My "go-to-place" for great sandwich's, hot and cold and I've been told their salads are very good. Always quick and courteous staff.

The service was what we expected from a made to order sandwich Café. The food on the other hand was cold in the middle and tasteless on the Cuban sandwich. The thing that really took the cake was watching the employee who ran the register go grab my french fries with his bare hand and take out some of the fries out and put them back. I was extremely shocked no gloves whatsoever no hand sanitizer no washing right in front of me like it was OK , please, as a small business you can do better! Daily specials have always met my expectations. I stay away from carbs and Maria does a great job of preparing in a lettuce wrap or on a bed of lettuce. Preparation is usually less than 10 minutes. Ordered a Philly cheese take that had almost no meat which tasted horrible. Had more lettuce, uncooked onion and peppers and tomato's than meat. This place used to be decent but do go there and pay for overpriced garbage. read more

I loved this place when it had the old owners, but the first thing me I visited it with the new owners I was charged $10 more for the same purchase. I did realize until I saw it on my bank statement. I've visited The Covert Cafe for breakfast twice now. The first time, I had a sausage and cheese on a biscuit. The biscuit was to heavy and to doughy. A good biscuit should be light and flaky. The second time I had a Breakfast Burrito - with eggs, bacon, potatoes, and cheese, wrapped in a wheat tortilla. I asked for some hot sauce - they provided a soufflé cup of Texas Pete hot sauce. Not a great hot sauce, but better than some. The Burrito was pretty tasty and filling. If I'd been writing this review based solely on my first visit - the review would have been two stars. But the Breakfast Burrito dragged the rating up a good bit. Service was good - both orders were cooked to order. So you end up waiting a few minutes but your food is fresh and hot. read more

Yummy place hidden in a cute little town. Google maps didn't quite know how to get us there, but it wasn't too difficult to figure it out. Craving a breakfast burrito on a Saturday morning (and not wanting to pay an arm and a leg for one at eggspectation) Yelp lead us here. $12 and change for two burritos. They were opening up upon our arrival, had just turned the open sign on. We were greeted by a friendly young man and the food was served up quickly. Very yummy. A little heavy on the potato, but that's a common problem with any breakfast burrito. Still very yummy and we are so happy to find a yummy breakfast burrito that is cheap, generous in portion and not too far from home. Can't wait to come again and try other menu items! read more

I came here for the first time today & grabbed some lunch. I chose the Turkey Avocado BLT with chipotle mayo on wheat with Miss Vickie's Original Recipe chips and a bottle of water. I went in around 12:15 & there were 2 other patrons inside, while I waited to order 4 more came in. I ordered mine to go & sat to wait while 3 more people came in. They seem pretty busy during the lunch hour! They had quite a few tables inside & a couple on a little patio out back. My sandwich was SO good! They don't skimp on anything - you absolutely get your money's worth of food. The flavor was on point - I can't wait to try their Curried Chicken Salad Sandwich next! They also have soups, sides (like potato salad), & drinks (including beer!). If you're in the area, you MUST stop by for breakfast or lunch! The staff could be a tad bit friendlier to newer people trying to look at their menu options. As it is someone first time ordering from their, so it would be nice being able to take the time to figure out what they sell with out the feeling of being rushed or glared at. We had a Brunch in our backyard catered by Covert Cafe. They did a wonderful job!! From the planning to the executing they exceeded our expectations! The breakfast burritos were a huge hit, we had trays of sandwich wraps, and salads. MANY folks said it was "the best potato salad they ever had". Decent. I'll definitely try it out again. It's definitely hidden! It's a counter service restaurant, with bottled and canned drinks. I ordered the BLETCH (bacon, lettuce, egg, tomato, cheese) with fries and I enjoyed it. They put enough mayo on it and made it very nicely. The fries were good, but needed salt- thankfully, they keep salt packets outside for you. The husband had a burger- it was called the Cyclops. Bacon cheeseburger with a fried egg on it. It was on a nice white bun (Wonder bread type), but unfortunately, it was very heavy for the small bun, and the burger patty was clearly frozen not very good. I believe my husband would enjoy one of their sandwich choices, but would stray away from one of their burgers again. I'm sure we'll try out the cafe again, but stay with the sandwiches. Ordered a salad, two sandwiches, and a cheeseburger. one of the ham sandwiches was supposed to be "hot" and it was never warmed up. The other ham and cheese didn't have any visible cheese. We notified the woman at the register. She proceeded to use her bare hands to open my sons sandwich to show me the tiniest sliver of American cheese. Then push the sandwich basket back to us. She then used her bare hands to pick up my other sons sandwich to see if it was hot. she took that sandwich and came back with one that appeared to have been squished with a panini press. Meat or cheese still wasn't warm. Just toasted bread. Unacceptable table side food safety. Salad was bad and cheeseburger tasted like something from a museum cafeteria. read more

I have gone to the Covert Cafe twice now, and both times have been a wonderful experience. The first time, I had the Ruben sandwich for lunch; it did not disappoint! Really enjoyed the Covert cafe today. I had a great Avacado BLT and bowl of chili. A little too much meat in the chili but it was still tasty. My friend had a bacon cheese burger which he said was great! And it looks really good too. The people were very friendly too. There just isn't much room to sit and eat. read more

I'm super disappointed with this place, as I've been looking forward to trying it out for awhile. I finally went today with my boyfriend, and I can honestly say it was one of the worst experiences I've had in food service. I've never left a negative yelp review before. Whomever the man behind the counter was, he was extremely unfriendly. Not a welcoming environment at all. We ordered two sandwiches and potato salad and fries. They don't have any potato salad. It's 10:30 in the morning and they're out. Okay. So we get fruit salad instead. We pay the $22.00 and go to sit down. We wanted to sit outside, but there was garbage on the open table, so we decided to sit inside. The man behind the counter gave us the fruit salad, and we opened the small plastic container. The fruit is dried out and soggy at the same time. The strawberries were moldy. We ask the guy if he can get us a fresher salad. He gives us another one and we open it. Slightly less moldy strawberries. We decided to let it slide. Finally our sandwiches arrive. We got BLTs with fried egg and cheese on them. My BLT didn't have a real slice of tomato on it: it was just random slivers that had been lined up next to each other. We still haven't gotten our fries. Once we are pretty much finished with our sandwiches, we finally ask the guy where our fries are. He goes back into the kitchen and puts them in the deep fryer. Right. Okay. While we're waiting for our fries, I witness the cook in the back go outside and throw the trash away with the same gloves on that he used to prepare our food. Then he goes to the back and stands there with the guy we ordered from. They both stare at the deep fryer, eating, watching our fries get prepared. The cook is still wearing the same gloves. Once we finally got our fries, they were those frozen, crinkle cut ones you can get from the grocery store for super cheap. He gave it to us with three small ketchup packets, mumbling an apology. He didn't offer to give us our money back or give us a gift card or something, which is what I always do for customers when we screw up. Over all, the food is sub par and expensive, and I suspect unsanitary. The service is terrible. Not coming back. read more

Today was my first time eating here. My friend and I arrived and ordered at 12:00pm. We didn't receive our food until 12:55pm despite asking about it around 12:30. I'm not sure if this is normal but many people today had issues getting their correct order let alone their food. I can't blame this on the staff working as they were high school age but I can blame the owner/manager for not being there. In a service business there should always be a manager on staff. To be fair, my friend and I did both receive one free drink each but I asked for a refund on the food and the cashier said they don't do refunds which is ridiculous. read more

LUNCH REVIEW. I haven't tried the breakfast fixings which seem to rate a better review from others that have done it. I had the BLECH, a BLT with a delicious runny egg in it. Not bad at all. I also had some chilli; nicely sweet, and it was even better when I ate the Route 11 BarBQ potato chips with it. This place is low on decoration; nothing to see here, and it's just a few tables with some rather dirty seat cushions. In general, Unless you're going to Old BustHead or to Vint Hill Wines, I wouldn't twist my way through the Vint Hill complex to pursue it. BUT, if you're gonna sit at the brewery and you don't like the current food truck selection, have your spouse save your seats and schlep on over. You'll be glad you did. read more

Covert Cafe catered my recent graduation/ birthday celebration. Their menu was just what I was looking for. Patrick was super accommodating to any requests we had. He even went out of his way to provide gluten-free items. The Turkey, avocado, BLT wraps were a huge hit and so was the pasta salad. Even better was the BBQ and coleslaw. Went there a week ago for lunch. Got the turkey bacon melt and chicken poblano soup. INCREDIBLE!! I've never said this about soup before but if I die, fill my casket with chicken poblano soup! Went there today and tried the Cajun burger...excellent! Had a kick to it and was unlike most burgers. Employees are always very nice and genuine. Food comes out in record time, even in a rush like I was. Fries were perfect, salted. Napkins were nice quality too. Quaint and quirky little place on the site of the Army's old SIGINT headquarters (hence the "covert"). Large selection of sandwiches, burgers, soups and salads plus some breakfast offerings. Nothing fancy, very casual, but made to order and lots of choices. Nice people, beautiful area. Well worth a stop if you're in the area (winery and brewery also on premises!). Ohhh...beneath the trees where nobody sees, Covert Cafe will hide and seek as long as they please 'cause finding them is certainly no piiiiiiicnic. (Did you sing along? No? Just me? Ok.) Lol well lemme start by saying I felt compelled to review this lil joint out of its sheer adorable nature without being adorable at all. Think the soup Nazi from Seinfeld sized building and just as busy and plain decor with really nice staff set on the Prairie ala Little House with The Real Housewives of Sunnybrook Farm and local construction workers as regulars and we've set our scene. Covert is RIGHT because you would pass the house looking appearance bout 15 times before you realize your gps isn't drunk, you just have trust issues. It was right, after all. As it sits adjacent to Vint Hill winery and has the prettiest countryside/farms for neighbors. I can't lie, my ovaries are all twitchy surrounded by huge homes and white picket fences that your mom told you to marry that doctor and move into & have lots of kids in. The area is picturesque even in winter. Now...my camera on my phone committed suicide so I will try to be as descriptive as possible while not boring you to effin sleep. Honestly this is my first time here and I can only eat so much, so shouldn't be long. Immediately the CYCLOPS burger jumped out at me. Look, you put an over medium egg on anything and I'll probably eat it. And this burger just gets everything right. Thick medium rare patty that you know they made themselves, b/l/t and whatever you may add, I didn't add anything else and melted American/cheddar cheese...perfecto. Gotta love that first bite where the yolk explodes and your fingers are a mess and you know...you're winning! It came with thick crinkle fries and a can of whatever soda you choose all for 10 bux aaaaand I'm leaving not overly stuffed but "just right" full. The proportion is perfect to grub and go back to work without the itis. They serve breakfast all day (mainly sandwiches) and well all the food is pretty much sandwiches, burgers soups and sweets. They have a clear wheelhouse and they do it well. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try for that burger alone, I promise it's worth the Google Earth tour you go on finding the place lol. 5/5 suburban noms! read more
