I've never met Dr Barnett. When we moved here, we were in need of orthodontic services. The reputation of this business among our neighborhood is unparalleled. Prices seemed to be inline for similar services performed in this area How could it be THAT good I wondered? But they were the best by all accounts. So I drag my kid in and find a big beautiful office replete with Keurig wares, state of the art orthodontic equipment and electronic record keeping. An extremely comfortable waiting area (for kids and adults) and a nook equipped with iPads for the youngest demographic. Luxury surroundings, so now my skeptical self knows how they spend their money...fooling people with the office space. And amazingly.....all of the staff are universally capable, competent, friendly, and excruciatingly polite, even under adverse conditions. One time I kibitzed some of the desk staff patiently helping a disgruntled parent who's child had to be rescheduled a third time because their child arrived for the appointment much too late to perform their procedure in the remaining appointment time....twice in a row. The parent wanted immediate action and did not want to be rescheduled...but the office has an obligation to the patients that are scheduled NEXT, don't they? Amazing patience and restraint was on display. And the professionals? Also competent, friendly, and very polite They talk directly to my 13 year old, instead of talking over her to me. Plenty patient and willing to explain what's going on to kids (often the patients) as well as the adults. I've owned businesses, and I've seen organizations that work well...and one thing is true in that regard: everything starts at the top. Because if the owner/manager doesn't REALLY care, then the employees can get away with not QUITE caring either, and all the customer gets is lip service and fake smiles. You won't find fake smiles at Barnett Orthodontics So in a sense, I guess I HAVE met Dr Barnett. Just not in person. read more

My dentist was concerned when he saw the outcome of my treatment from Dr. Barnett at Smile Doctors and recommended I get my teeth fixed. When I spoke to Dr. Barnett about it, I was told my teeth were "straight enough" and he brushed it off. I have been coming here for over 2 years and given the stellar reviews on here, am disappointed with the service I received as well as the outcome. In a nutshell, Dr. Barnett made a lot of promises when I initially visited, but once I was a customer, the focus was on getting me out of there instead of providing a great smile. This office business focuses on seeing a high volume of patients, and settles for providing just okay results. If you want really nice teeth, I recommend looking elsewhere. 7 months before my treatment was supposed to end, I was told that I was "all done" repeatedly even though my teeth were still obviously crooked. When I expressed concerns about this, Dr Barnett and staff acted as if I was being unreasonable. Responses ranged from, "I guess if you want to continue, I suppose we can continue", to Dr. Barnett personally being condescending toward me. If you are looking for a great smile, look elsewhere. There are many options in the Austin area for orthodontics that are more focused on providing a great smile, instead of hurrying their patients out the door. FABULOUS! I transferred to Dr. Barnett from another orthodontist and I was very impressed with not only the staff but Dr. Barnett as well. The staff is very friendly!!! After a year of my braces being off one stubborn tooth started moving back, disappointing. After a check up braces were put back on for another four months and I couldn't be happier with the results! From the start to finish, everything about this office and service are exceptional! The front desk staff was friendly and efficient, and the waiting room is comfortable. We were greeted by the Treatment Coordinator, Pam, who took us through the steps of our orthodontic evaluation. Dr. Barnett then met us and performed the evaluation with photos and x-rays, followed by an easy to understand plan. Pam then went through the payment options and explanations of insurance benefits should we choose to use Dr. Barnett's services. No pressure at all. They offer a rewards-incentive program for patients to earn gift cards which definitely made my daughter light up. After comparison of different orthodontic offices, we chose Dr. Barnett for all of the above. We have had nothing but positive, prompt, and courteous service by everyone at the office. Just got my braces off and I'm ecstatic with the way my smile turned out. From day one Dr. Barnett and his team have treated me like I'm their top patient. Every visit was handled professionally and with care. I even went out of state for vacation and Victoria made sure that I had extra rubber bands to take with me before I left. It turned out they were out of the kind that I needed so she actually overnighted some to me since I mentioned I was leaving in two days. Now that is great customer service! After a trip to our dentist, we were informed that our 9 year old badly needed braced to correct an underbite and crowded teeth that were not allowing his adult teeth to come in. One of the orthodontists we were referred to was Dr. Barnett so we went in for visit. We had planned to check out a couple of places before settling but we were so impressed with the location, the staff and the great overview of care that we committed to working with Dr. Barnett. Our son had had an expander and partial braces on for about 6 months now and we've been very happy with the care we've received and the great communication about his progress. Email appointment reminders and online payments make things super easy for a busy mom and two and there's even toys in the lobby for little sister to play with. Severe allergic reaction to new braces! I had braces installed last Wednesday. The swelling started Friday night and has been extremely painful and debilitating. I do not blame #barnettorthodontics for the reaction however I do question their competence as a medical office. There is absolutely no Emergency Call number, service, directive ANYTHING for this Office. I have checked their phone, website, yelp, etc. I have had to go to an emergency room where they could only treat pain but could not remove the braces. Dr Barnett installed a medical device and did not give any planning to how an emergency situation should be handled. As it is a holiday weekend, their offices will not be open until tomorrow. I will have spent 3 1/2 Days in pain because of their negligence and lack of planning. I will be following up with the licensing boards to determine if an emergency contact is required and if not, why?! It is a form of malpractice to install medical appliances with no emergency recourse! I now have ulcers forming inside my mouth in addition to the swelling in my lips, face, and jaw. read more

I would not recommend this guy. My first appointment he took a pano and went over the treatment plan. First he told me I needed to have teeth extracted but we would make sure further into my treatment. About a year and a half after I began my treatment the Dentist I worked for started noticing that he was protruding my teeth trying to make room for my bottom teeth to align correctly. So I made another appointment to stress my concerns. At This appointment he told me I would have to get two veneers to fill in the gaps on my upper teeth because he protruded them so much. When I asked him why He very sternly told me that he is the doctor and never recommended extractions basically saying the Dr. I work for knows nothing. (Very hot headed Dr complex) so I went home and spoke with my boyfriend who is a dentist who by the way agreed that he was jacking my teeth way out, and he recommended that I get a second opinion from another orthodontist. The next orthodontist was shocked. And told me to stop treatment immediately. So I did. But now he moved my teeth so quick and so much the bone on my upper teeth is very thin and I have very sensitive teeth from him shaving them down to make room. Instead of doing the proper treatment he messed me up. Well now that I quit treatment with him I now have a 1,200 bill on my credit that I DO not owe this guy. Take my advise and run away from this office. read more

Everyone in this office is amazing! Pam helped me get set up and went over all my payment options until I found one that fit my budget. They will work with just about any problem you have. Dr. Barnett has been our family's orthodontist for the past10-12 years. He has embraced the special needs, physically, emotionally, and medically for our kiddos. So much, so, that the high level of anxiety that can typically derail medical procedures for them, have never surfaced. They stand proud of their teeth and smiles! I had a really unfortunate experience with Dr. Barnett. After an associate I was working with was no longer at the practice, I decided to give Dr. Barnett a shot. After a couple of visits, I decided to interview some other doctors when things seemed extremely off. For example, I had gotten my braces in December and he said it looked like I could get them off in September. My smile and bite were not ok. When seeing another orthodontist he seemed shocked by this saying I needed at minimum another 18 months. He also was doing things that made me feel as if he never took the time to sit down and read my case after I was, well I guess you could say inherited when his associate left. I wanted to be listened for and cared for as a patient. After all, this is a really big deal for me and I have worked for years on this. If my braces would have come off in September, that would have been nearly $7k for 9 months of braces that were not well done. Leaving was the best choice I could make for me and my smile. I will say, swapping orthodontists mid treatment is expensive and not a decision to make lightly. You will end up paying more than if you had just stuck to your original pick.... but if I had stuck with the mediocre care Barnett was giving me, I doubt I would have ever achieved the smile I want. Be so careful and interview multiple orthodontists before making your choice. read more

You expect the day you get your braces off to be filled with joy and, well, eating. Mine, however, was full of doubt and disappointment. After a year and 8 months (double the estimate I was told at the beginning), I was left with gum issues and a tooth that is going to fall out. Besides less-than-stellar results, the other major disappointment I encountered with them was their lack of willingness to work with me. I had a serious health issue that required me to go to the Cleveland Clinic and while my braces were due to come off, they would not make any effort to fit me in before the appointment which I thought was going to require an MRI. read more

Dr. Barnett has been a fantastic orthodontist for our family. I did braces with him as an adult and then easily trusted him to take care of my kids' orthodontic needs. We use his Round Rock office, which is beautiful, comfortable, modern, and clean. His staff is absolutely wonderful all around. After my daughter finished her braces, her permanent retainer broke. Dr Barnett and the entire staff are wonderful! I have 2 children who have had braces and they both had a great experience. We've actually been to both the mopac and the round rock office. The entire staff always found ways to keep the kids motivated and not depressed about braces. The front office staff was very helpful (and always smiling) when scheduling appointments. LOVE Dr. B ! went to another OD for a consult, they wanted to pull teeth and charge for non customary extras. Went to Dr. B - not one tooth had to be pulled and no 'extra' charges. I have never been to a Dr/Dentist office where the people were so nice and actually seemed to be happy to be there. The front office guy, Scott, even used my son's name when we were leaving and he never met him. Not sure how he knew his name, but it made us feel important. My son won't have braces for about a year but I will definitely be going here when the time comes. More companies should strive to be like Barnett Orthodontics! read more
