We needed a quick getaway to someplace fairly close or just a couple of days. I happened on the Hampton Terrace inn, a bed-and-breakfast. Lenox, Massachusetts, of course is absolutely beautiful so we spent our first day watching the Boston symphony orchestra and Yo-Yo Ma at Tanglewood. We arrived at our bed and breakfast after and were greeted in a friendly manner by Stan, the innkeeper. We were given lots of information in a personalized note and guest book. I can't imagine operating a bed and breakfast during a pandemic but Stan's expertise made for a safe and relaxed experience. A breakfast buffet was included. It was delicious. We sat in the dining room but might try the porch tomorrow morning. The pool is amazing and warm. We took a walk to town this morning where I did a little shopping. Tonight we will go out to dinner and tomorrow we will enjoy another breakfast and leave for a different adventure. read more

I stayed for one night in the Sunol room, located in the blue cottage behind the main inn. It was tiny and no sitting area. But the bathroom was fairly roomy and had good water pressure. The views from the room were of a school playground and a parking lot (see photos). The pool was adjacent to the cottage but since it was raining I didn't partake. Breakfast was okay, and I appreciated the fresh fruit. All the smaller tables were taken when I got there at 8:30 (late start time, and no coffee in the lobby), and sat at the large table. People were focused on getting food not socializing. Innkeeper was polite. The only hot entree was salmon quiche, and I passed since I don't care for fish in eggs. Nice that they provide "cordials" in the small bar area next to the main sitting room, but no wine. Location in town of Lenox was best part about my stay. I walked to a dinner restaurant and to LENOX COFFEE for a great cappuccino in the morning, since there was only Keurig cups before 8:30 at the inn. At the $356 mid week rate - no Tanglewood that night- it was lower priced than nearby inns. read more

We recently returned to the Hampton Terrace after staying here about 10 years ago, just have not been back up to the Berkshires. Due to the pandemic, we had no interaction with the inn's owners, which takes away from the experience. The inn is more dated now, but clean. Some Furnishings are in need of refurbishment but comfortable. We enjoyed the room we stayed in which was in the carriage house. It might have been nice if water bottles, coffee pods were restocked and garbage was emptied over the weekend. All in all the experience was lovely and we would return if we came back to Lenox. A more personal experience is definitely preferable. read more

And he stated "don't worry, my wife is a blogger and she'll state it as it is" - I have over 1/2 MILLION readers on Trip Advisor AND an average of 100K hits on Yelp ever 90 days. Consistently. Lack of brain cells if you think that my Naval Academy retired Naval Officer would tell you or your staff anything derogatory about his wife, in a hotel that grossed him out. My boyfriend and I spent three nights here and had a really nice time. It was off season, so the house was rather empty. We got the romantic weekend special, where the third night was half off. One also gets a $30 gift certificate to the nice wine and cheese shop in town. Stan was really nice and made great breakfasts (french toast, eggs and sausage, pancakes). The main house was really nice, and their dog Atticus is also a sweet one. We stayed in the Sunol, which was spacious with a jacuzzi and fireplace. A common area was downstairs with a mini fridge and another fireplace. (One cannot tell so easily, but the Pocahontas - on the website - is smaller than the other rooms in that house.) I would definitely stay here again if I found myself in the Berkshires. read more

My husband and I managed to get the last room available (Pocahontas Room) for our vacation stay in Lenox in the Carriage House. We bumped into the owners in the main house when we got there, but check-ins are all self-service now. The Carriage House is to the rear of the main building. The main floor common area wreaks of moldy smells and we used the outside stairs to get to our room instead. Our room was like a closet with a noisy window A/C unit and extremely tired furnishings and dirty carpet. The floor molding in the bathroom showed water damage and the floors were so saggy the bed sloped downward toward the other side of the room. I got no sleep due to the A/C noise and the fact the bed felt like a hammock (sunk in the middle). The pool deck was dirty and unmaintained. They had recently had a microburst which damaged the pool and rear of the house. It didn't impact us but they didn't let us know until after we had booked and were about to arrive.....In short, way overpriced for a very poor room. Would have been better off in a chain motel. read more

We stayed here recently on our first trip to the Berkshires. We fell in love with the area, and Hampton Terrace is in a prime location within walking distances to local restaurants, shops, etc. As other reviews mentioned, the innkeeper Stan went above and beyond to provide us with very detailed information on things to do in the area, as well as to say hello to us and make us feel welcome at the Inn. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The price was comparable to other inns in the area, however I think that I was expecting more for what we paid. While our room had a fireplace, which was lovely, I have stayed in other bed and breakfasts that had much more to offer for the same price. No robes in room, somewhat out-dated furnishings and plumbing that appeared in need of repair (i.e rust stains in the sink). Perhaps this is in keeping with the "vintage" appeal that many guests like from B&B's, but for me it was somewhat disappointing. While I would recommend this bed and breakfast to friends, I think that next time we will see what else we can find in the Berkshires for the same price. read more

We've been going to the Berkshires with another couple for over 20 years. We've stayed at other B&Bs in the Lennox, Lee area. Because I am disabled, there aren't many places that accommodate a wheelchair. Our favorite inn did not have their accessible room available this summer. Three buildings comprise the Hampton Inn, one of which does have an accessible room available. Our friends therefore booked the accessible room and a nearby room for themselves. The rooms were located the Carriage House. The rooms were okay, nothing special, although our friends were very disappointed with their room. The Carriage House has an entry near the small pool, into a living room area where guests can congregate. I'm sorry, but I can't continue this review - in reality the rooms were disgusting. The first thing I noticed is that our a picture on the wall of our room had a number of dead bugs behind the glass! The frame was bent at the top. No one ever bothered to vacuum and clean the flooring. So the rug was strewn with dirt throughout three days. The bathrooms were not cleaned well and ours had a patch of mold, exposed because a panel on the side of the tub was loose. We complained to the owner, Stan, who told us that his regular house cleaner was away (during tourist season?) and there was a temporary cleaning women responsible for our rooms. Later, Stan told us he had talked to the women about the above issues - but nothing changed. The rug was still not vacuumed. And then he had the nerve to ask that we write good reviews b/c previous occupants of our room had written a horrible review! Was he kidding? And then I pointed to the dead bugs in the main picture, he gave a slight shrug of the shoulder. Stan made no attempt to compensate us in any way. I could go on, like the fact that our "country inn" room windows were several feet from a school playground and children's center that was in use. But, the fact that it was unsanitary is really all you need to know. read more

My wife and I were in desperate need of an escape from New York City and the everyday pressures of life. Having once visited Lennox, MA and staying at the Canyon Ranch we were looking for something with a little more charm. After looking and making calls to what seemed an endless list we selected Hampton Terrace primarily because the owner was just so charming and friendly on the phone. Well with expectations high we made the 2 hour drive up to the Berkshires hoping the weekend would live up to the hype. I am happy to report that for one of those rare times, our visit exceeded expectations. Straight away the Hampton Terrace was located right near town so we really didn't need our car for the rest of the weekend (although we did go exploring) and was near all the cute restaurants and shops. Our accommodations were fabulous, beautifully appointed room, fireplace, linens and full roomy bath. Impecably clean which is big with me. The deal came with a $50 gift card- a nice bonus- to a specialty food shop that I wish I could remember the nameof - that was like a slice of Little Italy and we stocked up on wine and gourmet foods. Breakfast was served in a quaint dining area, and we relaxed in the living room which had an excellent selection of periodicals and books. Best of all was that I slept like a baby, and I had the private time with my girl we so craved. If you are looking for a romantic spot to take your lover, this is it. read more

We took advantage of a Google Offer to stay at this wonderful B&B as part of our mini-honeymoon immediately following our March wedding. During the weeks leading up to our stay, we received a few informative, welcoming emails from Stan, which was thoughtful and helped us get excited for our stay. Upon arrival, Stan showed us the grounds and welcomed us to take advantage of any part of what was offered (including his collection of liqueurs) and also gave us a detailed tour of the room itself (Marion Slocumb King Suite) and all of its amenities. The room itself was lovely, very clean and comfortable, and we loved the hot tub option as well. We only stayed 2 nights and unfortunately were not able to enjoy the complimentary breakfast or other features of the main house as we were exhausted and preferred to keep to ourselves. But I'm sure it would have been lovely! The neighboring town was quiet sine we were in the dead of March, but it was fun to explore. Lee Outlets was also a fun destination for us while we were there. read more

A very nice B&B in Lenox. Stan, the owner, was very welcoming and accommodating. We were initially put into the king suite, which is very nice. However, we wanted something more old fashioned B&B-ish. Stan moved us into a room in the house, eventhough the house was closed for Christmas preparations. Our room was very great (room #2). Some other reviewers have noted that, for the price, you don't get other amenities, such as a robe. Though, I don't think I'd ever walk around my room or the B&B in a robe. So, who cares about robes. Room #2's plumbing was just fine. The breakfast was also nice, but that's the one area I think could have been better. Maybe home baked muffins or a main menu option (pancakes, french toast etc..). HT is a wonderful bed n breakfast in Leonx, MA. Stan, tre owner, provides a combination of NE history and southern charm (he's from Georgia). His staff is excellent, and very client service oriented, led by the manger Amanda. Breakfast each day is served buffet style and offers a wide variety of fresh fruit, breads, jams and jelly, cereal, yogurt, coffee, juice, and a changing hot offering each day (egg dishes, pancakes, french toast, grits, ham, etc.). And warm maple syrup. So delicious! The rooms are clean, and next, and exude New England charm. The pictures are pretty accurate. The Inn is in an excellent location about 4 blocks from downtown historic Lenox. Several nights we walked to the excellent restaurants on Church Street, or had ice cream and nearby Scoop. About 100 yards way are the town tennis courts - which we enjoyed one late afternoon. The property also has a small heated pool - which was perfect and refreshing after an early morning run in the area. The Inn provides free towels for the pool. We look forward to a return visit -perhaps in the fall, and strongly recommend staying here rather that one of the brand name hotels located outside of town. read more

This is a first class bed-and-breakfast. The rooms are elegant, and the breakfast is an ample and varied. A nice touch is the complementary cordial bar, which can be enjoyed in the late evening. The common areas are decorated in turn of the century style, with a grand feeling. The owners and hosts oversee everything, and make sure that the guests are comfortable,and well informed as to the local attractions in events. Conversation at the breakfast table is always lively and interesting, as the guests are lively and interesting. Reservations are required, and I advise you to book early, as this place is in high demand, and quickly sells out. read more

What an awesome place to stay!! I had bought a groupon after trying to figure out where to take my husband for his small birthday getaway. Stan was very hospitable! The room was beautiful and the entire inn had amazing decor. We were surprised to see that there was a pool since we seemed to have missed that on the site! Stan was very helpful with finding places to eat and things to do as soon as I booked the reservation (he had sent out an email). The breakfast every morning was absolutely delicious! Stan was very thoughtful and an amazing host. The Inn offers a great balance between feeling welcome into their home and giving guests privacy. For example, at breakfast you can choose between an 8,6,4 or 2 person tables so you can either be social or have your space. It's also really nice that there are several common rooms. There's a common room in the main house, (in addition to the dining room and bar) as well as a common room in the cottage. Super convenient access to downtown Lenox. Can easily walk to restaurants and shopping. read more

I spent two nights here with my girlfriend in November and had an amazing time. I have no idea what any of the few complaints could be about. The room was great (king suite), the food was great, and Stan was very accommodating and friendly. It's the perfect distance from the little town, and I really can't say enough good things about this place. Definitely worth it to spring for the King Suites! I grew up in Pittsfield, so staying in a B&B in Lenox is a little weird, but it was my husband's birthday at the end of January and we thought it might not be so romantic to stay with my parents. I appreciated Stan's helpfulness and his grits in the morning - amazing! The room had exactly what we wanted (fireplace, jacuzzi, charm). There were normal weird things with it that I'm sure are typical for this type of older building (towels left in our bathroom because there had been water dripping which Stan removed immediately and apologized for, no matches to light our fireplace so we had to call Stan when we returned from dinner at 9:15 to get some - he'd noticed when he toured us but didn't replace them until them). Totally legit, but worth noting. We enjoyed hanging out by the fire while other groups played games and had a lovely breakfast on the porch with snow falling down. If you're looking for a great location, charming old building, and interested innkeepers, go to Hampton Terrace! read more

Wonderful accommodations. Only thing keeping it from a five star is no afternoon tea time. First inn I've ever been in that did not have that feature ! When lunch and dinner is spaced out it is nice to go into the common area and grab a finger sandwich and some coffee or tea. The inn is well kept and Stan was very nice and met all our needs if we had requests. This inn is very quiet and it was refreshing to see no ear plugs in our room. Past inns have had them in our room and we knew we would be disturbed by noise and this inn was the total opposite. It's within walking distance to restaurants in Lenox and that was a plus as well since we had some cocktails at dinner while celebrating our wedding anniversary so it was nice to walk. I'd like to give the caveat that I'm only reviewing Stan's service, as we did not end up staying here. But his service was so impeccable, that I wanted to make note of it. We were looking for a place to stay for a friend's wedding and I came upon the Hampton Terrace website. I contacted Stan to inquire about food options for a vegetarian. Not only did he assure me that a vegetarian's needs would be well taken care of, but he mentioned a discounted rate that our stay would qualify for without being prompted. We, of course, booked the room and I was pleased to receive, in addition to my e-mail confirmation, and e-mail containing some items of interest in the area, some things I might like to know when coming to Lenox, etc. I thought this was a fantastic touch, especially since this would have been our first trip to the Berkshires. Unfortunately, 6 days before we were to arrive in Lenox, my grandmother passed away. I had to travel to assist with the funeral and it became apparent that there was no way we'd be able to make the wedding. My boyfriend immediately called Stan. We e-mailed Stan to confirm the circumstances of our cancellation. Stan's cancellation policy is that he cannot refund cancellations made under 7 days and those made 7 days or more in advance can be refunded only at 85% to recoup his efforts in attempting to rebook on short notice (although you have the option of keeping a non-expiring 100% credit for a future stay there, if you choose). There was some confusion and for some reason my boyfriends two follow up e-mails were not received by Stan. However, when we finally cleared it all up after the fact, Stan refunded our entire deposit in 100% of the amount. I do not mean to promise that this is his standard practice, as his cancellation policy is very clear. He was under absolutely no obligation to do this, and given that he was not able to rebook our room, this definitely represented a monetary loss for him. We opted to request a refun because we have no reason to anticipate visiting the Berkshires in the near future (this trip was for a wedding), but if we ever do get up there, we'll definitely book at Hampton Terrace, and we'll definitely recommend Hampton Terrace to anyone looking for a place to stay. We just visited Lenox, and stayed at this Inn for three nights. We booked late, and ended up with a room in the main house that was a bit too antiquated for our taste. The Inn offers other, more contemporary accommodations, but those rooms were simply sold out at the time of our booking. The location in relationship to downtown Lenox is great. That is a big plus. Coffee, water and teas are available 24/7, breakfast is served at 8:30 am, which may be considered late by early risers. The Innkeeper, Stan, was helpful and accommodating. read more

Their Web page proclaims, "Every day, we provide our clients with a breakfast that puts a Southern twist to the traditional New England breakfast. It may be the best comfort food you ever have!" Alas, it failed to reveal that breakfast didn't start till 8:30 -- too late for me and my son, who were bicycling from NYC to Montreal via New England and needed an early start for our 60-mile ride that day. When I learned this on arriving the previous afternoon and asked the owner if he could move up the start time by a half-hour, he refused, saying it would interfere with his serving his 30 other guests. We passed up his offer for a cold breakfast at 8 a.m. in favor of a hot breakfast in Pittsfield. Needless to say, the owner's unwillingness to bend his timetable left a bad taste. read more

I stayed 2 nights in the Spring of 2011 after an 8 day retreat further South in Western MA. When I arrived I was pretty relaxed but appreciated when I asked Stan, the owner if he knew of any good massage therapists - - he indicated there was one doing an 'in room' massage up stairs for another guest. He worked with me to arrange an 'in room' massage for me the next evening. Overall I loved the property although it was clear the previous winter had not been kind to the Berkshires AND the property. There were many obvious repairs that were needed that had not been attended to in early May - a bit on the early side for HIGH season in the Berkshires. I chose my room (Dexter) based on aesthetics (visible via web site photos) and when all was said and done I'd chosen differently as my room had a few quirks. It was in a 'satellite' building which wasn't a big deal but check about the location of your room if you prefer to be staying in the main house. There was a school with a basketball court adjacent to my window where local teens shot hoops until all hours. If you plan to be in your room on a weekday when school is in session, stay in the main house...the children play right outside the window of the satellite building. A few other quirks including a noisy ceiling fan, unreliable wi-fi and a 'needing repairs' device in the tub were apologized away by the owner. Overall I found my easy going nature made these 'hiccups' easy to take. If you are very particular you may not appreciate a $200+ room with these unique traits. Stan did show me the 'upgrade' rooms which are much more modern (had a recent lift) and have upgraded 'everything' including HUGE hot tubs/soaking baths IN the room. Priced much higher into the high $200's low $300's it seemed like too much of a splurge for 2 nights as a solo traveler. The breakfast as everyone indicated was delicious. Care and attention goes into the selection of the menu but if you are a super foodie you may choose differently. The beauty of the main house (even given it's 'tired' state) is really the gem of the stay. I found the time I spent working and reading in the main house parlor to be REALLY awesome. Watching folks come and go kept me distracted enough from my work to feel 'slightly' entertained. Stan was keen to offer restaurant suggestions - all of which proved to be quality. It's clear the community is tight and sticks together. As part of my visit there was a promotion for my stay that included a $30- gift card to a local wine shoppe. It was offered to me to have the $30 taken off my bill but since I'm an enthusiastic wine appreciator I went for the promo and enjoyed spending much more than $30 at the shop! (nice cross promo!) Overall I appreciated my stay and would recommend it for those who are watching every detail as I tend to. :) read more

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in mid-November, so off-season but not dead as a doornail. I believe most rooms were occupied. I was not aware that the room I had selected (when I registered online) was not in the main house. We stayed in the Peerless Room which is in a converted barn/carriage house that has about 6 additional guest rooms. The main house is a treasure, with beautiful leaded glass windows and a huge front door, nicely decorated and very welcoming. After giving us a bit of a tour, Stan the host brought us to our room. The first thing I noticed upon entering the carriage house was a musty, damp smell. Our room was on the second floor and was spacious and comfortable. Each room has a jacuzzi and gas fireplace. The musty smell is strongest on the ground floor level, and later Stan mentioned plans to tear up the carpet and replace with hardwood floors; this upgrade may eliminate that odor. During the night both my husband and I woke up several times; it was very warm even with the window open. When I mentioned this at breakfast, Stan suggested we adjust the thermostat in the hallway or turn on the AC. Our second night was a bit cooler. Breakfast both mornings was very good; scrambled eggs, grits, assorted cereals and toast, yogurt, fresh fruit; on Sunday morning we had French toast and ham in addition to the other offerings. Endless coffee and oj. One morning we sat with other guests in the big dining room, the second day we sat at a table for two in the little enclosed porch. Stan had many good dining recommendations; we ended up having dinner at Nudel both nights--crazy delicious. The walk up to the main house was made a bit treacherous by the millions of maple leaves in the yard and on the stairs; I feel that when one is in the hospitality business, every detail of the environment should be attended to. I found the grounds (other than the front yard) a bit messy with flotsam and jetsam under the carriage house stairs and behind the house. There is a friendly dog living here, we really enjoyed Atticus and our stay at the Hampton Terrace. read more

So welcoming and a wealth of town knowledge :-) --Before arrival-- Right when I made the reservation, I received a confirmation email and recommendation emails on what to do and where to eat which helped me a great deal in prioritizing what to do for our stay :-) --The Welcome-- We arrived after around 8pm on a Friday, which is after typical check in, and Stan was right there to greet us, help us with our bags and give us a tour. And surprise us with a $30 gift card! --The Decor-- The Hampton Terrace B&B was beautiful. The decor was adorable. I found myself constantly pointing out how cute it was and awesome trinkets that were about the establishment. We stayed in the pocahontas room which was not what we expected because we tend to stay in hotels but so much better! The room was very homey. --Breakfast-- Breakfast was great! Stan and his wife serve a delicious breakfast with plenty of choices (even for a vegan) from fruits to hot entrees, it was very wonderful. --Location-- At the edge of the town's main square, you're 2 blocks away from the action, a block away from delicious food, and surrounded by beauty :-) read more

My husband and I were gifted a weekend stay at the Hampton Terrace Inn with instructions to relax and enjoy. We were charmed by the Inn as soon as we parked in the semi-circular drive and entered the center hall of this elegant, graceful and welcoming property. We had done a little research on line and I have to say, the Inn was more beautiful and gracious than the photos and descriptions suggested. What an exciting treat it is to have your expectations surpassed! Our weekend getaway happened during a blizzard snowstorm weekend and it created a magic backdrop for our experience. The Hampton Terrace Inn has a welcoming living room with a large fireplace that beckons you to sit a while. The warmth of the fire, the well appointed lving room and the Innkeepers attention to our comforts were superb. Lovely music, books, photos, and period furniture surrounded us as we relaxed with a glass of wine our first evening. The wine was a benefit of the complimentary $30 gift card we received with our room to a local wine and cheese shop that was within walking distance. Our first evening was spent in the Spencer room, a soothing and romantic room with a full bath, queen size bed and fireplace. We slept snuggly and comfortably as the wind and snow howled outside our leaded glass windows and the fireplace crackled with warmth. Stan is a detail oriented and thoughtful host and we benefited from his restaurant recommendations and knowledge of local things to do and see. We are avid snowshoers and hikers and found nearby Kennedy Park a delightful way to spend a winter day in 18" of fresh powder snow. There are plenty of opportunities for amusement, whatever your tastes are. Our second night was spent in the Bonner Room, a large, front corner room with fabulous views of the street, a warming fireplace and spacious bathroom (actually huge!). This room has a king size bed and a bit more room to spread out and relax. Each morning we were welcomed with a home made breakfast of great coffee, juices, very fresh fruit and a menu that varied from specialty french toast, scrambled eggs, pancakes, cereal and more. It was fabulous to enjoy the fare and catch up briefly with other guests who were visiting and hear Stan's stories. Our experience was absolutely perfect! I don't normally write reviews but I felt this Inn certainly deserved my taking the time to write one. My mom and I were traveling together and spent one evening in a room that had two beds and a private bath and it worked out perfectly. Cold bottled water was available free of charge...this is nice after a day of traveling!While the TV screens could be larger but the room(s) were nicely appointed and towels were soft and luxurious. Stan, the owner, is very personable and greeted us on our late arrival and gave us a tour of the property and showed us to our room. Breakfast was good and staff friendly. After we checked out Stan had called me to let me know my mom had left her kindle...and we were already at our next destination. Stan made sure my moms kindle was packaged and shipped overnight to our hotel and was superb in the follow up despite him being out of town himself. I have to say my mom and I really enjoyed this B&B and the people that run it. But more important-their level of customer service was exceptional even after we had checked out. Also worthy of noting...the Inn has a great list of suggested restaurants and things to do with their feedback...this was truly helpful in our planning. read more

We will never return because we did not feel welcomed by the staff, it was an awkward energy that made us feel like we were intruding (PS we had ZERO requests for anything) but here is a balanced review. What's AWESOME: 1 - Location, location, location. Can't imagine finding a better situated B&B in Lenox. Super short walk into town where there are restaurants and shops. 2 - Comfortable Main House Shared Living Room Space. Owners allowed guests to hang out in the main space (like most B&Bs) and were generous to put out after-dinner liquors for guests. I'm not a drinker but still appreciated the special touch. 3 - Well thought-out recommendations all written in a binder in the room. Local restaurant recommendations and the owners favorites, nearby museums, theatres, dance companies, and more. Someone took a lot of care to help guests make the most of their stay. WHAT NEEDS IMPROVEMENT: 1 - GUEST ROOM DID NOT COME ACROSS AS CLEAN. Our room was not in main house. The cleaner is missing a lot. This was not at all what we would expect - There were 3 areas never cleaned - 2 areas with dead bugs and the other with a huge chunks of dirt ON THE CARPET. My husband noticed dirt (! that should say something? :)) in the bathroom. 2. GUEST ROOM IN NEED OF UPDATES. Our room was not in main house; Guest room 'feels tired' and in need of update. Carpet looks worn. Bathroom was fine working order (shower, toilet, sink) but definitely not a luxurious feel at all. Awkward space in bathroom - door wouldn't lean shut always swings open unless you physically shut it. 3. SERVICE & FOOD WERE SUB-PAR. Yes I know this is sensitive but I am still sharing it. The biggest reason for the low rating is that we felt the staff was NOT genuinely welcoming. The staff made us feel like (a) they were doing ALL the guests a HUGE favor by being there (b) they didn't enjoy their jobs. Every morning they rushed everyone to get the plates back into the kitchen, and they very rarely smiled (c) the food was no better than a Courtyard Marriott. I'm not kidding. We cherish the opportunity to visit B&Bs all over and connect with the owners. Usually you feel the love that other owners pour into the local breakfast experience. That is not the case here. what a disappointment. One main hot dish (no choice in the morning like sunny eggs or pancakes) & the food had no great flavor. One day it wasn't fully cooked which could be an accident - but no one really cared. Regular store-bought bread (yet they could have chosen to partner with a local bakery), no little muffins or sweets, no local jams, no personality. My girlfriend and I recently escaped NYC for an amazing weekend at Hampton Terrace. As soon as we walked in the door there was an immediate feeling of hospitality. Stan and Susan, owners of Hampton Terrace, provided us with fantastic restaurant recommendations and great itineraries for daily activities. Each morning breakfast is prepared in the main house and it's something that should not be missed. Hampton Terrace is located in an ideal location. It's within walking distance to most restaurants and shops in Lenox. The room was very well taken care of and the beds were very comfortable. Our room had a nice fire place which was very enjoyable in the evenings. Everything about the weekend was perfect and we hope to get back to Hampton Terrace in the very near future. read more

The Hampton Terrace is my favorite B&B I've ever stayed at. It is big enough to feel like you have some privacy, but offers wonderful common areas (fireplaced living room, lounge, dining room) and amazing breakfasts. Stan is so welcoming and helpful. Between the Main House, the Carriage House and the Cottages, there really is an option for everyone, and the pool is such a treat in the summer. We keep going back and discovering more to do around the area, while we revisit our favorite spots. Our go-to-get-away. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here on Memorial Day weekend while attending a wedding in Lenox. We had a fantastic stay, and really enjoyed the charm of this beautiful historic home. The owner, Stan, was very accommodating, and made us welcome. He also provided us with a very detailed list of restaurant recommendations, which was extremely helpful. We stayed in the Boner Room, the original master bedroom of the main house. The wood burning fireplace was a fantastic touch (especially on a surprisingly cold Memorial Day weekend in the 40's!). The bathroom needed some updates for sure, but it was great to have such a large space to get ready. We would both highly recommend this Bed & Breakfast to a friend, and we look forward to hopefully returning some day. read more

We had our 6th stay at Hampton last weekend. Once again, we were sad to leave. It's a great place for a long weekend!

We visited Lenox, MA as one of the stops in our New England fall foliage honeymoon. This small town was one of our favorite visits. We are not huge fans of B&B's, but our travel agent assured us this place was different. She couldn't have been more right. We stayed at the Hampton Terrace for only one night, and we really wish we would have stayed there for half of our 10 day trip! We were very impressed by the main house, it was very well kept and held so much history. Very cozy too whether the fireplace is lit or not. We were also very impressed with the enormous private king suite we had booked. It was equipped with a fireplace, jacuzzi tub, separate bathroom with smaller tub/shower combo, huge comfy bed, even a small kitchen area. It was pretty much like having a studio apartment. The owners, Stan and Susan, were a pleasure to meet. We enjoyed their company while sitting around the fire drinking some wine before we headed out for dinner. They gave us a great recommendation for a local restaurant with good steaks - Prime Steakhouse. Very yummy. And the next morning Stan had cooked up a killer breakfast, complete with homemade biscuits. Delicious! This place was so memorable, we will be sure to stay here again the next time we find ourselves in the Berkshires. read more

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Hampton Terrace B&B for two nights, from July 16th to July 18th in the pocahontas room. My first impressions with the grounds were that it was in a gorgeous area, and looked as gorgeous as I imagined it from the pictures on their facebook page and website. Inside the mansion, I was a bit surprised by the overwhelming musty smell but I think it was from a mix between the air conditioner and the smell that usually accompanies old houses. Stan greeted us and promptly gave us a tour of the entire grounds, beyond just a normal "here's the dining room, here's your room key" routine that you might get in other inns and hotels. It was obvious that he was very friendly and accommodating to his guests from the get-go. The room itself was very lovely - the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was pleasure along with the jacuzzi tub and the housekeeping did a great job in cleaning up the room which is also something you can't take for granted anymore in hotels that you stay in. It was great to be staying next to so many great locations to eat and shop in Lenox. Their black dog Atticus is adorable and I wish I could have seen more of him! Lastly, breakfast was very delicious - the southern grits were to die for. All in all, you had a lot to choose from to eat and it was a pleasant experience. A great place to stay - perhaps we will be back sooner than later so my husband and I can finally experience Tanglewood together. :) Thanks again for everything, Stan! read more

Just checked out of this lovely bed and breakfast, where we stayed to celebrate my mother-in-law's 85th birthday. The house is large, open, and comfortable, and Stan's home-cooked breakfasts were delicious. We "retired" after dinner out with after dinner drinks at the bar in the house, which was a lovely way to end a relaxing day in and around Lenox. read more

We just returned from three days in Lenox, MA, staying at this exceptional B&B. Stan and his wife Susan were very gracious hosts, and they had anticipated all our needs. Stan welcomed us on arrival and provided us with detailed information: breakfast time and menu, WIFI info, temperature controls, etc. And I will say our breakfasts were delicious and the accomodations first rate. Before our arrival they emailed us information regarding local restaurants and things to do in the area, each of which had their personal commentary, often based on feedback from previous guests. I mistakenly left behind some clothing -- it arrived at my home 2 days later. We are definitely looking forward to returning here. read more

After a visit in October and another in January, Hampton Terrace Inn is now the first inn I'd consider for a weekend in the Berkshires. It's a lovely inn within walking distance of Lenox shops and restaurants, and a short drive to Tanglewood and other attractions. We've stayed in the new building and the old one--both to our satisfaction--but I think I prefer the old one, simply because it has more character. Both buildings are decorated in a way that I like (homey but not too flowery). In both rooms our bed was huge and super comfy, with sheets so soft I wondered if they were organic. The breakfast was good, in ways that most people like (French toast one day, eggs the other), but I'm a bit of a foodie and a health nut so I would have dialed the hot breakfast a little healthier, if possible. With that said, they did have healthier (if cold) options on hand, and I did enjoy the food we ate. Finally, I'm a stickler for cleanliness and have yet to see anything that disappoints me. In fact, we rolled back the rug to do yoga and found not a crumb underneath! The whole place was very clean and well-kept. Last but not least, we found the innkeeper an attentive, responsible person who was willing to work with us when a situation regarding the scheduling of our visit arose. Two thumbs up! read more
