience was excellent and I would highly recommend it to anyone who's looking for a great breakfast/brunch spot. Be sure to ask for Trish if you do stop by! read more

Ruby Slipper Decatur - Sign outside - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - New Orleans, Louisiana

I love breakfast and brunch, anytime of the day, night, no matter the season. This place was packed from open to close, there are two located a very short distance from one another, both off of the bustling Canal Street. We checked in at the one off of Decatur and that was where the dreams began. We loved it so much, we came back again two days later to sample more of their offerings. The first day, we sat at the bar, we had an amazing experience the second time in the dining room as well. Both servers were very attentive. I had the NOLA cold brew which was delicious, cold brew (a definite must based on the heat and humidity of NOLA) The cold brew was smooth, rich and mixed with milk. My husband had the same only boozy with Vodka. Day one I had the biscuits and gravy. Now, it is important to note that I love biscuits and gravy, I grew up with this warm taste of home and have very particular feelings about how this should look/taste. A lot of newer restaurants add spices that absolutely do not under any circumstances belong in cream gravy. Ruby Slipper nailed the biscuits and the gravy, which is hard to pull off. So many chefs overthink it! The biscuits were tender, flaky, fully covered in a beautiful crown of cream gravy with boulders of sausage. This was hands down the best breakfast I have had in a long time. Breakfast two brought me to the stuffed French toast, it was stuffed with apple pie filling. Definitely nice although the French toast was lacking custard flavor and was more of a campfire toast. Both were good although I could eat the biscuits and gravy every single day. My husband ordered the peace maker which gave him the benefit of choosing two Benedict's. His first was the crawfish with grit cake. It came with a fried green tomato. He cleaned his plate. Day two was shrimp and grits which definitely didn't disappoint! This place is definitely a ruby slipper and reminded me of home with biscuits and gravy! Check it out but check-in online to get on the waitlist to avoid the crowds, particularly if there is any kind of event in NOLA! read more

Ruby Slipper was referred to me by my Lyft Driver coming into NO as well as the front desk agent at my hotel AND because it had great reviews on Yelp I knew I had to go check it out.It was just a 5 minute walk from my hotel and I made sure to put my name on the waiting list via Yelp. When I arrived I checked in at the host stand and was told the bar seating was open. I already knew what I wanted and the bar attendant took my order right away. My latte arrived first which was....well, an average latte! Then my banana foster french toast came out along with a side of scrambled eggs. The eggs were okay. They weren't rich an creamy plus they got cold quick from the fan overhead. Now the french toast was good. Not the best I've ever had but good. The manager came an asked how everything was so that was nice. A nice Quant breakfast/brunch spot. Not sure if I would return as there are Sooo Many breakfast spots in the NO to try. But if I was in a pinch, an it was just as close to my hotel as this location was, I'd return. My total was $25 with tip. read more

So the fam and I were invited to a soft opening for the French Quarter location. I took a survey back in April and that qualified me and three guests to attend. The invitation included complimentary meals and drinks. Said another way, everything we ordered was completely free. We still tipped accordingly, however. WHAT WORKED? The service was great. From the hosts to our actual table server. It was very busy given that all the meals were free; it was definitely not to be missed. So the hosts told us to wait outside for a few minutes until our table was ready. Once inside we waited an additional 5 minutes tops. The interior is very similar to other locations with the ole familiar chalkboard signage throughout. The booths are very large and appeared they could accommodate up to 6 guests. We ordered the Southern Breakfast, the burger, shrimp and grits, and the classic pancakes. Let's just cut to the chase and say EVERYTHING was delicious. We were very satisfied. The pancakes were two per stack and were huge. They were light and fluffy and had a really good flavor. They were also sprinkled with powdered sugar. The syrup was good too. And that applewood bacon!! Oh my goodness, the bacon is soooo good. Not the praline bacon, although I'm curious to know what it tastes like, I'm talking just the plain bacon. Crispy, chewy and bacony. This is bacon done right. My 14-yr old son said his burger was the best he ever had. Even better than Company Burger he said. I was a tad bit insulted because I thought my burger was the best he ever had. We all agreed their fries reminded us of McDonald's, which are like you know, the best fries ever. The shrimp and grits were good. The grits were creamy and the shrimp were plump and juicy. The biscuit was huge! (said in my Alec-Baldwin-impersonating-Trump voice). It was fluffy and came with a maple-infused butter...very tasty. Now, I've had better shrimp and grits elsewhere honestly, but these were still good. My wife didn't eat her Southern Breakfast because she wasn't feeling well, but we've had it at their other locations multiple times and it's always good. So we packed that puppy up and took it home for devouring later. Ain't no shame in our game. No food left behind. WHAT DIDN'T WORK? The Arnold Palmer was weak. Not sure what's up with their Palmers. It was also like that at the Mid-City location. The flavors of the tea and lemonade just aren't strong enough. I'm also not a big fan of the French Quarter. It was 11:00 in the morning and the place wreaked. So funky. Typical stinky French Quarter. I'm sure the tourists will love it and Ruby will make hand over fist. I'll stick with the other locations, though. Please bring one to the Lakefront/Gentilly area please. read more

They do not take reservations and it is always packed, however you can put your name on the wait list and they will text you when your table is ready. Super nice staff. Amazing food! We got the biscuits and gravy with fried chicken and the apple pie Beignets. Both were great! The biscuits and gravy came with very little gravy but the waitress was able to bring over more when we asked for it. We also ordered a peach Bellini and a Bloody Mary was super spicy and amazing in taste! I highly recommend this place! read more

Definitely join the waitlist before walking over to this brunch gem! This place is worth the wait/planning. The pancakes were delicious, bananas foster french toast exquisite and the biscuits are award-worthy. Get that ruby mimosa (and another one in a to-go cup)! Highly recommend! read more

This definitely rates as one of my top 10 favorite Eggs Benedict's. It wasn't my plan to order another eggs Benny since I had one yesterday but our server highly recommended it as the Benedict's are what the restaurant is known for. I'm glad he did because they were delicious. I ordered the peacemaker in which you get to choose two egg Bennys and mix and match. The eggs were all poached perfectly, the crawfish cream sauce was slightly under seasoned but delicious nevertheless. The Bayou shrimp was nice and tender, deveined, and the fried green tomato was the perfect acidic accompaniment. The beef brisket was extremely tender and had a lot of flavor, the eggs perfectly poached, nice fluffy biscuits topped with a little bit of pickled red onions to cut through the richness of the dish. I thought the dishes would eat heavy but they didn't, the portion was just right. Our server was extremely friendly and very upbeat for 8 AM and it was much appreciated. This is our last meal before leaving New Orleans and it was definitely worth it! read more

Rating: 4.8 Stars This place is fantastic. I only had the privilege of attending once, but it was totally worth the long wait. I was here back in May of 2019. My significant other and I checked in on Yelp, and we still had to wait for a while. I understand why. The location had a fun vibe, and the food was incredible. The coffee was fresh and tasted great. As a pancake lover--with cinnamon roll pancakes being my all-time favorite food--I naturally was ecstatic to see cinnamon swirl pancakes on the menu. That is why we choose to go here. They had excellent flavor and were not too sweet. I did not even need any syrup because of the great taste. I decided to be "healthy" and substitute fresh fruit as my side. This was also a good choice. My significant other ordered the bananas foster pain perdu, and this was also an extremely tasty meal. The next time I am back in New Orleans, I am 100% coming back here! read more

Food was good. Service was average at the time but overall a great visit & good vibes

This place is amazing and extremely popular. They don't take reservations but you can put yourself on the waitlist, which I strongly suggest. It took us about 15 minutes to walk from our hotel to the restaurant and by the time we arrived, we only had to wait about 5 minutes. The first time there I had almond berry pancakes (off their Spring menu) and my husband had the berry chantilly pancakes. Both orders were huge, with 3 pancakes. Neither one of us could finish them. The service was great despite the crush of people. read more

Iconic place to eat! The seasonal lavender and lemon beignets were the best thing I ordered. Also ordered their biscuits and gravy - fairly good, but my friend's order of the fried chicken and French toast bites was significantly better. Friendly staff and good atmosphere. Our waitress was very friendly, and we had very good and fast service--we were here at a less busy time of the year (early May). The breakfast drinks were good. I had white chocolate bread pudding pancakes--super yummy and certainly a departure from anything I've seen on a menu before. But the french toast bites, which I guess are their specialty, were the BEST. We left stuffed and happy! read more

This was my favorite breakfast during my trip to New Orleans. We used Yelp to get on the wait list which was perfect because when we arrived we only had to wait a few minutes. The service was great and the food even better. I had the Bananas Foster French Toast and couldn't have been happier with my choice. It was the perfect combination of dessert and breakfast. It was such a huge portion that I couldn't even finish it all. I had bacon with it as well, I couldn't pick so I had both regular bacon and candy bacon, both cooked perfectly. I also enjoyed a huge mimosa with my meal. It was a great start to my day. read more

Excellent food and service! We ate breakfast there two mornings in a row and would have eaten there a third time but a cold blast came through and we didn't want to walk in the cold. Everything we tried on the menu was great but my favorite was The Trifecta, a combo of three different types of Eggs Benedict. A little hint: join the waitlist on line before you head over there. Love this place! 4 of us and each had something different. We come whenever in NOLA. Food, service, and ambiance always like coming home. But what was really exceptional was our waitress. My husband (like a bull in china cabinet) knocked over glasses, making big mess! Luckily missing food. Wish I could remember her name but she was wonderful about the cleanup. Left big tip to show our appreciation. Please tip people. These people work hard! read more

If you're going here definitely use the put your name on waitlist option. Small but nice place and staff is on point. You'll have to wait outside till your table is ready but once your inside the food will not disappoint. My only issue was the loaded tots. Absolutely disappointed. We waited nearly two hours and a half for a reservation that was originally quoted for an hour wait. My food was very cold, which is extremely saddening because it tasted really good. I tried really hard to be patient, but they need to make a time limit for sitting at a table after a meal is served. I saw several tables of people who had finished eating and just sitting and chatting. There were people standing outside in the rain waiting to be seated while groups were allowed to sit and chat for over an hour and a half after completing a meal. It's unfair to the servers who should be able to seat more people to get paid. The overall restaurant is clean, just a tad small which is unfortunate. I'm sure if there wasn't rain, they'd be able to sit more people. read more

What a wonderful little place to grab some great food and drinks. We ate here for breakfast today . We put ourselves on their wait list as requested and were seated ahead of our scheduled time. Points scored immediately. Our hostess and our server were super nice. We ordered drinks; Bloody Mary, Lavender Paloma and a flight of seasonal fruit mimosas. All spectacular. We then ordered the Berry Chantilly Beignets and our meals. Our entire table thoroughly enjoyed their food. And I have to admit, THE BEST Avocado Toast I have ever had at any restaurant. Ever. And believe me when I say, it's not your everyday AT. The choice of ingredients complimented each other perfectly. You'll just have to try it to see what I am talking about.
