I love a quick serve, healthy option that isn't salads. Super tasty and great options for anyone with dietary restrictions (esp vegetarians & vegans). I almost never buy a drink to go with a meal, but I really recommend the turmeric lemonade! Also, their service is quick which I appreciate.

    Saag Paneer, delicious

Delicious casual Indian fusion bowl concept with healthier options than Spice 6 and Bindaas Bowls in Chinatown with supergrains, quinoa, and a galore of veggies! The food isn't greasy and has a mild spicy kick! I really like the updated menu with Classic Indian Plates and Burritos. The Saag Paneer is delicious with large chunks of paneer. It has a mild spicy kick and the quinoa was perfectx to pair it with. It's really easy to go overboard with the galore of toppings with the DIY bowl option (made that rookie mistake a couple of times!). The menu and classic bowls are a great place to start! The sauces are very flavorful and the Tikka Tomato and Garlic sauce has a spicy kick! The Caul Me Maybe with Tofu and Cauliflower and peanut sauce and Eat Your Veggies bowl with a heap of veggies and Coconut and Ginger sauce are my favorites! The lemon turmeric rice and supergrains are my jam as a base (leafy greens can't absorb the curry and don't pair well) with Peanut or the Coconut and Ginger Sauce. The fresh tender Tofu and Cauliflower and onions are my protein pick, the Sweet Potato meatball Tikki are a bit mushy. My favorite veggies are sauteed spinach, great way to get in my greens (the salads don't pair well with the curries)! The baingan bharta eggplant is quite flavorful (the channa masala isn't bad, but not my top pick). The beets, cucumbers, carrots, and corn salsa topped with crunchy pumpkin seeds are my favorite toppings. The lentil chips and chickpea noodles "sev" are also fun toppings! The service has notably gone down at this location as well as the Crystal City location, but the menu has expanded with more food options. Rasa has delicious, healthy Indian food, and part of my lunch rotation!

Ordered take out via uber eats. I was looking for something balanced and they had a buy one get one free special which was a win for me. I got the spicy chicken chili bowl and then Tandoori paneer bowl Tandoori paneer- 4/5 it was my first time trying this protein substitute & it was surprisingly delicious. Reminded me of tofu but I like the texture (and flavor) better. Overall the flavors came together well and the mint chutney was probably my favorite bite. Spicy chicken bowl 5/5 my favorite of the 2 bowls. For no particular reason other than preference. I loved the spice and the Citrus/ acid (added pickled onion). Naan- 5/5 good quality naan Chai cookies 5/5 it's like gingerbread and chocolate chips had a baby. So Delicous, my only complaint is they were SMALL!

Rasa is great. I've visited a few times over the years and it's an excellent fast casual restaurant in DC. My favorite bowl is the Lamb Kebab with the Chicken Tikka coming in a close second. Recently, I tried the Spicy Chili Chicken bowl, which was fine but not one I would get again. They also have build-your-own bowls and semi-recently expanded to offer Indian "plates" like classic Chicken Tikka Masala and Indian "burritos" although I haven't tried either. They have a solid, under the radar happy hour with $4 beer and $5 cocktails and wine. On my recent visit, they didn't have all the drink options available (e.g. only 2 beers out of advertised 4) but their core product is still 5 stars. Staff are always friendly and quick to make my bowl. I like the fun, colorful decor.

Rasa is a solid fast casual spot, and I like to stop by for the occasional bowl. I think the comparisons to Chipotle are accurate. I've really liked their veggie options (sweet potato and cauliflower especially), but the chutneys are definitely the best part. The sides/desserts haven't been as good (lukewarm/very dry samosas, gritty soft serve), but it's nice to have a decent build-a-bowl option when you want a quick, filling meal, and they have semi-regular deals and coupons to make the prices more reasonable. I've always had really nice service by staff at the K Street location, although the one in Navy Yard has been a little more mixed for me.

Hip place, hip music with a college town vibe. Excellent lunch spot. It's Chipotle--but with Indian Food so even tastier. Very cool concept. Cheap, fast casual. I had the Paneer Wrap and mini samosas with mint and tamarind sauce. Delicious.

Tasty and flavorful build your own Indian bowls. I recommend asking for some of the sauces on the side, because I felt like there were too many flavors mixed together in my bowl. Everything was tasty though. I would definitely come back. Sign up for the app for $5 off!

I have been seriously missing good Indian food and I'm super hype to have Rasa as a fast casual option! You can make your own bowl or burrito or order off the menu just like Chipotle. The employee asked me if it was my first time and gave me a helpful rundown of the menu! I got a bowl with paneer and the tomato garlic sauce plus other toppings. It was so delicious! Loved the sauce, chickpea topping, and all the veggie options. I also ordered the garlic naan which I'll probably skip next time tbh. It was hot and garlicky but the texture wasn't quite right, a little too spongy. My only complaint was the price was higher than I anticipated. Paneer is a $2 upcharge so my bowl ended up being $17 which is a little crazy for me. They do have rewards which I'll be taking advantage of in the future!

Excellent! When I walked in the guy behind the counter greeted me and asked if I'd been before. He told me it was like an Indian Chipotle lol. Such a great description. The ingredients are fresh and very flavorful. Plenty of seating inside and outside. The lemonade is great also.

I recently visited DC for work- my first time in DC. RASA happened to be my first meal in DC and also what I ate before I left DC. RASA welcomes you with vibrant colors, kind and helpful staff and a very concise menu that is easy to work through. The Chipotle style concept is great. They manage to cover a bit of all parts of the Indian cuisine in every layer of the meal you build. Seeing the Tamil style Rice Sevai on the menu was a delight! I got their Butter Chicken Burrito first along with their Mango Lassi and Chai Chocolate Chip Cookies. My second order was Tandoori Paneer Bowl and a Kokum Punch. 1. Butter Chicken Burrito- 4/5 I mostly went with the suggested options for the burrito. The Tomato garlic sauce was minimal in flavor and did not have much heat to it. The Kachumber was amazing! The roti was a tad too chewy but went well together with everything. The burrito was not too warm but after a little action from the microwave, it was perfect. 2. Tandoori Paneer Bowl- 5/5 The bowls are a sizable portion of food so make sure you are real hungry while ordering it. It is very filling as well. The Paneer was perfect. The mango salsa and masala beets were amazing. I loved the rice noodles as a base. It was truly a glimpse of homemade food from back home! 3. Mango Lassi- 5/5 Perfectly made lassi. You can taste the mango along with the yoghurt well. There is no overplay of anything. Every element was at the right level. 4. Kokum Punch- 5/5 A very refreshing and hydrating drink. It was a perfect drink to sip on as I bid goodbye to DC. 5. Chai Chocolate Chip Cookies- 4/5 A neat dessert idea. The cookies were nice. The chai flavor was unique combined with chocolate chips.

I usually order the tikka chance with me bowl, which I recommend, but this time I tried to mix things up by ordering the butter chicken burrito. My picture doesn't do it justice but this wrap is both filling and packs the flavor of butter chicken in a naan burrito. It also comes with a side of extra curry, guaranteeing that you have more than enough sauce. Rasa is always a great meal for me and I look forward to trying new items like the mango lassi soft serve.

It had been quite a while since my last visit, and I'm happy to say it was every bit as good as I remembered. I visited with my two daughters, ages 8 and 22, after a long day of sightseeing in nearly 100-degree weather. We were dressed for the extreme heat outside and, understandably, didn't want to carry sweaters or jackets around all day. Our original table was directly beneath an air conditioning vent, and the staff graciously accommodated our request to move to a warmer table. When my 8-year-old was still chilly in the 67-68° dining room, our waiter thoughtfully brought over a tablecloth for her to drape over her shoulders. It was such a kind gesture and an example of truly exceptional hospitality. The food was outstanding. The appetizers were fantastic, and my youngest especially enjoyed the mango lassi and a butter paneer dish that served as a kid-friendly alternative to butter chicken. My oldest daughter and I shared several appetizers along with a shrimp entrée, and everything was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. Rasika continues to excel in every way--wonderful food, attentive service, and a beautiful atmosphere. It's easy to see why it has remained one of Washington's premier restaurants for so many years. We had a fantastic evening, and I look forward to returning the next time I'm in D.C. Keep up the great work!

It was the vegetable Samosa and it's soooo good! The whole experience was great and the food had so much flavor. This was my first time coming here, but it definitely won't be my last. It honestly feels like a bit of a hidden gem for happy hour in DC.

A true gem on 14th street!…read more My dining experience here was nothing short of magical. There is something special about a restaurant whose decor tells a story of culture and beauty. This place brings South Asian culture to DC and the evidence of that is the beautiful black and white portrait collections with DC sprinkled throughout it. See if you can spot it in the image I posted! I loved it Next, their hospitality was excellent!!!!!! From the time that you walked through the doors, you're immediately greeted. Then, as soon as you sit at the table, the wait staff is attentive to your needs and uses such care to keep your water glass refilled and your table cleared between meals. Thank you! Drinks: we were there for the happy hour so we both wanted to try something special. I ordered the Chai espresso martini and my boyfriend ordered the Pili margarita. The Chai espresso martini was GOLDEN! If this drink were to go up for cocktail of the year, it would come out on top. Might I say that chai is something that you can mess up and I've had encounters where it was watered down, not the case here. I tasted the fresh and real chai and the richly brewed espresso. This drink wasn't just a martini, it warranted deep conversation with each sip. My boyfriend raved about his Pili margarita and talked about how excellent it was to taste fresh mangoes, a burst of citrus, and spiciness. A beautiful culinary combination Safe to say that both drinks were our favs!!! I also had a glass of their white wine and it was dry and refreshing. Well done! Food: we ordered several dishes from the happy hour menu. Please note that they aren't shy of providing excellent portions. Manchurian wings: a star dish! The fry on the wings were perfect but the seasoning puts this dish over the top. Highly recommended! Vegetable samosa: flaky dough with the most delectable sautéed vegetables. You'd definitely want to try a few of these! Gobi manchurian: a beautiful dish for non-meat eaters and meat eaters. Similarly to the wings, these cauliflowers were perfectly fried and seasoned to perfection. Actually, at one point, I thought that I was eating a meat dish because it was so tender and juicy inside. Please don't miss ordering these! Spicy chicken tikka: the dish that makes you ask "what spices are in this? They're EXCELLENT!" Such a juicy and tender cut with the perfect blend of flavors. Order, order, order! I think it's safe to say that we enjoyed ALL of our selections and appreciated the modern twist on Indian food classics. They didn't stray too far from the beauty of these dishes but added just enough personality to win you over. Lastly, we ordered dessert! We originally went with their bread pudding which came with cardamom ice cream but the amazing host, Dave, surprised us with their special Gulab jamun. The cardamom ice cream was AHHH-MAY-ZIN (spelled how I need you to say it!) it was amazing! But let's get into this bread pudding. I have so many questions: who is the pastry chef? How did they master such perfect bread pudding? Also, why is this dessert SO GOOD?! Best bread pudding and ice cream EVER! And I don't say that often about much bread puddings. The Gulab jamun was also my favorite because it wasn't sweet as the others and I felt so satisfied taking bites of this with the beautiful ice cream they placed on top. It's a no brainer that I'm coming back soon and that I'm going to try their dinner menu next. Please make the reservations and go support this spot, you won't regret it!

Considering there is a 5* Indian restaurant across the street, it is difficult to not compare this restaurant to it. Jab We Met has your customary authentic Indian cuisine, however, in typical American fashion some of the flavor and heat is dialed down or inconsistent. The first time I visited, I was left wanting more in the flavor department. I asked for spicy, and although what I received would be considered spicy to some, it wasn't nearly as spicy as I expected for Indian cuisine. The depth of flavor can be inconsistent, although for American standards it is perfect. What I've experienced with some Indian restaurants is the flavor level depends on how close the batch is to almost empty. I've experienced some restaurants stretch their gravies by adding stock/water. Jab We Met seems to take pride in serving consistent gravy texture and consistency. The customer service is always good. The inside has an upscale decor, fitting for Capitol Hill and not your traditional Indian restaurant. There is a full size bar and window seating. The lunch special is perhaps the best value here. I'll continue to visit.

For the side dal buratta, I don't think the buratta did much to add to the dish. Everything else was great though. My favorite was the scallops and bison momo. The service was great. It was quite crowded on the patio, so service was a little slow but the staff provided wonderful recommendations. The patio was also very comfortable and well-spaced. I would definitely come back to try more restaurants!

We shared the malai paneer lasagna, which was rich, creamy, and flavorful. I got the murgh makhani as my main dish and it was fantastic-perfectly cooked, great flavor, amazing portion size, and creamy. I highly recommend Daru and look forward to returning! February 2023: An absolutely outstanding experience from start to finish in every way. Daru is the rare restaurant to exceed the tremendous hype it has. My friend and my amazing experience started the day before, when Daru asked us if anyone in our party had any food restrictions, which my friend did. When we arrived for our weeknight reservation, we were seated immediately. What distinguishes Daru from almost anywhere I've been is that our server gave us a paper menu with the dishes my friend could eat based on the listed dietary restrictions starred-above and beyond service. The rest of our service was similarly excellent, with our server making some excellent recommendations that allowed us to try the dishes we wanted and additional dishes in the most cost-efficient way. Our dishes were delivered in a timely manner and the meal itself was extremely affordable. Daru adds an automatic 20% charge to all checks and tells you on the menu; our experience was worth all of that gratuity. The food itself was incredible-a modernist take on Indian cuisine. Everything my friend and I had was good and ranged from fine to incredible. I recommend sharing 4-5 small and large plates per two people like my friend and I did to enjoy as many dishes as possible. Black Dal Burrata-my least favorite dish of the evening, but still fine. The lentils could have had a bit more flavor and the dish needed a side of rice, but the burrata was rich and creamy. Bread basket: The za'atar naan was fine but no need to order it, as the garlic naan was outstanding. The parota was good but needed more butter or oil. Chutneys and sauces: My favorites were the sour cherry chutney, the chimichurri, and tomato-szechuan. I love spicy food but the habenero-kashimir chili overwhelmed overwhelmed any other flavors. Blue Cheese Reshmi Kebab-One of Daru's most recommended and unique dishes, it lives up to the hype. The chicken was well-cooked, the cashew provides crunch, the cheese umami, and the sour cherry sauce complemented everything perfectly. Striped Bass Paturi: Simply outstanding. Perfectly cooked fish with good spice, greens, and creaminess. Some of the best bass I've ever had. I highly recommend Daru for your next special occasion and make sure to book well in advance if you want a reservation between 6-9 PM-there are many reasons Daru is this popular! Things to note: 1. Daru is small and it can be hard to hear at times. 2. The surrounding neighborhood isn't the safest-I would recommend not coming alone at night and taking a rideshare after dark if possible (avoid public transit and parking nearby) 3. The lot next to Daru is currently a construction zone, so you may see a rat or two if you are at Daru after dark and sitting by the window. This is beyond Daru's control; something to note for the next few months if you go there.

I don't eat pork, so they made reasonable accommodations. I saw online that they're know for the happy hour and fun drinks! I did try a mocktail that paired really well well my dinner. Let's get into the food. I tried tuna tartare for the first time. I was nervous before I had never eaten that type of food. LOVED IT. because I had so many courses, I'll speak on my favorites. The Lamb Kebab was superb! I'd over it again on Wednesday's when they have à la carte. The dessert, the chocolate tart, remarkable. I'd definitely eat that again! The restaurant itself was very clean! It would be great for a date night! I did go by myself to fully enjoy the experience, but I'd love to return with a special someone!

The tasting menu included 7 courses (drinks were a separate charge). Each course was creative, innovative, and presented beautifully (like a work of art). The flavors were phenomenal, especially on the seafood courses. My favorite course was the black cod fish with scallop foam - just divine. The meal fused Latin American and Indian flavors beautifully. While the food was out of this world, service and ambiance did not meet the standards of a Michelin starred restaurant. The dining space lacked creativity in its decor; it felt quite sterile. Service was fast and attentive but lacked the personal touch I expected. The acoustics in the restaurant are not good; we could barely hear the servers' explanation of the courses. Overall I found Rania to be a very good dining experience, and would recommend it to foodies looking for a unique fusion fine dining experience in DC
