Chicken Pesto Grinder
Toshitha J.

I love the sandwiches at Royal Grinders. They look quite simple but are so tasty. My two go to sandwiches are the Chicken Pesto Grinder and the Italian Grinder. The chicken in the pesto sandwich is very juicy and the pesto tastes super fresh. On the other hand the Italian is drier but it has a lot of flavor from the banana peppers, olives, and the light sauce. On a sunny day I enjoy going to Royal Grinders since most of the available seating is outdoors. To avoid waiting a long time for my food to come out usually place my order over the phone so that it's ready for me when I get to the window.

No one would expect to hear this, but Royal Grinders might be one of the best bars in Seattle. Why, you ask? You can get a beer for $2, sit outside, and take in the sights and sounds of Fremont. What's better than that? Now for the food. They have that kind of bread that you want to take a nap inside of. If I need a reliable 8 hours before a big day, I'm grabbing a grinder from RG and using it as a pillow. The outside is criiiiispy, the inside is ultra fluffy, and it's baked with spices inside to take it over the top. Once you've secured bread that is this elite, nothing else matters. You can put funions and tuna (that might actually be good) in between those two clouds and you will get 5 stars from me. But they have a legit lineup of east coast style sandwiches (pastrami, Italian, etc) that have high quality meats and accoutrements. I had the pastrami sandwich and would definitely go back for that again. Would love to try the other menu items though. I also want to go back because I want to be friends with the people that work there. They were incredibly nice to my dog and even gave her ham. They also seem like they would be chill people to hang out with. I'm not sure why people complain about wait times here. Do you not want them to make your sandwich with tender love and care? And saying it's expensive? Have you not eaten anywhere else in Seattle?!

Hands down the best sandwiches & super friendly staff...... 11/10 would recommend! We can't come to Seattle without stopping by RG!

First of all, it smells AMAZING in here!! Jason is so incredibly kind and friendly! Honestly, all the employees were really sweet! We ordered the Chipotle roasted Turkey panini, Italian grinder, and Royal grinder. I ate here with some family. We each got our own sandwiches, so here is a review from each person. Me- *Chipotle roasted Turkey: 5 stars So incredibly delicious! I love sandwiches, like LOVE sandwiches. And I can confidently say that this was the best sandwich I've ever had! So creamy and flavorful!! Fam 1- *Italian grinder: 4.5 stars Really great bread! Wonderful flavorful ingredients! Fam 2- *Royal grinder: 3 stars Wasn't personally a favorite. Great bread and fresh ingredients though! We all had a wonderful experience! Just a warning, the inside is super tiny! Seats exactly 10.

After having had Royal Grinders "bookmarked" for MANY years, I finally checked it off my "to try" list! I wish I had tried it so much sooner! Came to visit on a Saturday around noon. First impression, tiny little hole in the wall. And IYKYK... most hole in the walls tend to be the best "hidden" gems! I was happy to see a counter facing the street with a couple barstools so we could enjoy our sandwiches fresh and hot from the oven! Very limited seating inside, but tons of (uncovered) seating outside (IF it's a nice day!) While we were there, there was a steady buzz of customers. Most of which seemed to be 'called in' orders, and taken to go. Now let's get into it! I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki sandwich. (I don't do veggies so my sandwich was chicken, Swiss, provolone and sauce only). My husband ordered the Chicken Pesto sandwich. We sat at the bar seating at the window and waited about 10-15 minutes for our sandwiches. They called our name and it was time to feastttt! A good sandwich hinges on the bread! And this bread was to die for! It's fresh, herby .... and that crunch!!! Exactly what I was looking for! The teriyaki sauce, chicken, the oozy cheese and the crunchy bread made for one amazing sandwich!! My husband said his was just as good as I made mine out to be. (I didnt share a bite of mine bc it was too good to give up one bite!) I didn't try his bc it was full of veggies, which is a hard pass for me! But I do love a pesto sandwich! They also make paninis and those look equally delicious!! I'm going to have to come back and try other options! They have a great menu with a variety of sandos! Royal Grinders has a very friendly staff, fast service & AMAZING 'wiches! Don't sleep on this place! It does not disappoint!!!

Had a great lunch. I've never been to this area before. But stopped downtown. Parking was tough. I also got to see the famous Fremont statue in person of Statue of Lenin and was interesting learning about the history. Great location.

Grilled Cheese Trio w/ bacon, tomato, and pepperoncinis added

We had our sandwiches delivered, so don't know what it's like in person. Got a grilled cheese with bacon, tomato, and pepperoncinis added, an Italian grinder, and a veggie sandwich. I forgot to take a photo of the veggie one, I guess, but it was really messy and just ok. The Italian grinder was good, but I think the fave was the grilled cheese. I wish they had jalapeño instead of pepperoncinis, though! The hot sandwiches arrived hot and everything was reasonably priced.

Great place. When I'm in the mood, they are open (closed M-W which is annoying), and I have enough time to wait, this is my go to for a hot sandwich. They are a bit expensive, but generally worth it for the quality. The courtyard seating is comfortable and charming.

We stumbled across this place while walking around in Fremont and it was a pleasant surprise! These sandwiches were out of this world delicious. The staff was warm, welcoming and friendly. Go grab a grinder if you the chance!!

Do they have a gluten-free bread option?

Hi! Yes, they do offer at least one choice of gluten-free bread. Not sure if all their vegan choices are gluten free but ALL of their sandwiches are amazing.

The menu is amazing i saw a mix of different cuisine asian, mexican, thai and american but as per the price the quality and the taste is not at all good. All the things i ordered was pretty bland no flavour i think this menu is design for super health conscious people or the one who is on diet. I asked for still bottle water and they don't have it the most basic beverage they don't have :/ ordered crispy cauliflower but the batter did not have any flavour or seasoning i had to add salt on top as they give me the option to get buffalo sauce on side, tacos were ok nothing much special. Got asain bowl for my gf she took two bites and couldn't finish as there were no flavour while we were so hungry after 8hrs of flight . All silverware and tissue is a self service i don't even know for what reason all these type of restaurant ask for tips when its a self service except the one who prepares the food for you and i'm sure they get paid by owners ! I still left 20% tip for order taker to put the food on the table after that they never checked how was the food or anything since you pay upfront so cannot do anything about. Even the burger i ordered does not come with fries even after paying so much for a burger. I would not recommend this place as i would rather go to other restaurant and i can pay same amout where i get atleast tap water or cutlery.

Dough Zone -- Strong Food Undermined by Poor Hospitality…read more Rating: (3/5) Dough Zone continues to attract crowds for its affordable dumplings and dependable comfort food, and to be fair, the kitchen still delivers solid flavors. Unfortunately, this visit was overshadowed by a frustrating service experience that took away from what could have been an enjoyable meal. Ambiance - 4/5 The restaurant maintains its familiar modern-casual atmosphere: lively, efficient, and designed for quick turnover. Despite the busy environment, the space remains relatively comfortable and clean, making it an easy spot for casual group dining. Authenticity - 4/5 The menu reflects classic Northern Chinese comfort dishes and Taiwanese-inspired small plates fairly well. The xiao long bao and noodles still capture the approachable flavors that made Dough Zone popular in the first place. Flavor - 4/5 The food itself was enjoyable. The xiao long bao were flavorful with properly developed broth inside, and overall execution from the kitchen remained consistent. No complaints regarding the dishes themselves. However, what became frustrating was a conversation regarding the Dan Dan noodles. I asked whether the dish contained pork -- a perfectly reasonable question, especially considering authentic Sichuan-style Dan Dan noodles traditionally do contain minced pork. Instead of answering professionally, the waitress responded dismissively: "Since when does Dan Dan noodles have pork?" That response was both inaccurate and unnecessarily condescending, particularly toward a guest who clearly understands the cuisine. Service - 2/5 This is where the experience declined significantly. The waitress came across as rude, dismissive, and surprisingly uninformed about a very standard Chinese dish. Hospitality aside, basic menu knowledge should be expected. To their credit, the service lead attempted to recover the situation by comping one order of xiao long bao, which I appreciated as a gesture of accountability. Without that effort, this review would likely have been lower. Cost - 4/5 Dough Zone continues to offer good value for the quantity and quality of food. Pricing remains one of its strongest advantages, especially for group dining. Final Thoughts Dough Zone succeeds where many casual dumpling chains do: affordable, tasty food served quickly. But strong kitchens can only carry a restaurant so far when front-of-house hospitality breaks down. The food earned the 3 stars. The service nearly brought it down to 2.

It ended up being so tasty that I came here twice within a few days. The first visit, I got veggie tempura appetizer and chirashi rice bowl. A bit on the pricier side, I still wanted to give it a try. The veggie tempura are actually not separate pieces of vegetables in tempura, but kakiage (shredded veggies fried together) - still pretty good though. The chirashi rice bowl was fantastic - beautiful presentation as the fish came on the side, pretty fresh, and I appreciated the small details, like the wasabi stem inside the scallop and the shiso leaf/sprouts that accompanied the dish. The service was fantastic as well, considering I had a table for one during lunch hour. My second visit I was on the go, so I got the Classic sushi burrito, which again was maybe a little pricier than I would like, but it was worth it. Rice, fish/poke, crab mix, cucumber, avocado - it all mixed nicely wrapped within the rice paper outside, and was convenient to eat for takeout.
