I love Roti, but they have got to get a bit more modern. You can't actually order through the app--it spits you out to a mobile un-friendly website, much like District Taco--and there's really no need for that in 2018. I also wish they had a few more toppings, and a different vegan protein, because their falafel is not good at all. That being said, my rice bowls are always delicious and always ready to pick-up on time. The few staff interactions I've had were friendly enough, and I like the location. I've always loved Roti. Never really had a problem when I went into order. I decided to do online ordering today. I think this is my second time. I received the text, and went to pick up my food. Like always I checked my food to make sure it's correct. I however did not see the sauces on the side like I asked. So assume they put it on there. However I decided to still ask for them. So I went to the cashier. She was currently helping a customer so I patiently stood there waiting for a few minutes not interrupting. You know, being the courteous, faithful and patient customer that I am. Mind you she never acknowledged me or said "I'll be with you in one minute". I was the only person standing there and it wasn't busy at the time. Usually I don't make this a race thing, but today that's the way that I felt. So I'm standing there, this white guy walks up. Clearly minutes after I did. I know she saw me because I was literally standing right there at the counter, he was behind me to my right. Who do you think she acknowledged first? Sure wasn't me! She looked right past me and asked could she help him. Not only that, she asked would he like a cup to get a drink while he waited for the non gluten free pita he ordered. Then she went back to the customers she was checking out. At this point I interrupted her and said "excuse me, I was standing here too". "I wanted to see if they put the sauces on here or did they forget? She said they put them on there (my salad). I was so heated, and felt so disrespected! As I turned to walk away , she asked did I want an extra one. I just said nope and kept walking. I'm not even hungry anymore. What hurts even more, not that it makes it even better, is the fact that she was Hispanic. Well looked hispanic to me. I should have gotten her name! Roti is not a-maz-ing but I don't have much to complain about so I'm going with 4 stars. The food is usually fresh and the part I like best is I can eat really healthy here for under $10 and it's a BIG portion. A couple times a week I'll indulge in something not so healthy but delicious. To make up for it, I try to eat a salad every day for lunch. I try to keep the carbs down with lots of veggies and some protein. I go to sweetgreen, Chop't, and a couple others but i usually end up spending $12 for a salad; that adds up. Roti gives me the same healthy option but at only $8. Plus, it's just as delicious! If u want to eat healthy, start with the salad base, pick a protein, and add some more vegetables and toppings. You can't go wrong! read more

For "fast food" the food here is very good. My favorites are the falafel and the lemon chicken soup. Sometimes I just want MEAT and get the Mediterranean platter with steak roti - delish! Despite being busy during lunch time hours, the line moves fairly quickly and everyone behind the counter is friendly and helpful. The prices are pretty good - seems to be the going rate for fast food in downtown DC only it doesn't taste like fast food. The *only* reason why I did not give Roti 5 stars is because of their online ordering. It's almost pointless because your order is not ready when you get there which is kinda the whole point. No one seems to be aware that an online order had been placed. I'm not sure if the time of day matters - the few times I have ordered online have been around 3 p.m. when it's pretty dead in there and the folks on the line are cleaning up from the lunch rush. Maybe during the lunch time rush they are on the look out for online and faxed orders. It's not a huge deal - I continue to go I just stopped ordering online. I highly recommend Roti for catering lunch meetings, too. Every time we have one, I say a little prayer that our catering department ordered from them. This place rocks! read more

Lines are long around peak times for lunch... But moves quickly and staff is almost always friendly and smiling. As mentioned in another review (the Roti at L'Enfant plaza), prices are a little high but not really that bad considering the locations. Closes early (7 pm I believe) and I do t think there are weekend hours... So this is definitely a weekday lunch (or early dinner) spot. They have breakfast but haven't tried yet. read more

Allured by the scrumptious falafel sample, I decided to give Roti a try. As soon as I walked in, I was starting to regret my decision as there were throngs of people waiting in line. The line was moving quickly and soon after I placed my order of a falafel sandwich. The complimentary array of toppings was quite impressive. The cous-cous, red cabbage slaw, and Spanish eggplant were my favorite, which were perfect with the tahini sauce and hummus. Although the sandwich was smothered with the tahini sauce, it kept the sandwich from being dry. The falafels (decent size of 4 or 5) were warm and crispy, which melted in my mouth. They were not hard or dry like Pita Pit or The Perfect Pita's falafels. The flatbread was delicious and filling. Across the street in Farragut North square, there is some stiff falafel competition with food trucks. Not only is Roti a healthier and cheaper alternative to food trucks, but allows you to customize your order and capitalize on all the toppings. read more

Delicious food. I went during the Ritual $1 food fest and the fact you are able to get an entire chicken roti plate for that price during the promotion was great. The portion of the add-ons were a little small compared to the usual portions given but I can't complain due to the price. The food was prepared on time and was still warm by the time I got there. Great spot! Got a rice bowl with chicken and beef shawarma, that are accompanied with 3 sides of your choice, and one pita bread. The pita bread is probably one of the best breads I have ever had; being of Middle East descent, we typically have rice and bread with most of out meals, so I'm well aware of what really good bread is like, and this place simply tops it off. The manager at this location (Ryan) has customer service DOWN; I commend him for his hospitable approach in greeting customers and taking care of them, ensuring that they ALWAYS come back. I as I waited for my food, he offered me something to drink while I wait (no one does that nowadays) very much appreciated it. Then, I had a slight problem with my card, and he simply did not even allow me to call my bank, he immediately said lunch was in him today. Dangerously high amount of salt in vegetable products! I had an absolutely terrifying experience during my lunch time today at Roti. The amount of salt the cooks put in one of their vegetable components of my meal (presumably in hushus, according to the manager) was excessively high, reaching the levels that posse a risk to human health. I felt I was eating ocean water, with extra salt on the top! Somebody clearly messed up in the kitchen. If a person who loves food prepared on a saltier side tells you this, then you can only imagine what kind of experience somebody with sodium sensitivity would have here. This would not have been so bad had the manager taken my feedback seriously and attempted to address it (starting off by tasting the ingredients himself to verify my claim would have been a good start). Instead, the mangers started justifying the product by saying how they use a special type of salt (Mediterranean salt) which produces this effect, and that hushus is generally a saltier type of food. Again, I love salty food and have eaten hushus many times before, and am using Mediterranean salt a lot myself, but what they did today was literary a health hazard!!! For the manager to continue to be skeptical of my feedback and to keep providing BS excuses that have no touch with reality, instead of dealing with the issue (which is his job), is an indicative of poor management, on the top of bad mistakes that pass unpunished. Roti, please improve you management and the safety of your food products before more people share my experience. I don't think I am coming back, and will certainly share the experience with my colleagues and friends. read more

Come onnn Roti, with all those delicious ingredients sitting on that line, all of which cost you less then a nickel per person, you CANNOT charge extra if I want more than just 3 little scoops of somethin' special. Apparently this extra charge is only if you get the bowl, but this doesn't make any sense since everything else costs the same amount. Let's learn from the business that perfected it all-- Chipotle. You DO NOT charge extra if I want a scoop of this, a scoop of that, an extra little bit of this, or a massive heap of that. Of course not! BUT if I want some of your godly guac, it's gonna cost me. I am a big fan of Roti. I think it is a much better deal than Chop't (which is next door to this location) and you can be just as healthy. The staff at this location are really nice and tend to give extra meat. When you order half chicken and half steak, you almost get a full serving of both chicken and steak! I got the Chicken Kebab Roti Plate with the Dill Yogurt dip for $7.95 (around $9 with tax). Honestly, I wouldn't come back. Sure it's okay for lunch, but I've had MUCH better Mediterranean food than here. I use to be a huge fan of Roti, eating here probably once a week for a quick lunch. My go to was always a rice platter with hummus, Jerusalem salad and baba ganoush. Once they stopped having baba ganoosh I moved to the eggplant thing. I like the spicy sauce as well and their bread is solid if you eat it while it is warm. Everything they served was fairly solid and it was a nice option to keep in my lunch rotation. I even had a frequent buyer card on my keychain and then one day I went in to use it and they told me uh... we are only doing the app now. Useless to me since I don't have a smart phone. I stopped going however, when the prices started to creep up, and up, and up. It stopped being such a great deal and I've moved on and found options around that I prefer better. The lunch market is fickle and it is a meal that I'm price sensitive for because I tend to eat at my favorite places often. Right now Roti just doesn't seem to offer me good value. read more

I don't go out for lunch very much during the workweek, mostly because I suffer from crippling counter anxiety. I end up ordering too quickly or incomprehensively, and I can never figure out at which point they put in tomatoes or sauce or whatever. This is a serious issue, I am well aware. But I am getting better, mostly with the help from establishments like Chipotle and Roti, which force me to dial back my word vomit and order the correct items at the appropriate time in a loud, clear voice. I visited Roti during the second(?) week it was open at 12:30, and the line stretched to the door, but I made it up to the counter, then to the register in about 10 minutes. They are quite quick! If you don't want to wait at all, stop by closer to 1:00 or 1:30 and the line is much shorter. For about $10, I got a steak salad with a ton of toppings. The meat was cooked well and nicely spiced. The salad greens were a little skimpy, but they made up for it with a good amount of roasted vegetables and eggplant. The interior is huge and despite the crowds, there was ample room to sit. I will probably be back to try some other items (they're also open for breakfast) and practice my ordering some more. read more
