Farm to table fresh food at the airport?!!! Yes please!!! Was early for my flight and decided to grab lunch. Place was super busy but the service was great. Cool decor inside with a nice view of the runway (watch planes take off and land while eating). Small menu, wish they had more options. Went with the burger and sweet potato fries. All was delicious. Root Up DIA location of the similarly named Denver restaurant, both of which are run by the Denver-based Edible Beets restaurant group, who own five restaurants throughout the area. They have a great ethos of having a Veggie-forward menus using locally-sourced seasonal ingredients and humanely raised animals for their proteins. They also abide by the strict Monterey Bay Aquarium's "Seafood Watch" guide for sustainable seafood options. The Good: *Located in Terminal C which is the Southworst Terminal *They also have a grab-and-go items outside re restaurant if you don't have time to sit down. *Friendly service *Local beer on-tap, as well as a full bar. *Lots of gluten-free and vegan options *The Korean BBQ Duck Wings were unbelievably delicious. Meatier than the typical chicken wings, and a crispy exterior that was coated in a sweet and spicy sauce that was lip-smackingly good. If they're on the menu--get 'em!! *The Soup and 1/2 Salad combo is a great deal at $18 and a shit-ton of food. The Farro Caesar had a lot of flavor and the Salmon add-on ($10) was cooked perfectly and gave the girl the protein she needed. *Lamb sliders were cooked perfectly and were deliciously seasoned and went great with the bacon and Sriracha aioli. The Meh: *Thai Carrot Curry Soup needed a bit more seasoning but the flavor was good and got better the more you ate. The Ugly: *The only reason we had time to dine here was due to flight delays, which in retrospect, turned out to be a good thing because of this place. So thank you for that. Conclusion: Not your ordinary airport food, as this was elevated Colorado cuisine at it's finest. Highly recommended if you have a few hours to kill between flights. We're definitely going to look into eating at one of their restaurants the next time we're visiting Denver. read more

The Standard Breakfast was just the right portion size. The eggs were fluffy and delicious and I asked for them to add cheddar cheese. The fried potatoes were delicious as well. The blood orange mimosa was good but I don't know if it was worth $15 (almost as much as my entree). The croissant was a disappointment and it was stale and not fluffy or very buttery. We knew we were going to have a long layover at the airport so I did a bit of research as to what was the best restaurant in the airport. This place kept popping as one of the best. It happened to be in the concourse we were in so that took care of that choice. I have to say we were both pretty impressed. We started with the wings which were delicious. Messy, spicy but delicious. I ordered the soup and 1/2 salad. I got the Thai carrot curry soup which was good. It grew on me the more I ate it. But the star for me was the farro Caesar salad. I ate a lot of salads during my trip and this one was easily the best. So good! The service was great as well which isn't common when it comes to airport restaurants. I love the singleton sitting area--perfect for solo travelers. The latte was delicious, and the arepas were terrific, flavorful with a rich hollandaise. Whenever I have a layover in Denver, I always stop at Root Down in Terminal C. It's a great spot that offers a lively vibe and great food! The first time I ever stopped in, I was looking for gluten free and dairy free food options. They offered menu items and customizations to meet both needs! They have both gluten free sandwich bread and burger buns--and it's only a $1 upcharge!!!! The staff is super friendly at the bar top--where I usually sit since I travel solo a lot. They've seen my face so many times now, they actually recognize me nowadays! As time allows, they will chit chat a bit, but they are always on the ball when it comes to making sure my food is enjoyable and that I never have to ask for a refill. Root Down is a gem at Denver International Airport and im so grateful to have a spot like it to grab a healthy meal during layovers! read more

Seated fast and had coffee and water instantly at the bar. A bit of an egg shortage ixnayed the breakfast tacos, so I went with the burrito. Served with potatoes, greens, with salsa and an avocado dressing/sauce. This is the 2nd time I've eaten here, 1st time breakfast. Food came out fast and piping hot. Friendly service, even tho he was a buckeye fan. Burrito was very good, and the potatoes were a nice surprise, diced red, sweet, and white, pan fried. Just great. For airport food, Root Down is pretty decent (as well as the Mercantile Dining & Provision at the A gate wing, which I think is one of the best airport food I've had)! The dining area is adjacent to a small open market, and is in the "food court" area of the wing. If you get a seat by the window, you'll be able to watch the planes fly in and out, which is calming. Notably, the portions are large, as I'd rather pay more for a decent meal rather than an oily, greasy fast food option if I can help it. The service was also positive, chirpy, and attentive - great experience! My party and I were seated quickly and had water immediately upon being seated. Food quality is good as far as airport food goes. My party ordered the Bahn Mi Turkey Burger with sweet potato fries, Ramen, and 1/2 Soup + 1/2 Salad. The plates are super large, even for the 1/2 salad so if you're not ravenous, you could probably order just one entree and share it with another person. The sweet potato fries were decent, and the turkey burger was supple (and healthy-tasting with fresh ingredients) though it tasted nothing like Bahn Mi - it's more Bahn Mi inspired with the addition of jalapeno and cilantro. The ramen was overly salty, and my party and I diluted it by ordering a cup of hot water. The soup and salad were delicious and super fresh, recommend getting this entree! I'd kind of given up on root down as it seemed impossible to get a seat here and I found the staff to be kind of rude and condescending. They must have gotten the message because man, have they turned it around! The hostess bent over backwards to get me seated immediately. I had their version of an espresso martini - delicious. Side note: all of their cocktails are doubles. For food I went with the homemade veggie burger. Honestly the best veggie burger I've ever had. It held together (unlike most which just fall apart in your hands), had tons of flavor, and the toppings were next level. Came with crunchy veggie mixture, avocado, and jalapeño relish (the real star). The burger also came with a side of sweet potato waffle fries that were perfectly crisp and well seasoned. Well, it is usually hard to find good and healthy food at the airport, and stumbling across this place in Terminal C in Denver was a nice surprise. Root Down had a great menu and offered healthy locally sourced food options for a reasonable price. I had a Banh Mi Turkey Burger and it was fantastic. If you go, I recommend the sweet potato waffle fries too. Service was excellent and the layout was a nice people watching spot if you are solo and need to catch a meal (or have an unexpected three hour layover). I had a very disappointing experience because of the host. I was initially offered a seat on a couch that was directly next to another party, and I politely said I would rather wait for a table instead. A few minutes later, I watched him seat two parties who had arrived after me. I then spoke with another hostess and told her I was happy to sit anywhere except the couch. She even said she didn't know why I had been skipped. She went to ask the host, and when she came back she confirmed that he had intentionally skipped me. I also overheard him make an inappropriate comment after she questioned him about it. While I couldn't hear every word, it was obvious from the interaction that he had deliberately passed me over because I declined the original seating option. There is a huge difference between politely declining one specific seat and giving up your place in line. The host's attitude was rude, unprofessional, and completely unnecessary. The other hostess handled the situation professionally and was kind, but this host's behavior left an incredibly poor impression. I hope management addresses how guests are treated, because no customer should be spoken about or treated that way. We weren't too sure about this place but The reviews were decent and we were hungry. The host asked us if we wanted to sit in the front or in the inside. My husband wanted to sit inside versus having throws of people walking by us. As we walked inside, none of the tables were cleared that were empty and we were a bit alarmed. The host surprised us by clearing the table we liked himself and quickly brought us menus and silverware. Our waiter approached us very quickly and took our order. The food came out lightning fast and was extremely tasty. My husband got the burger with a legit pretzel bun, and I got the smoked turkey on a croissant. Both of them were awesome!
