This restaurant is a quaint little restaurant that has a great neighborhood atmosphere and is casual and comfortable. My brother recommended this place for breakfast and I can see why. My wife and I were seated right away upon arrival and our server Judit was very friendly and attentive to our needs but I could tell she was handling a lot of customers. I ordered the Bananas Foster French Toast and my wife ordered the Cinnamon Swirl Pancakes and we both got bacon and coffees. The coffee is sooo good too. Make sure you get a cup to go also. I highly recommend this restaurant and I will go back again and again

First stop in New Orleans and will always be a breakfast/brunch spot when visiting! The food was on point and the flight was fun (and tasty). The staff was friendly and gave good advice about navigating town.

It was decent - not amazing. It was very cold and noisy in the restaurant. Our server, Walter was kind and attentive. Two of us shared the following for breakfast: - Gulf Shrimp Omelet w/ Grits and Buttermilk Biscuit - Side of Tater Tots - Side of Buttermilk Biscuit The coffee was a bit weak but it was hot. The cream was fresh. The omelet was really good. The tots were cooked crispy - just how we prefer. The buttermilk biscuit was disappointing. It looked great but was tough and chewy. I would return to the Ruby Slipper but I'd eat outside. Maybe have another omelet and the pancakes. The pancakes looked real good. -

Reserve or get on the waitlist early. The place definitely gets busy. We ended up ordering online and the food still wasn't ready by the time we arrived for pickup. Got the bacon, egg and cheese biscuit and a spicy chicken biscuit. The biscuits are great and pricing is reasonable.

This is the spot you want to be for a great brunch session. They have various restaurants all over. We ordered the Trifecta, Sweet Heat Chicken and French Toast Bites, and some Irish Coffee. The Trifecta is great since it lets you taste the 3 different specialties of benedicts. The Chicken St. Charles was my favorite of the 3. The Sweet Heat Chicken was great too! It had a nice kick to the sweetness but it was not overpowering. To wash it all down, an order of Irish Coffee, which was quite strong and pretty good as well. This is a nice spot although it can get packed during peak hours. The servers were quick in getting orders and cleaning off the tables. I would recommend this place for anyone that was a good brunch experience.

Nice little spot! Glad we had a reservation because it was packed with people waiting outside. The French toast bites were the highlight of the meal! Highly recommend

Had a great meal at The Ruby Slipper Café on Decatur Street. It was very busy when we went, but the service was still excellent -- our waiter was super attentive and walked us through the menu with helpful suggestions. The food itself was delicious and absolutely worth the wait. You can make reservations, which I'd recommend, but if you end up on the walk-in list there are plenty of cute shops nearby to browse. There's also another Ruby Slipper location just a short walk away if that one has a long queue.

Shannon W.

The food here makes my taste buds sing! Ruby Slipper was SO good that my group went twice. My first order was the peacemaker Benedict with the bayou shrimp and chicken. I wished I got just the shrimp as everything was perfect from the shrimp, flavor, and on top of the the BUTTERIEST biscuits ever The second time I ordered the shrimp and grits which was also delicious! It gets busy here especially in the weekends so making a reservation is recommended!

Melissa B.

A hearty brunch sets me up for the day and this place didn't disappoint! Enjoyed the eggs couchon and a mimosa inside the quaint brunch place. Friendly and attentive staff only made everything better!

I know it's a chain restaurant, but the location was near the Aquarium, and the reviews made it a must for breakfast. We were seated immediately upon arrival and were delighted with the French toast bites for an appetizer. I had the trifecta, which is one of each of their signature egg Benedicts. My son had the Gulf shrimp omelette and grits. Both entrees were delicious. The trifecta is large and dense enough to be shared. Bar, booth, low-top casual dinner setting. Moderate noise. Clean with excellent southern service. Competitive prices. I would return.

Kyle and Misty my Waitress were both AMAZING! The food was absolutely phenomenal! Everything I ordered was a 10/10! Those pancakes were the best in the City in my opinion! I can't wait to go back! Thank you Kyle and Misty for your top tier hospitality! Do not leave New Orleans, LA, without trying Ruby Slipper on Decatur Street!

Stephanie L.

Ruby is really who she thinks she is. She's THAT GIRL. This was our last meal before our flight back home and I'm sooo glad it was because our meal was everything I needed it to be. My cousin and I shared the shrimp and grits and the benedict flight. Do yourself a favor, get both. The benny flight is called "The Trifecta" and consists of their Cochon, Chicken St Charles, and Bayou Shrimp bennies. That's braised pork, fried chicken, and shrimp in a creole sauce, sitting on the fluffiest, butteriest, biscuits. If that's not enough, each was topped with perfectly poached eggs and finished with its own signature sauce. A little dab of hot sauce on each, so yummy! The shrimp and grits in NOLA taste like no other. I didn't grow up on grits, nor can I say I love them, but the ones here were really good. Often times, they throw hella cheese on grits to add flavor but no cheese was needed for these. The texture of the grits is somewhat fluffy? Almost like mashed potatoes, with very minimal grit. The sauce and shrimp on top was divine. Again, add the hot sauce and you've got yourself a warm, cozy meal. This is served with a biscuit and honey butter and lemme tell you, ask for extra of that honey butter. TBH I even put some of it on the Cochon benny, don't judge me. That sweet & savory flavor had me dancing in my seat. Whewwww! I want to make it known - New Orleans makes the best biscuits. Period! They're very busy, and the food does take a min to come out. We had to sit at the bar because tables were full, so the bartender/server there helped us out. He was nice, funny, however when my BF asked for a straw, he picked one up off the floor to give to him. He told him, this is the only straw we have... My BF pointed at the container of straws two people down -_- Very VERY weird and gross. Other than that, he was very personable. Street parking only. They take cash, card, Apple Pay. If you stay in the FQ, it's most likely walkable. They do have multiple locations as well, so if there's one by you, highly recommend you check them out!

Came to a hot spot and found good and bad. The bad, the OJ is not freshly squeezed as advertised. Fruits were turning bad. However the Trifeca which is Eggs Benedict 3 ways was well worth it. However this is a plate for 2. I love spicy food which it stated in the menu that the Spanish omelette is, However it was not. Pass on that dish. Service was prompt. read more

I was not disappointed. I generally fear that places with a reputation such as Ruby Slipper Cafe, renowned enough to attract a waiting crowd well before the doors open, will be more hype than anything else. I also had had breakfast the day before at a local place with decent reviews which was not distinguishable from any other cheap joint in any other city, but which had the advantage of being around the block from the hotel -- showing that research into where to dine can prove not to pan out, since all of us have contributed to grade inflation. This restaurant, which has multiple venues within close proximity, was as good as its reputation, which is to say I am glad I lined up. And I even thought about placing a takeout order for lunch. But I didn't. They were too busy. I regret that, because the place I ultimately went to was only okay. I would not hesitate to come here again when I am in New Orleans. I recommend it heartily. I am an adventuresome eater. I rarely pass up biscuits and gravy though. That was on the menu. The dish being Southern, I figured this would be a good place to order it. I live in the North, and I likely have become habituated to a version of biscuits and gravy which is not as luxurious as it could be. That is the only problem. Eating from this menu on a regular basis likely would kill you, which is my only criticism about the city in general, that the cuisine is too good to be good for you. The service was not bad given how the place filled up in an instant as soon as people could be seated. I had a business Zoom to jump on, which worried me. It was no problem. That is a testament to how well run the operation is, that they get folks in, eating, and then out the door, without anyone feeling rushed. read more

I wish my experience was as great as the reviews I have read. However, my visit was lack luster. We stood outside in the July heat for a biscuit and a side portion of grits that was the serving size for an infant. My husband ordered shrimp and grits which he didn't have much to say about it. My biscuit was aS hard as a rock. Ruby Slipper should have a quality check before sending food out. I had to pry the biscuit open to even taste the bread from the inside. Disappointing to spend almost $30 bucks for breakfast and and leave still hungry. Following day I found Streetcar Cafe, tender biscuits and a real serving of grits that were not watered down, but creamy. read more

This was by far our favorite spot we ate at in NOLA. Recommendation: Add yourself to the waitlist using Yelp. This place is always packed. Food: The food was absolutely amazing. We had the Southern Breakfast which had the best biscuit I have ever had. We also got the BLT which had a fried green tomatoes which is also amazing. We had the NOLA style iced coffee which was very strong. If you don't like strong coffee then I would not recommend it. Service: Excellent. When it comes to breakfast and brunch spots in New Orleans, The Ruby Slipper on 204 Decatur is a true standout. As someone who has had their fair share of eggs benedicts, I can confidently say that this charming establishment delivers a dining experience that is nothing short of extraordinary. One of the highlights at The Ruby Slipper is their exceptional eggs benedicts. In particular, the Trifecta featuring three different variations of this classic dish left me in awe. Each benedict surpassed the last in terms of flavor and execution. The pièce de résistance was undoubtedly the perfect hollandaise sauce that graced each of the eggs. Its velvety texture and rich flavor elevated every bite to new heights of indulgence. But let's talk about the seafood. The Gulf shrimp benedict showcased the freshest, most succulent shrimp I have ever tasted. Their natural sweetness shone through, perfectly complementing the other components of the dish. And the fried chicken benedict? Well, the crispy chicken atop the benedict was a revelation. Its golden exterior gave way to juicy and tender meat, adding a delightful twist to this breakfast classic. What truly sets The Ruby Slipper apart is their unparalleled execution and ability to weave a captivating culinary tale through their dishes. The attention to detail is evident in every bite. The sauce accompanying the benedicts was flawlessly emulsified, striking the perfect balance of richness and tanginess. And let's not forget about the poached eggs--the yolks were a work of art, boasting an impeccable "jammy" consistency that added an extra layer of decadence. During my visit, my wife had the fried chicken and French toast dish. This creation showcased the restaurant's creativity and culinary prowess. The execution was flawless, and the French toast had a unique twist reminiscent of panzanella or French toast croutons. It was a delightful departure from the ordinary, leaving a lasting impression on our palates. The Ruby Slipper not only excels in culinary innovation but also provides impeccable service. The staff's attention to detail and genuine passion for their craft is evident from the moment you step through the door. The servers are knowledgeable, friendly, and go above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. If you find yourself in the vibrant city of New Orleans, a visit to The Ruby Slipper is an absolute must. This gem of a restaurant seamlessly combines creativity, flawless execution, and exceptional service. Whether you're a local or a visitor, The Ruby Slipper is sure to leave an indelible mark on your culinary journey. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. read more

Title: A Culinary Gem with a Dash of Quirk: Ruby Slipper Cafe Review Nestled in the heart of New Orleans , Louisiana the Ruby Slipper Cafe offers a tantalizing fusion of flavors and a memorable dining experience that captures the essence of Southern cuisine. During a recent visit, I had the pleasure of indulging in their renowned biscuits and gravy, a dish that left an indelible mark on my taste buds. The biscuits and gravy at Ruby Slipper Cafe are a triumph of culinary artistry. The biscuits, baked to perfection, boasted a delicate balance of flakiness and tenderness. Paired with a rich and flavorful gravy that was a symphony of savory notes, this dish provided a hearty and comforting culinary encounter. The marriage of textures and taste was a true testament to the kitchen's dedication to quality and creativity. While the cuisine was undeniably a highlight, the service left something to be desired. Our waiter, regrettably, fell short of delivering the kind of attentive and polished service one might expect from an establishment of this caliber. However, amidst this minor setback, a shining star emerged in the form of Brian, a dishwasher with an infectious sense of humor. His presence injected a delightful touch of levity into the dining experience, turning what could have been a lackluster encounter into an unforgettable one. Brian's wit and charm resonated with patrons and provided a refreshing and unexpected layer of entertainment. In summary, the Ruby Slipper Cafe exudes an undeniable charm with its delectable dishes and quirky personalities. While the waiter's service left room for improvement, the true gem of the visit was the culinary artistry that graced our table. Furthermore, the unexpected joy brought forth by dishwasher Brian added an unexpected and memorable twist to our dining adventure. For those seeking a blend of Southern comfort food and a touch of lighthearted amusement, the Ruby Slipper Cafe is a destination well worth exploring. read more

As a devoted fan of the Ruby family, my expectations were sky-high when I stepped into the Ruby Slipper Cafe in New Orleans after my delightful experiences at their sister restaurant, Ruby Sunrise in Charleston, SC. I'm thrilled to report that the Ruby Slipper not only met but exceeded those expectations, firmly establishing itself as a #ThatBrunchLife essential. From the moment I walked in, the warmth of Southern hospitality enveloped me. The staff greeted me with genuine smiles and an eagerness to make my dining experience memorable. The atmosphere was a cozy embrace, with a vibrant yet comforting decor that paid homage to the soul of New Orleans. The menu was a love letter to Southern cuisine with an innovative twist. Each dish I tried was a masterpiece, but the standout was their signature Eggs Cochon - a decadent masterpiece of slow-cooked apple-braised pork debris over a biscuit, topped with perfectly poached eggs and hollandaise. It was a symphony of flavors that danced harmoniously on the palate. Comparing it to Ruby Sunrise in Charleston, where the shrimp and grits reign supreme, the Ruby Slipper holds its own with distinctive flair and an unmistakable New Orleans charm. It's clear that both establishments share a commitment to quality, flavor, and an unforgettable dining experience. In every aspect, from the attentive service to the mouthwatering cuisine, the Ruby Slipper Cafe is a beacon of #ThatBrunchLife and Southern hospitality. Whether you're a local or just passing through, missing out on this gem would be a culinary crime. The Ruby Slipper isn't just a restaurant; it's a celebration of the spirit of the South, and I can't wait to return. read more

While visiting the Big Easy during Mardi Gras, I was in the mood for brunch. After visiting the Ruby Slipper a couple of times, knew it was time to go back. The Decatur location was closest to me & glad I went. There was a line & I was greeted at the host stand by Stanley. Stanley gladly took my name but I asked if there happen to be a spot at the bar for just one. He turned around & told me to wait a couple of minutes as he cleared me a spot. Sat me down quick with a smile. Was immediately acknowledged by one of the bartenders saying they would be right with me. Kelli & Jaylynn were working that day. Started my day with an Irish coffee & it truly hit the spot. It did take a moment for me to decide, but didn't feel rushed. Yes, Kelli & Jaylynn checked on me, but only to see if I was ready & encouraged me to take my time. After a couple of moment, I chose the southern breakfast. It was the fried green tomato that sold me. Yes, it was simple, but extremely satisfying. And, that fried green tomato, was better than expected. The service at The Ruby Slipper was outstanding. Our waiter, a terrific young gentleman, was attentive, professional, and stayed on his toes to make sure we had everything we needed. The decor was true to the restaurant's name--fun, vibrant, and welcoming. Other patrons were also very friendly, adding to the warm atmosphere. As for the food, I really enjoyed the Chicken Benedict--it was flavorful and satisfying. However, the Shrimp Benedict was a bit of a letdown, as it only came with three small shrimp, which felt underwhelming. My friend ordered the Salmon Omelette with grits and a biscuit, and they said it was absolutely delicious. Here's how we rated the dishes: Chicken Biscuit: 9/10 Shrimp Biscuit: 6/10 Salmon Omelette Plate: 9/10 Overall, while the service and ambiance were great, the menu didn't quite match my personal preferences--mainly because I don't eat pork, and I found the non-pork options somewhat limited. That said, I believe The Ruby Slipper has a lot of potential for those who enjoy its Southern-style offerings. read more

I recently dined at Ruby Slipper and I have to say, it was a fantastic experience. Although the food preparation took a while, the wait was well worth it as the food was absolutely delicious. From the appetizers to the entrees, every dish was bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. I would highly recommend the food here. While the drinks were average, they were advertised as award-winning and amazing, which was a bit disappointing. However, this was a minor setback in an otherwise great dining experience. I was impressed with how easy it was to make a reservation and while the waitlist said it would be an hour, I only had to wait 30 minutes before being seated. The staff was nice and attentive, making sure my dining experience was enjoyable. The ambiance of the restaurant was also great - it had a comfortable and inviting atmosphere that was perfect for a relaxing meal. Ruby Slipper on Decatur Street is a fantastic spot for a hearty, Southern-inspired breakfast or brunch. The warm, lively atmosphere immediately sets the tone for a great dining experience, and the menu is full of indulgent options that showcase New Orleans flair. I came to New Orleans for a quick trip and was craving a good breakfast. After seeing glowing reviews on Yelp, TikTok, and hearing personal recommendations, I thought Ruby Slipper would be a great choice. However, I have to say, I was left a bit underwhelmed. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the diverse dining scene in Houston, but Ruby Slipper felt extremely basic and average. We ordered several things off the menu, and honestly, nothing really stood out. There was nothing particularly unique or memorable about any of the dishes we tried. It was all fine, but not impressive by any means. If you're in the mood for a quick, no-frills breakfast, Ruby Slipper could work, but there are definitely better and more unique breakfast spots around New Orleans that I'd recommend exploring. The food here just didn't offer anything special to make it stand out in a city known for its incredible food scene. read more

Ruby Slipper is a cute and cozy brunch spot with a Creole fusion twist, and overall, it was a great experience! I started with a creamy vanilla latte topped with nutmeg and whipped cream, which was delicious--just a bit sweeter than I usually prefer, but still really well made. For my main dish, I had the French toast with fried chicken, strawberries, and maple syrup. The flavors worked beautifully together, but it was definitely a heavy dish, and I wish there had been something like whipped cream or a light topping to balance it out. We also tried the catfish with grits, which was another solid choice. Overall, Ruby Slipper is a great spot for brunch, but just know that the dishes lean toward the rich and indulgent side. The Ruby Slipper Cafe is a breakfast and lunch spot in the heart of downtown. They have amazing food and fast service, so you can't go wrong with this place! They serve everything from omelets to waffles, and they're all made fresh right in front of you. The coffee is great as well--they use beans from local roasters, which makes it even more special. The food is very filling, so I recommend ordering one of their sandwiches or salads if you're looking for something lighter. But if you want something that will fill up your entire stomach, then this is definitely the place for you! The only downside? If you're coming here during peak hours (between 8am and 10am), expect to wait for at least 15 minutes before being seated. It's worth it though--the food is worth it! read more

But the food & vibe legit slaps!! They killed it, hands down. I had a pistachio hot latte & the Seafood Benedict. My food came out hot & fresh before my latte did. The Seafood Benedict came with some bomb cheesy, butter grits. I will admit the latte was good but i didnt taste any pistachio, but it's cool- id just ask for more next time, not something major that i'd straight up dock a star for. I thought I was legit gonna need the Tabasco because, guys, let's be real- hollindaise can be a little underwhelming from place to place. But the put love in there from the creamy hollindaise to the fluffy, golden biscuit it all sits on. Best part? It didn't have no pork on it! you follow me & my reveiws ya'll know i don't do anybody's pig anything. *chef kiss* The outta line for giving this portion size. I'm tryna eat a little here & there- they filled butt up. Lol i see how it is!! Service, service, service. Jen was my server. She took really good care of me. For a tiny hole in the wall- I can't say I've had better. (It gave chickfila vibes.) Super pleasant, energetic vibes, the place legit caters to families, familes with small children, large groups. All of thoose where in there when I was in there. I had no complaints. A++++

The French Quarter has no shortage of breakfast spots that feel like they're running a tourist…read moreassembly line. French Toast on Decatur Street is the opposite. It's warm and a little loud, and you feel welcome before you sit down. Start with the vibe, because it's half the meal. The kitchen is open, and the cooks work right in front of you. During my visit they were laughing, trading jokes and calling out plates like a crew that likes each other. That energy carries to the table. Service was friendly and unhurried, with no rushing, no attitude and no sense that you were holding up the line. In a neighborhood where a lot of places run on autopilot, that matters. The food backs it up. The French toast comes as a thick, golden block of house-made bread, soaked through and caramelized on the outside. Mine was topped with glazed fruit, toasted nuts and a dusting of powdered sugar, and it held together all the way down. The King Cake version is the one to order. It's a thick slab filled with cinnamon cream cheese and finished with purple, green and gold sugar. It's a New Orleans joke told with real skill, and it tastes like Carnival season whatever the month. Everything here is made in house, from the breads and biscuits to the jams, custards and curds, and you can taste the difference. The savory side of the menu is just as good, and there's a full bar if brunch calls for a drink. The room is cozy, and the brick patio out front is dog-friendly. Prices are fair for the Quarter and the portions are generous. They open at 8 and close at 3, so there's no excuse to miss it.

As soon as we walked in everyone that walked by us, acknowledged us. My friend and I shared a stuffed French toast and a savory crêpe. It just created such a wholesome fun environment. I will say I was sad when I went by the next day and they were closed unexpectedly. I really wanted another cold brew, but thanks again!

Up&Adam, NOLA! Somebody Come Roll Me Back to the Hotel!…read more Let's talk about it! At this point, I have officially lost count of how many times I've been to Up&Adam in New Orleans. And clearly, there's a reason I keep coming back! This time, it was me, my sister, and my two daughters, and baby, when I tell you I'm sitting here wondering who is going to roll me back to the hotel, I am NOT exaggerating! First, let's talk about the seating. We decided to sit outside, and I was pleasantly surprised to see they now have umbrellas! The last time I visited, they didn't have any, and although it was comfortable, that New Orleans heat was still doing its thing. This time, those umbrellas were definitely a must! Between the shade and that beautiful breeze, it was just perfect. Such a nice, quaint little atmosphere. Now, let's get into these MIMOSAS! The last time I was here, I couldn't decide which flavor I wanted, so of course I had to try more than one. This time, we decided to order a carafe for the table so everyone could enjoy. Delicious, as always! Now the FOOD! The food, the food, THE FOOD! I don't care how many times I come here or what I order, they just don't disappoint! One thing about me, I HAVE to get that Tchoupitoulas sauce! If it doesn't come with my meal, I'm ordering it on the side. That's how serious I am about it! This time, I decided to go with the French toast and scrambled eggs. Let me tell you, that French toast was AMAZING! Absolutely delicious! But apparently, that wasn't enough for my greedy self because I also decided I needed some cheesy grits. And let me tell you something, when you can eat grits with cheese and don't have to add a single bit of seasoning, YOU KNOW those grits are good! And these were freaking delicious! Now, as for everyone else, one of my daughters ordered the French Market Sandwich, and my sister went with the Uptown Adam Breakfast. My other daughter ordered the same thing I did, except she went with turkey sausage. Me? Oh no, I needed ALL my bacon! We all had something we enjoyed, and trust me, nobody was complaining! Listen, if you're ever in New Orleans, please do yourself a favor and stop by Up&Adam. It's a nice, quaint spot with a welcoming atmosphere and some seriously delicious food. And what I appreciate most is the consistency. I've been here more times than I can count, and the food never disappoints. Now, if somebody could just come get me and roll me back to my hotel, I'd greatly appreciate it because clearly, I have eaten enough for the rest of the day! Up&Adam, you already know I'll be back!

Arielle is personable and welcoming. Really helpful and informative…read more Fire crab bites (6) pieces. $10 They come out piping hot. Nice crunchy crust with a small creamy center. They look small but they pack a bunch of flavor. It comes with a mayo based dipping sauce that has a little bite to it. Tchoup Bowl $14 Nice deep fried diced potato covered in a rich crawfish cream sauce topped with cheese and an egg. I added bacon for $2. The menu says scrambled eggs but you can get it anyway you want. Good start in the Morning. I find it funny (in a good way) that they ask if you want chives on top. 2 gender neutral restroom located in the center of the main dining room. The bathroom doors open into the dining room. The restroom is clean and spacious, they have a medical sharp container. Note: they impose a 18% automatic gratuity. I also think there is a 3% Credit Card charge.
