The food here is okay. But the service was very rude and pushy. They weren't even busy. We walk in and they asked how many then just yelled at us to go upstairs. Once upstairs made me feel like we were inconveniencing them. The waitress kept coming back after we were done eating picking up stuff, trying to get us to leave. I would've spent money if she hadn't been so pushy. Definitely won't be coming back again. read more

We had the bento box. Lots of food. It was all very delicious. My wife and I will definitely come back. As we sat there eating, every thing we saw other people eating also looked very good. read more

I've left a review before, but Ronnie 2 continues to impress my husband & I even more somehow each time we go so I thought I'd leave another review. We went last Sunday afternoon and as always the service was excellent and the food was even better. We have been several times and we tend to get the Sashimi Roll and the Open Your Mouth Roll pretty regularly, but I always like to try a new roll every now and then too. The waitress suggested the Kamikaze roll and it was amazing! It was generously piled with tuna and had a hint of spiciness. One of the main things we love about Ronnie 2 is the amount of food you get in addition to the sushi (edamame, miso, salad, and a noodle salad). You always leave full and happy. This time they gave us 4 complimentary California rolls too! The sweet potato complimentary dessert is amazing too. In sum, if you haven't been to Ronnie yet, GO. read more

If I could give 10 stars to this restaurant I would do it always. It is our favorite place anywhere! And we have tried diferent sushi places in Texas, Puerto Rico, New York, Las Vegas Etc... and this is our favorite by far. The service is amazing we do not need to wait for more water or soda they are always checking if we need something, and at this point they know our names and when we go always receive us with a big smile and calling by our names, and the owner almos always come to our table to see if everything is ok. The Food! Well its the best sushi ever! My favorite plate is the Open Your Mouth(with shrimp), Our favorite appetizer is the kami kama sticks, my husband favorite is a special salad named after him as Alex's Special! Other amazing things are the Las vegas roll, nuclear bomb, shaggy dog roll etc. They give you miso soup, a salad and a crab cold noodles all by the house, the kids meal is also by the house and the dessert is a sweet popato cake with wip cream and chocolate syrup that a can go out without eat it! read more

This place was really good I enjoyed both times I went. They give you so much food that me and my boyfriend share one meal. They are friendly n really on time with the service. I love it! The only thing was my water came n I had thing floating around in it so I left thirsty but overall good. read more

Sushi is huge worth the price and lots of complementary things to snack on before the meal 10/10

Wonderful place to grab a casual dinner. I have to have been here at least 30 times, and I don't think I've ever had my order mistaken. They are always so kind and welcome at this location. I don't think I have a single complaint. read more

There are SO many rolls to choose from! I've had a ton and they've all been tasty-tasty. Miso, salad, and edemame come out before the meal. I recommend the Open Your mouth Roll #2 and the Alaska Boy Roll. Those are a couple of my faves. This is one of my top spots for sushi in town. never a bad roll. read more

This place was excellent! Definitely the best sushi place on Muldoon. The menu is extensive, with food ranging from the usual sushi bar stuff to incredibly unique Japanese cuisine. Servings are MASSIVE for the price and you get a TON of free appetizers and a free little dessert. The only thing that stops it from getting five stars is the fact that I don't think they had enough people working to keep track of everybody, so service was a little slow. Well worth it though, and will totally be back to try the sake bar. read more

I've never actually been to the restaurant, but my cousin brought me back some food. So this review is solely on that. Wow! What can I say about this amazing sushi? I had the Open your mouth roll, and it was incredible. I've mostly avoided the raw types of sushi, stuck to the California roll until now. I'm SO glad I tried this amazing food, i had been a bit wary of it but had heard amazing things. And I have to agree with everyone who told me it was worth it. read more

This is hands down our favorite sushi restaurant!! The prices are great and all the extra goodies like soup, noodles, edamame, salad and dessert make the meal so worth it! **upgraded to 3 stars for better service after returning a couple more times.** You get good service on slow days but if it is busy don't come if you're Asian. You get the "Asian family" treatment and skipped while they cater to their other patrons. My empty plate has been sitting in front of me for about 15 minutes now while others are getting their tables cleaned and desert orders in. Honest oversight but extremely annoying when it happens to you. The food is a 3 stars and not bad considering the limited dining options in Anchorage. read more

Came back here again to continue my quest of trying everything on the menu. I was satisfied with my main order as usual. What really threw me off was the dessert. I ordered their tempura ice cream. I was shocked when they put the dish in front of me. The dish was a disarray of colors. The ice cream is hard and doesn't taste like anything( I ordered a green tea). The tempura is lukewarm and stale. They threw on top a bunch of whipped cream and colored sugars. I was done with tempura ice cream after that night. read more

usually love the sushi here. today i got the viagra roll and absolutely hated it, not only was it just not good it was completely burnt on top, told the server i didn't like it and she continued to take it away and then still charge me for it when less then one bite was taken and it was thrown away.. the entire time me and my friends were sitting here we were not checked on once and we had empty waters almost the entire time until she brought us our checks and then finally asked how we were doing . very disappointed in this place that i used to love so much. don't think i'll ever come back. read more

Having just got back to the states from living in Japan for the last four years I was having sushi withdrawals. Decided to take the family out for sushi. That's not sushi. Most of the food we got you couldn't tell there was seafood on it. A rice ball maybe, but definitely not sushi. Food was overpriced. Two shrimp nigiri should not cost so much. Expecting a bigger tip for garbage service and bad food? Probably not going back and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who likes real sushi. read more

By far my favorite sushi place in Anchorage! Best prices, best sushi, and best staff!

The best I can say is that the food is inconsistent, because in the past, I've enjoyed Ronnie 2. Nothing 'good' stands out, though, like the horrible lunch experience I had yesterday. I ordered to go...a tempura spicy tuna appetizer and the daily special; bulgogi with half a crunch roll, tempura, rice and soup. I was taking it to go, and it wasn't what I really wanted but every time I tried to pick something else, the server tried to steer me back to the special. I guess no one felt like cooking. This entire order can be summed up with the word MUSH. The tempura, both in the app and with the lunch, was mushy. Oh, in the crunch roll too. The beef in the bulgogi was mushy. So were the vegetables. Mushy and grey. The one redeeming item was the yakitori, which was cooked perfectly. But I work about 30 feet from Yakitori, the restaurant, and they have great yakitori too. Like 70 different kinds. Sorry, Ronnie 2. I tossed 34 bucks literally in the garbage yesterday. It's the last time I'll be doing that. read more

Ever since Tempura Express sold, I have been trying this place sort of piece by piece. Last night we sat down and went full blown with Dinner. I'm not a fan. My best friend loves this place but I don't eat sushi. The chicken teriyaki was okay. Hubby said the Shrimp tempura had too much breading for him but my daughter liked them. Customer service was great and all the food leading up to our main sushi roll was bomb. The noodles, salad and miso were amazing and they even let us sample one of the appetizers which was also perfect. But the rolls both disappointed so badly. My spicy Tuna was barely edible and the other roll had so much cheese on it just you couldnt taste anything else. Unappetizing to say the least. I really wanted to love this place, but I don't think I'll ever be going back. Thumbs down for me. Stars are for service. read more

New to the east side, Ronnie 2 is a welcome alternative to Samurai Sushi. Good selection of sushi rolls, wide variety of Japanese dishes. Tried the Rainbow roll and a couple of orders of sushi ala carte, well made and tasty. Kuni-san was the sushi chef, he's very personable. The decor could be better, but there's not much you can do with a place that was a Mexican restaurant and possibly Thai in a previous life. Hopefully business will be good and it will stay for awhile! read more

I was quite hesitant to try this place out at first. I heard pass reviews were not great. (Years ago) But being said, hands down the best sushi and spicey seafood platter I had in a long time. I was shocked on how delicious the food was. I got the Open your mouth roll number 1 and spicy seafood platter, my husband got the Ronnie roll and Teribeef. Both dinners were quite delicious. And at the end of our dinner, they gave us a little sample of their homemade sweet potato cake, taste was unique. I liked it. We'll be back Ronnie 2! read more

2 for the food. 2.75 for the staff. I wasn't really expecting much. I mean, the place is called "Ronnie 2," what the hell am I supposed to think? It's like working title for the sequel to Andy Samberg's Shy Ronnie video. First impressions, this place looks like someone couldn't decide between a diner and a steak restaurant, stopped in the middle and decided to go oriental. The decor and atmosphere seem date-nighty, out with the entourage-y enough. I don't know if I was the ##nth customer, or decided to hook up a fellow asian, or they somehow got a hold my picture and worked extra hard for a good yelp rating (they had a yelp sticker on the door, who knows?... on the other hand i did have my phone out a lot, but back to the original hand this is the era where nobody interacts with anyone except through phone), but they kept giving me free stuff. I'm not sure where on-the-house-for-an-honored-guest or complementary-continental-breakfast was drawn, but I'll assume the miso soup, salad, edamame and rice noodles were automatic because that came out quick. SO! The miso soup. There wasn't much in it. The flavor was actually fairly spot-on, though I could tell it wasn't very fresh, probably reaching the end of its mass-produced leg for the night. Still, missing in the tofu, wakame, green onion, age (check your pronunciation) department. The salad came in a clear plastic bowl, like poor college kid tupperware. The ginger dressing was a little runny and a bit on the sweeter side. A bit strange for the typical dressing flavor, but it just wasn't particularly to my taste. The edamame was a little on the undercooked. You never want these mushy or too salty, and I suppose its better they erred on the side of undercooked and unsalted. Just a few minutes more next time. Cold rice noodles, with some kind of pickled sauce. It was... interesting. There's a name for it but I just can't put my finger on it. It was a nice contrast to the rest of the pseudo-appetizers. It seemed to act like a whiff of coffee beans in a candle store. Now the extra thing. Deep fried crab strips, daikon shreds, a bit of ikura, all in a weird orange sauce. I have no idea what that orange sauce was but it went well. Hell, it all went well. They asked to make sure they got my order. I had only been sitting for a few minutes after finishing the pseudo-appetizers. Very attentive. Now, here's my problem. The sukiyaki, which is supposed to be thinly sliced, fried/seared strips of beef, marinated in a special sauce with vegetables like green onion, nappa and bean sprouts, came out looking more like beef nabe with raw veggies you'd find in a stir fry dish. So to keep the review from sinking because of a mistake in nomenclature, I'll just keep calling it beef nabe. The beef of the beef nabe was, well, almost prepped like a steak. because it was treated like nabe instead of sukiyaki, there wasn't a marinate or flavor in it. The veggies, broccoli, carrots, almost whole mushrooms instead of slices like shiitake is always prepped, green beans that threw off the whole flavor, and whatever else, they were undercooked. Don't get me wrong, I like raw veggies. I like the crunch and refreshing mist of cool water that comes from raw veggies, but not in nabe/sukiyaki. Sukiyaki, aside from being an entirely different dish, has an entirely different set of veggies in it. And nabe is basically a stew version of sukiyaki. While it fulfilled the purpose of nabe and warmed me up with its fillings, it really wasn't nabe, much less sukiyaki. I'd advise taking it off the menu completely, or learn how to make sukiyaki... and nabe. But if they could make nabe and make it right, I bet it would do very well in a place like winterfell/anchorage. Now I got nigiri, tuna and salmon. I wrote in another review of a style of nigiri that made it seem like a tiny car with a huge mattress strapped to the roof. Well I'm reviving that sentiment. Their nigiri was like a miata with that California extra-fat king-size mattress on top. The pieces were thick and almost seemed to overflow onto the plate. And they gave two pieces each. I guess to compensate for the huge pieces, they gave fewer. Personally, I don't mind this style. I like that the amount is bigger, but I don't like that it's much more likely to come apart before it makes it to your mouth. Seriously, it was like a little kid carrying a giant christmas tree. The tuna seemed a bit more on the tired side. It was dark the way tuna would be after it's been frozen. It didn't have that fishy taste to it but it certainly wasn't a spring chicken... spring salmon... summer salmon. yeah, it wasn't really a summer salmon. It just hit that window. The salmon! Still fresh even after the season. Good taste. Overall, it's not bad. The price is very reasonable, for anywhere, and the staff are very courteous. It's good for a cheap fix. Like the tea, the flavor could use some work, but I guess you get what you pay for. A reasonable compromise. read more

I really like the food and the location. The place is always packed and it's family friendly.

We had dinner here, if not to just experience the crazy architecture. Upstairs is a pool/bar that advertises free snacks. Our party split a few rolls and sake, and we had more than enough to eat. There were a few issues with our meal, but the staff was very apologetic, took care of things quickly, and comped us a few beers as well. This place definitely wants your business, and I will definitely go back. read more

Sushi these days is like a $30 a person affair and yet you still leave pretty hungry. This is not the case with Ronnie. One of the really great things about this place is that they also give you so many free starters. I had miso soup, ginger salad, edamame and some type of sweet noodle all before we got our sushi. The lady who runs the joint was even so kind to bring rice in miso soup for my toddler. I had the "Open your Mouth" Roll. This thing is the 1 lb burger of sushi rolls. Not only is it a pretty bulky roll it has fried calamari on top with plenty of sauce over top. My wife had the Alaska roll and really enjoyed it. So what was the bottom line? We walked out after tip paying around $36! Not only that we were super full. Go and check this family friendly, very nice sushi joint. read more
