Ruby Slipper is an iconic spot in New Orleans for a kick ass brunch. And they live up to it! Did you know there are several throughout the downtown area? Pretty much all within walking distance? Just a little FYI, before you wait in an hour plus line...we were seated immediately with a lovely waitress who grabbed coffee and juice for us right away. I ordered the fried green tomato benedict. It was so yummy. And the best part? It was served on a biscuit instead of an english muffin. So much easier to cut! My friend ordered the breakfast tacos and they also looked fresh and delicious. In and out just in time for our meetings, and the server also asked if we wanted coffee to go, which was a nice touch. read more

With reservations, there was a wait to be seated. After waiting an additional 30 minutes we were seated at the bar. The hostess didn't ask for our seating preference and when we asked if we could sit at a table she explained it would be a further wait. I was out of town and visiting New Orleans and several people recommended their brunch. I was unimpressed at the quality of the food (taste, seasoning etc). I have this restaurant three stars because their drinks were unique and pretty good. read more

Ruby Slipper Decatur - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - New Orleans, Louisiana

Food was good and quick. Sunday brunch they were very busy. Short wait when checking in online before arriving only had to wait about 15 minutes once we checked in. Small venue felt a little crowded where we were seated people had to squish to get around but otherwise positive experience. Had the cinnamon swirl pancakes very sweet! Partner had the peacemaker two your choice eggs Benedict very tasty. Split a seasonal beignet starter the lemon curd was AMAZING! Definitely recommend. read more

I went 2 different days. Saturday food and service was top notch. The mimosa flight was garbage as all 3 of us left them. When we came back Monday it was like a whole new restaurant. Food, service and atmosphere went downhill. 5 stars for Saturday and 2 stars for Monday read more

This place was delicious! I ordered the shrimp & grits. AHHMaazzZinG!!!! I mean the flavors all meshed and melted together! !! ...I guess our "appetizer" was fresh homemade biscuits w/honey butter!! NO COMPLAINTS at all..!! Except I just couldn't stop eating them!!! LOL.. OMG!!! Delicious!! Lastly, the hospitality was phenomenal. From the hostess to the waitress to the busboy, all were welcoming, attentive & friendly!! Great food with even greater people! Must try! read more

This is my second visit at a different location and I still enjoyed it! Service is great, food is great. Although if you've tried their fried grit cake you would wish you could order it on its own but you can't!! I asked (begged) and they said no. Sigh. Anyways everyone in my party enjoyed their meals. I'll be back for sure read more

Ruby Slipper Decatur - Biscuits & Gravy - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - New Orleans, Louisiana

Went for brunch around 11am and was shocked by the short wait! Our party of 4 was greeted by Kaylee who was as sweet as can be(as was as her trainee Jennifer who I'm sure will be just as good for business). After a quick 10 minute wait we were sat Roni who was just as good as the Cochon Benedict. Wish I could give more than 5 stars. Highly recommend! read more

Absolutely delicious, a must do every time we visit NOLA. They have a nice selection of food options.

They proudly use fresh, seasonal and local products whenever possible. Cinnamon swirl, bacon praline pancakes with an egg on the side. Irish cream coffee Was so well worth the hour wait. Totally recommend this breakfast place. read more

Cheap, delicious food. Loved the option to scan not only the menu but also the method of payment. Making everything so easy and safe. Tables were wiped down between guest which I observed. Was seated fast. No complaints . Ordered the French toast bites and hit chicken. Delicious read more

Wow!! What an amazing restaurant. After joining the waitlist, we checked in with Kayleigh, at the door. She was excellent at her job. She was warm, welcoming and so calm with so many people wanting to get in to the place. Our server, Ronnie, was great too. She shared the history of why it's name The Ruby Cafe. I will let you find out on your own. It was the start of Mardi Gras season so they had some specials. We splurged and got an order of seasonal beignets (these beignets were served warm with blueberry compote, lemon curd and whipped cream) to share. They were incredible! Oh ya, we began our meal with yummy spicy bloody Mary's. Upon a recommendation from my friend, Leah, I ordered the shrimp & grits. They came with the best homemade biscuit I ever had. This meal was super scrumptious with a variety of delicious spices and textures bursting in my mouth. So glad I got this. My husband order the Trifecta and also enjoyed his meal immensely. I give the Ruby Cafe 5 stars for sure. read more

We waited 50 minutes to get a table after being on the online waitlist for 60 minutes! We ordered the two-tomato egg Benedict, the French toast appetizer, breakfast tacos, and the breakfast omelette with chicken sausage (it came out with shrimp instead of the sausage). Positive points because our waiter was caring, and the virgin Bloody Mary was tasty. Otherwise.... this is just an overrated restaurant that pulls tourists in with the INSANE line outside. read more

Went here on Saturday and it was one of the best brunch meals I've ever had. Everything was just fantastic and the food came out in 15 minutes! Had the trifecta and French toast bites, just amazing. The biscuits themselves were the best I've ever had, dense yet fluffy. Came back again on Sunday and it was like a completely different restaurant. Took 40 minutes to get our food and everything tasted completely blah compared to the day before. Little things like putting enough remoulade or pork Tasso sauce were missed. The pork itself didn't taste as flavorful as the day before. The chicken breast was unseasoned and didn't have any sauce to make up for it. The biscuits were hard and difficult to chew through. The fries were soggy! Asked the waitress and she confirmed it was a different cooking crew on Saturday and Sunday, so would recommend going on Saturdays. Advice to owner to find a new Sunday crew. read more

They had some of the strongest mimosas I've ever had and the food was great the biscuit and gravy was seasoned which is rare and the French toast bites were good although they look like croutons lol the seasonal beignets were so good read more

Visited here while on vacation. Everything my family ordered tasted amazing. Best biscuit I've ever had in my life! Small downside is the parking lot is very small, may be hard for you to find a parking spot. read more

First and foremost: get on The Waitlist. It will make it much easier for you as there will be a crowd. Also take a seat at a table, as the bar can get crowded and tends to be less likely to let you have a relaxing brunch. We ordered the Trifecta and all was good just a little different with the shrimp on a green tomato. Good but not a typical breakfast food. We split the plate with an added biscuit and fruit cup. Pretty savory so we should have gone with a sweet but it was good. We also got the Ruby mimosa and it was a great pour. Topped it off with an Irish coffee to go and my morning was set. read more

Amazing brunch spot. There are multiple locations in the city, and I imagine them to be all amazing. I chose this one seeing how popular all of them are and this one had the least reviews. Chose right! We came in around 10:30 am and got seated immediately. Shortly after, there was a huge line! Decor: So adorable! Everything feels homey with colorful font and bubbly drawn pictures of special item foods on blackboards. They even had a whole Mardi Gras menu during this time! Food: Everything on the menu sounded amazing. As orders of food to the left and right of us started appearing, I started to salivate. I ended up with the Costa Rican and the BF with BBQ shrimp & grits. Everything was perfectly seasoned and delicious. The biscuit that came with the shrimp & grits was freaking huge but super moist (that doesn't happen??) and it came with this brown sugar spread. I wish we had a place like this in every city we went to. It was such a nice way to start the morning! read more

This is a great spot for breakfast/brunch. The food is good with a lot of local and regional flare incorporated into the offerings. They have great drink options and an array of Benedict's, omelets and biscuit dishes. They have options for the little ones as well. The service was pretty good and they tend to get pretty busy. read more

Our server Alejandro was awesome! He was attentive and had great suggestions on what to order, just a super chill vibe to the restaurant. The food was out of this world delicious! Ruby Slipper Decatur - Bloody Mary, Bayou Shrimp, The Peacemaker (Eggs Cochon + Chicken St Charles) - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - New Orleans, Louisiana

Let's start off by saying we waited an hour and 10 minutes to eat here. The host was clueless, he was all over the place and some tables were ready for 20 min and he forgot to text people - unacceptable! We approached him twice and after speaking to a female hostess she sat us down right away (an outside table that was empty for close to 15 min). Once seated, we ordered the boozy ice coffee, candied bacon, eggs concho and stuffed French toast. The food was good overall and we definitely enjoyed the candied bacon and the eggs concho. Our server was sweet but didn't know the menu well (she said she just started) so when we asked what's inside the French toast she said only cheesecake. I even asked if there is anything else on it, she said no. When it arrived there was strawberry jam in the middle (my partner doesn't eat berries), so we had to send it back. The food was great overall but service could be a lot better, especially when people wait for hours for a table. Had to update from a 3 to a 4 star. We came here on a Sunday morning at 8:30 am and the host was a lot more organized (maybe since there was a lot less people) and with a reservation we were seates within 15 min. The food was great. We ordered shrimp and grits, candied bacon, the peacemaker Benedict (cochino and corned beef) and French toast bites. Everythinh was delicious except the corned beef (was not a fan). Shrimp and grits were realllyyy good and so was the French toast bites. Highly recommend both! read more

This is surely the place to be, people lined up and I'm upset I didn't get to try a different meal. I had the pacemaker because I couldn't decide on 1 benedict lol. Food was amazing. The service was great. Our server Taylor was awesome! She was attentive and very knowledgeable. She had great suggestions.

May I start off by saying my FAVORITE item on the menu was the french toast bites with praline sauce!!! They come as an appetizer, but I could have eaten them alone and been thrilled! We went to check out The Ruby Slipper on a Tuesday, so our wait to get in wasn't very long. Perhaps 30 minutes. While waiting to get inside one of the hostesses offers to get you a drink. Coffee, mimosas, tea, etc. Yes, you have to pay. Once inside expect a noisy diner vibe. Seating is plentiful. We were placed at the bar due to it just being the two of us. Larger groups got the tables. Breakfast is definitely tasty. I ordered the "traditional southern breakfast" - Grits, eggs, bacon, and biscuits with jelly. I would go back again. On a side note HAVE PROOF OF VACCINATION, or you won't be allowed in. read more

I added myself +1 to The Ruby Slipper's waitlist through the Yelp feature. We arrived and checked in with the hostesses and they said they would send me a text when our table was ready. I checked back with the hostess after not receiving a text about our table and they said they texted me at the phone number I provided. I told them I never received a text and to please not place me back at the end of their waitlist, and they said there was nothing they could do. I then asked for a manager who apologized and said he'd give us the next available table. Despite this issue with the hostesses, the food wash fresh and delicious and the Vanilla Spiced Latte was warm and yummy! Our waitress was attentive and pleasant. read more

Ruby Slipper Decatur - Their House Special Bananas Foster Pain Perdu. - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - New Orleans, Louisiana

Popular place but unfortunately a miss for me. I ordered the Costa Rican and they completely left off the chorizo sausage for my order. The plantains were more like banana chips and the rice and beans weren't good at all. My mom ordered chicken and French toast bites. She enjoyed her food but said she needed more sauce and could do without the potatoes. We both had the ruby mimosa. It was alright. I was turned off by the foggy plastic glasses that looked like they've been overused and washed one too many times. Flies were all over the bar area and open buckets of purée and juice at the bar added to the unsanitary issue. Bartenders were also refilling alcohol bottles and juice bottles. Would not return. read more

Friendly staff and delicious coffee. The food itself was ok. A little too much hype if u ask me and some ingredients added were too much in my opinion for my taste. The wait time to me is too long, however the waitlist option on yelp is fantastic!!!! We took advantage and reserved our spot at a further location and walked our wait. It's a franchise and this particular location had no area to wait which was a downside. It was good but not worth an hour wait for sure. read more

Stopped by on my way back to the hotel. I didn't realize this business has several locations in the immediate area. I went to the one in the French Quarter. The two hosts were very friendly and did a wonderful job of keeping folks informed. It was an extremely busy day and the place was packed! I sat at the bar and the young lady who took my order was also friendly and very efficient. She made my day when she asked "what are you having my baby?" For some reason I love hearing that from the locals. It's soo much better than "Miss" or "Ma'am." I ordered the french toast. Everything was pretty good. Definitely recommend if you're looking for typical American breakfast/brunch fare. read more
