The staff proved to be uniformly pleasant people, always helpful. The public spaces -- the dining areas and especially the recently refurbished parlor rooms which are stocked with drinks and hors d'oeuvres in the late afternoon -- are a genuine delight. So much is good here. But we have given the inn four stars not five because of the disappointing breakfasts. We were served very overcooked casseroles, overcooked scrambled eggs, grossly undercooked bacon and rather sad bits of yogurt. They really need some improvements here. That said -- and we know it requires us to be honest -- we would definitely look forward to returning with fingers crossed for some improvements in the breakfasts. And yes, 33 Main is on the pricey side, but it's high season for Tanglewood -- a very short drive away -- and given the quality here we think it's well worth considering a splurge.

The Cornell Inn is simply and easily the cleanest place I've ever stayed in the world (and I've stayed in 5 star hotels like Intercontinental Istanbul, Intercontinental Los Angeles, Ritz Carlton Central Park South, and Trump International NYC). The suite was large and elegant and comfortable and everything in it was absolutely spotless. The staff were kind and helpful, eager to swap out the complimentary bottle of cabernet (?) for my wife's preferred chardonnay, and provide us with several brownies. Breakfasts were very good. I really don't have a single complaint, can't wait to stay here again in the future!

We stay at bed and breakfasts because of the breakfast, not the beds. The options were bagel and cream cheese, yogurt with fruit or a veggie fritatta. When I saw the menu I flipped it over because I thought, "this can't be it." But it was, that is what 500 bucks a night got you. A 2x2 inch square of cold veggie fritatta. They tell you you can have all the sides you want so we ordered the fruit salad(grapes, watermelon and a few blueberries),potatoes and toast. Toast never came and the potatoes were also cold and were definitely from a bag of frozen potatoes. Management needs to level up the food game. It's just not acceptable at this price point. I can't fathom what people were raving about re the online reviews for breakfast. The second morning, we skipped breakfast at the Inn and went to Haven cafe. They really know how to do breakfast at Haven. Do yourself a favor and go there instead. Also, if you are staying in the Anne Macy suite, be prepared that it is right along a busy street so the traffic noise might be disruptive to those who are light sleepers. It didn't bother us, but something to be aware of for those who are sensitive to noise. I don't think I'd recommend this inn to friends or family.

We arrived for a Tanglewood concert, happy that Garden Gables is so close to the concert grounds and within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants in Lenox. Some in our party stayed in lovely rooms in the cottages apart from the main house; others were in a very comfy and spacious three-room suite (#12 if you want to know). There are two bedrooms in the suite, one with a queen bed, the other with twins. Both have fine mattresses and lots of quiet AC, and of course everything was spotlessly clean. The suite even has its own private deck with views of the pool - intriguing, no? The only downside: the suite is on the second floor accessed only by a staircase. The grounds are beautiful and include table and chair groupings under shady trees. There are lots of chairs by the pool, and the dining areas include inside and outdoor seating. The breakfast, which comes with the rooms, proved delicious, freshly prepared with a good selection of main dishes (omelets, pancakes, eggs Benedict, etc.) and sides. Everyone is friendly and eager to help, and we thoroughly enjoyed our unhurried time. There are lots of pros here, so what about the cons? Well, we mentioned the stairs. And yes, Tanglewood weekends can get a bit pricey, but that's the same everywhere around Lenox in the summer. Garden Gables is definitely worth it, in our view.

The crowd was chatty at first but eventually realized what a show they were missing and all eyes were on Glori and her band. Cocktails are very creative and delicious but quite pricey. The food was tasty- the menu is limited - maybe only 6-7 options. We laughed at the Mini Chicken Schnitzels as a name that you would only find in the Berkshires to describe chicken nuggets. Im sure they were delcious but we went for a cheeseburger and the salmon carpaccio. My husband said that the burger was the best he has had for a long time. Just perfection! The salmon was great too- very finely sliced raw fish with a delicious sauce. I also got a salad which could have been half the size but it was really yummy with parmesan crisps.

The rooms are somewhat charming - a bit dated with older fixtures - but cute. If you are going to Kripalu and don't want to stay on campus, it's a nice alternative. The cons: We have been staying at inns and B&B's for many decades. When a place advertises "breakfast included" it typically means choices for a full breakfast. This really needs to read "continental breakfast included." The homemade muffins were very good, granola and greek yogurt also good (though would have preferred a choice of yogurts as I prefer vegan), some fresh fruit, slices of bread and a bowl of hard boiled eggs was all nice but not what I would call "breakfast included." Also, we noticed immediately that the room we had did not fit the description given to us of our room when we booked. We were told it had a mountain view which it did not. Upon asking about this, the gentleman at the desk kindly acknowledged that in his email communication he had inadvertently mixed up the room descriptions. This was not an issue and the room we had was fine but it would have been nice to have received some token of recognition for this miscommunication.

The Devonfield Inn far exceeded our expectations. If you're looking for quiet, cozy, and…read morecomfortable with a ton of old world charm, look no further. This place has it all! Location? Minutes away from the Lee Premium Outlets, historic downtown Lenox, and enough little shops and restaurants to keep you busy and well fed. (Ask about "Doug's Circle Tour" if you're interested in exploring the area and visiting some really unique places) Your Hosts? Doug and Jim are the owners of this magical B&B and will go out of their way to accommodate and assist you in having a truly memorable experience. It is obvious that they love what they do and it shines through in their meticulous attention to every detail. Be sure to get down to the dining room each morning where they host an incredible breakfast. Jim is a topnotch baker and Doug's skills as a host are impeccable. My wife and I are Executive Chefs who own a catering company and we were thoroughly impressed with the entire dining experience. Plus it was nice to small talk with the other dining room guests who had nothing but great things to say about their experiences as well. The Property? Beautiful, historic, and brimming with colonial allure. Set on a sprawling 36 acres of land, you will find plenty of outdoor activities such as hiking, snow-shoeing, and crosscountry skiing to keep you busy during your winter stay, and even more adventures to embark on during the warmer months with guided kayak and canoe tours! It is simply a slice of heaven nestled snug in the Berkshires. The Inn? Take a step back in time and prepare to be awed by the beauty and history of the magnificent Devonfield Inn. Doug and Jim have succeeded in pairing the charm of 19th century ambience with the modern creature comforts of home. If you enjoy a bit of history, take the tour of the Inn and you may be surprised what you learn. Each room is unique and well appointed. We stayed in the Penthouse Suite on the third floor and had total privacy. Our room was quite large and offered a living room, bathroom with double vanity and a gorgeous two person whirlpool tub, and a huge bedroom with a gas fireplace, massive closets, and a sitting area with desk should you feel inspired to pen your latest memoir. Our only complaint about the room was that we didn't have more time to spend in it! If you took the time to read this lengthy review, I appreciate it. I wouldn't spend the time to write this if I wasn't truly impressed. (trust me, I could keep going...) Should you decide to stay at the Devonfield, you will not be disappointed. Thank you Doug and Jim for such an amazing time. We will definitely be back to visit! I may even tickle the ivories on that beautiful piano in the living room next time! Cheers!

Doug and Jim go above and beyond with their hospitality always with a smile and friendly gesture. Jim's breakfast desserts are phenomenal and the Happy Hour with live music is superb with Doug and Jim both lending their voices to entertain guests in collaboration with a pianist that truly brings back the concept of Parlor music into the 21st century. The musical ambiance at breakfast is also reminiscent of my own playlists, with a mix of classical, new age, and soft instrumental listening. The historic inn retains much of its charm with original details throughout - truly a step into New England country charm. My partner, now fiancée, and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and it will forever be memorable as our engagement destination. We are looking forward to returning for many years to come!
