Cranwell Spa & Golf Resort - Hotels Near Me - Lenox, Massachusetts

Our visit to the Cranwell was to see the Capital Steps perform. The last time we saw them perform here was many years ago and they were in a small meeting room in the basement of the mansion. Now their Summer home is across the road in the Harvest Barn at the Meadow View facilities by the golf course. A small bar was set up in the Chesterfield room, but it appeared to only be open for the Capital Steps performances, and it was not a full bar since it only offered a limited selection of beer and wine. The Harvest Barn can accommodate 300 people for the show and it was almost full when the show started. The moveable chairs were all padded, but I have to admit that about halfway through the 90 minute show my rear was getting uncomfortable as I started to fidget. Otherwise, it is a very nice facility for this type of performance. The sound system is more than adequate so there is no problem hearing or seeing the performers on the platform/stage from anywhere in the room. I'm not going to review the show here. Yes, it was very funny and enjoyable. Instead, l want you to be aware of this excellent facility with its outdoor deck and view of beautiful wooded surroundings. read more

I feel mixed.... the Cranwell was acquired and they are doing a TON of construction and putting up a lot of new townhouses, some of which are very close to the historic mansion and therefore obstruct views. Therefore, it's losing a lot of its charm because it feels like a newer resort with a historic mansion plopped in the middle. Brunch in the mansion is lovely. It seems there are often conferences in the mansion which can give it a corporate feel. I don't know if I would book a romantic weekend here, but I could see doing a family vacation (thanks to the indoor/outdoor pools, golf, spa, and other amenities) or a smaller girls trip. Rooms are well-appointed and the beds and linens are incredibly comfortable. The spa has some nice amenities (whirlpool hot tub, steam room, dry sauna), but the service was lacking. We were sent champagne by family and they served it to us in little plastic cups (plastic champagne glasses would have been fine) and the card that came with the champagne still had the price sticker on it. They also tried to up-charge a few times (for example, during the massage when I asked for slightly harder pressure the massage therapist replied "deep tissue costs more, would you like to upgrade?" We just would have expected a spa facility of that size to have slightly more polished service. read more

Plastic laminate on the hallway walls for over $600. I feel like a fool for paying so much. Cracks and missing tiles in the bathroom. This place needs a major overhaul. I won't be back until that happens. $15 resort fee? What is they for? You have to pay for any classes at the spa. Guess it's for the gym that didn't have enough equipment. Outdoor pool is pathetic too. Extremely disappointed. Feel totally ripped off. read more

My husband and I came here as part of our wedding anniversary to get a couple's massage. once of location, it was easy to follow the signs and get to the spa area. Once inside, the staff was really great and accommodating and they made sure they took care of us. I was pleasantly surprised by the experience and comfort each step of the way -- from the changing rooms / robes / the quiet room where they meet you to take you for your massage. Their was free tea, books, magazines, pillows, water to help you relax. Once in our room - two tables for the couples massage - we were drawn to relaxation with the music, ambience. The massages were just great and I felt fantastic afterwards! They brought us back to the quiet room and we took advantage of the hot tub / steam room (separately of course). This review is for Sloane's Tavern, which is on the grounds of Cranwell. I went for lunch on a snow day (one of the perks of teaching in a public school!). It wasn't crowded at all, but I suspect that's not usually the case in the summer or during the weekend. I ordered one of the day's specials, a plate of fish and chips for $10.95. It came with a large cup of tartar sauce and a side of coleslaw. The coleslaw did not come in its own separate cup, so it had the unfortunate effect of saturating the rest of the food. Not really a big deal, but french fries are better when they're not soggy, right? Anyway, the dish came with two pieces of fish that I would classify as medium in size. The breading was crispy and not overly greasy, and the fish they used was haddock, not cod (at least that's what it tasted like). The french fries were definitely the highlight - warm and just the right amount of crunch. The food came out quickly, too; it was in front of me within 10 minutes of ordering. My friend ordered a cup of French onion soup. She had originally ordered beef barley, the soup du jour, and changed her mind, but the server didn't catch the change and brought the beef barley instead. She amended the error quickly, though, and my friend had the French onion brought out soon after. I didn't try her soup because onions are disgusting and an abomination to the good name of vegetables, but she did say it was on the salty side. What irked me about eating here was not the price of the food, but the price of the beer. There are several beers on tap; my friend ordered the Berkshire Brewing Company's Steel Rail Ale, and I had the BBC's Porter. It was great beer, but when the bill came, I was shocked to see that it was $6.00. I realize that Cranwell is a nice resort, but seriously, that's a ridiculous price. I don't think I've paid that much for a beer since the last time I went to Fenway Park. Bottom line: decent food, bad beer value. On a side note, Cranwell offers ice skating this season and has rentals available in the pro shop. It's $10 if you're not a guest at the hotel, and the rink is only the size of a tennis court (in fact, it IS a tennis court), but the views of the hills are very pretty. read more

I wanted to like the Cranwell. I really did. My family held a wedding there and we had a good time. However, there were a few things missing from making it a great time. It was indeed, mediocre and outdated. The employees there were exquisite, with incredible charm and kindness. However, once they were paid their money, things took a turn for the (much, much, much) worse. I have attended many weddings in the past and will attend many weddings in the future. When people go to these weddings, they eat, drink, and be merry. Once the reception is over, they are merry in different places and sometimes that place is a hotel room. We were in a suite in a place where we asked multiple times to reserve blocks to ensure that we wouldn't bother other guests. Despite our pleas, the rooms were booked to other people. While I am sure we were louder than typical guests, we were not hosting an all-night dance party. It was just 18 people recapping a wonderful night of celebrating. Security came up twice to let us know that we were being too loud for one of the guests in the hotel. The security guard was a pleasant older man and we apologized and promised to keep it down. After that, the father of the bride came upstairs to say hello and hang out with everyone. At this point, more than half of the room had cleared out to go to bed and call it a night. There were five people talking at moderate volumes (max) discussing the night. There was a knock on the door and a member of the MA Police told us to disperse or there would be consequences. Luckily, we are not a confrontational bunch and we all went out way. But that is not what I want this review to be about. We gave the Cranwell tens of thousands of dollars to stay at their place. The families paid for countless rounds of golf, spa treatments, hotel rooms, and an ENTIRE WEDDING. We asked to have rooms blocked off for the wedding party, as we knew many people would be staying local for the event. However, once the wedding and reception was over, it seemed that we were no longer important in The Cranwell management's eyes. Again, while we may have been louder than a typical hotel room, EVERYONE knew this was a wedding suite that we had rented out. I cannot imagine this was the first time The Cranwell had an excited room of people who were celebrating a wedding. Anyway, this is my takeaway from The Cranwell. It is a very nice place with very nice people working there. It is a lovely golf course with a nice, but dated hotel to accommodate any guests. However, they are always about the bottom line and will not go the "extra mile" for their guests. Was it a nice place to stay for a weekend with friends and family? Yes. Would I recommend this place to someone who is looking to plan a wedding here? HELL NO!!!! I will place this review on The Knot and any other wedding website to avoid the hardships we encountered. The happiest day of some people's lives should not be ruined by a few grumpy guests who did not invest one iota as much. Just a SHAME!!! read more

This is a review of the lodgings. I have stayed in a lot of average to excellent hotels. Our room at the Cranwell was nice enough, say for your average Holiday Inn. And if the price was in that range, I would have been happy. However, the price of the room was more in line with a 4-star hotel. The room itself was stuffy and in need of a remodel. The only redeeming feature is the fitness amenities and well equipped locker rooms. read more

We've been to this resort more than once - property is beautiful & if you're in the main building it's great. However, before you go any further with your reservation be certain to read the FINE PRINT. This is where you will find the hidden cancellation fee of $25 plus tax. After seeing this charge on my credit card bill I phoned, left a message for the reservation manager (Jessica?) & no one had the courtesy to call me back. Also take note of the resort fee - duh! It is a resort! Why is there an extra fee? I don't think we'll be back; too many other good places in the Berkshires. read more

This was the perfect spot for a quick weekend getaway. The rooms are absolutely beautiful and the restaurants were delicious- my mouth is still watering for the toffee pudding. The spa was gorgeous and my massage was one of the best I've had. Weather prevented us from taking advantage of the outdoor spaces, but I'm sure I'll add the fifth star after my next visit! read more

This place has a sort of shabby feel despite that it is supposed to be classy. I am willing to re-review if I ever go back in warm months, but in late November the setting is still beautiful but there isn't much to do (with no snow). So, I had to focus on the hotel itself. Our room was spacious with a living area, bathroom, and bedroom with king bed. And the bed was comfortable enough. But little things are lacking attention. Like the toilet seat was worn out. That's kind of gross. The walls were scuffed and the carpet a dingy brown. I'm just saying, if its so expensive, there should be care taken to these things. The heater blows loudly and the blinds and curtains are a bit frayed. I was particularly unimpressed by the mansion which was the only place open late (until 10) on the premises. We arrived in the evening and needed a little snack. The bartender was not so great and what we ordered was just lacking in general (mezze plate did not include naan as described, a couple greasy artichoke hearts and tiny scoops of hummus and olives for a steep $12). I sound like I'm complaining but this was the only vegan option so it didn't really satisfy. I am giving it 3 stars because the staff were nice, the fireplaces were warm, the veggie burger in the Tavern was pretty good, and our family liked their experience. The surrounding towns of Lee and Lenox are cute. read more

Cranwell was first the private mansion that was left in will to Jesuits where they lived and opened a school. Now it is a luxurious spa hotel with golf course that is exceptionally welcoming and casual. I brought my grandma to the outrageous Thanksgiving buffet in 2005 and was astounded. I consider myself an eating athlete, and certainly have taken gold in a number of 'competitions' but this was like eating olympics and i'm afraid i didn't place very high... I think the dinner was some ridiculously low price like $40 per person including beverages. The massive dining room held a two sided buffet of every indulgence you can imagine, as well as meat stations, a pasta station and soup stations. There wasn't even enough space for the modest dessert station that included a chocolate fondue! Oh it was surely a glorious meal but i wasn't wearing my turkey eating pants, so i cramped up in the third leg of the race and had to administer some first aid ala seltzer water. luckily i was recovered in time to do some damage to the dessert station before limping my way back to the locker room. In short, cranwell knows how to feed it's competitors. read more

I've been wanting to write a review about this place since our visit in December of 2011, and now that I have the chance, I forgot the names of the staff that really extended their welcome, and all the little details that made the trip special. Unfortunate, but I'll do my best. I rarely write any positive reviews, which says a lot about this place. Our time at Cranwell was an absolute pleasure. From reception, to the bartenders, to the funny and eccentric chef (santa claus looking fellow minus the beard), service was top notch. In fact, the last time service was this good was at a mountain top resort on tiny island of Bohol in the Phillipines, which was also a memorable experience (if you're in the area and want to be treated like royalty - look up Peacock Garden). The price for the room was fair (discounted from attending a wedding), the room size, decor, quality was just short of 5-star. If memory serves me right, I think we stayed in room 224 of the Olmsted building (main reception building) which I hope to re-book if we ever have a reason to make our way over to the west side. One other positive memory was the indoor pool and fitness center. A series of tunnels (daylight filled corridors) connected many of the remote buildings to this facility which made it very convenient for guests to access this space during the winter. Thank you, this was a real treat. We were hoping to try their spa service but ran out of time. We will definitely be returning to this resort. read more

Sadly it is time to leave the beautiful cranwell inn. My cousin and I spent my 50th birthday weekend here and it was everything I needed and more. The staff of the whole property were hands down a 10. I would have given it a 5 star rating but our room had a smell of stale cigarettes. It might have been a smoking room at one time. The mansion is a beautiful place and the dining rooms are spectacular. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious but very cold and the heating unit was loud and oddly located. The bathroom in our room definitely requires an upgrade and should have been cleaner. The cleaning person knocked once at 9:30 am and we asked her to come back. The room was not cleaned and that was a disappointment. The spa was fantastic. The only thing is that the jacuzzi is not co-ed but each one is located in the men's and women's locker rooms. read more

Cranwell is an amazing place. The golf course is kept up nicely and great for a relaxing day out. The course has great views and is comfortable to play on. Food at the tavern called Sloane's, I believe, is good. The people who work at the golf course were professional. I would recommend for a vacation or a quick trip. I stayed at the Cranwell Resort for an industry conference recently. It is a very nice setting. Sprawling grounds and an historic building. I was given a very large suite which included a bedroom, a full living room with a couch and side chairs and a kitchenette . The mansion is very nice. If there you should stop in to see it. Overall, I would recommend this location for a nice event. I expect they must cater for weddings and other private parties. The food was also very good. However, they had included grilled steaks for the conference attendees. They did not have sufficient grills or staff to prepare them. They couldn't keep up, it was getting dark and my steak was basically raw. The only negative I could say. Otherwise, nice place. read more

Returned for a complimentary night stay on our one-year anniversary. This resort is amazing and I highly recommend it. The spa is phenomenal and can all even the most stressed person to relax. The men's spa offers a spacious locker room, showers, a whirlpool, a sauna, a steam room, and a quiet room that you can enjoy a cup of tea prior to a massage, or, a place to gather your thoughts while serene music plays in the background. The showers in the locker room were clean and adequately supplied, as were the sinks/countertops; each had shaving cream, aerosol deodorant, mouthwash, q-tips, and fresh, clean towels. The pool is nice and kept at a fair temperature. Lots of seats and towels in the pool area, and it is always being cleaned up/tended to. During the cooler months, try to get a room in a building that is attached to the spa/pool facility. I cannot imagine walking outside through the snow/ice in your flipflops in the middle of February. The room was fantastic, clean, and offered k-cups for a fresh cup of coffee. TVs were flatscreen and offered a decent selection of channels. The staff was courteous, helpful, and professional. I ate a 'small' dinner at Sloanes and breakfast in the Wyndhurst dining room; both of which I will be reviewing in their own entry. read more

I grew up summering in the Berkshires when I was younger and always thought I'd come back one day and stay at Cranwell. I was afraid my expectations would be unreachable especially since our stay was in the off-season but they certainly were not! Cranwell personifies class, service and relaxation all of which were spot-on on a recent stay in Lenox. If you have not been to Cranwell, you wouldn't know that the grounds are phenomenal with the major focal point being the main Mansion and the view of the mountains. You generally feel like you are (thankfully) in a different era and can enjoy the beauty and quiet that the resort has to offer. There are a few different cottages and houses you can stay in in addition to the Mansion. I loved our room in Founders as it attached to the spa and made it incredibly easy to go back and forth. Our room was also VERY spacious and had a whirlpool and the most comfortable beds/pillows. We were in heaven! I would suggest if you have someone who is handicapped to potentially suggest a room on the garden level - we were easily able to park behind the building and come right in. No steps! The staff was friendly, helpful and went the extra mile for the smallest convenience. I was impressed with the smiles, hellos and the "it's no problem!" attitude. We did not eat in the Mansion but did eat in Sloane's Tavern which was DELICIOUS. We ran in for a quick meal because we didn't want to travel into town in the snow and we were completely surprised by how good our lunches were. The portobella hit the spot! Great prices, as well. We did not take advantage of any extra spa services but did enjoy the steam room and the pool. The only negative I found to my experience is that there were kids with swim lessons in the pool when I just wanted to relax and take a leisurely swim. I guess you can't have it all! Lovely dining area (Wyndhurst Restaurant) with opulent decor and awesome service. Great veranda to have a cocktail and overlook the grounds. Proximity to Tanglewood is under ten minutes. Proximity to Stockbridge, Norman Rockwell Museum, quaint Lenox retail shops/galleries, Lee shops/galleries - perfect. I would stay again and hope for no construction. read more

This place was absolutely fantastic. Great service, great facility, and wonderful grounds. It was a joy to walk around and take in all of the ambiance. Our room was well appointed on a corner with a balcony and overlooked the tennis courts with the valley in the distance. very comfy bed and a nice jetted tub in the unit. The spa facility was great. Definitely a great base station from which to explore and enjoy the Berkshires. If you can afford it during the summer this is a great place to be - a hop, skip, and a jump from Tanglewood, Williamstown, and Great Barrington. The Cranwell offers the luxury of a great B&B / inn with the amenities of a resort hotel. If you are looking for an off-season spa retreat, look no further and book a room. If the resort is on the quiet side, the gracious staff will upgrade you to a gorgeous suite. In addition to the registration building, there are several outer cottages, the mansion, and another building of guestrooms. Quick shuttle service is available all over the resort if you aren't in a building attached to the spa and registration rooms via underground walkway. The previous reviewers have definitely captured what a treat the Cranwell spa is for the body and spirit. If you are not into a treatment, the spa is open to guests to use the pools, fitness room, steam rooms without an additional charge. The Cranwell is also a good place for business meetings. I was here in early December for a meeting/social of 2 organizations that focus on the New England and NY areas. Lenox was a good central location for all of us whether coming from Syracuse, New York City, Connecticut, or Boston. I stayed here over the course of 3 years, for about 8 weeks throughout each year (for work). The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because it's very pricey. I've done a few massages there with Jen and she does a great deep tissue (at the whopping value of $200+ for 50 minutes). A friend of mine spent $75 on a foot massage/pedicure and said it was nice but preferred not to spend that much on a pedi ever again. The locker rooms are equipt with a sauna, steamroom and whirlpool. And the indoor pool is always the perfect temperature. I did have the opportunity to check out the outdoor pool once and was very unimpressed. The staff here are top-notch. I had a mouse in my room once and they were SO accommadating (it happens in the Berkshires, not something to be looked down upon, really!) The rooms are classic New England decor and usually spacious and always very clean. They do have some rooms that are super small and go for about $300 a night. The suites I typically stayed in went for about $500 a night. If it weren't for the corporate rate of $99/night, I would have never stayed here! It's hard to justify spending so much on a place unless you really intend to be hanging out on the grounds the whole time. Nighttime strolls of the grounds in the summertime are fantasic - I'm convinced you can see every star in the sky. read more

This review is for the golf course, as that's the only part of the resort I experienced. We played on a Monday afternoon, for the very reasonable rate of $53 after 1pm (including driving cart). The course was in very good shape, every shot I hit (except a few that strayed far from the fairway) was off of green, lush grass, instead of the brown hard patches that most courses are made of at this time of year. It's not a terribly hard course, my mom was able to navigate it with no problem, but it presented some challenges with small greens and a lot of elevation changes (as to be expected in the Berkshires). A few of the signature holes were downright amazing to look at. I'm not sure I'd pay the full $100+ greens fee during the morning or weekends, but the twilight rate, the condition the course is kept in, and the challenges throughout the round made this a very enjoyable afternoon. read more

My wife and I booked a last minute pedicure yesterday and were very glad we did. The staff were awesome, the facility was very clean and comfortable. The spa feels like the kind of place you could linger all day long and leave feeling like a new person. Wish we had more time to take advantage of it, but we will return. Highly recommend Anita for pedicure. As a guy I always flinch at some point during a pedi - but not this time. She was the best. It's definitely pricey ($60 for a pedi with tip) but while on vacation, very worth it. read more

I had the pleasure of staying here a few nights around two years ago and I have to say it was just great. I drove to lee from newton to catch a jazz group playing in stockbridge and had no reservations. I walked in expecting them to be full since it was a very nice resort and lucky for me they had a opening. The room was very large and spotless..and I mean it. The room was crisp, clean and everything was placed perfect. The large bed was very soft and the room service was prompt considering the resort was busy. I will definately stay there again during this BSO season. I can't wait! I recommend this place if your are not into small BnB's. read more

We have a conference out here yearly, and love the facilities. We have been in a room far removed from the action before. This year our room was lovely as well as closeby. We could hear hall noise through the door, as we were near the elevator and the heads of the beds were quite close to the door. When I mentioned this at the front desk they were attentive and grateful for the feedback. I appreciated their attitude. But here is the stellar part! My son left his DS charging in the game room just as we were leaving and we remembered it when there was not time to turn back. Called, talked to customer relations, then the store which handles any shipping. I was home two hours later, and an hour after that there was already a tracking notice in my email box for the shipment. My son has autism. So this quick and personal attention means the WORLD to me. While there were small non-stellar aspects to the place, the customer service is what matters to me. Thumbs up! Thanks! read more

Just spent a delightful mid week stay there. We stayed in the Founders Building. It is lovely and our King suite was exquisite. It was well appointed and just beautiful. Complete with anything you need from refrigerator to plush towels galore and books to read. We liked the fact that we walked through the building just a short distance by hallway/tunnel to the spa, pool and fitness center. They were all first class amenities. High end spa and very complete fitness center (even classes!) Luxury but friendly and comfortable too. We also were close to the main hotel mansion building which is another separate delight. The decor is very elegant. Beautiful lobby area, bar, and dining rooms. Incredible views too. Service from check-in to housekeeping and through check out was superb. We were treated very well. It only added to an already amazing experience. Highly recommend staying there. We will go back. read more

Had high hopes for the Cranwell and was quite disappointed. The grounds are beautiful, check in was a breeze with very helpful staff. Then we went to our room (Mansion Building) and it was all downhill from there. We had to carry our luggage up two flights of stairs with no offer of assistance. We felt as though we walked into 1985 since everything was so dated. The heat made loud noises each time it switched on. The TV was at the end of the room and so small you could barely see it. The bathroom was the best...The shower had a hole in the wall, rusted fixtures and a stained bathtub. The window curtain in the bathroom was worn out and torn. Really a hole in a $20.00 curtain just replace the darn thing. Have to say the Brunch was really good though thus the two stars. Honestly felt ripped off it was an expensive weekend in a second rate "motel". read more

June 20, 2016 is a very celebrated day for me. Number one it's my son's 29th Heavenly Birthday, the first day of summer, and the longest day of the year! Not to mention Summer Solstice in conjunction with the Strawberry Full Moon which happens every 70 years!! Fortunately for me, I was able to take some days off before heading home after very busy week working on projects for an upcoming off Broadway show, The "The Truth Behind The Lie & Assorted Mysteries," Produced by Gianna Palminteri, wife of "Chazz" The Bronx Tale, and me Creative Director . Westchester did not seem to be the place of tranquility that I wish to be to celebrate all of the above. So as I traveled up the Taconic I decided to commit a few days at the Cranwell. We own stock in the property that is why we go so often! Now if you believe that, I'll tell you another one. The positive peacefulness surrounding this property has drawn me quite frequently to revisit a place of solitude. I came here to complete my book, I come here to write my Love Story between a mother and her son. "A Journey Unconditional Love." Today, on a memorable day as such, I ventured out to the pool on premise where I witness families, babies, and teenagers playing in the pool. For the first time, I have been embraced my daily fear since losing my son. Watching them closely my sadness has merely touched the surface of joy, yet of gratitude. Upon entering my cottage in fact the number of the cottage is our favorite number, a another universal reminder. As I opened the door I looked across the living room. Tears we rolling from my cheeks as I looked from afar. On the kitchen table was a bottle of Merlot, designer chocolates and a beautiful note from Natasha and the staff. I will definitely eat the chocolates, however I may give the bottle to another as a pay it forward of some sorts or drink it! Today and everyday I embrace life as though my son is by my side. He loved travel, golf, swimming, but most of all we enjoyed one another. So when my book is published by Hayhouse this Fall, I shall return to Cranwell in Celebration for the most exquisite service, property, and pristine energy. This is about Sunday Brunch. Cranwell has been on our bucket list to enjoy a golf / spa weekend. We were disappointed with ourselves for not taking the plunge and indulging in a stay when we came for Film Night at Tanglewood. Instead, we stayed at the Black Swan Inn... which turned out to be a excellent choice.  Because we were in the area, we were looking forward to "trying out" Cranwell by going to Sunday brunch. Expecting 5-star treatment, we were shocked and appalled by the low-level of customer service.  When we arrived we asked for a table outside on the deck. When they seated us - inside - 5 minutes later, this request was not acknowledged. We were relieved, however, because as we waited, a young woman from outside approached the manager saying someone came in to get her coffee and never came back. This was her second time asking about the coffee. We should have seen this as a sign.  From the hostess, to the servers, to the bussers, we received little attention -- having to ask for coffee four different times (including having to remind the server why he walked away from our table bc he forgot) - and they seemed far more interested in talking with each other than paying attention to the guests. We saw many guests getting their own OJ and coffee and flagging down the wait staff with no avail. Oh yes, I forgot to mention that this is a BUFFET brunch, therefore the servers only responsibilities were coffee, OJ and plate clearing.  The food was fine. Not an extravagant buffet by any stretch, particularly for $25 a person. (Though I will give a shout out to the omelet maker, as he seemed to be the only one taking his job seriously.)  We have officially taken Cranwell off our bucket list. If their customer service was so poor for a simple buffet brunch, we can't imagine paying the exorbitant prices for a resort stay. read more

This is a great place. It is big. You can see some wear and tear. Great for family with young kids. We are repeat customers. We usually go there in April. We like their Breakfast/Brunch. Good food. Good service. We will return. read more

I was and do continue to be mixed about this hotel. When you arrive the reception area is tired and boring it doesn't speak to you like a historic hotel. You walk into the Mt Washington hotel and you feel the history not true at cranwell. The main mansion has more of that feel but still somehow feels uninviting. I stayed in the beechers which was okay there were chairs on the deck to read but the shrubs were so high the view was lost. The really strange part there were only two of us in the entire building of rooms and they placed us next door to each other. Not a huge issue except my neighbor was incredibly noisy and seemed to call maintenance at least 5 times. Not the relaxing stay I was hoping for. Food in general was unremarkable and nothing to savor. I would recommend going in town. It is also disappointing that they nickel and dimed guest to attend a gym class or hit a bucket of balls. They let you use the gym equipment and pool for free. The highlight was the spa both my facial and Thai massage were wonderful. Both services were given by lovely and knowledgeable spa technicians. The welcome desk personnel were also very pleasant and welcoming. read more

I'll give it plus stars for it's location and the overall friendliness. I'm taking points away for old, run down rooms and facility, over priced for what you get an inconsistency. We ordered the same breakfast,three days in a row and got something different every day. On the third day we asked for no potatoes and extra fruit (because the spuds were consistently raw) and we wound up getting no fruit and extra potatoes, lol. This place needs a major retooling, not worth what you pay for IMO. read more

If you're looking for a manicured former boarding school golf resort to burn some cash in the Berkshires, welcome. Picture Dirty Dancing without all those pesky staff members sex-ing it up. We stayed in a palatial king suite with a full living room and balcony with had a gigantic tub and surprisingly good TV selection for being a hotel. Plus they had an underground passageway to the spa and gym which had cute murals, handy during inclement weather. I'm pretty sure you could stay at the spa the whole time. The massage was excellent, though they did give us the hard sell for products after the facial. They have a nightly musical review which we skipped after being frightened away by the seminar they were having in the main area featuring the song "Grandma Mia". Local excursions included the Norman Rockwell museum and a Shaker living history museum (unfortunately we didn't make it to that, although I really wanted to see those girls weave. Weave Shakers Weave!) But the museum was cool, there's lots of really great regional theater too. We also went to Great Barrington to the only local cinema. The area is very picturesque and I'm sure will be more so when those trees turn colors and the snow arrives. read more

I am absolutely in love with this spa and can't say enough to express how kind and wonderful all the staff there are - it's beautiful and so clean and never crowded and the pedicures are amazing! My husband and I first came last year to celebrate our wedding, and we enjoyed a couple's massage and pedicures together (they have a male-tailored option that he loves!). We came again this past weekend to celebrate our one-year anniversary and everyone was so hospitable and sweet. I hope to make this our annual zen-out spot for years to come! Very nice place for a get-away. The spa is luxurious and the spa/exercise facilities that are "free" are quite nice. The food, as expected, is overpriced, especially for breakfast. Dinner in the dining room was very nice. If I had one thing to criticize, I think the bathroom could use a little work, worn tub/shower and in need of a fresh clean up. read more
