West Stockbridge is just a few miles from Stockbridge as well as many other things to do & explore in the area. There are several restaurants, an ice cream store and coffee roaster within walking distance of the Inn. Our room was lovely (Tanglewood room) on the first floor - which was nice with our dog. Every room has a patio/balcony where you can sit out and have coffee, wine or read. The innkeepers were so nice & have thought of just about everything. From bathrobes to dog biscuits. It's non-contact check-in, checkout & breakfast. Breakfast is left in your room the day before. Milk/juice, yogurt, fruit/scone or quiche, pastries. And really good coffee/machine - from the local coffee roaster. The grounds are beautiful with gardens. There is a short path in back into the woods - but as John (innkeeper) said - beware of poison ivy. There was also a neat trail nearby that John told us about, with unique sculptures to discover along the way.

The common spaces are excellent for both larger groups and more intimate conversations. The sunsets seen from the dining room's picture windows were fantastic. We were a large family reunion who the hosts graciously allowed to take over the entire inn. We were impressed with the kitchen and dining areas as well as the separate breakfast area. The bar was certainly a hit! Lastly, the location is great for winter sports, summer hiking, and antiquing. We'd love to return!

The pleasant atmosphere of the Inn was graced by a pleasant hostess and a rolling set of breakfast items set to please the vegetarian souls of NPR listening intelligencia as they gather to hold another rally against capitalism in their posh Nike shoes and bold American Eagle Outfitter dress down wear. Because let's be honest, looking poor never quite goes out of style. Seriously, regarding the inn, it's proof that peace can be found on a late September evening. Our room was super charming -- the electric fireplace got a lot of use -- and the bed was extremely comfortable (I'm seven months pregnant and slept better in the bed here than I've been sleeping at home!) I also loved the thoughtful little touches, like the coffee and tea station in the dining room that included homemade cookies and a little bowl of chocolates for guests to dip into in the afternoons/evenings. Breakfast was excellent and came in courses, which was a fun novelty. Also, the elderly black lab in residence is a sweetheart (very unobtrusive and quiet, as befits a hospitality professional, but also a very polite receiver of enthusiastic head-petting for those so inclined). I've been actively recommending the Wainwright Inn to my friends and family, and it completely deserves the five stars on Yelp. (My only tiny criticism: I wish they offered actual shampoo and conditioner, instead of the combination two-in-one stuff, which left my hair pretty fried and hard to untangle. If you have much hair you should definitely bring your own conditioner to avoid my fate!)

The homemade muffins were very good, granola and greek yogurt also good (though would have preferred a choice of yogurts as I prefer vegan), some fresh fruit, slices of bread and a bowl of hard boiled eggs was all nice but not what I would call "breakfast included." Also, we noticed immediately that the room we had did not fit the description given to us of our room when we booked. We were told it had a mountain view which it did not. Upon asking about this, the gentleman at the desk kindly acknowledged that in his email communication he had inadvertently mixed up the room descriptions. This was not an issue and the room we had was fine but it would have been nice to have received some token of recognition for this miscommunication.

We went at the end of August which means the summer students who usually staff restaurants in the Berkshires went back to school. These servers who served me seemed to be new hires and were still learning. So, I am giving them a break. I will surely be back!

Our first B&B in decades and it was an excellent option to staying in one of the many local motels…read more  The home is wonderfully decorated, full of country antiques.  The King Bed Suite is right off the kitchen and the sleeping was extremely comfortable.  We had the home to ourselves, so it was perfectly quiet.  Bathroom modern and excellent hot shower.  We had a minor issue with powering up a CPAP machine, and the owner promptly showed up and it ended up being our fault using the wrong connecting wiring (computer wire instead of CPAP wire).  She was readily available and brought over goodies for breakfast daily, including home made delicious muffins, fresh fruit salad etc.  Usually she prepares hot breakfasts when home has more guests.  We were her first guest of the season!  I was singing at Tanglewood, and this inn is right next door.  Also very accessible to Lenox by car and by walking.  Would definitely return to Eastgate B&B.  Highly recommend!
