First visit to Row 34 after the name change from Island Creek. The menu, decoration and vibe is different. The menu is smaller and more limited. Gone is that amazing burger with horseradish cream. Although there is a nice burger to replace it, the new one lacks that something extra that made the Island Creek one so good. The fish in the fried fish was dry, which was a surprise and a disappointment. Oyster sliders had a nice crunch and were tasty, as were the fresh oysters we tried. The decoration is somewhat stripped down now and it is hard to tell from it whether Row 34 wants to be a beer garden or an oyster bar. Service was as sold as ever. Overall, this place is no longer a go-to for anything other than oysters. Will try again after the menu has a chance to mature. read more

I thought I posted this review earlier; nonetheless, Row 34 is an excellent place for fun drinks including mock tails, carb friendly as ever (former location of a Island Creek Oysters) with lettuce cups featuring delicately fried oysters; the non seafood options include beef beyond a hamburger and chicken beyond bland boiled chicken. Portions are hearty without being hurtful. Clean seating with indoor and outdoor dining. Excellent staff. read more

We're big fans of West coast oysters from the Bellingham, WA area so when we heard about Island Creek on a Gastropod blog about oysters we had to try it. The space is open and airy decorated in a combination of industrial lighting and accents of grey toned weathered wood. This first becomes noticable at the door where the handles are shaped like parts of oars in a grey wash finish. Since we regularly enjoy West coast oysters we decided to stick with East coast varieties for the night. We had six fresh of three different varieties and since we enjoyed those so much we had six more with one repeat and two additional varieties. Although all the oysters were of the same Atlantic species, their flavor varied a lot dependant on the local conditions where they were raised. Although they offered many delectable sounding entrees we decided to stick to appetizers. We shared both an order of fried clams from Ipswich, MA, and a chilled half lobster. We spent seven summers in Ipswich so have had the opportunity to have the best of local clams prepared fresh. The clams here were very close to the best. Perfect breading, cooked just enough but not enough to turn them rubbery, accompanied by fries and tartar sauce. The half lobster was perfectly cooked and presented sort of like a shrimp cocktail. We had the optional drawn butter which was a nice compliment to the cold lobster. The service was attentive but not overwhelming. Our waitress, Fatima, was knowledge about the oysters and other offerings and very helpful in navigating the menu. I should mention that we each enjoyed a cocktail from the very well run bar. Ours were in-house creations, mine a variation on an old fashioned, and my wife's a gin, fennel, lime, and almond creation. Very creative and quite delicious. What a great find in the Burlington area. The place is huge so getting a table has never been a problem for me. Also appreciate that they have a large private room that one could reserve for a large party. Clean and modern the decor highlights the fresh seafood and oyster bar. Standard wine selection, I wish there were more rose options by the glass but by the bottle has a pretty good selection. If Happy hour is illegal, the dollar oysters are a good substitute. They don't skimp out on quality. The type does change, so if you're particular, give them a call to get the tasting notes on what type of oyster is being served on sale that day. Would recommend the lobster roe pasta and fried clams if they have it. Love this place and will definitely be back! read more

Island Creek Oyster Bar - if your wallet hurts, this isn't the place for you but if you want to act like a baller, take your friends here! You walk in and it is this huge space with high ceilings and it is jam packed. I have been here twice and both times, each table was full with a line out the door. Fortunately, the wait for us wasn't too bad and when we were seated, I was in awe of the menu. Items that we ordered: * if you get anything, make sure to get the oyster sliders. They are small, just a few bites but so fresh, not too oily and the bread is soft and chewy. * The server recommended a number of oysters for us but they are all fresh and you see them getting shucked * I got the lobster pasta with peas and short rib - i still have dreams of perfect al dente pasta and big pieces of lobster. so amazing! * The lobster roll covered in butter is also to die for. Love love love the lobster rolls! I prefer the buttered lobster roll over the traditional. The bread is buttery, toasted, and warm. They give you a decent amount lobster and it is paired with a side of house potato chips and coleslaw. The potato chips are so good! They taste like they just came out of the fryer. Crispy and warm. Was excited for ICOB to come to Burlington as we are sorely lacking a great seafood spot. Island Creek meets every seafood need at the highest level. I didn't have the best experience in Boston due to the too thick rosemary roll on the lobster roll. Staying away from that everything else was superb. The tuna poke featured a large portion, super fresh and large chunks of tuna. If you like raw fish, this is a must order! The main course was equally amazing. The halibut was the best white fish dish I have ever had. Perfectly cooked and the highest quality of fish you can get anywhere. The dish featured a lot of components to make it complete including exotic mushrooms and lobster chunks. The lobster roe noodles was also another great dish featuring fresh pasta with a unique flavor. For dessert went with the cider donuts which were made fresh and came out hot. The service was polished even shortly after opening. A manager was floating around and even stopped by our table twice to talk about the food. His passion about the food was evident. This restaurant makes an easy case for best of the burbs, or even the best of Boston. Can't wait to go back. read more

Has a delicious warm buttery lobster roll, it was my first one ever and I was super impressed, I still need to have the traditional one. The brioche bun was perfectly buttery deliciousness! The lobster chunks were nice and warm and full of flavor and richness! I would give it a 10/10 on flavor and fullness! I broke my Keto diet for this and it was worth it! My wife and I have forgot how much we love this place. The other location is on Comm Ave in Boston Proper and we have gone there more then 10 times but because of some bad service the last few visits we have not gone in about a year. Hearing about this locations opening we both were super excited to give it a try we were not dissatisfied. Making the reservation was a easy but then got hard because somehow our spot was cancelled and luckily for us we found out before hand and it was fixed. The oyster were great the hot food is..... meh it's all about the raw bar here. The shrimp cocktail is $3.50 each but well worth it. I could see paying $5 each. I dislike the soup so the manger took it off the bill but told me I hate truffle oil because they drizzle it on top. But my issue was the fact that the soup tasted like a cup full of fugues (I already know smart ass) plus the timing off. The soup came out just as the raw bar got to the table. I thought it was going to come after the raw bar. I did tell my server to time it but was not specific on what to come out 1st. The 4 stars is the overall. I mines one star because of the wait time to get everything was long!! The raw bar way to long. The hot food took 35/40 mins after we finished the raw bar. The servers were running to get stuff out but the back of the house was slow or were really overwhelmed. My wife also waited 10/15 mins for a refill. We were in the area and decided to drop in for lunch. It was about half capacity when we arrived. The decor is contemporary and is bright and airy. Very visually appealing. The hostess that seated us wasn't friendly. I wouldn't say rude, but just totally indifferent. It was kind of a turn off immediately. Our waiter came right over and took a drink order. He was pretty good throughout the meal. Not outstanding, but pretty good. Our drinks were brought over by someone else, our entrees by yet another. I'm not a fan of this multi person approach to service but whatever. My wife had fish and chips. I had the Ipswich clam Roll with fries and cole slaw. I also had the lobster bisque. She loved the fish and chips. The batter was light and the fish very moist and tender, although the tarter sauce was some modern interpretation. Some things are best left as they are. The lobster bisque was quite good. Not too much meat though for 11 bucks. The clam roll wasn't good. The clams were tasteless and the roll was WAY too big. It also tasted like it was a week old. The coleslaw was weird. The cabbage wasn't cut up enough so every fork full was full of these 6" strands of cabbage. You had to twirl it on your fork like pasta. Minor annoyances included having both entrees delivered without ketchup, even though we both had fries. And lobster bisque being served without crackers. When I asked for ketchup the girl (not our server) came back and plopped down this mini cart full of about 8 different condiments. I had to remove half of them to get then ketchup which was wedged under the handle in the middle. No booze and no drink refills and the bill came to $53 for lunch. Eh. Not worth it in my opinion. Perhaps dinner would be better. Not sure. Overall a mediocre experience that started off sour by the red headed hostess who had a lousy attitude. May try it again. Maybe not. read more

We came here for Valentine's Day. It was alright. I liked the atmosphere, the server was fantastic, the oysters and clams were fine. We also ordered a bunch of the smoked fish and pate options from the raw bar. The smoked fish raw bar items were fine, nothing phenomenal though. Where they lost me are the three drinks, 3!, that were really very super bad. I ordered a moscow mule, which showed up in a highball glass cup (not in a moscow mule mug), it had like 6 sips of drink in there, all the rest was ice, it was subpar. The next drink was a lemon drop, this was just straight low end lemon vodka, not filled to the top, no lemon peel or anything on top, tasted horrible, and again, 6 sips maybe. I kept asking for trouble I guess with the espresso martini, which is really what prompted me to write this review. My husband laughed at it, and we really are not drink or food snobs. It was the color of a thai iced tea, sort of bright orange like the 3 stars I am leaving. It tasted like coffee flavored water. Again, nothing on top, no coffee bean, no stick or anything. And 3/4 full, super tiny. I would be really shocked if any of these drinks had contained even a shot of alcohol. $220 later for 16 oysters, a few clams, a smoked fish platter, and fish tacos (which were okay), and 3 drinks. Idk... I really wanted to love this place. We need a new oyster/martini place to do date nights at, and maybe I will give this place another try. But Valentine's Day 2023 was not a winner for us (restaurant wise). read more

The ICOB is a great seafood restaurant. Can't really go wrong with any item on the menu. The fresh fish selection and the lobster roe are amazing. Banoffee pie and chocolate brandy trifle are also pretty tasty. Tip: the weekends are pretty busy, if you show up without a reservation you can be put on a wait list for the main dinning area. Excellent oyster selection! I always prefer the local ones and there was a large variety of those from Cape Cod. We asked for suggestions, and the waitress was very friendly and explained all the different tastes in detail. Service- very prompt! Which is excellent for this area given how many work lunches take place. The staff are very knowledgeable of the menu and can describe the flavor of each food in detail. Food selection- excellent! I highly suggest the yellowfin tuna melt which was the perfect amount of food with a side salad. Also, the fried options (calamari, fish & chips) are available. Ambiance- awesome! The service was seriously lacking. They never checked in on our meal, forgot the ketchup for my fries and by the time I flagged someone down they were cold. I also bit into a large piece of oyster shell and hurt my tooth. The server didn't even apologize or ask if there was anything he could do. I asked for the check which again took forever and they simply dropped it off and said they removed the oyster slider from the bill. Didn't ask how I was as I was clutching my jaw. Even picking up the check to run my card took a very long time. I had to get up and put on my jacket to get attention. I could understand if it was busy but it wasn't! The shrimp cocktail was good but the fish tacos were terrible. They were water logged and the tortillas were raw and soggy. Had an absolutely perfect meal last night. I went for the Ramen Monday meal and was not disappointed. First off, tried the Dutch Silk cocktail and it was amazing. Great taste, especially the chocolate after taste. Lovely. Ordered the ramen of the week and it was so good. Spicy sausage, pork, pickled carrots, shrimp and boiled egg in a delicious sauce. Perfection. My dining partner had the monk fish schnitzel meal and loved it (I also loved the pear added to the mix, yum). We even had a nice chat with an employee about ramen Mondays and what might be coming next. Great personal touch. We declined dessert but were given the most decadent mini cups of mousse and orange. I've visited island Creek Oyster bar twice in the past month. both times were excellent, albeit very different experiences simply based on the time of day we visited. The first time we went was on a Friday night around 7pm. The place was packed and the hostesses were doing their best to keep up with the street traffic. They gave us a we're pretty close to not being able to seat anyone else tonight but we'll do our best to get you in and took our info. We left to go next door to the Cafe and before we could order (under 5 minutes later) my phone rang and they found us a spot at the bar! Service was excellent both times we went and the customer experience was very high both times for us. The bread they serve is similar to a champagne loaf that they fresh slice at the back bar, and is excellent. The food ended up being excellent as well, although as is par for the course in the area, on the pricier side given the portions. I know, good food isn't cheap. I got the pan seared sea scallops, which came out on a small plate but was pretty tasty. My SO chose the Grilled Maine Salmon with quinoa and and felt as though the cold quinoa mixed in with the hot items on the plate poorly and served as a weird pairing that didn't work all that well. The craft beer menu here is pretty great. Lots of smaller harder to find options popped out to me. 1 good meal, 1 satisfactory. Excellent service. Great beer menu. I would originally have given them a 4 star review. ** The second visit pushed them up to a five imo. We ultimately decided to give them a second chance because they promote a 1$ oysters daily until 5:30pm on the back bar. We had 2 dozen oysters and a couple of drinks. The oysters were delicious and tasted very fresh. The service again was excellent and very attentive. Really happy to have another good option for raw bar sea food in the area. The lobster roe noodles were decadently buttery and generously filled with lobster and short ribs. The pasta itself had the hearty, springy consistency that only fresh egg pasta can have. I'm picky about fresh pasta and this satisfied me!This is a memorable and delicious dish when you're in the mood for something decadent.
