The food is amazing. The service was adequate but not good. Never asked us if we needed more water even when glasses were empty. Charged an automatic gratuity of 20% on our table of 6 even though we weren't told and it was not posted anywhere including menu. Waiter didn't tell us and did handed us a tablet asking us to choose our tip on top of the 20% they already added. VERY DISHONEST way to conduct business. Mocha was cold, the fresh orange juice tasted like concentrate, no real maple syrup available for the pancakes, breakfast burrito served with tortilla chips but only a small amount of a strange salsa, and the server acted like she wanted to be anyplace other than where she was. Highly suggest that you visit this hidden gem! The atmosphere is really pretty, right down to the drink ware they use. The food was beyond amazing. Disappointing but has potential. Rose's clearly take pride in the quality and variety of their offerings, and the place was bustling on this rainy autumn Monday. However, those with a persnickety palate or dietary restrictions (me on both counts) may not be pleased. There are no dairy free options for baked goods, although they have gluten free bread. The only salad dressing contains raw eggs with no alternative offered, but the salad greens were fresh and lovely. The coffee was strong (good) but harsh (bad). The omelette was tasty but overcooked. And finally, the fried potatoes (beautifully cooked and crusty brown) were over salted and the fryer oil tastes rancid and desperately needs to be changed. The wait staff were great and prompt in spite of how busy it was. I believe with a few changes to kitchen practices and greater effort in accommodating dietary restrictions, Rose's could be a five-star restaurant. read more

We came by this place while heading back from a road trip given it was near the start of the Mass Pike. It's located in a small quaint building. Even though it was starting to get real busy we were lucky enough to get a seat in their front porch outside seating area. It was really nice to have breakfast outside on a summer morning. Our food was really good, everything made just right. The coffee I ordered was excellent, better than many coffee shops. The service was on the slow side. It took awhile for the waitress to come by and take our order. It seems like they were short-staffed. If you're ever driving back from New York into Massachusetts and looking for a breakfast place, this is a good choice. read more

My wife and I have been going to go Roses for the past 8 years when we are in the area. To our surprise it had changed ownership. It was very disappointing to say the least. The name is Rose's, but there is nothing in there that supports the name other than 1 vase of Roses. The atmosphere has lost that country feeling and the new music was way to loud which I believe caused my server to get my order incorrect even though I repeated it 3 times. Lastly, breakfast should be the most inexpensive meal of the day, not at the New Roses. For 2 people it was $48. Sorry to say this was our last visit to Roses. Good luck to the new owners. On a good note, we found Joe's dinner, where to our delight the 2 waitresses from the old Rose's were working. Had a great breakfast at half the price of Rose's. So. After a delightful weekend in the Berkshires, we decided to have a nice breakfast, before I hit the road, home to Boston. I picked Rose's restaurant in Lee, as my friend loves seafood Benedicts, and I love hash and eggs, as an indulgence. I found this place on Yelp, only a few minutes in the car from Stockbridge. We found it much more upscale than my friend had recollected; the menu had also been seriously elevated. I asked about the cheddar/chive biscuit that I had read raves about, and our server said they had a whole dish built around it, which you see pictured. The biscuit was really a treat, salty and deliciously grilled. The presentation... well, look at the picture. You'll also see a bit of the biscuit on my friend's plate. He was thrilled with the expertly cooked lobster, and flawless poached eggs. My friend had recollected a tacky room filled with plastic roses, and that certainly wasn't the case. A recent addition (we were told), they now have mimosas and Bloody Mary's, making this an absolutely perfect brunch spot. I see, scrolling down, some negative reviews. It seems the people who didn't enjoy Rose's wanted a much more basic, inexpensive restaurant. This isn't that. Zinging a restaurant because new owners with a new format don't have one particular item from the old place seems petty. If you choose Rose's as a bit of a decadent treat, I'm sure you will be as delighted as we were. read more

The space was a little cottage with dining on the front porch. Arrived around 1pm or so and waited 10, maybe 15 min for a seat. They close at 2p We took two seats at bar. They have locally brewed coffees and and some alcoholic drinks. I was tempted to get a mojito but ended up choosing a Boylston diet cola from the bottle. Not my favorite but cute. I ordered chicken schnitzel served on sourdough with some pesto, spring mix, tomato and I'm sure I'm missing something else- but delicious! And served with delicious salty fries. My date had a burger and fries- all with great presentation! Service was friendly and excellent. Would definitely go again. We considered going back in morning- the breakfast menu looked to die for. We loved "the old Roses" for its fair prices, tasty breakfast/brunch choices and kind waitstaff. We haven't been since it has been under new owners so we were excited to try it out. I always want to support local businesses and I might go back and try it again but our experience was not great. Here are some reasons why: 1) service is very slow. It appeared as if they had plenty of help but for some reason bacon & eggs and a Bfast burrito took almost 40 Minutes to make. 2) Freshly squeezed OJ is not as advertised. I love freshly squeezed OJ and am ok paying a premium for this. Sadly this was just Tropicana OJ. It didn't have a nice fresh zing that OJ is supposed to have. That was disappointing. 3) prices are high and you leave feeling nickel And dimed. I ordered the bacon and eggs which came 3 pieces of very nice toast. I asked for butter and jam or jelly. They brought me a "berry compote". It was way too sweet and had the taste of uncooked cornstarch in it. The kicker was I was charged 75 cents for this. I just wanted a Smuckers peel back jam or jelly so this was disappointing. Everything seems to be an extra charge - extra refill on coffee, jam, guacamole etc. 4) inconsistent quality. The bacon was a nice quality, but one slice was limp and one slice was crispy. The breakfast burrito had a chopped up fried egg versus scrambled eggs and we specifically asked about that before we ordered it. There was some very nice sausage, but there were only a few small pieces in the burrito. It was just disappointing. Overall paying almost $50 for two breakfast entrées and an orange juice is just very expensive. If the quality was great, and the service was great, I wouldn't hesitate but overall it was just a disappointing experience. The last thing I'll add is that we specifically asked for no guacamole and there was guacamole on the plate so we had to ask to make sure that we were not charged for it. we were also told that they did mimosas and had beer and wine, but there was no menu and it was so busy and loud that without a proper menu we weren't really interested in trying to hear what the choices were. Hopefully they will have a written menu for the beverage choices, which I think it only help. read more

A step above most breakfast places I have been to. The remodeled inside is very nice and much more contemporary than I remember from before ownership change. The server/hostess/ owner for all I know was Extremely knowledgeable and detailed in describing the wonderful local sources of everything and how they make the sausage and breads. The Berkshire biscuit meal was a great collaboration of flavors and perfectly cooked. Loved the moist and terrific seasoning of the chicken with waffle. The waffle was not as light and crispy as I prefer my waffles. My wife loved it. Wish more choices on menu though like cheeses in the omelette or types of fruit with pancakes. read more

The best of the many quality restaurants that we have enjoyed in these past few years on both Coasts. First visit made at the recommendation of two different, enthusiastic neighbors. The food was a creative take on very strong basic themes, a waffle bacon egg sandwich with maple syrup & Gruyère cheese, absolutely scrumptious, every ingredient properly done to meld together perfectly. Strong delicious coffee served with a demitasse spoon in uniquely attractive cups & saucers with a complementary creamer, matching plates and silver. Warm, attentive staff from first seating throughout the meal. The restaurant is a conversion of a rambling former home with porches. In the Summer, we will sit outside. We are somewhat local but had never been to Rose's. We chose to give it a try because it is right off the turnpike which made it a good location to meet family traveling through. We all liked the decor and atmosphere. It has a modern feel but with a French farm kitchen twist. The service was very friendly and attentive. Coffee wasn't the best but the decaf cappuccino had a nice presentation. The food was flavorful but extremely greasy. There was a puddle of grease left on my omelette plate. My mother didn't eat her scrambled eggs because they were so greasy. Ironically, the toast didn't have enough butter. So, more butter on toast and less butter/oil on eggs would be preferable. Had there been there a little more care with what goes on in the kitchen, this would have been a rave 4-star review. But first the good things. The restaurant is gorgeous! Befitting a place called Roses, the walls are rosy pink with rose accented wallpaper and curtains. What kind of artwork is on the walls? Why pictures of roses of course. Service was pretty good with quite a few check backs and refills. We walked in at 12:20 on a Sunday and were disappointed that the Breakfast menu was shut off, but hey.... the lunch menu looked pretty good with all kinds of reasonably priced sandwiches and burger and salads. We each went for a sandwich, namely a BLT and a Chicken Salad that ran $8 or $9 apiece with fries and a pickle.. My BLT may have been the BIGGEST BLT I have ever seen. Calling it a BLT doesn't do it justice, because it actually was an LTBLTBL, or lettuce, tomato, bacon, lettuce, tomato, bacon, and lettuce. It was so thick it looked like a triple decker sandwich. I upgraded to onion rings for a buck. The Chicken Salad was obviously home-made and pretty generously portioned. So where were the missteps? Here ya go. There was a bone in the chicken salad sandwich, and that could have been a real problem. The onion rings looked great on the outside, but they were a pile of mush on the inside. The bacon in the BLT, although a prodigious amount, was cooked very unevenly. Most of it was crisp and well cooked, but there were a few undercooked gross flabby pieces. I showed a piece to our server and there really wasn't much of a reaction. I could have sworn that every sandwich came with a pickle (I tried to check the website menu to be sure, but I can't find their website anywhere). Anyway, my BLT had no pickle. The chicken salad sandwich had one and just about every sandwich photo on their Yelp page has one also. If any of these missteps was the only one, I'd be OK with it -accidents do happen, right? But the accumulation of three and possibly four means to me that that there needs to be a bit tighter quality control back there behind the kitchen door. I love it here! Roses are my favorite thing in the world, so I loved that they went all the way with that theme. Lovely place, great service, our waitress was kind and helpful. The food was very good, especially for their very very low prices. Generous portions, too. I went here when I was about 8 and loved it, and had been thinking about it every so often since then and wondering if it would live up to my expectations. 10 years later, and Rose's exceeded them. Recently went to Rose's for lunch. Been a while since we were here. It is under new management. We were surprised how good everything was. Service very attentive and our food arrived quickly. Surprised as the place was busy. Everyone enjoyed their meal. My wife had eggplant and it was delicious. Abundant portion. Grandson had chicken schnitzel sandwich. Hugh portion with mountain of fries. You know it is large when he could not finish. Had a house salad with grilled chicken. Very large portion. Price a little high but you do get generous portions. Not good for young children. No children's menu offered. Asked for a grilled cheese on wheat to at least take care of an autistic they bring out an opened faced grilled cheese on white. Was told they don't have a way to make grilled cheese after they brought the food. I would have just left or got her dove thing from somewhere else. I had also asked for a refill on my coffee was ignored more than once and then I asked the server why I did t get the refill I asked for I was told it was a dollar for a refill. Roses is the real deal, here's why. Friendly staff and food made from scratch, with high quality ingredients you can taste. The Belgian waffle was perfection with a side of homemade caramel sauce and real maple syrup. The granola bowl came with Greek style plain yogurt and fresh berries that must have been hand selected, every one of them was perfect.
