So I have managed to try this place 4 times in about a week. I've tried appetizers and even the all day breakfast they serve. I give this restaurant a solid 4 out of 5. The menu isn't extensive but they manage to do basic pub items consistently good. You don't have to have a Cheesecake Factory menu to get the job done. I'm sad I had to write this review, because the waiter we had was amazing. But it was all about the food, and the food was below average. We ordered the pretzels and the Irish egg rolls as an appetizer. The pretzels were soft and yummy, could've used sole salt but its okay. The sauce for the pretzels was awesome, a side of cheddar and a side of Dijon mustard. The egg rolls were whatever. They had corned beef and sauerkraut. The dipping sauce was a mix of mustard and horse radish. The horse radish was so strong that it overtook my entire sinuses. Could've done without it. I ordered a drink, it was the summer something. It was green and it was alright. Could've used a bit more juice and lime but im a bartender, so I'm also a critic lol. My boyfriend ordered the smoked salmon which was bland, dry and small. Something you could've gotten from the frozen section at the grocery store, and I got the clucker chicken sandwich. My sandwich was bland, dry, full of breading, a little on the salty side. Honestly very sad. Could've gotten a better chicken sandwich at Popeyes. It was also piping hot, but like almost like it was microwaved, hot. Idk, I didn't finish it and threw the leftovers away. The total of our meal was $70. $70!!! Not including tip. Wouldn't go back to this place, but thats the thing about manassas, its really hit or miss with these places. We went to Preston's for dinner today. Excellent service and food. We shared a Greek Chicken Salad which was very good with real feta cheese but a few olives would have helped make taste more Greek though. We also ordered very tasty Club sandwich asking for no center slice of bread. It was very good-real cheese and crispy bacon. Lots of beer options but hard to tell what any beer cost. They had a beer list but no clue as to prices. Had to ask the waiter the price of each beer choice and he had to go ask the bar each time. I finally gave up and just picked a generic beer. Wandered in on a weekday night based on Yelp reviews. Friendly and welcoming, good for families also. Happened to be Bar Trivia night when we visited, and it looks like Preston's hosts other events as well. A sign on the wall proclaimed that the pub's sister restaurant is the pub in Clifton, which we've enjoyed on several visits. The same service ethic was clearly present. Our food was average, and the beer list nothing special, but as a neighborhood pub (which is Preston's purpose), the place clearly succeeded. COVID-19 review. Inside is operating at 50% capacity, which is still plenty of room for patrons while keeping distance. Patio is also open with appropriate distancing. Hand sanitizer at every table is a huge plus!! Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Super fast service. Portions were very plentiful, especially for the crab cake entree. Very little filler in them which is a huge plus! Unfortunately they were out of our favorite app, Irish egg rolls. I went for carryout, my second time going in but the first time I order food. First time I went in to check the place out the place and to have a beer. It was empty, just one server/bartender on who was very friendly and knew how to treat a new guest. This time I walk by they have their small crowd so I decide to go in for burger craving fix for my roommate and I. My one star is for two things: My mac and cheese burger wasn't flavorful. The mac and cheese wedges tasted similar to the cheese tots at Sheetz but weak in flavor. The meat although cooked a perfect medium missing flavor. This burger is paired with a yellow sauce. It's not mentioned on the menu so I dont know what is but it's not a good pairing, it tastes like sauce that would go better with chicken. That burger should be better paired with a gravy, a creamy mushroom sauce or a bbq sauce but whatever that yellow (very vinegary honey mustard tasting) sauce, it's a No. My friends burger was a standard hamburger. My second reason is for awkward service. The host just stared at me, nothing welcoming. A friendly well trained host would have taken my cue of "I'm here for a beer and to order carryout" given me a menu and sent me to the server who was not busy at the time. She just had a couple tables (not much going on). Perfect opportunity for her to serve me make an easy 5+ bucks in 15 mins. I probably would have order more, probably a second beer and an appetizer. If I had had the proper service. Win Win. Instead I get sent to an obviously seasoned bartender who is busy and just yells out the bar "what can I get for you" when I tell him I'd like to order carryout. At this point I still dont have a menu and put off. The time I was there I was the only person the bartender was that loud with. I just wanted a different experience. It's already intimidating for me to even go in there since I'm not apart of their key demographic but I live in the neighborhood. I worked there years ago when it was Clark's. I wanted to feel comfortable since I'm a neighbor. But since the food wasn't that great and I don't like be yelled or made feel uncomfortable I just won't go back. They probably could careless, I'm okay with that. Preston's is not a place I would recommend even if the person asking were to be apart of their very obvious key demographic. Prestons pub sister to the Main Street pub is another favorite place; again the staff is generally excellent. I like it when people remember what I drink menu is similar and again you're in a pub and it's pretty good. The atmosphere is fun and they have outdoor seating as well.! read more

Had an early dinner. Went based on positive Yelp reviews. Great service and friendly atmosphere. Fried pickles were best part of meal and my husband said the beer was really good. I had fried crab cake sandwich- I knew when I bit into the lukewarm fries that it was only downhill from there. The crab cake was mushy and wet. I couldn't tell if there were fillers because was too mushy. Not very flavorful either. My husband ordered fish and chips. He said the fish tasted as it was thawed out and it too was "wet". It was "Taco Tuesday"!!!! Since I was still hungry I got those to go, they were really good. May give it another try......food may have been frozen and thawed due to previous closures. read more

Great burger and onion soup. Service was very good. Shepherd's pie fell a little short so I took off one start.

This is a nice family hangout that is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. They have a ton of beers on tap to chose from and a friendly staff to welcome you. We tried the shepherds pie and the steak salad. The steak on the salad was cooked just right and the perfect amount. The shepherds pie was baked to the perfect temp. Nice for a cold night. I didn't think the veggies or the roll was necessary and would ask for something different or just have them leave off next time. We'll be returning for sure to try the rest of the menu. They're outside patio is dog friendly so we'll be bringing our 4 legged friend next time. read more

1st time dining here Food and drinks are very delicious!! Place is very chill, atmosphere is so relaxing and the staffs are so friendly I love how they allow dogs here too, as long as they're leashed and well behaved of course . They're so accommodating too. They even brought out a water bowl and a doggy treat as well. Staff was super friendly!! THE FOOD WAS AMAZING! I normally special order my Ruebens and swap sauerkraut for coleslaw but I didn't have to here. Sauerkraut was very subtle. We also tried the fried pickle spears, delicious! Very crispy! The hangover burger is no joke! A mountain of a burger topped with a fried egg and sausage. There's nothing like finding your own personal Cheers bar! My husband and I have been patrons here for over four years and will keep coming back. The second time we came in, we were greeted by Josh, the bartender who served us the previous time, not only remembered us, but had our drinks ready at the bar for us before we even sat down!! They're family owned and the thing is, they've all made us feel like we are part of the family. Have they ever asked customers to leave? Sure! But you know what? There's a line and it takes a lot for them to ask someone to leave. If you're asked to leave, you are being a drunken, ignorant asshole that is making other customers very uncomfortable or making the bartenders/servers potentially fear for their safety. I've seen it happen and I personally hope they continue to do what they need in order to protect their customers and business. We've made so many friends here and to be honest, a large amount of guests at our wedding were friends we met at Preston's!! Heck! There would have been more, but our numbers were reduced due to Covid. Bottom line, if you want to eat or drink at a chill, friendly and inviting place, come to Preston's. Enough said. read more

Love Preston's. Great little neighborhood spot that is good for families and adults. Not many places in NoVA have the true pub feeling and friendly locals. The food is really tasty.
