My hubby and I love coming here. We always get bento box dinners. It comes with teriyaki chicken, rice, half a crunch roll, tempura veggies and 3 slices of seared tuna. I met some friends here the other night and really liked it. I ordered the Alaskan Girl Roll (when in Alaska, eat sushi as the Alaskan's do, haha.) It was delicious of course. Our waitress was really sweet and the atmosphere of the place was pretty cool. A friend of mine who doesn't like sushi got the Ronnie Roll. I think it had teriyaki beef in it or something but either way she said it was her favorite thing to get there and just goes to show that you don't have to miss out on dinner with your friends just because you don't like sushi :) I just hope it stays in business because from what I hear that location changes businesses a lot. The food is okay, but the service can be bad depending on whom you get as a waitress. I would have rated this a 5 out of 5 for the food alone, but the service from the older waitress who now sports red hair is terrible. She is awful, she does not smile, she takes away your meals before you are finished eating without asking, she gets upset if you tell them that you are not done eating, she then brings the check without asking if you are done ordering and if you order something after she brought the check, she angrily slams the plates down as she picks them up and goes away without saying anything. She then tries to ignore you for the whole night and will not bring the usual sweet potato desert, she will just bring the check again and ignore you until you leave. The service from that older red hair waitress is terrible. I would suggest try to go on the weekdays and at an earlier time. I always see that horrible waitress on the weekend and is a hassle to try to maneuver our time to not see her, since the food is good. read more

I finally tried this place last night with my family and was disappointed after having spent so much money. We ordered the dinner bento boxes, 2 rolls, 'Open Your Mouth Roll' and the 'Island Roll' and the tempura udon. The chicken and the steak in the bento box were obviously pre-cooked and then reheated and smothered in teriyaki sauce. No amount of teriyaki could hide the fact that this meat was not freshly prepared. Even the seared ahi was previously seared and then refrigerated as it was totally cold when served. Good tempura is light and crispy; however the shrimp and vegetable tempura at Ronnie 2 was a bit rubbery and definitely soggy. It had a nice flavor, but texturally disappointing. However bad the batter, the tempura sauce was good, not the normal dashi dipping sauce. The udon was good, however the broth tasted as though it had come out of a package and not freshly made. Finally, the sushi was the worst! The sushi was totally over seasoned, making the rice too sour. The rice seasoning totally overwhelmed all the other flavors and components of the sushi, which was a shame because the presentation of the sushi was absolutely beautiful! The rice also tasted refrigerated. The components of these 2 rolls classically go very well together, but all I could taste was sour vinegar. I was so disappointed that I mentioned it to the waitress and she too knew that the rice was too heavily seasoned. She said that it was brought to the attention of the chef, but guesses that he prefers it that way. My total bill was $104 and with such a pricey bill I would have hoped to at least be satisfied, scratching the Japanese cuisine 'itch'. I was instead underwhelmed and left with a sour taste in my mouth, literally. read more

Ronnie 2 is a delicious sushi restaurant in Anchorage, Alaska. The fish is always fresh and the non sushi items are just as delicious. They provide you with miso, edamame, a noodle bowl and a sweet potato dessert for free. The main (normal) staff are the best and always takes care of any issues we might have. Went here last night for an early dinner. Was not impressed with the decor, tv screens everywhere. Loud music that sounded like a wierd mix of elevator/pop was blasting, did not fit the theme of a sushi restaurant at all. Now to the important stuff: there is no kids menu whatsoever so do not bring your kids here unless you want to pay for a full price adult size meal for them. I didn't really see any particular roll that jumped out at me. I can't remember the name of the roll I chose but it contained spicy tuna that was very fishy tasting and didn't seem fresh. The prices were also very expensive. If you're in the mood for good sushi, skip this place and go to Samuri Sushi which is right down the road. read more

Very disappointing. Service was horrible. Took a good 15 minutes to order than after food delivered they never came back even to give the check. In the span of our stay 2 tables walked out. I should have too. Ordered 3 rolls to share and they did not give us individual small plates. Rolls were loaded with very sticky rice. Sushi loaded with too much rice does not highlight the fish. Load carts roll down the isles with either your food or dirty dishes. I do not recommend this place. read more

I ate there yesterday with a couple of co-workers after a buddy raved about how great the food was. I wasn't impressed to say the least. While the food was good, we waited almost 45 minutes for the waitress to take our order. During the course of our meal, neither of us were offered a refill on our drinks, nor were we ever asked how we were doing during the meal. In addition, we had to wait an extremely long time for the check, not to mention when the check was ready to be picked up the waitress never came back to get it. The customer service was shameful. Had we received better service, this restaurant would have easily received 4 stars. read more

I was surprised and pleased by the quality of fish, included extras, and efficient service. I came here because of a groupon deal, fairly good reviews, and the proximity to our house. We stopped in about 6:30 on a Sunday and were immediately seated in a booth, brought waters and edamame and just as we decided on some rolls, the waitress was there (almost too soon, but I was hungry, so I was pleased). We ordered the Kamikaze, Deep Purple, and Sashimi rolls and a couple Nigiri. We were brought the salad, noodle salad, and miso soup. The salad was nothing special, but enough to distract me, the noodle salad was pretty bland, and the miso was was standard, but good. Our rolls and nigiri came quickly after finishing the starters, which is one reason I give high ratings, I tend to be impatient. The amount of fish per rice was very generous, especially on the Nigiri. The quality of the fish was great and the rolls were all very good too, especially the Deep Purple! After our meal, we did get the little pumpkin cake bite that was the perfect end to a great meal. My one complaint is that our waters were never filled and sat there empty the majority of the meal, but since our service was otherwise fast and efficient, I let it go. Overall GREAT sushi, fine service (nothing over the top, but got the job done). Don't expect the waitress to make conversation, but that doesn't bother me, I'd rather have her rush over and get the order in, which she did! read more

We tried Ronnie 2 after purchasing a groupon and for once I feel compelled to write a review on another sushi restaurant. My husband ordered a bento box and I ordered the Ronnie Roll. It was so good! It's basically a crunch roll (tempura shrimp and crunch on the outside) with sweet beef piled on top. We each got salad, soup and vinegar noodles, plus a mini dessert at the end. I ended up taking 1/2 of my roll home because I was so full and it was still really good heated up the next day (which is never the case with rolls). I'm sure we'll be back just for the Ronnie Roll. I came here with my girlfriend to try it out since she's a big sushi fan and I had found a Groupon for it so I figured it was worth a try. The service was absolutely horrible. First off, it took a very long time for us to even get drinks, at least 10+ minutes. Then, it took another 10 for her to even take our order and another maybe 20 minutes to get our food. Another table next to us that came in a lot later, with a bigger group of people, got waited on and served before she even acknowledged us. We were given a small bowl of edamame to share and each given a small salad, bowl of some weird vinegar noodles and miso soup. A lot of reviews mention some kind of sweet potato dessert too, but we weren't given anything like that. We were lucky enough to flag one of the waitresses down to get the check. Not all of them speak English so trying to explain a groupon or anything really, was a bit difficult. We ordered two rolls to share, seeing how expensive this place was, the Chicken Teriyaki roll and the Ronnie roll. I enjoyed the chicken roll, but she didn't like it because they put a slice of cheese in it instead of the usual cream cheese and we both enjoyed the Ronnie 2 roll. It was a big roll covered in a mound of beef that was easily shareable. I have a second groupon that I bought so I will go back to use it, but after that, for the prices and terrible service, I doubt I'll ever go back there again. read more

I eat at this place often. I would say at least 1-2 times a month average. I suggest getting the groupon for it, even though it isn't expensive. The cost is comparable. I have had almost their entire menu and have only had a couple rolls that I didn't enjoy. That was personal preference though, nothing that was wrong with the food. I would have to say that they are probably my favorite sushi place to eat. Knowing that my sons plate is free of cost when I take him in with me is a HUGE BONUS as well.
