Saag Paneer, delicious
Aarti B.

Delicious casual Indian fusion bowl concept with healthier options than Spice 6 and Bindaas Bowls in Chinatown with supergrains, quinoa, and a galore of veggies! The food isn't greasy and has a mild spicy kick! I really like the updated menu with Classic Indian Plates and Burritos. The Saag Paneer is delicious with large chunks of paneer. It has a mild spicy kick and the quinoa was perfectx to pair it with. It's really easy to go overboard with the galore of toppings with the DIY bowl option (made that rookie mistake a couple of times!). The menu and classic bowls are a great place to start! The sauces are very flavorful and the Tikka Tomato and Garlic sauce has a spicy kick! The Caul Me Maybe with Tofu and Cauliflower and peanut sauce and Eat Your Veggies bowl with a heap of veggies and Coconut and Ginger sauce are my favorites! The lemon turmeric rice and supergrains are my jam as a base (leafy greens can't absorb the curry and don't pair well) with Peanut or the Coconut and Ginger Sauce. The fresh tender Tofu and Cauliflower and onions are my protein pick, the Sweet Potato meatball Tikki are a bit mushy. My favorite veggies are sauteed spinach, great way to get in my greens (the salads don't pair well with the curries)! The baingan bharta eggplant is quite flavorful (the channa masala isn't bad, but not my top pick). The beets, cucumbers, carrots, and corn salsa topped with crunchy pumpkin seeds are my favorite toppings. The lentil chips and chickpea noodles "sev" are also fun toppings! The service has notably gone down at this location as well as the Crystal City location, but the menu has expanded with more food options. Rasa has delicious, healthy Indian food, and part of my lunch rotation!

Ordered take out via uber eats. I was looking for something balanced and they had a buy one get one free special which was a win for me. I got the spicy chicken chili bowl and then Tandoori paneer bowl Tandoori paneer- 4/5 it was my first time trying this protein substitute & it was surprisingly delicious. Reminded me of tofu but I like the texture (and flavor) better. Overall the flavors came together well and the mint chutney was probably my favorite bite. Spicy chicken bowl 5/5 my favorite of the 2 bowls. For no particular reason other than preference. I loved the spice and the Citrus/ acid (added pickled onion). Naan- 5/5 good quality naan Chai cookies 5/5 it's like gingerbread and chocolate chips had a baby. So Delicous, my only complaint is they were SMALL!

Rasa is great. I've visited a few times over the years and it's an excellent fast casual restaurant in DC. My favorite bowl is the Lamb Kebab with the Chicken Tikka coming in a close second. Recently, I tried the Spicy Chili Chicken bowl, which was fine but not one I would get again. They also have build-your-own bowls and semi-recently expanded to offer Indian "plates" like classic Chicken Tikka Masala and Indian "burritos" although I haven't tried either. They have a solid, under the radar happy hour with $4 beer and $5 cocktails and wine. On my recent visit, they didn't have all the drink options available (e.g. only 2 beers out of advertised 4) but their core product is still 5 stars. Staff are always friendly and quick to make my bowl. I like the fun, colorful decor.

Chai soft serve and mini samosas

Rasa is a solid fast casual spot, and I like to stop by for the occasional bowl. I think the comparisons to Chipotle are accurate. I've really liked their veggie options (sweet potato and cauliflower especially), but the chutneys are definitely the best part. The sides/desserts haven't been as good (lukewarm/very dry samosas, gritty soft serve), but it's nice to have a decent build-a-bowl option when you want a quick, filling meal, and they have semi-regular deals and coupons to make the prices more reasonable. I've always had really nice service by staff at the K Street location, although the one in Navy Yard has been a little more mixed for me.

Hip place, hip music with a college town vibe. Excellent lunch spot. It's Chipotle--but with Indian Food so even tastier. Very cool concept. Cheap, fast casual. I had the Paneer Wrap and mini samosas with mint and tamarind sauce. Delicious.

Tasty and flavorful build your own Indian bowls. I recommend asking for some of the sauces on the side, because I felt like there were too many flavors mixed together in my bowl. Everything was tasty though. I would definitely come back. Sign up for the app for $5 off!

I have been seriously missing good Indian food and I'm super hype to have Rasa as a fast casual option! You can make your own bowl or burrito or order off the menu just like Chipotle. The employee asked me if it was my first time and gave me a helpful rundown of the menu! I got a bowl with paneer and the tomato garlic sauce plus other toppings. It was so delicious! Loved the sauce, chickpea topping, and all the veggie options. I also ordered the garlic naan which I'll probably skip next time tbh. It was hot and garlicky but the texture wasn't quite right, a little too spongy. My only complaint was the price was higher than I anticipated. Paneer is a $2 upcharge so my bowl ended up being $17 which is a little crazy for me. They do have rewards which I'll be taking advantage of in the future!

Excellent! When I walked in the guy behind the counter greeted me and asked if I'd been before. He told me it was like an Indian Chipotle lol. Such a great description. The ingredients are fresh and very flavorful. Plenty of seating inside and outside. The lemonade is great also.

I recently visited DC for work- my first time in DC. RASA happened to be my first meal in DC and also what I ate before I left DC. RASA welcomes you with vibrant colors, kind and helpful staff and a very concise menu that is easy to work through. The Chipotle style concept is great. They manage to cover a bit of all parts of the Indian cuisine in every layer of the meal you build. Seeing the Tamil style Rice Sevai on the menu was a delight! I got their Butter Chicken Burrito first along with their Mango Lassi and Chai Chocolate Chip Cookies. My second order was Tandoori Paneer Bowl and a Kokum Punch. 1. Butter Chicken Burrito- 4/5 I mostly went with the suggested options for the burrito. The Tomato garlic sauce was minimal in flavor and did not have much heat to it. The Kachumber was amazing! The roti was a tad too chewy but went well together with everything. The burrito was not too warm but after a little action from the microwave, it was perfect. 2. Tandoori Paneer Bowl- 5/5 The bowls are a sizable portion of food so make sure you are real hungry while ordering it. It is very filling as well. The Paneer was perfect. The mango salsa and masala beets were amazing. I loved the rice noodles as a base. It was truly a glimpse of homemade food from back home! 3. Mango Lassi- 5/5 Perfectly made lassi. You can taste the mango along with the yoghurt well. There is no overplay of anything. Every element was at the right level. 4. Kokum Punch- 5/5 A very refreshing and hydrating drink. It was a perfect drink to sip on as I bid goodbye to DC. 5. Chai Chocolate Chip Cookies- 4/5 A neat dessert idea. The cookies were nice. The chai flavor was unique combined with chocolate chips.

I usually order the tikka chance with me bowl, which I recommend, but this time I tried to mix things up by ordering the butter chicken burrito. My picture doesn't do it justice but this wrap is both filling and packs the flavor of butter chicken in a naan burrito. It also comes with a side of extra curry, guaranteeing that you have more than enough sauce. Rasa is always a great meal for me and I look forward to trying new items like the mango lassi soft serve.

Won a gift card on instagram and decided to grab dinner tonight at Rasa. I was in the area after a volunteer event. I chose to customize a bowl and did a mixture of veggies and tikka chicken (extra chicken). They loaded my bowl to the rim so I was quite happy with how generous their portion was. I placed the order via app and my food came out within minutes. The staff did not greet me however they did thank me for coming in. The restaurant was empty, but I did see the staff working on a few to-go orders. There's some limited seating but it's a casual environment.

Aloo Need is Love. Takeout.

My husband and I had RASA for dinner the first night of a recent trip to DC. We drove in and checked into our hotel downtown. Fortunately, there was RASA. The Aloo Need is Love and Tikka Chance on Me were so tasty, with fresh ingredients and flavor. I looked to see where the nearest RASA was from where we live, and unfortunately for us, only people in DC, Maryland, and Virginia get to enjoy this gem of a fast-casual Indian eatery. In the future, we will definitely hit up RASA when we're in the area. Recommended!

That is really cool--and great for people who don't drink much, like me! There's also a quite large menu of mocktails, which look very intriguing, but tonight I opted for a lassi drink because I needed to get some nutrients in after a very sweaty hot yoga workout... I tried the following: - Mango lassi - thick, sweet, and very refreshing after a sweaty workout! It was my first time to try a lassi, and I thought it was great. The texture was very thick and creamy and smooth, and you can definitely taste the mango. - Veggie samosa - texture was perfect, very crispy. The sauces were outstanding and very flavorful. Possibly the best veggie samosas I've had! - Butter chicken - not the best butter chicken I've had but still a solid dish. The sauce seemed to be less creamy and less sweet than other places, yet a bit more flavorful. My partner was a bit disappointed in this dish, but I still thought it was good (I'm more about flavors, while my partner is more about creaminess). I did find the chicken meat to be a tad dry though. - Lamb & spinach - lamb meat was excellent and very tender. While the butter chicken (see above) might've been a bit dry, this lamb was cooked perfectly. And it was packed with tonsssss of flavors. - Garlic naan - texture was not as thick/soft as I would've liked, but the flavor was veryyyy garlicky, which I liked. Heads-up: It takes a while for the food to get ready. The place seems to make everything from scratch. So, order some appetizers if you're hungry while you wait for the main dishes!

The food is nothing but genius--fantastic concepts like their roasted carrots, soft, spicy outer textures with a simultaneously solid and rich core. Their hummus is delectable and thick, offering an appreciated simplistic flavor paired with everything served. Their nutty, sweet, warm halloumi, mezze tasting (various pickled veggies offering a cool addition and sometimes a kick), ribeye steak & chicken souvlaki blew me away. The steak was as good as it was last time (9.9/10), and the chicken souvlaki was soft, cooked to perfection served with a zingy garnish of pickled onions. For dessert, their chocolate spiced mousse was a run-of-the-mill chocolate mousse. It was good, but I wasn't getting much of the spice. The service at our time there has a funny backstory--reservations were accidentally made at their sister restaurant, Medina. However, due to it being a special occasion, George (shoutout) managed to find us a perfect seat on the second level, overlooking the inner workings of the exposed aesthetic of the restaurant. The ambiance was calm, smooth, dim-lit, and encompassed a primal, eclectic atmosphere at the same time. Nonetheless, Maydan is an incredible restaurant providing outstanding meals suitable for various diets (keto, vegan, etc.) with great and dutiful servers who bring together the shrouded, intimate atmosphere. Eggplant and hummus were simmered until soft and flavorful, with a subtle smoky aroma. The addition of mint leaves enhanced the flavor. Bone Marrow: Beef tartare with bone marrow and pomegranate seeds--how interesting! The first two provided a rich, fatty texture and intense aroma, while the latter burst in your mouth occasionally, juicy, tangy, and refreshing. Brussels Sprouts: Brussels sprouts with grapes, walnuts, fig jam, and mint yogurt--a whimsical yet magical combination... The Brussels sprouts offered a fresh, vegetal aroma and a slightly roasted aroma; the walnuts provided a nutty richness and crunch; the fruit provided a fresh sweet and sour taste and plenty of juice; and the yogurt acted as a binder between the flavors while adding a touch of minty coolness. Duck Shawarma: My friend and I thought: ...Peking duck? The skin was soft, the meat tender, not gamey, with a subtle smoky flavor; the fig and lemon sauce was sweet and refreshing; the small pita pillows held the meat securely, better than the lettuce what might have been too cold. Lamb Stuffed Grape Leaves: Black rice was wrapped in grape leaves and simmered with minced lamb. The rice absorbed the fragrance of the grape leaves, similar to lotus leaves (my friend and I thought: lamb version of sticky rice chicken糯米雞...?). The lamb, however, was served separately at the bottom of the pot and didn't absorb much flavor; overall, it was intensely sour. In short, this dish was a bit oddly designed, and it was the only one we didn't finish because the sourness was unbearable. Pita Bread: The bread was thin yet chewy, with a rough, slightly powdery surface, making it substantial and satisfying. I especially loved the "everything wrapped in a big pancake" style!
