We had wonderful lunch in the main dining room in the Red Lion Inn. Our waiter Matt was very nice! Unfortunately he had the whole dining room and things took time. Other than that we truly enjoyed our lunch. I had the Roast Beef sandwich special which was fantastic! One of the best I have ever had. Not sure it is worth $28 for a small sandwich though. My wife loved her Caprese Sandwich. I had Apple Pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream which was good... not great. I'd skip it next time. Matt came with the coffee I ordered and said the pie was in the oven so when it finally came out I was expecting a very hot apple pie. That was not the case which was disappointing. Overall a wonderful experience and if we are ever in the area again, we would definitely stop for lunch again.

Since check in time is 4:00, and we were there at 4:30 it seems like there should be more than one employee checking in customers Overall a wonderful stay. One that I would happily do again

The Cornell Inn is simply and easily the cleanest place I've ever stayed in the world (and I've stayed in 5 star hotels like Intercontinental Istanbul, Intercontinental Los Angeles, Ritz Carlton Central Park South, and Trump International NYC). The suite was large and elegant and comfortable and everything in it was absolutely spotless. The staff were kind and helpful, eager to swap out the complimentary bottle of cabernet (?) for my wife's preferred chardonnay, and provide us with several brownies. Breakfasts were very good. I really don't have a single complaint, can't wait to stay here again in the future!

A king sized, VERY comfortable bed, gas fireplace to relax by before going to bed, and then again in the morning. The chalkboards were an added bonus for two artists (we have similar huge slate chalkboards that were saved from a college academic building - weren't sure what we'd do with them, but with an addition going on our house, now we know...!) We slept fabulously, and woke to a knock on the door when our breakfast was left - in a lovely basket with everything needed to settle back in by the fire and enjoy hot coffee, fresh boiled eggs, fresh croissants, warm quiche straight from the oven, freshly cut fruit, and the Sunday paper! Thick, cushy bathrobes and warmed towels made getting out of the shower easier than usual. The staff member we met, Tanya, was absolutely delightful and terrifically helpful. A a great package, all the way around. It was so very difficult to leave, but we know we'll be back!!

There was keurig machine in our room and outside in the hallway as well as an espresso machine, both fully stocked with lots of great options! We happened to be there over Memorial Day weekend so had a nice view of the parade sitting right outside of the Inn! We will definitely be back!

The rooms are somewhat charming - a bit dated with older fixtures - but cute. If you are going to Kripalu and don't want to stay on campus, it's a nice alternative. The cons: We have been staying at inns and B&B's for many decades. When a place advertises "breakfast included" it typically means choices for a full breakfast. This really needs to read "continental breakfast included." The homemade muffins were very good, granola and greek yogurt also good (though would have preferred a choice of yogurts as I prefer vegan), some fresh fruit, slices of bread and a bowl of hard boiled eggs was all nice but not what I would call "breakfast included." Also, we noticed immediately that the room we had did not fit the description given to us of our room when we booked. We were told it had a mountain view which it did not. Upon asking about this, the gentleman at the desk kindly acknowledged that in his email communication he had inadvertently mixed up the room descriptions. This was not an issue and the room we had was fine but it would have been nice to have received some token of recognition for this miscommunication.

The crowd was chatty at first but eventually realized what a show they were missing and all eyes were on Glori and her band. Cocktails are very creative and delicious but quite pricey. The food was tasty- the menu is limited - maybe only 6-7 options. We laughed at the Mini Chicken Schnitzels as a name that you would only find in the Berkshires to describe chicken nuggets. Im sure they were delcious but we went for a cheeseburger and the salmon carpaccio. My husband said that the burger was the best he has had for a long time. Just perfection! The salmon was great too- very finely sliced raw fish with a delicious sauce. I also got a salad which could have been half the size but it was really yummy with parmesan crisps.

Second, don't believe the photos. Property is not upgraded and in much poorer condition than advertised (especially the rooms). Very old bathroom fixtures, window AC unit kept turning off and on, stains on lamp shade, light scones in bathroom do not work, cracks/stains in wallpaper (see pics). Our room door would not lock with the key they provided. (It would not even lock with the skeleton key the staff member tried). We reported this and were told it would be fixed the same day. When we returned it was not fixed. Ensuring that the room doors can all be locked is a basic safety standard. This was not upheld. Not only that, their staffing levels is also below industry standards. No one is reachable, not by phone, not by presence on the property, not by email. We came in around 9 on our last night for example. The main door to the inn was opened, didn't even have to use the key to enter (is this even safe?). Not one staff person was on site for us to follow up re: door. We were told we would receive a text about the door that morning. We did not. Tried calling and emailing and got no response. We found this very unprofessional and inhospitable. Do not waste your time or money to stay here.

The building is really beautiful and at any other time we would have made use of the beautiful common spaces indoors and not just enjoyed our room and the grounds. The room was impeccably cleaned and staff were attentive to needs that came up during the visit. The absolute stand out was our room service meal set in front of the wood-burning fireplace in our room. They came up with a table, offered us options for chairs, had all of the food wrapped in plastic and covered in warming lids, but done in a way that did not interfere with even the delicate plating details. The portions were substantial and food quality was outstanding. They even provided gluten-free options that went above and beyond to accommodate an allergy. I wish I could give 4.5 because there were some minor areas for improvement, but I will round up given COVID was likely a contributing factor.

First night they would not allow us in the dining room with dogs but they had no room for us to dine outside! They wanted us to sit alone in a room by ourselves & have dinner ! I objected. We finally agreed we would have dinner in the bar alone . At least it was part of the dining area. To get to the pool area you need to drive your car. They didn't like where my husband parked our car. No biggie. I think the Pool Boy could have handled it. All he had to do is ask us to move it. Next thing we know the manger of the Hotel comes to the pool standing over us suit & all. After announcing his titled he ordered my husband to move the car. It was definitely a reprimand for his bad behavior. Of course he moved the car. When we returned to our room there was a hand written note offering to serve us dinner in our room that evening. I called the desk to ask about this & was told this was a new thing they were offering ! We ate dinner in town that evening.. I could go on & on with our crimes & misdemeanors. I spoke to this TIGHT A.S JERK when we were checking out . I asked if the General Manger was available. He has a total passive aggressive personality. I expressed my disappointment about the weekend. He went through the list list & more of the above. Wait a minute , aren't I the quest. Isn't this his job ? Doesn't it come with the territory! If he was so disapproving of us he could have asked us to checkout. He didn't do that though. He wanted our $3900. He may not have like us but he liked our money.

This experience was beautifully supported by the great variety of ways to interact with Mother Earth available at Shaker Mill. The sound of moving water that emanated from the creek inspired waterfall behind the home offered a great sense of peace.  It was an epic meditation location. The dining hall opened us up to a sense of closeness and connection; it was also the perfect space for doing workshops and playing games. As we gathered in the common area for yoga and chanting sessions the residents always treated us with great care and attention - it was a full on family vibe. I was deeply inspired by the pond which was filled with wildlife resembling a band of wind and string instruments. We also found the fire pit and hammock to be wonderful relaxation locations. And it's close to some unique activities.  We went hiking, found a rope swing on a beautiful lake. . . And one day I went rogue and ended up at a race, speeding in a go kart around the kiddie track - my inner child was quite pleased! Shaker Mill will always hold a place in my heart
