This is a quiet spot to relax but it's a short walk to Main Street where you can enjoy a little more activity. The owners, Maureen & Joe are extremely friendly and helpful to visitors who aren't familiar with the area. The guest rooms are very welcoming and comfortable which made us feel as if we were transported back in time to grandmas house. Our breakfast was a buffet of pastries, yogurt, fresh fruits, quiche, sausage and pancakes . There was juice and fresh hot coffee and tea which was served it most beautiful tea cups that I wish I had taken a pic of. Oh and there's a great little pool in the backyard! read more

We returned there after about 25 years for a recent visit. Lenox is still great and so is this place. The missing aspect is the poetry, which was the theme of the place all Those years ago. It made the inn different and set it apart from all the other b and bs. That said - the current owners are the most delightful hosts anyone could ask for. The food was very good and the place is updated in helpful ways without sacrificing its charm. Aside from that like I said Lenox is great and this place is an easy walk into town. read more

We stopped here for an overnight along our travels. The Inn Keepers Joe & Maureen are lovely and welcoming. We were greeted to warm mulled cider and some cookies. The Garden Room was perfect, beautiful, clean and comfortable. Our stay included breakfast, which was gourmet and absolutely delicious. There are many spots to curl up with a book and enjoy the lovely home. As an added bonus, they have a food truck for offsite events. We would definitely return, should our travels bring us back. read more

This is a LOVELY place run by smiling people who are genuinely eager to please in all aspects -- small to large. Some casual Yelp readers might see four stars (hell, the place deserves a constellation) but should also see that those reviews were given in 2014 when a different set of people were running the Inn. The current owners, Maureen and Joe Corcoran (and their most amiable staff of younguns) do everything to make visitors comfortable, without, I might add, any fake "professional friendliness," or fawning over people. If you want to sit and read in peace in the parlor or on the porch (there's a great selection of books and my wife and I are biblio-snobs) you can do so in perfect serenity. But Maureen might appear at your elbow and genially ask if you need more water or would like a cup of tea. I said yes to the second and a teapot full of choice Earl Grey -- my drink -- appeared quickly. Our room was well-appointed, everything was clean, neat, tidy. Seriously plush towels; very hot water in profusion. And (it's July) a cosmically effective AC to adjust to one's liking. My wife and I are light sleepers, and on the second night of our stay, the inn was full, but human noise did not disturb us. The night before, we got a paper menu to choose what we wanted for breakfast and to pick what time we wanted to come to the dining room: ample choices, familiar and unusual, lots of hot coffee, ice water, and good cooking. Maureen has a culinary background, and it shows. But what impressed us most was the genuine hospitality and friendliness -- never obtrusive but so genuine -- that many places lack. Had an amazing stay here for a weekend! The bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept on, the hosts helped my partner and I out with any questions and even provided a picnic blanket and bug repellant which we forgot to pack for Tanglewood. AND they put sweet treats out for dessert each night. The included breakfasts were also delicious and they accommodated my dietary restrictions easily. Would not recommend anything more! read more

We had a wonderful stay at the Brook Farm Inn. Our family rented out the carriage house to accommodate 3 couples who traveled to Lenox for a family celebration. My husband and I stayed in the "Shadowood Evergreen" room in the carriage house which we found to be very cozy even though spacious. The room was very clean, beautiful, charming, quiet and the king sized bed was very comfortable. We also enjoyed using the sizable whirlpool bath in the evening, which added to the overall relaxing experience we had at the inn. The owners of this inn were welcoming, accommodating and attentive. They are fabulous hosts and clearly want to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. There was apparent attention to detail: fresh flowers in your room, a table set for breakfast with an option of outdoor dining available, beautifully landscaped grounds, and a delicious breakfast cooked for you by Maureen (the owner) and delivered to your room with the option to eat in the main house. The inn is in a convenient location as well- a short walk to downtown Lenox, Tanglewood and hiking trails. We enjoyed our time at Brook Farm Inn- it's an example of what a B&B experience should be! My spouse and I spent a few days in the Berkshires last week and enjoyed some lovely meals (yay Alta, yay Patisserie Lenox!) but the best food we had was outside on the gorgeous deck of the Brook Farm Inn in Lenox. Lovely, fresh, expertly prepared breakfasts of velvety scrambled eggs, scrumptious quiche, crispy, savory sausage and breakfast breads that broke down the resolves of the most carb conscious of us. And oh, the setting for that deck. The Brook Farm Inn is nestled almost in its own forest. It is an old property, acquired when people bought land in quantity. The effect is almost like being on your own estate. The location couldn't be more convenient for walking to town, but the rural setting back from the road meant dark, quiet nights. The experience at The Brook Farm Inn is quintessential New England, all quilts and quirks, with charm galore. Apparently, Innkeepers Maureen and Joe are new to the game, but they don't miss a step supplying superb services and all the special touches that make inn life pleasant, including late afternoon snacks of home baked cookies and cheese and crackers. There is always ice water to fill your bottles and we especially appreciated the guest pantry where we could grab a three o'clock cup of coffee. The guest pantry also has an ice maker and a with refrigerator to store leftovers You can have your breakfast in your room, get a picnic basket for a Tanglewood outing--which we didn't do--or have a cocktail delivered to your rocking chair on the porch--which we did do. My wife and I recently stayed at this Bed & Breakfast and we were extremely disappointed. When we checked in, we were told by Robert that Phil and Linda, the owners were on vacation so he checked us in. Robert showed us the room and pointed out the glasses of sherry he had poured for us. Once we left, we noticed a dead bug right next to the glasses. The room and bathroom were okay, nothing exceptional. The bed and bathroom were clean. The biggest disappointment was the breakfast. According to the website, it references to their breakfast as gourmet. It was the farthest thing from that. There was a bowl of cut fruit, a quiche, dried out bread for toast and a few danishes. As I see in another review, there was no creme brûlée french toast. Coffee was just okay. I expected much more. When we grabbed the glass plates that were set at our table, we noticed they were dirty, so we wiped them clean before getting out food. When I rested my arms on the table, i noticed that the table was dirty, so i wiped with the white napkin. The white napkin was not white after i wiped the table. We are not sure if the breakfast was disappointing because the owners were out of town, maybe. We do not recommend especially for the price we paid. Not worth it. read more

My wife and I just returned from a three-day, two-night stay here. The owners and staff were very friendly and accommodating. When we first arrived, there was a hand-written note and two small glasses of sherry welcoming us in our room. Downstairs were tea, chocolate chip cookies and warm scones fresh from the oven. (They serve tea each afternoon at 4:00.) The breakfast was delicious! Among the standard selection of juices, coffee and tea were bowls of fresh fruit, granola, warm sliced bread, homemade coffee cakes, fruit compotes, assorted egg dishes, and other goodies. (When we raved about their crème brûlée french toast, the owners gave us a copy of the recipe.) The grounds are green and nicely landscaped; fresh flowers abound. The back yard features a small swimming pool and a shaded hammock for lazy afternoons. We stayed in one of the smaller rooms for our first visit, but they let us peek into some of the other rooms briefly between guest check-out/check-in, and the ones we saw were quite lovely. Our room was clean and fresh--not a whiff of smoke, dust or anything else. The entire house is decorated tastefully and elegantly. Be sure to check out the pictures on their website. We'll be back next summer for sure! Probably sooner than that, as the foliage is spectacular in the autumn. Heck, we may even head out there in the winter for a couple days of snowshoeing. read more

My husband and I spent two nights at the Brook Farm Inn last month to hang out in the Berkshires and attend Wait Wait Don't Tell Me at Tanglewood. Phil, Linda, and Robert were all very pleasant, knowledgeable, and friendly. They made us feel at home right away and gave us great recommendations for sightseeing and hiking. We appreciated little touches like the welcome letter and two glasses of sherry in our room. If we hadn't gone out for sightseeing so much, we would have hung out more in the library, by the pool, or in the hammock. The B&B itself is very cute and clean. The breakfast buffet is from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. It features an entree (we had creme brulee french toast our first morning and an egg frittata on our second), granola, yogurt, bread, English muffins, fruit, coffee, tea, and juices. There is also a pantry with a Keurig, an ample collection of coffee and tea, cookies, and a refrigerator for guests to store food and drink. We decided to walk to Tanglewood from the Brook Farm Inn with our picnic basket (taking West St rather than Hawthorne St to have a sidewalk, per Robert's recommendation). One thing I'd improve: the wifi signal wasn't very strong in our room (the Victorian Room). read more

What an delight! Just passing through Lenox on a bit of a road trip, but made a reservation at Brook Farm Inn to ensure I had a great night on the road - and I did! The historic house is fabulous: clean, beautifully decorated, and perfectly situated to allow you to enjoy Lenox. Breakfast was really yummy, and our hosts were affable, charming, and dedicated to the details. One of the best parts? The hot water on the third floor was powerful and really hot (which isn't always the case at small inns). Will I stay there again? Ab-so-lutely! read more

I just spent several nights at the Brook Farm Inn while attending some concerts at Tanglewood (June 2010). I was very pleased with my stay and note the following standouts: 1) Excellent proximity to Tanglewood. Literally down the road from the back entrance. 2) Owners (Phil and Linda) are very friendly and knowledgeable about area events. Phil was especially easy to talk with and recommended an excellent hike in a local nature conservatory. 3) The facility and breakfast are what one would expect from a quality B&B. The room and outdoor pool were spotless and the owners put together a detailed welcome package with a detailed history of the property and even two glasses of sherry as a little welcome surprise. Nice touches. If pressed for a criticism, the only thing I can say is the television included in the room had seen better days. It had apparently been dropped and displayed some pretty obvious cracks in the case. It ever so slightly detracted from an otherwise beautiful room. Overall: Excellent and would definitely recommend. read more

Cons: The decoration needs to be updated --pinkish walls, older wallpaper, etc. I could hear the person upstairs moving around at 4:30 am due to the creaking floors. This was rather annoying. Rooms are ok. There was a fireplace we thought we could use (in our room) but they are not used till October. We would have liked to know this. read more

Enjoyed our babymoon at Brook Farm Inn earlier this fall. We booked the Tanglewood suite- on the 2nd floor of the smaller back building (rather than in the main house). The suite was incredibly spacious and immaculate. One of us was also delighted by the glass of sherry awaiting our arrival and the hand written welcome note. Phil, Linda and Robert were kind and welcoming; Robert oriented us to our lodgings, and Phil chatted us up over breakfast. The best features of the suite were the large size, especially large size bathroom with large whirlpool tub, and the 2 fireplaces. Did I mention how clean it was? There were a couple features that could use updating in the suite: the sofa in the sitting room, which was not even comfortable to sit on, and the DVD player in the bedroom did not work at all (nor the backup DVD player that was apparently installed when the first stopped working). The big house had several amenities worth noting- hot breakfast daily, 4pm tea daily, ample books, games and DVDs for lending, and the sitting areas near the fireplace. There is also the option to arrange a massage in the back room of the big house- payment is easy, as it can be added onto your bill for the inn. The inn is located quite close to downtown Lenox, where there are a few restaurants, and close to many hiking options. The cost of the Tanglewood suite was such that this will have to be a once-in-a-lifetime visit, but we enjoyed it while it lasted! read more

We went to Brook Farm Inn for an overnight in October - it was the perfect New England Inn experience. Our room was very charming with a working fireplace, which we enjoyed after a night downtown of dinner and drinks. It took about 10 minutes to walk from the Inn to downtown Lenox, which was a huge plus! The staff were all attentive and friendly, and the Innkeeper was very helpful and informative, with recommendations of what to do nearby. I'd gladly go back and recommend it to anyone traveling to the area. read more

Very nice house with lovely hosts. Perfect place to stay as it really kicks off being in the historic area with great fall colors. Our room was very clean but, as noted by another guest in a review, the TV should be replaced. Breakfast was good but the signature crème brûlée french toast is better suited for a dessert. I expected to enjoy a great cup of java, but was surprised that it tasted like a watered down "Bunn" flavor instead of fresh, ground, and strong. I may come back but I'd get a lower priced room, and may slip in my own espresso maker. There Wifi was very difficult to receive in our room. read more

A Lenox Gem. Brook Farm Inn, right in the center of Lenox on Hawthorne Street, a wooded road which takes you to the back entrance of Tanglewood is a gem. Its new owners, Angela Lomato and John Nelson, have made an excellent property even better. Our room had a new wing chair next to the small sofa so we could sit separately and read or chat. Angela attended to our every request with understand and grace. She even got us a jar of cookies that we like for the room. Extra hangers came in a flash. She has introduced hot steel-cut oatmeal for the delicious breakfast buffet. We have stayed at the inn for two decades and think it is better than ever. Angela and John have made our old favorite haunt shine. Come and see how vibrant the place has become under their thoughtful management. read more

I was passing through the Lee/Lenox area on business and needed to make a last minute reservation. Angela, one of the innkeepers, was extremely pleasant over the phone and very accommodating. When I arrived, I was greeted by Angela and Robert, the manager, and given a tour of the gorgeous property. I stayed in the Garden View Room, which is quaintly decorated and spacious, with a large private bath and closet. It was well beyond my needs and expectations. Although I only stayed for one night, I wish I could've stayed longer. This would be a great place for an anniversary trip to the Berkshires. My husband and I came here for two nights on a Winter Lover's Package, and we enjoyed our stay very much. The Inn is close to many areas for winter activities such as snowshoeing, but unfortunately a bit far from the X-C ski centers. Our room was clean and comfortable, if somewhat small given the price. The breakfast was really outstanding for one morning and only barely surpassing continental-style for the other. The owners were hospitable and it seems that they have many return guests. They know the town and the area well, and they serve a lovely tea with excellent scones in the afternoons. The library is well-stocked and one could easily spend all day just in the B&B -- but with the Berkshires right outdoors, why would you? Overall, we had a lovely stay and were happy with our package, which included dinner in town and tickets to the Norman Rockwell museum, but the regular price might make us look around for a B&B with value for us in the future. If you're coming to spend most of your time in and around a relaxing spot, this might be for you! read more

Nice, but would not come back. Food was mediocre and the "heated" pool was 68 degrees. No little touches like I've had at other B&Bs like bottles of water in the room and homemade snacks or little chocolates. Also, we switched rooms after we first went into our booked room and when we were checking out I was told I'd be charged $35 to clean the first room because "there was mascara on the pillow case." I don't even wear mascara!!! I understand since I pulled the sheets back and used the bathroom once in the first room that I would be charged a bit for cleaning, but $35 seems a bit much and the mascara thing was a blatant lie. Will never go back. read more

Such a great find! I stayed here for one night with my mom, sister, and family friend, and we all were completely charmed. As soon as we walked in we were offered tea and scones in front of the fireplace (very welcome on a winter afternoon!), and the scones were to die for. The owners are welcoming and attentive, genuinely interested in making sure you have a comfortable stay. The building itself is a beautiful old Victorian, and our room was a suite with a fireplace and enough beds for 4--not to mention the handwritten welcome, glasses of sherry, and bedside book waiting for us! Breakfast was delicious (amazing banana chocolate chip muffins, plus they refilled the coffee constantly so it never ran out). Linda and Phil are totally knowledgeable about all the area attractions, which was especially helpful during the off-season. I'd love to find an excuse to go back! read more

I have been going to Brook Farm Inn for twenty years--on my birthday. It's a gift I give to myself (or my husband gives to me). Before I settled on BFI, I visited eight other Inns in the area, some with very high ratings. No place compares in terms of comfort, cleanliness (especially!), hospitality, charm (tea and scones at 4), food, and just plain old-fashioned relaxation. It feels like home, but better. We stayed 2 nights on a lovely October weekend. Positives: We stayed in the back house suite. The room was large and nicely appointed, and very quiet. Gas fireplace was a great touch! Little frig in the room was perfect. The Inn is a short 10 min walk from the center of Lenox -- perfect location. Negatives: On Saturday, breakfast was fabulous; we loved the oatmeal, and the fruit was fresh and delicious. On Sunday it was leftovers -- the oatmeal was Saturday's oatmeal that they saved and microwaved. There were no hard boiled eggs -- we were told they were "all gone", but we were the first people to breakfast! We were then informed that "there are eggs in the casserole"! We did not find the hosts as pleasant as other reviewers. As a Berskshire B+B, the technology isn't quite up to snuff -- the wifi was intermittently on and then off and then on again; the room TV was from the 1990s although they did have cable. Net: Would not recommend. Maybe this is all you get in the Berkshires. read more
