Some casual Yelp readers might see four stars (hell, the place deserves a constellation) but should also see that those reviews were given in 2014 when a different set of people were running the Inn. The current owners, Maureen and Joe Corcoran (and their most amiable staff of younguns) do everything to make visitors comfortable, without, I might add, any fake "professional friendliness," or fawning over people. If you want to sit and read in peace in the parlor or on the porch (there's a great selection of books and my wife and I are biblio-snobs) you can do so in perfect serenity. But Maureen might appear at your elbow and genially ask if you need more water or would like a cup of tea. I said yes to the second and a teapot full of choice Earl Grey -- my drink -- appeared quickly. Our room was well-appointed, everything was clean, neat, tidy. Seriously plush towels; very hot water in profusion. And (it's July) a cosmically effective AC to adjust to one's liking. My wife and I are light sleepers, and on the second night of our stay, the inn was full, but human noise did not disturb us. The night before, we got a paper menu to choose what we wanted for breakfast and to pick what time we wanted to come to the dining room: ample choices, familiar and unusual, lots of hot coffee, ice water, and good cooking. Maureen has a culinary background, and it shows. But what impressed us most was the genuine hospitality and friendliness -- never obtrusive but so genuine -- that many places lack. We will be back!

The owners, Maureen & Joe are extremely friendly and helpful to visitors who aren't familiar with the area. The guest rooms are very welcoming and comfortable which made us feel as if we were transported back in time to grandmas house. Our breakfast was a buffet of pastries, yogurt, fresh fruits, quiche, sausage and pancakes . There was juice and fresh hot coffee and tea which was served it most beautiful tea cups that I wish I had taken a pic of. Oh and there's a great little pool in the backyard!

Our room was as nice as we…read morecould have hoped, spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable, high-quality bedding, and a bathroom with a wonderfully large walk-in shower. The staff proved to be uniformly pleasant people, always helpful. The public spaces -- the dining areas and especially the recently refurbished parlor rooms which are stocked with drinks and hors d'oeuvres in the late afternoon -- are a genuine delight. So much is good here. But we have given the inn four stars not five because of the disappointing breakfasts. We were served very overcooked casseroles, overcooked scrambled eggs, grossly undercooked bacon and rather sad bits of yogurt. They really need some improvements here. That said -- and we know it requires us to be honest -- we would definitely look forward to returning with fingers crossed for some improvements in the breakfasts. And yes, 33 Main is on the pricey side, but it's high season for Tanglewood -- a very short drive away -- and given the quality here we think it's well worth considering a splurge.

Lenox, Massachusetts, of course is absolutely beautiful so we spent our first day watching the Boston symphony orchestra and Yo-Yo Ma at Tanglewood. We arrived at our bed and breakfast after and were greeted in a friendly manner by Stan, the innkeeper. We were given lots of information in a personalized note and guest book. I can't imagine operating a bed and breakfast during a pandemic but Stan's expertise made for a safe and relaxed experience. A breakfast buffet was included. It was delicious. We sat in the dining room but might try the porch tomorrow morning. The pool is amazing and warm. We took a walk to town this morning where I did a little shopping. Tonight we will go out to dinner and tomorrow we will enjoy another breakfast and leave for a different adventure.

The views from the room were of a school playground and a parking lot (see photos). The pool was adjacent to the cottage but since it was raining I didn't partake. Breakfast was okay, and I appreciated the fresh fruit. All the smaller tables were taken when I got there at 8:30 (late start time, and no coffee in the lobby), and sat at the large table. People were focused on getting food not socializing. Innkeeper was polite. The only hot entree was salmon quiche, and I passed since I don't care for fish in eggs. Nice that they provide "cordials" in the small bar area next to the main sitting room, but no wine. Location in town of Lenox was best part about my stay. I walked to a dinner restaurant and to LENOX COFFEE for a great cappuccino in the morning, since there was only Keurig cups before 8:30 at the inn. At the $356 mid week rate - no Tanglewood that night- it was lower priced than nearby inns.

Very friendly at check-in and answered all my questions during my stay, always with a smile on her face. My room was beautiful. I chose room 25 (Vivian) on the 2nd floor of the main house. While it's a small room, it was cozy and quite lovely. I spent some quiet time writing at the desk, and later enjoyed the fireplace with a Duraflame log provided by the inn. They also provide a free bottle of wine, which was waiting for me in my room. The next morning, hot breakfast was waiting in the dining area downstairs. There were several options, which I appreciate having a choice. The pumpkin French toast casserole, seasoned potatoes, and bacon were superb. A great way to start the day! From the warm welcome upon arrival--complete with a welcome drink, pastries, and brownies--to the impeccable service, every detail feels well thought out. We were a bit apprehensive when we heard about the new ownership, but thankfully, much of the charm remains intact. The bar now uses a Bartesian machine, which makes good cocktails, though I can see it becoming cumbersome if multiple guests arrive at once. Breakfast is always wonderful with a variety of entrées and sides. My only wish? That they bring back the specialty coffee machine--I miss those cappuccinos! Fortunately, their excellent selection of Harney & Sons teas helps make up for it. Already looking forward to our next visit!

The crowd was chatty at first but eventually realized what a show they were missing and all eyes were on Glori and her band. Cocktails are very creative and delicious but quite pricey. The food was tasty- the menu is limited - maybe only 6-7 options. We laughed at the Mini Chicken Schnitzels as a name that you would only find in the Berkshires to describe chicken nuggets. Im sure they were delcious but we went for a cheeseburger and the salmon carpaccio. My husband said that the burger was the best he has had for a long time. Just perfection! The salmon was great too- very finely sliced raw fish with a delicious sauce. I also got a salad which could have been half the size but it was really yummy with parmesan crisps.

The rooms are somewhat charming - a bit dated with older fixtures - but cute. If you are going to Kripalu and don't want to stay on campus, it's a nice alternative. The cons: We have been staying at inns and B&B's for many decades. When a place advertises "breakfast included" it typically means choices for a full breakfast. This really needs to read "continental breakfast included." The homemade muffins were very good, granola and greek yogurt also good (though would have preferred a choice of yogurts as I prefer vegan), some fresh fruit, slices of bread and a bowl of hard boiled eggs was all nice but not what I would call "breakfast included." Also, we noticed immediately that the room we had did not fit the description given to us of our room when we booked. We were told it had a mountain view which it did not. Upon asking about this, the gentleman at the desk kindly acknowledged that in his email communication he had inadvertently mixed up the room descriptions. This was not an issue and the room we had was fine but it would have been nice to have received some token of recognition for this miscommunication.

Every morning, there were different choices for breakfast along with pastries if we wanted. They even had pastries during the day if you wanted an extra treat. Every moment we interacted with anyone, we were greeted with kindness. And a shout out to Lori, who saved us with a recommendation to eat at Alta in Lenox for dinner.
