They will use every penny of your insurance for whatever you are having done. They don't do common procedures such as extractions

This has been one of my favorite dental visits I've ever had. I was a new patient so they took X-rays of my head and did a general exam. I learned so much about myself and they were so thorough. Dr. Ip, Shae, and Grace were all such a pleasure. On this visit, I learned that I have a deviated septum and also a tight oral frenulum. These might be why I have breathing problems at night. The team was never pushy with trying to sell me on services or products which I really appreciated. They have such cool technology that really gives me an in depth overview of my oral health. The only thing I would recommend is if they played music in the lobby or something. It echoes and is awkwardly quiet in the lobby. I would absolutely recommend the dental office and will be back for my next check up/cleaning! read more

I was a client of Dr. Ip for 7 years before I switched dentist cause he was no longer in network. It's only after I switched dentist that I realized how much better the quality of work I've had for 7 years. I've never had any issues having fillings or crown done at Dr. Ip but OMG, my temporary crown fell out 5 times in 2 weeks at my new dentist. Dr. Ip is such a fantastic dentist and I highly recommend him to everyone I know. I first saw him the week after I moved to Austin and was looking to fix a cracked tooth. He was able to see me right away, listened to all my concerns and fixed my tooth as quickly as possible. I have continued to see him as my dentist for the last 10 years because I know I will always receive the best quality care. He is so kind and you can tell that he genuinely cares about his patients. I have never doubted that the care options he gives me are in my best interest and that's why I trust him completely with my dental care. I spent two years (and a LOT of Dr. Ip's time) asking ALL of the questions about veneers. Every single time I went in for a cleaning, Dr. Ip would come in and go over all of my questions and concerns without any pressure for a commitment from me. When I finally did commit, he spent even more time going over different options with me and the best way to get the absolute most value out of my investment. We talked different shapes, different styles, different colors. He even gave me the option of having JLo's exact smile! Pretty cool, but even better than that is the team of professionals he works with to create a smile that would be absolutely perfect for my own face. Dr. Ip took tons of x-rays, photos, measurements and video's of me talking, laughing, smiling and came up with his own design, then sent all of that information to a team of 4 other professionals who all work synergistically to create the PERFECT smile for me. This experience was nothing like my first experience with veneers (different dentist) 13 years ago. I am a skeptic by nature. I am also a perfectionist with incredibly high expectations. I've been blessed thus far in the teeth department - I don't have cavities and haven't undergone any oral surgeries, other than wisdom teeth removal many years ago. So, I'm writing this review as a patient who has gone in for routine cleanings and check-ups only. I've been happy with the services I've received... nothing really to either gush or complain about. Pretty much what I expected going in. The hygienists get down to business and the ladies at the desk are friendly. I'm in and out quickly. I greatly enjoy the two TVs, which allow me to watch Ghost Adventures while spooky, loud machinery is in my mouth. A couple grievances: - They give you glasses to cover your eyes from the gunk that flies out of your mouth... that's all well and good, but one time the glasses were filthy with other people's mouth gunk. I did not like. - I don't have a problem with the dentist himself, although once he called me by the wrong name (oddly, not the first time I've been incorrectly called Veronica). I do feel he has been a little rushed and sales-y... for example, I'm asked, "what is most important to you? Your oral health, condition, or cosmetics?" (Or something along those lines) and asked to prioritize them. It's a nice sentiment, but something about this place almost feels corporate... like, it's a very systematized experience that feels slightly McDonalds-esque. I have also been offered various other (cosmetic) services that aren't really necessary. - I am a smoker, so going to a medical provider of any kind is a little scary, and on top of that, I expect to be shamed. I have encountered some mildly shaming comments from hygienists - like, my teeth are dirtier than those of non-smokers "for whatever reason" and the lady emphasized that she had to do extra work because of it. Ok, fine. The dentist also asked if I was willing to "make a promise to join him in working toward quitting" and I thought... nope, no thanks. The space itself is a modern minimalist dream - and a far cry from the basement family practices I went to as a kid. That's a positive. Overall, a good experience, but something about my experiences has felt a little phony. Like I'm less of a patient and more of a customer. read more

Let's be totally honest....normally, I REALLY dislike the dentist. But oh my goodness, Dr. Ip and his team are absolutely the BEST and they made my experience enjoyable (something I never thought I would say when it came to dentistry of all things). I have an intense phobia of the sound that the tools make scraping against my teeth, so much so that I once left a deep cleaning at another dentist's office with only half of my mouth done and NEVER WENT BACK - which says something considering my normal tenacity when it most anything else in life. Dr. Ip and his team heard my concerns and were able to keep me calm and comfortable during my cleaning, a first in my entire life! First off, the staff is absolutely wonderful. They are all so kind, happy, and personable. There is nothing cold or clinical about the space or the team, and I immediately felt well-cared for, heard, and in good hands. I adored my dental hygienist - she was sweet and funny and very quick. She had me laughing and feeling at home immediately. The team at Smile 360 are also incredibly thorough, not only making sure to take plenty of films and photos of my teeth but also discussing all of their findings in depth with me. They took me on a "tour" of my mouth, showing me X-rays of each tooth on a big screen and explaining what I was seeing, what was normal, and anything to keep an eye on. They also checked all of the muscles in my jaw for knots (I had some complaints regarding consistent jaw pain) and then made some solid and non-invasive recommendations for ways to address the pain. Their approach seems very geared towards the needs of the patient and not some hidden agenda like other practices I have been to, there were no upsells or recommendations for things that I didn't need, which I really appreciated. You can tell that they are focused first and foremost on the health and comfort of their patients. Dr. Ip has a wonderful bedside manner just like the rest of the staff and is totally relatable and kind. I left with a much better understanding of the state of my teeth and even got some info on ways to brush better. I don't know about you, but I like to understand what's happening to my body and in my mouth, and this was the first time someone had taken the time to truly break it down for me. I'm actually looking forward to going back! Aside from the incredible staff and killer service, the decor is a minimalist's dream - complete with elegant, simplistic pieces and tall, open ceilings. The pops of orange and teal bring just the right amount of cheeriness into the space and the decor is Pinterest-worthy, making for an all-around amazing experience! Annnnd for those of you who like me appreciate a great doctor and good schooling, Dr. Ip got his DDS from NYU...so you know he's gotta be good! read more

Words cannot describe how much I loathe a visit to the dentist I would sooner get dental work performed by a cross checking hockey player against a rink then willingly partake in mouth rehabilitation. Luckily my friends at Smile 360 knew this and took every procedure to make sure that I had a grand ol' time (or the most humanly possible for getting your teeth drilled) I watched Travel channel and was doped up on laughing gas while I had a small oral operation performed and has literally no discomfort the entire procedure. I am VERY OCD about my teeth. I love having my teeth cleaned. I was new to Austin a couple of years ago and saw a flyer for this place as decided to check it out. I've had the same dentist my entire life back home so I was nervous trying a new place. My hygienist back home was very delicate and thorough so I was hoping for the same. Dr. Ip and his entire staff are fantastic. He is very knowledgable and professional. The receptionist is really sweet and friendly. Megan was my hygienist this past time and I was blown away at what an awesome job she did! She is extremely thorough and also very delicate. They have nice tools so I felt like I was in and out but also had the most perfect cleaning I've ever had. They also have TVs on the ceiling and let you pick whatever you want to watch, so I got to watch the friendly match with Argentina v Germany (Messi FTW). Dr. Ip and his whole staff are awesome! Exactly what you wouldn't envision a dentist to be- friendly, non-judgy, easy, and inexpensive. I found this place on Yelp- bc it's close to my house (on South Lamar)- and was super nervous bc dentists are usually the worst. Thankfully, this is not the case with Smile 360. The girl at the front desk is friendly and helpful, the office is clean and modern, and the equipment is brand new. Once you get your x-rays done (the x-ray tech is also very sweet) you move into a room with not 1 but 2 TVs to watch (one in front of you, and one on the ceiling so you can watch while they work on you). I know this seems small, but there's nothing like Shark Week to calm your nerves while you're getting your teeth cleaned. Dr. Ip is honest and straight forward. He wants to help you in the fastest and most effective way possible, without charging you a ridiculous amount of money. My first appointment was February (2013) and everyone kept telling me that they wouldn't give me a cleaning or fillings on my first time. The first time was just the consultation appointment (ie. where they judge you for not going to the dentist in years and tell you to floss), and then they would schedule an additional appointment. NOT HERE!! He did the non-judgemental consultation and told me I needed a cleaning a 2 fillings. AND THEN he said we could do it all right then!! I had to leave the room momentarily to sign the waivers with the front desk (bc insurance doesn't cover everything- but it was still inexpensive) and then I was back in the room with laughing gas and everything! I was in and out of there in about 3 hours feeling happy and relieved (and numb- obviously) that I had found a dentist that made me feel good about scheduling another appointment 6 months later. One of the best parts was when they said if I "liked them" on Facebook, I could get a professional whitening gel and a custom mouth-mold for only $15!!! It's been 6 months and I haven't even used my whole tube of whitening gel! And it works too- way better than Crest Whitestrips. Why do people spend $300 on whitening treatment at dentists? I spent $15 :) Yesterday was my 6 month checkup/cleaning and it was just as great of an experience as the first- better even because I didn't need a filling. So if you live in South/Central Austin, or you don't mind a short drive for great service, definitely go to Smile 360. When it comes to dentists, they are the best in Austin! read more

My first experience here was great. They were on time, the front desk girl is awesome, and they are super nice. More than any other dentist (and I have had a lot since I move a lot) Dr. Ip really explained things regarding my teeth...instead of just using scare tactics. Unfortunately, although Dr. Ip himself seems to be quite up to par with the latest dental technologies, his office is by far the worst I've ever seen. The staff sees you not as a patient who needs help but as a wallet. They don't take any responsibility for even what they personally instruct you to do. Before scheduling, I specifically asked them which insurance plans they accepted. They provided me with a list from which I picked a plan by Delta. Then, I made an appointment for a regular teeth cleaning. A day before the appointment they called and said that they did not accept that particular Delta plan any more! To keep doctor Ip, I decided to change my insurance. This time, to make sure that Dr. Ip's office accepted the new plan, I double checked with them and only after they confirmed that they accepted the plan, I changed my insurance to Cigna and scheduled yet another appointment. But a day before my appointment, the whole saga repeated once again! I received a call from the office saying that they do not accept my insurance (Cigna) and that I have to pay out of pocket! When I brought the whole problem to their attention, the girl at the front office very casually said that at the time she didn't realize that their office did not accept this particular plan by Cigna! When I said that it has now been over 2 years since I have seen Dr. Ip and that all these insurance changes which they themselves had initially confirmed, have cost me time and money and that in order to be able to apply my dental insurances to my dental visits I have had to wait months for each insurance change, that is why since it is they who has caused these problems, at the very least they should honour my tomorrow's visit without charge until I changed my insurance once again to one that they would accept. At this point, the girl at the front desk, without saying a thing, put me on hold and disappeared! After coming back a few minutes later, she asked "Are you still there?!" and gave the phone to her supervisor. I explained the whole situation to the supervisor saying that not only that I have lost a year to get my dental implant done - since by changing my first dental insurance (Delta) I've had to wait a whole year to be eligible for their coverage - I have had to wait another 9 months with Cigna to be eligible for my teeth cleaning. Instead of apologizing and taking responsibility for their own mess up, the supervisor told me that it was my fault that I signed up with a wrong plan (even though I said to her that I have proof of their own email confirmation for signing up with this Cigna plan!). She dismissively repeated that in order to keep my appointment tomorrow I would have to pay $286 out of pocket for my teeth cleaning! Not only that this whole saga has been nothing but frustrating and extremely aggravating, but quite frankly, this is quite a steep price to pay, especially considering that the cleaning is not even done by Dr. Ip himself, but by an assistant! So, I strongly recommend against this office - who should change their name from Smile 360 to Cry 360! read more

When I moved to Texas two years ago, I randomly picked a dentist that was covered by my insurance and since I remembered seeing the sign for Smile360, that was who I picked....and I have been beyond pleased with the service and care I have received. The receptionist always knows who I am without the help of a computer screen; I have never had to wait beyond my scheduled appointment time; the staff are all friendly; and Dr. Ip is knowledgeable and thorough. Even though I received quality dental care, their customer service is exceptional and is what will make me a patient for as long as I live in Austin. Never in the medical or dental field do I remember getting a follow-up call or email from any doctor, but I did from Dr. Ip. It was refreshing to have a doctor who cares that much about their patients and really works to resolve any issues. read more

I was in need of a dentist on short notice for a monster toothache. I read some positive reviews and made a phone call, within a few hours I was being checked out by Dr. Ip. I had the most painless tooth extraction and cavity fill ever. I was sent home with some pain killers and coupons for the Soup Peddler. His staff is exceptional. They are fast, polite, and in the 4 visits I've had, I've never waited more than 5 minutes in the waiting room or dentist chair (which has multiple TVs and the first thing they do is hand you a remote). If you are going in for a procedure, I highly recommend opting for the "laughing gas" for a nominal fee. Plus there is a pharmacy next door (also a donut shop and coffee shop, which I'm sure they'd prefer you to skip for the sake of your teeth). read more

I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Ip and his entire staff. I have a tight schedule and they try so hard to find appointment times that work. I also really don't like the dentist. Dr. Ip and all of his staff are so sensitive to difficulties with the dentist and try to provide breaks as needed during dental work. He was very patient with me, and took his time explaining each and every procedure that he would want me done. Most importantly, he did not try to up-sell anything by explaining to me what needed to be taken cared of right away, and what can wait. Dr. Ip has a group of amazing staff as well. They're highly efficient in performing their tasks, as well as being courteous to their customers, e.g., me. The facility is clean. The equipment is modern. There is even a TV mounted onto the ceiling, so that you can watch TV while the doctor operates on your teeth, which helps taking some anxiety away. This is VERY long overdue, but a necessary review. Smile 360 is the bomb! I started going here 3 years ago and have since gotten my husband and all of my friends to become regulars :) I can't share only one experience, but here are the reasons you should go to Smile 360: 1) The office- clean, bright, and TVs on the ceiling :) It's small enough for attentive care but big enough to be able to offer all of the latest tooth technology (most of which you'd never hear of otherwise!) 2) Awesome staff!- Sarah the hygienist is really knowledgeable and made me feel really comfortable (even as someone who hates going to the dentist ) the office staff always makes sure to fit me in, even when I call and reschedule 2-3 times (sorry!) They even did a same-day fit in for my friend who broke her tooth and fixed my friend's loose bracket on her braces that was visiting from PERU at no charge! 3) Dr. Ip- T.H.E. B.E.S.T. I would like to express my appreciation to Dr. Ip and the wonderful staff at Smile 360. I have always had a fear of dental work since my childhood and as a result, would put off visits to the dentist. I have also been to some dentists that left me feeling horrible about my teeth. Dr. Ip is awesome. He actually called me 2 days after my filling to check on me- no dentist has ever done that! He is very kind and explains things, which added a level of comfort. The best dentist and staff I've ever used. After having to move from Austin for a new career, I now drive 6 hours (without traffic) to visit Dr. Ip and his staff and would not have it any other way. They are always friendly, professional and the number 1 reason - my teeth are now healthy and perfect. After years of bad dental work, I was always leery of going to the dentist.
