Expect to spend around $12 to $18 on average for an entree. * Food: My go to is an omelet and they also have good burgers and crepes. Portions are HUGE. My omelet was thick and covered half the plate and it was not just egg. They do amazing on the protein. You also get potatoes or other side options and toast of your choice. Be ready to grab a to go box unless you are big back like me. * Cleanliness and Setting: Many booth tables on the side that can fit around 4 to 6 and several tables in the middle. There are TVs everywhere if you are looking to catch a game. Moderately lively energy and a homey feel. * Service: It is nice seeing the same faces at the front every time I go. It's been several years since I have been to Gainesville dinner and will definitely be back. I tried the smoky barbacoa omelette about $20 but it's enough to feed 2 people or save half for later. Disappointed for sure .... We've enjoyed the Wednesday Senior Breakfast before and my wife has been pestering me to go back. It's only been a few months but something "bad" has happened. Another server came to deliver the food, and I asked him if I could have a refill. Waited for ten minutes and never saw him come back either. Had to ask another employee for the refill. Overall, okay experience. Servers are very nice. Home fries and eggs NEED salt and pepper. Pancakes were good but syrup was cold, not even room temperature. Bacon was a bit too crispy to enjoy. Baclava pancakes weren't delicious but came out cold, wouldn't allow butter to melt on them. Mimosa was cute, dainty and satisfying. Though things weren't perfect, would return. My first review even though I've been here many times. Service is always good. Being a soda lover, their soda fountain makes the perfect mix of Carbonation. I know I'm weird! I grew up with so many memories of going to the diner with my Dad, so I have an affinity towards them. My wife and I stopped here for the first time ever, as we had a "hankering" for a good diner and this looked interesting. The staff and servers are nice people. We appreciated their quick greeting and we arrived early enough for fast seating. We got our check ahead of time and we liked that, personally. With a 5 year old, you kind of want to be planning your exit before you're even done. The ambiance was traditional diner, it's not bad and it's not good. It just is. You either like it or you don't. I definitely like it due to the memories of growing up going to diners with my Dad. Where things just weren't good, and tank this review, is the food and pricing. The food is diner food, nothing bad about that but it's just of the more simple fair. The eggs were cooked too fast. They had that burnt skin like outside and not cooked well inside. I had asked for medium, to avoid too runny of the white. The sausage gravy was very bland. They have too large of a menu so they likely tried to find efficiency to use the same bland gravy between their chipped beef and sausage gravy. However, that just means the gravy itself never cooks in, and absorbs that flavor. The hash browns were very simple and didn't seem there was any attempt to do anything but chop some potatoes and fry them up. My wife didn't say whether she liked it or not, her only comment was that the country fried steak she got tasted more like sausage than steak, which was odd. Her pistachio pancakes were looked pretty impressive, but had an aftertaste of grease that just ended up grossing her out. The price was the nail in the coffin, it felt like pricing was subsidizing the cost of the overall massive menu. It was not the pricing you'd expect at all in going to a diner. The coffee is the typical extremely hot and weak diner coffee, which is an attraction to diners - as it somehow always tastes good. However, it was $6.98 for two normal diner coffees. That markup was insane, that is like having shots of expresso. It was nice to try, but we won't be going back. This is not the good kind of diner, and a little thing like a hot sauce bottle sitting with no top to be found for who knows how long was disconcerting. Our first visit here and we enjoyed ourselves. When we walked in there weren't many people. We were told that we could sit wherever we wanted. As soon as we sat down the waitress came over and took our drink orders. There were a lot of choices to choose from on the menu. Got recommended this about four times! Service was okay, granted they were very busy. They are military and firefighter friendly for sure, with signs hanging everywhere. The decoration felt very like a hometown restaurant. The menu had plenty of variety. I got the cinnamon waffle with 2 eggs and bacon. The waffle was huge and they even added a real flower on top. The bacon was crispy and the eggs were runny just how I like 'em. Unfortunately I couldn't finish the waffle but it was certainly fluffy. Located in a strip mall, this place is a typical hole-in-the-wall diner. I went here during the pandemic. Every other table was blocked off. The table we chose was wobbly and very sticky, unfortunately. Like the grimy feel that can't completely come off. I guess we could have switched, but didn't want to make more work for the server. They have a button to press for service instead of routinely checking on the tables. I didn't like this method because there as a long wait after pressing the button before service. I'm not convinced the buttons even worked. We ordered the Irish eggs benedict and a burger with egg and onion rings. The burger and onion rings were as-expected. The onion rings were very greasy, again, fitting the diner feel and hit the spot. The Irish eggs Benedict was a small portion with so little meat I could barely taste it and not enough hash browns for me, who typically is not a big eater. That says a lot. I'm used to mounds of hash browns since they're so cheap/easy to make. The dish also lacked flavor. Overall a lackluster experience. I don't plan on returning to this diner. read more
