I'd rate is a 3.5. The wait is long but that's to be expected in this area. The hostesses weren't friendly but far from rude so I'm okay with that. We were told a 40-50 minute wait and they'd text when the table was ready. The wait was a bit longer which was okay, but when we got the text the table was ready we still waited an additional 10 minutes before we were actually sat. The food is appropriately priced for the location and quality. The French toast is good but I wasn't a fan of the bacon. We also ordered the chicken and French toast bites, the bites were a bit hard compared to the soft French toast slices but the chicken was good. The fries were bland and cold, and the hot chocolate is actually just warmed chocolate milk so it didn't have the richness of regular hot chocolate. The biscuits are large and come with a cane sugar butter that was okay, I would have preferred regular butter but it's nice to try. The service was fine and the food came out fast. $50 for an order of French toast, chicken and French toast bites, a side of fries, 2 biscuits, 2 hot chocolates, and an iced tea. Well priced. read more

Not sure what the hype is. The food is just OK. Service is good. Restaurant is way too small for a group of six. We waited over an hour on a Wednesday morning and we're crammed into a booth. read more

Came here for brunch on our last day in NOLA. I had heard some mixed reviews for Ruby Slipper: some friends said it was a must, but our uber driver thought it was an overrated chain. We personally LOVED it. TIP: Make sure that you check in on Yelp or get there early, because there seems to always be a line. FOOD Chicken St. Charles: 5/5 THIS. Omg. Hands down THE BEST BENEDICT I have ever had. THE. BEST. Idk what it is (probably the combination of fried chicken and eggs benedict, two things that can never go wrong), but this just tasted amazing. I particularly loved that the sauce had bits of meat in it, so the dish just came together so well. Bananas Foster French Toast: 4/5 This was delicious, as you really can't go wrong with bananas foster, but it was a little too sweet in my opinion - I know, is that even possible?? It is apparently...the caramel mixed with the raisins, an already really sweet thing, was just a little too overpowering for me. I wish that there was some sort of cream or something to cut through all that sugar. AMBIENCE Ruby Slipper is most definitely a diner. Everything is very casual and slightly old-school, so think booths and black/white checkered tiles. Great for a chill meal with friends, but nothing more. SERVICE Our waitress was really great! We were in a bit of a rush to catch a flight and she made sure that we were in and out of there super quickly. The one thing I will say is that I checked in on Yelp to jump in the line and even had to wait ~25 mins to get a table, so be prepared. Worth it though! read more

The food is absolutely amazing. The service is most definitely commendable. As a tourist I prefer to eat out doors to enjoy the New Orleans scenery. I rated this place 4 stars because the lines is always out the door but it's still worth the wait read more

Okay, for real this was one of my favorite spots since I've been here. I started with an excellent cup of coffee and it just got better from there. I order the 3 pig omelet - sausage, applewood bacon and ham with Swiss cheese.OMG!! To die for! I selected fruit as my side and the strawberries, pineapple, melon were fresh (could have done without the grapes) and were the perfect side to go with my omelet. Let's talk about the humongous freshly made biscuit with the cane sugar butter. I swear I thought I hit the jackpot!!! But what really put me over the top was the rosemary potatoes!! My photo doesn't reflect the potatoes because I took them off of my son's plate but TRUST ME....well worth you ordering a side dish of those!! Giving this establishment a golden star along with my 5 star rating. Can't wait to go back! read more

I was really excited to try this place as the line was literally out the door. It's right on Canal street so it understandable gets a ton of people. Make a reservation via yelp or by calling. The pros: the venue was clean and welcoming and the servers were polite and friendly. That's about it. The cons: I was surprised to have something that was under seasoned and bland in an amazing culinary city like New Orleans. Someone working there (I intentionally won't mention their name) asked how i like my breakfast and i was frank with them and said, honestly, it's below average. They quietly agreed. Maybe there are other good menu items here, but this wasn't it. But there's definitely GREAT fried chicken to be found elsewhere in NOLA. read more

We had the pleasure of dining at Ruby Slipper Cafe and were lucky enough to be served by the amazing Travis. From the moment we sat down, Travis had us laughing with his witty humor and infectious energy. His excellent service didn't stop there, as he was attentive, knowledgeable, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. In addition to being an outstanding waiter, Travis truly made our dining experience unforgettable with their fun and lively personality. He went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time and left with smiles on our faces. Additionally, the real star of the show was the food. This cafe offers a variety of classic brunch dishes with a modern twist, and everything looked absolutely delicious. I'm vegetarian so I ended up with berry chantilly pancakes and house potatoes. The fluffy and light pancakes were filled with blueberries and topped with strawberries with just the right amount of whipped butter that syrup was not needed. To wash it all down, I enjoyed a perfectly crafted peach Bellini, which was sweet and refreshing with just the right amount of peach purée. I highly recommend eating here and, most importantly, asking for Travis for anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable dining experience. Thank you, Travis and KK, for making our brunch so much fun! We can't wait to come back and see you again soon!!! P.S. make sure to try and make a reservation because this brunch spot is busy and rightfully so! read more

The hostess and waitresses were so sweet and welcoming. I mean everyone that works here has such a respectful, fun personality. The food was phenomenal. Didn't take pictures of the other stuff lol... we all dug in. The grits had such a creamy savory taste. Very pleased! I peaked inside the bar and everything was super clean and organized. Bartender continuously washed her hands too. No mask required to get in and staff did not have a mask on. Every time a table opens up, they clean and disinfect them immediately. Highly recommend getting on the waitlist online, it'll speed the waiting process. Place has a line outside! Wonderful first time experience, specially after flying in and having an appetite early morning. Loved it! Atmosphere, customer service and food. read more

During our trip, we took many pedicabs, and we asked every single driver, "Where is the best place to eat around here?" They almost always responded with "The Ruby Slipper Cafe" We decided to try it out, we got put on a waitlist (which connected to my yelp and surprised me) I thought that was awesome. The wait was about 30 mintues, when I got notified to return, we got seated at the bar and were impressed with the menu, It and had lots of variety. The server at the bar helped us decide on the flight of Pancakes and Benedicts. We loved the pancakes, they were big and beautiful! Tasty and filling for sure. The benedicts on the other hand, were good, the toppings on them were great, the actual biscuits themselves were a little too dry/stale for my taste. (even when they were soaked in the sauces from the toppings.) They took up most of the plate on this dish. The coffee was good here. I would definitely recommend this place to others, I just wouldn't wait the hour plus for it or get the benedicts. Unless you found some shops nearby and weren't super hungry right away. read more

A must visit breakfast spot in NOLA! Be sure to arrive as soon as they open to avoid the long lines. A line starts to form around 8:30am. The customer service was excellent, and the waitress made our experience a wonderful one! She recommended both menu and drink items. There's SO many mouthwatering options to choose from; however, I went with the Bananas Fosters French Toast. Let's just say that it will leave you scrapping your plate for more! This place has great ambience and good coffee options. It is known for its breakfast cocktails, which I didn't try but looked good in my neighbors table. My reason for the low rating was due to their Gallo Pinto, or Costa Rican breakfast. I got it as I love gallo pinto and was excited to see crispy fried plantains. Unfortunately, the plantains came out undercooked and not crispy. I mentioned it to the server who tried to get me fresh ones, but they came out undercooked again. I don't think the chef knows how to cook plantains correctly. I would take it off the menu if it cannot be executed correctly. Also, it's a sin to serve gallo pinto without the Tico condiment Salsa Lizano.... look into it read more

This was my first time coming but definitely not my last when I joined two friends of mine for brunch at The Rubber Slipper Cafe. This particular location had wonderful decor, great service and even though the wait was about 45 mins, it was worth it. I had The Southern Breakfast which included scrambled eggs with cheese, cheese grits, bacon a biscuit and fried green tomatoes which are my true weakness. The grits were creamy and filling, the eggs were cooked perfectly, the bacon could've been a little harder (but that's more of a preference), and the fried green tomatoes were to die for. I also tried the Grapefruit Ruby Slipper which is the perfect brunch drink. Our server was really patient and managed to get all of our needs taken care of. At the end of our dining experience, he handed us our check and an iPad and we all were able to pay for our food separately. I really liked the technology of that. Very cool! As far as parking, I found a paid lot around the corner after dropping off my friends. Having used the Yelp waitlist app, they were able to give my name and we were already in line. read more

When I was on my first visit to New Orleans I was told that this place was a great location for breakfast. I think we avoided it because we were concerned about long lines. This time we walked over and found there was NO LINE. What a break! This was about 8a-8:30a. We were served by Taylor B. She was wonderful. She made our 1st visit very enjoyable. I had the Southern Breakfast my first time: Two eggs any style, stone-ground grits, Applewood-smoked bacon, fried green tomato with a buttermilk biscuit. Man, this was some good stuff! As we were leaving, we noticed that a crowd was beginning to form. Our timing couldn't have been better. We where getting out just as folks were coming through. On our second visit I had the 3 Little Pigs Omelet Applewood-smoked bacon, ham and sausage with Swiss cheese, served with grits and a buttermilk biscuit along with an orange juice. The 2nd meal was just as wonderful as the 1st one. Shout out to this great breakfast / brunch location. They are the real deal! read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast at The Ruby Slipper. They have great bloody mary's and even better coffee (I especially enjoyed their NOLA style iced coffee). The stand out to me was the Chicken St. Charles which came recommended by our server who was super helpful, friendly, and made us feel really comfortable. They do have a few locations, which I did not know about, but all the locations we saw, and this one that we actually dined in, were very busy. The service is quick though and they will seat you in a pretty timely manner (they text you using the Yelp wait list feature I believe). If you don't want to wait too long though, I would suggest avoiding the weekend and try for a mid-week breakfast. read more

The Ruby Slipper Cafe is a local and tourist favorite. They will always be busy and for good reason. Make sure to reserve online so you can get in the que. Don't be alarmed if you are number 21, breakfast goes by quickly and they can serve and flip tables fast. What I love to do is get a drink while we are waiting to enjoy. We got the Irish coffee which tasted amazing. I've also had their bloody mary and mimosa before. Once seated we had already checked out the menu and knew what to order. We had a crab omelet and the French toast banana foster. Both were amazing and very filling. The service was good but nothing to talk about. They seem more interested in flipping tables, so just plain and simple conversations. But the food and drinks make it worth it. We love all the different locations around the city. It makes it easy to dine there no matter where you are at. read more

This is a small breakfast chain putting out really good meals in bright and cheery locations across New Orleans. Locals recommended The Ruby Slipper Cafe to us several times so we stopped in and were not disappointed. I had the Spanish Omelette, which comes with sausage, onion, tomato, pepperjack cheese and is topped with a lovely red pepper coulis. I had breakfast potatoes on the side. Both items were excellent. The biscuit with cane syrup butter was a bonus that put the dish into the realm of too much. My daughter really liked her Louisianan Omelette, which came with Gulf shrimp. Most everything is $10+ but if you time it right, you can probably skip lunch. read more

The food was AMAZING!!! I had the Peacemaker (which you can choose two different or the same Benedict's). I got the Chicken St. Charles and Egg Cochon)- both were seasoned well, juicy, and very very tasty. I opt to get my eggs very lightly scrambled instead of poached. The side of potatoes were good but not seasoned (it was good unseasoned). The Morning Margarita- was very good AND strong but hey why complain lol). Tip: The waitlist is LONGGGG so put your name on the waitlist ahead of time- you'll thank me later. Got a great outside table shortly after arrival. They do have an online waiting list, which is probably useful on busy days but wasn't necessary on a Wednesday morning. The hostess was very attentive to the table being wiped down and the legs being stable since the sidewalk was uneven. Once she had us all set up we accessed the menu digitally quite easily. I ordered the Blackstone Benedict, tots, and white chocolate chip bread pudding pancakes. The food was overall very good. My only critiques are that the hollandaise sauce was not the best, it was lacking in flavor and a little too runny, especially when combined with the tomato in the dish. One of the biscuits in my benedict was very tough to cut with my knife. The tots were delicious but mostly drenched, which took away the crunchy texture. The pancakes were delicious and I am sure I'll stay thinking about them for years to come. I ordered an extra hot vanilla latte and they brought me a spiced latte with whipped cream. I did not have a single satisfying latte in NOLA. They were either too sweet or the espresso was too weak to the point of tasting like hot milk and coffee. This particular latte was too sweet and the espresso was too weak. They also put whipped cream on it, which was extremely disappointing as I drink coffee for the coffee, not the sugary add-ons. The server was very friendly, helpful, and attentive. We showed up a little before 9 on a Friday and it was already full, but we managed to grab one of the last free tables. I'll try to make it back here for more pancakes. read more

Ruby Slipper is an iconic spot in New Orleans for a kick ass brunch. And they live up to it! Did you know there are several throughout the downtown area? Pretty much all within walking distance? Just a little FYI, before you wait in an hour plus line...we were seated immediately with a lovely waitress who grabbed coffee and juice for us right away. I ordered the fried green tomato benedict. It was so yummy. And the best part? It was served on a biscuit instead of an english muffin. So much easier to cut! My friend ordered the breakfast tacos and they also looked fresh and delicious. In and out just in time for our meetings, and the server also asked if we wanted coffee to go, which was a nice touch. read more
