Well this is a review for the new restaurant Rare297. Located downstairs in the Hotel. When we went the restaurant had been open for 5 days. the $12 drink prices were very good. The chopped salad was a bit salty. The NY strip steak was a bit overcooked. The pasta seafood fra diavolo was very good. Our server David was amazing. Courteous n attentive.

    Let there be (ambient) light.

Some other reviewers have said, "Pittsfield is not where you really want to stay when you're in The Berkshires." I have lived in Southern Berkshire County for 23 years, so I know the truth of that. However, if you do have to stay in Pittsfield as I just did you can do no better than Hotel on North. It's funky, unique, and you're in the center of...umm...everything? Ok, while Pittsfield may not have the elegance of other Berkshire locations it does make up for it in...umm...urban funk. Sure, you'll see some unsavory types in the area, and some storefronts are closed, but there are moments of beauty if you intentionally direct your gaze and squint a bit. Hotel on North is one of those. My husband and our two pups just spent the night in the Library Suite. It's a big, bright, high-ceilinged room with much going for it. Large windows, wall-to-wall bookcases, a large bathroom with a walk-in shower, clawfoot tub, and water closet help make for a gracious home away from home. Yes, but t could all use an update, but...umm...Pittsfield. We even hosted an intimate cocktail party and had a comfortable, relaxed time doing so in the Library Suite. Finally, the staff was efficient, and the bed was comfortable and well outfitted. The four of us slept well. With so much going for it, there are a few pet peeves that I would like to share to help those considering a stay to plan accordingly. - While there are power outlets everywhere in the suite, there isn't a single USB outlet to be found. Bring a brick with you to charge your devices. - While there's a hand shower at the tub, there isn't one in the gigantic shower. I'm sorry, but rainforest heads do not lead to a clean undercarriage. Consider installing a hand shower for guests who want a full-body cleaning. - The lighting is odd. The bookcases light up throughout which is lovely as ambient lighting. (Sadly, during our stay one entire bookcase wall was completely out and I notified the hotel to alert engineering.) The overhead light has no dimmer. The switches control strange lights. That said, with tenacity, we managed to create an appropriate lighting scheme for the evening. - The kitchenette...oh, the kitchenette. It has the potential to be a small gem as, although small, it is the size of many a NYC kitchen. However, it is outfitted with two dorm refrigerators, a microwave, coffee maker, and a bar sink with a faucet that is way to large to use without splashing. There's not a utensil, sponge, dishwashing liquid, or plate. So, be sure to bring your own if you're planning on eating in the suite with anything other than your hands. This is all an easy fix for the hotel. All in all, it was a perfect evening in...umm...Pittsfield. If you want to make your stay in Pittsfield a lot less pitsy , Hotel on North is the place for you.

Pros: spacious rooms and bathrooms! If you have kids, you can easily fit a stroller and crib. If you're traveling with anyone who is wheelchair bound, the wheelchair can easily move around in the bathroom!Love the aesthetic of the building and the rooms! There's ample, free parking behind the hotel. Cons: they're short on staff so our room wasn't ready until after 3PM. While the bed is comfortable the pillows were the absolute worst!! I ended up sleeping without a pillow!

Really nice hotel, quirky but refined. Lots of restaurants close by, museums, and theaters. Gorgeous 2nd floor atrium with books and games. Our room had a small library and lovely decor. Internet is a bit spotty at times.

I found myself in town for work and ended up staying at Hotel On North for 2 nights on a video shoot. Without being too verbose, this is a hotel truly deserving of a 5-star rating. The building is beautifully styled and remodeled, my room was immaculate and well designed, but the best part hands down had to be the service. Every one of the staff exuded a kind/warm demeanor and made my stay notably comfortable! Just dropping a review as a thank you to the employees. Hope to see them again the next time I find myself their beautiful tiny town.

This hotel is interior design GOALS. Everything on my weekend getaway here was clean, beautiful, and comfortable. The common area was perfect for taking a morning meeting when I didn't want to disrupt my partner's sleeping in. Staff were very friendly and professional. An added unexpected bonus was free electric vehicle charging in their lot!

As a…read moreformer Diamond and now a Gold member of the Hilton Honors program, I have a certain amount of loyalty to the ever-expanding Hilton brands and have probably stayed in around 100 Hampton Inns over the years. This one is a mediocre example of these trusty motels. It's neither terrible or great. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable and everything works. But the room decor and design is dated and seems to have been been designed and decorated by someone without much architectural or interior design training. Frankly, the room was sort of ugly and a little depressing. The staff was okay, not particularly good or bad. The breakfast ladies were nice, though. However, the complimentary breakfast was somewhat below average for a Hampton, especially since the waffle makers were out of order and the selection of hot food (sausages, bacon, eggs, etc.) and other items was limited. Also, the location of this Hampton was a little odd, up a short drive from the main road and not visible from the highway. Due to all this, I would definitely take a look at the Courtyard by Marriott that is a couple of miles away. The prices (around $200 including taxes) are about the same, and while I didn't actually go into the Courtyard property, it sure looked more appealing than this older Hampton.

As a Hilton Gold member, I wanted to stay within the family and this was about the only option with another Hilton property nearby under significant offseason reservations. Using the Hilton App, I avoided the front desk experience with my room ready when requested for 3PM check in. However, when told the room number via the app notification prior to arrival, it changed at check in which could have been embarrassing if not noticed at the time of using the keyless entry via the app. The room was clean, but the view of the AC units on the roof of the first floor was hardly the view of the Berkshire woods I would have preferred. Lesson learned, next time I will choose my own room via the app. Sheets were clean, but the top sheet seemed ill fitting and came off two corners during the night exposing the mattress which nobody wants to experience. Towels were surprisingly soft showing that they were relatively new and clean. Unfortunately, I needed to leave early in the morning before the complimentary breakfast was ready for service, but trust it would be of the expected quality. I was able to grab a hot beverage for the road.

In this case, the lobby was bright cheery yet had ample seating for folks to talk and congregate . Second, I consider lighting both in the hallways and the lobby and in the room. In this case, the lighting at all of those locations was quite good if not,l excellent. Third, I consider water pressure. Hotels have a way of putting all these flow restrictors on faucets so that folks can't really wash off the soap and subsequently end up walking around with oily matted hair. Water pressure for me is a key variable when deciding whether or not to stay at a given location and, one of the reasons I often times regret staying at a particular location. In this case, the water pressure was good to good plus. Fourth , I take a look at add-ons, do they have a bar, do they have a restaurant, do they have a pool or hot tub, etc. ? In this case they had a restaurant on site which was nice along with a bar. Both of these were a great feature for hanging out with folks. They also had a pool. Finally, I look at Service. Will they provide and do they provide daily turnover of the room? Are the folks at the front desk available, and eager to help? In both of these cases at this particular location all of that was true. The folks at the front desk were nice. They were willing to turn over the room daily. No complaints here. For all of these reasons, I would give this place one notch up from average.

The room was on the back side and looked out on a nice green landscape, we weren't too far from many places to eat but I think we just got something to-go at Guido's which is right in front (it's more of a grocery store but they have plenty of prepared food options). I still like Hampton a bit better as they include breakfast but this is a nice alternative.

There are some obvious signs that it was previously much grander in the past - but the interior rooms are great and the service was excellent as well. We knew we needed a place for 150 people and we knew we wanted it to be drivable for both family and friends in upstate New York and Boston.   We stumbled upon The Lake House Guest Cottages of the Berkshires after months of searching, but the only wedding we had seen hosted there was inside the main cottage. Reluctantly, we decided it was probably too small for us.   Fast forward another month.  Randomly one night, my wife and I both separately pulled up the venue again and I said, "We need to just call them. Maybe they have some grass we can put a tent on." After a couple of email exchanges, Eric, the owner, and Cory, the grounds keeper, invited us out to see the space and were instantly sold. The beautiful grounds, the stunning cottages (or as we like to call them, "mini mansions"), THE VIEW.   Not only did they have four cottages on site where guests could stay, but they also had a field where they had placed a tent for previous weddings that could hold up to 150 guests. We soon found out that over the winter months they would be adding three additional cottages for guests to stay and a seasonal tent to be used for weddings throughout the summer and fall. Needless to say, we booked it.   A couple months into planning, LHGC added a wedding coordinator to their awesome team.  We connected with Kelsey instantly, discussing plans we had made and things we had coming down the line. She was always available if we had a question or concern. Come time to do our walk through before the wedding, we laid out the entire day with the help of Kelsey and our caterer.  We walked away knowing we had the dream team on board.   When our weekend approached, all the new additions were complete and the space was more beautiful than ever. We had our rehearsal brunch Friday morning and welcome party Friday night, both of which allowed for the caterers to take full advantage of the catering kitchen in the main cottage. Kelsey and Cory were completely accommodating and there from start to finish to help with anything we needed.   Our guests arrived sporadically from Friday morning through the evening and spent time playing lawn games, kayaking and paddleboarding on the lake, and enjoying each other's company.  It was so nice to have the entire grounds at our disposal.   On our wedding day, it was just the same. Everything went off seamlessly. Kelsey and Cory were both there if something came up, made sure that set up was perfect, ran the ceremony and reception smoothly and effortlessly.   Our wedding was perfect. It was everything we could have dreamed it to be and more.   Thank you, LHGC, for welcoming us to the family!  We look forward to spending many anniversaries with you on Pontoosuc Lake!
