Terrible first time here! Came at 730 and they were out of mac&cheese. Already a bad sign. They also weren't sure they had the 3 piece fried chicken dinner, huh...no chicken? Luckily, they had enough for our order. Pulled up to the drive thru window to be greeted by an employee and a trash can sweeping the parking lot. He was literally standing next to my car banging the contents of the bucket into the trash can. After he was done, he literally just stood next to my passenger door with his trash can and broom- - like a creep. No idea what his problem was, but it made me a little uncomfortable. Go about your night and clean something or go inside- it can't figure out what he was doing. Stoned...in a trance?? Idk. On to the food- or what they tried to pass off as food. Fries were undercooked, tasteless and cold. Chicken tenders were cold, rubbery and not fried in any way. My husbands chicken- obviously had been sitting under the heat lamps for what tasted like days- it all went to the trash. What a waste of $20. I really can't see this location being in business too much longer. Disgusting. Will not be back to give them another shot, waste of money. read more

Love the real roast beef not the compressed loaf they give you at an Arby's for example....tastes like Baltimore pit style. Love the big fixings bar where you can put anything on it you like, onions lettuce, pickles etc. the fries are good too. It is a little tucked back from the road so the drive through line is never backed up. I have had the chicken which I like and the burgers are average like a Wendy's. I don't think a ton of folks are familiar with Roy Rogers as a small chain but I have eaten there A dozen times & love them!! read more

HORRIFFIC MANAGEMENT. I keep wanting to like/love this place but every time ( 4 visits since it opened) I have been completely disappointed. Tonight I walked in at 903 PM and the store is already 1/2 closed and they tell us it will be 20 minutes for chicken since they have none. Roy's has always been my favorite fast food emporium, but this Gainesville location is just too slow to tolerate. The employees are very pleasant, the food is always good, but you're likely to forget why you're sitting in line for 15 or 20 minutes by the time you get your order. As much as I like Roy's, this just is not worth the wait at the drive through. I went by today, counted eight vehicles in line, and knew instantly that that translated to a minimum half hour wait. Came here for the first time thinking it was going to be decent even though no one ever talks about this place. I arrived and instantly there was a 5 car line and it took about 8 minutes to get up to the speaker. I ordered a 3pc chicken tender combo with fries and I then proceeded to wait 10 more minutes and when I got up to the window I saw someone who could barely stand behind the counter preparing the food. The window person took my order and gave me my drink and then handed me the food and told me the sauce was in the bag. Nice right? Ya well I get home to realize the dude who was obviously under some type of influence gave me 4 tenders and no fries at all. All I had was chicken and honey mustard. I honestly wish there were a way to rate it a ZERO!!!! I had heard so much about Roy Rogers and was beyond disappointed. The service was slow enough that I could have gone to the grocery store, bought chicken and fried it myself. No one seemed to be working OR to know what was going on. Two pieces of fried chicken and a biscuit was $7+ and it was hard as a brick as if it had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours and it was cold to boot. Mind you this was my first Roy Rogers experience ever and though I had heard nothing but raves about it, and I should not allow one bad experience determine how I feel about a place, I will never go to another one. With me, you get ONE chance and ONE chance only to mess up chicken. What made the whole thing worse was that I used the information on the receipt to contact Roy Rogers Corporate, and tell them of my experience. This was over two months ago, and I have YET to hear word one from them. No apology, acknowledgement or anything. I used to work at Roy Rogers so I am partial to their food. I love their hamburgers, fried chicken and roast beef sandwiches. They offer combo meals and have different option for sides including fries, Cole slaw and mashed potatoes. They have a fixings bar so you can fix your sandwich like you like. I like their BBQ sauce and horseradish sauce they make good fixings for the roast beef sandwich. They still serve the strawberry shortcake served with soft serve ice cream. read more

Ok, so I have never had Roy Rogers in my life, but my mom talks about it whenever we see one. I guess its peak was way before my time. Today I tried the chicken tenders, cheeseburger, mac and cheese, and fries. Omg this was one of the worst meals I have ever had. The mac and cheese was like dyed water with a horrible taste. I could barely swallow the bite that I took. The cheeseburger looked like a small overcooked sausage patty on a considerably larger, unappetizing bun. When I say McDonald's is better, that is really something, because I HATE McDonald's. It tasted like an old cafeteria burger. The chicken tenders' skin had this air bubble, I touched it and it felt super gross, and upon taking a bite the chicken was slimy! Sooo gross, I definitely couldn't take another bite. The fries were cold and gross, and tasteless. They desperately needed salt, and I never add salt to anything. The extra star is for the staff, they were extremely nice and accommodating. If I could give this a 0 star rating I would. First of all, we pulled in the drive thru which nobody was in and waited and waited for someone to take our order. So I pulled around the restaurant to see if anyone was there and several workers were standing around. So I pulled back in the drive thru and once again nobody came to take our order. So we went inside and no customers were inside. We walked right up and the young gentleman looked put out and didn't say a word to us when we wanted to order. We ordered our food and he went to the back. There were two gentlemen cooking. One had gloves on and the other didn't so he waited for the one who had gloves on to put our food in the oven. When it was done they put it where the food goes under the warmer and nobody was around to hand us our food. We could see employees standing in the back chatting. Then a woman walked by us and walked to the back and finally one of the men who was doing the cooking told her to give us our order. While we were waiting the major smell of weed seeped into the seating area. The whole experience was super disappointing and this isn't our first time having service issues here. We will no longer give this place a chance because each time we are let down by poor service. read more

Three drive thru experiences, and all three have been horrible. Fast food, with SLOW service. My last experience I arrive at the drive thru with only 1 car ahead of me. 15 minutes later I finally get my order. I felt bad for the now 6 cars that were behind me. Literally, the only drive thru person is taking the order, taking payment, and gathering my order. The order didn't even begin to be compiled until I pulled to the payment window (after waiting 9 minutes to even get to the window). It took 5 minutes for them to make a milkshake and times of asking me if I wanted whipped cream on the top. Summary: Only 1 car ahead of me when I pulled up. It took over 15 minutes to pull away with a burger, fries, and a shake. I love Roy Roger's food, but am only eating this food when I'm near a different location. read more

Just leaving the drive through and this was disgusting. Recently had breakfast from the Sudley Road location and should have stuck with that one. All I ordered was the breakfast fries and they were disgusting. The skins on potatoes tasted like a paper towel and my stomach was extremely upset following eating it. If I could leave no stars I would. We eat here fairly regularly and have experienced slow service before but when we eat in it isn't such a horrible thing as the staff in usually friendly. This morning we stopped in the drive thru after having to place our order three times because of a technical issue. I understand those, not a big deal, those happen. They asked us to pull forward and they would bring our food out. Our order was placed at 9:56 am. At 10:20 am I went inside to find out what was happening. The manager out front walked by me twice not making eye contact, she finally stopped and asked me what was wrong, I explained nicely that we had be waiting for our food for more than 20 minutes, I said I would rather have a refund at this point because the food was so late. She grabbed my receipt, threw it and her keys at the young man running the drive thru. After another 5 minutes I had my refund. Not once was the manager apologetic rather she was muttering about customers under her breath. Very unprofessional. I work customer service so I don't rage when things go wrong but I expect someone to try to remedy the situation because that is how you retain customers. I will probably be back but it certainly won't be a go to for fast food. I guess the bright side is I get chicken nuggets from McDonald's since we are so late. The downside is we are now very late for the event we were driving to. I expect a drive thru to be relatively fast. I could have gotten a pizza faster than waiting for this breakfast. read more

Burgers and fries tasted excellent and had every taste I expect and want from Roy Rogers. There must have been changes done here because this place is perfect. I waited 15 minutes for a 1/4 lb cheeseburger. It was over cooked and dry as leather as well as cold. They give condiments at the window. I asked for ketchup and mustard. I got ketchup and mayo. Have now been back a few times since my initial visit and now I've also experienced the drive thru. The drive thru was very slow. Took me 9 minutes to receive my order, and double R combo. There were only two cars ahead of me in line and it seemed that as soon as the first car received their order the rest of us we serviced very quickly. I'm guessing their process doesn't allow them to have a car move to the side if their order is holding up the entire drive thru. The meal was good, and I was happy to see that if you do used the drive thru they have little to-go fixin's containers. So in all thats three visits, twice inside and one drive thru. I probably wont bother with the drive thru from here on out. Do yourself a favor and head inside for your to-go order, it will be faster. read more

Went to the new Roy Rogers in Gainesville this morning and ordered two breakfast sandwhiches. They were not that busy at all and it took them twenty minutes to make my food. I counted 5 people including the "manager" behind the counter and only one making food. The employees were more worried about joking around with each other than taking care of their customers. It also appeared very chaotic behind the counter which confused me because there were only about 7 people in the restaurant and those people had their food and were eating. I took my food to go and went home. (I live about a mile from the restaurant) The sourdough bread was soggy and the sausage was a little bit larger than a fifty cent piece. The new crew they have is amazing. Very very sweet cashier "Kei" took my order and could answered every question I had. The chicken is much better and the chicken strips are out of this world. Roy Rogers is my favorite fast food joint, and I'm SO glad that they've opened one up in the Gainesville area! I've been to this location twice and have had amazing experiences both times. I've gone into the restaurant each time-- I see that all of the reviews have rated their experiences low mainly based on wait-time. Both times I've experienced a 5 minute or less wait-time. The salad bar is fresh, the restaurant is clean, and I've had great experiences with the staff. Very professional and friendly. Keep it up! read more
