Came here for the first time and it didn't disappoint. I got their brown sugar latte and it was delicious. The perfect amount of sweetness that wasn't overpowering as some can be. I forgot to substitute the milk with oat milk and the barista was kind enough to remake it. I enjoyed the ambiance. The workers were all really friendly and helpful. The donuts and cakes from this bakery are delicious! There was a small line forming when my friend and I arrived around 9am on a Saturday morning. We were going to pickup a cake that we ordered and then head back, but I decided to also buy a donut to try as well as the bakery is known for the Asian-flavored donuts & pastries. I bought an ube donut and split it among a few friends as it was quite big. The ube filling was very smooth and the donut was soft and fluffy so it was a great combination. The line is there for a reason. The hype is real. Trust it. I will ride the metro on my lunch breaks just to grab pastries to take home to eat as a reward for...making it through the day. Sometimes that's what it takes. The flavors are innovative and are always what they say they are. A lot of places will say it's some flavor but taste like someone whispered the flavor into it. They mean it. The passion fruit donut is reminiscent of lilikoi malasadas my husband ate living in Hawaii and he goes feral for them. Amazing Asian flavors in classic pastry- not too crumbly, always perfectly seasoned, spiced, sweetened, flaky or fluffy. Love, love, love. They do get busy on weekends so prepare!! This place had been on my list for a while, so I was really happy to try it on a Sunday morning. They're only open for 5 hours each day on the weekend so as you can imagine, the line was pretty long, but moved quickly. They are extremely efficient with their food items, even the breakfast sandwiches, so it's a grab and go situation. The coffee drinks tend to take a little longer so I think I waited about 10 Minutes or so before I got my drink order. Seating is indoor and outdoors and a little wonky inside especially if the line is long. You'll have customers buzzing around your table, so definitely recommend taking away if you're able to take your order to go. read more

Rose Ave Bakery is the best, the vibes are so cute. It's usually pretty busy on the weekends (line out the door) but things move fast and you can generally be in and out in under 25 minutes. Today we got the scallion croissant breakfast sandwich, mushroom miso tart, ube cheese kouign aman, and the passion fruit donut. My mouth waters just thinking about the ube donut. I LOVE that the brioche donuts aren't overpoweringly sweet such that they feel appropriate to consume as a breakfast pastry. I stopped in here twice while I was visiting DC for work. This place was NOT close to my hotel but I was willing to make the trek, and I'm so glad I did! Thankfully, it's right across the street from a metrorail station, so while it was a long journey, it wasn't difficult. I went once midday on a weekday, and there was no line and still a pretty full selection of items. The second time was a Saturday morning and as expected, there was a pretty long line. But it moved quickly thanks to a streamlined team working behind the counter. In total, I had the curry squash tart, the Saigon cinnamon banana cookie, and the pandan coconut donut. The curry squash tart was delicious and savory, with a flakey buttery crust. The cookie wasn't my favorite. Really delicious flavor, but I much prefer a chewier cookie and this one was softer than I'd have liked. The donut was wonderful! Great pandan coconut filling in a fluffy donut. We really liked what we tried here!! We got a passionfruit donut, black sesame swirl cookie, bacon egg and cheese on a garlic chive croissant, and an Ube Matcha. Our favorite was the BEC croissant!!! So flavorful, flaky, and yummy. One of the best croissants I've honestly had in a very long time. The black sesame swirl cookie was soft and tasted like a sugar cookie. The passionfruit donut was really yummy, a tarter flavorful but balanced well with the sugar on the outside of the donut. The Ube matcha was very sweet, but the Ube was too overpowering for me. Come here early! There's a line when I went on a Saturday morning but it moves quickly. Saigon banana latte: very good, not too sweet. I'd order this again. Brown sugar latte: this was okay. The banana latte was actually sweeter and better overall Egg & cheese sandwich: very flaky which made the sandwich yummy. For almost $10, I don't think I would get this again though. Pandan coconut donut: the green threw me off since it looks a bit artificial but it was fresh, light, not too sweet, and creamy. The coffees were not hot at all. It came out warm. One of my favorite DC bakeries-- tons of unique pastries with an Asian-American twist, and tasty drinks to go with them too! The donuts are amazing-- I love the pandan coconut and ube, and I'm hoping to try the black sesame next time. They are also known for their kouign-amanns, and you cannot go wrong with the ube cheese which has a cream cheesy kick to it. Drink-wise, I love going for their seasonal specials, like the Thai iced tea with pumpkin spice cold foam. Arrive early because lines get long (although move pretty fast) and there's not a ton of indoor seating if you're hoping to eat in. If the weather allows, there is more outside though. read more

One of our friends who is a foodie brought us to this place. I love the rose flavor, but I never drink it as authentically as the rose latte here at this café. We were all very impressed with all of the flavored items as well. Nothing too sweet, everything is seasoned properly and with tons of love. Inside, there was plenty of places to sit, windows to people watch, and really good music. Decadence. Buttery delicious decadence. Today, a Thursday, I ambled in with my coworker around 9 am to a shop so empty at first I feared it was closed. As I perused the case I knew I was about to make a very difficult decision. I ordered an egg and cheese croissant sammich, an ube kouign amann and a cardamom orange latte. Rose Avenue Bakery is a 10/10 I came in around 8:30am on a Friday, there was no line, and plenty of pastries left - this might be the secret as previous reviews made me nervous. I have a weakness for anything passionfruit so I ordered that flavor donut, which is great because j don't know how else I wouldn't have picked from their lineup. The donut was so light, flavorful, and delicious. I highly recommend! This was my first kouign amann which reminds me of a croissant. I had the mango sticky rice flavor and I don't know how else to describe it other than I ate both of these pastries before I got back to my car when I meant to have a bite of each. Ube might be an acquired taste, it's a sweet nutty flavor that added some pizazz to the iced coffee. If it's your jam, grab this latte. I'd venture to guess everything at this bakery is excellent but I will report back once I've accomplished that. read more

Our daughter Madison brought a slice of the strawberry-passion fruit cake from Rose Ave a couple of weeks ago. It was the best slice of cake I've had in ages! Since then, I thought about it almost everyday. My life must be boring if my thoughts can be occupied by a cake! Haha! So, I finally ordered online and went to pick it up. It's so far away but worth it. This has been a pretty popular cafe of late so I thought it was time to check it out. I think this cafe has a very inviting presences and it was filled with people conversing even on a rainy day. Because it was rainy the wait time wasn't too long maybe about 10-15 minutes. I wasn't the biggest fan of the coconut part of the donut even though I don't mind count. And I really liked the cookie. I have had two negative experiences with a black seseamee drink and a cookie but Rose Avenue turned me into a fan I would get it again. Rose Ave bakery was so worth the wait! I've been following them on social media for a while but haven't been able to drive to DC because you know, life! We made sure to get there as close to opening as possible. We went on a Saturday morning and arrived at 9:05am. There was already a line almost out the door. However, they run a tight ship and we moved along very quickly. Because we were knew we would not be back to DC for a while, we decided to load up and try as much as possible... best decision ever! Even after a few hours in the car, the donuts were not soggy, and the Kouign Amman pastries were still flaky. Musubi croissants were a pleasant surprise. Finally made it to Rose Ave Bakery and it was everything I had hoped for! They opened at 9am and when we arrived at 10am there was already a very long line that is well worth the wait! The staff was very friendly and helpful during the ordering process to ensure the line moved fairly quickly. Rose Ave typically has some amazing weekend specials which you can find on their Instagram account. We ordered everything to share which included the Saigon banana latte, ube iced coffee, crab ragoon, lemon meringue donut, and ube cheese amman. Everything but the ube items were specials and the baked specials were sold out by 11am so get there early. I loved everything and always appreciate unique and hard to find items and flavors. We were able to snag a table by the line (which never died down) before they all filled up but it was very busy and crowded the whole time. They also have a patio in the front which may have been a better option on a nice day! This will not be my last visit to Rose Ave Bakery. Can't wait to return! read more

First and foremost, every bakery item was delicious and rich. The donuts were soft, and the fillings were perfectly whipped, and not too sweet either. There was a nice variety to the menu and it was hard to pick what to get. The prices are on the pricier side, but that is not surprising of a nice bakery and in D.C. in general. My favorites were the Pandan coconut donut and ube coconut donut, and the ube cream kougn amann WAS SO GOOD. The drinks are refreshing too. I've seen this bakery a lot on social media and it did not disappoint! It's a beautiful place and it was so convenient that the Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan metro stop is right in front of it. The line was out the door, as it usually is, and the wave of customers did not stop the entire time I was there! There is a good amount of seating inside and outside together, but it might be a little hard to get seating for bigger groups, but it's worth it. This was my first time visiting Rose Ave Bakery since they moved to their new location. Everything was just as delicious as I remembered! I ordered a white mocha latte, a spam masubi croissant, a black sesame donut, a passion fruit donut, and a banana cinnamon cookie. They warmed the masubi for me, however it was a large portion so I decided to wait until I got home to eat it. It doesn't have very much filling, but was still very tasty, I would order it again. Don't let the line discourage you from waiting, it is SO well worth it! This is easily the best bakery I've been to in DC and the hype for it is so real. While the line is long, it moves pretty quickly and the staff are incredibly efficient. I got two lattes, the Saigon Banana and Chocolate Orange - both were amazing, but I personally preferred the Saigon Banana. And for food, I got two brioche donuts (coconut panda and ube coconut), the curry tart, mochi bites, and breakfast sandwich. Everything was honestly a knockout - I loved every single bite of every single item. And for how delicious and popular this spot is, the pricing is very reasonable. A must-visit if you're in the DC area! I'm jealous of everyone who lives in the DMV area because they can visit Rose Ave Bakery whenever they want. My friend highly recommended we grab some pastries from Rose Ave and I had really high expectations, but every single one was met! We arrived around 10:30 am on a weekday and already had a line of people with no available tables. The line moved quickly and they had an open display with all their pastries available. Between the 3 of us, we ordered the spam musubi crossiant, turon kouign amann, yuzu croissant, and scallion egg and cheese sandwich. The pastries were fresh, super flakey, and flavorful. My favorites were the kouign amann and spam musubi croissant. I've never had a flavor combo like that before and it's such a perfect combo of one savory and one sweet pastry to treat yourself to. The seating is a bit limited with a small "bar top" with stools facing a wall and most of the tables are for 2 people. There's also limited outdoor seating but you can bring your pup so that's a plus. Highly recommend this Asian fusion bakery that's killing it with its pastries! read more

Located right across from the Woodley Park metro station, there is usually a long line especially when they have seasonal offerings.
