I had previously gone to Swish Mueller Family but had toured this flagship location at a Yelp Elite event. This location had the closest appointment so I went ahead and booked an appt. for 9am on my birthday (haha). I went ahead and signed up for their annual plan which was a little over $280 for two cleanings and one X-ray per year (my current dental insurance is awful). I luckily got Nicole as my dental hygienist and I cannot recommend her enough! She constantly checks on you during your appointment to ensure ultimate comfort and safety. I had her before at Mueller Family and couldn't believe I got to see her again! Dr. Evan was incredible, too, so I booked with them again in 6 months. I had a new mouth guard made at no charge since it had been a year since the last one was made. Nicole does a wonderful job at cleaning teeth, recommending products, and just being her awesome self! I have never seen dentistry like this. Parking can be a little tricky but just make sure you follow their texted instructions to a T. Will be back over and over again! read more

I visited last Monday for a second time to continue my cleaning . The hygienist was very unpleasant and highly condescending towards me . There apparently was a 20 minute session needed that could not be completed the week before. I expressed my displeasure for the billing strategy of this office in a online review . This office has a mantra of touting their standards of care vs insurance companies opinion of care needed. The office standard of care for instance requires patients to have cleaning 4 times per year even if you insurance allows one or two times per year . My first visit included several $100 dollar's of billing exceeded my insurance allowance - In short a cleaning X-ray and exam consumed 100% of annual medicare allowance - During my visit the 20 minute cleaning was the most painful 20 mins at a dentist in my life . Silly me for returning after expressing my negative experience online in a review as I believe it was absolute payback Ive had two visits and I am told it is going to take on more visit for fluoride application and additional perio fine scaling which I am told is the office standard . To date I haven't received a tooth polishing which you would typically expect to be some part of teeth cleaning. So three visits and deep cleaning. laser bacteria removal, numbing gel application and a long list of optional items billed but not required by insurance standards.ie: they charge for applying numbing gel but insurance allows numbing injections at no charge but the office doesn't tell you that because its more profitable to charge for - In my two visits I believe total cost was $60 The office appears to bill as much as the insurance will accept .It appears to me the goal of this office is to maximize billing against a patient's insurance and consume the insurance dollars ASAP This is not beneficial to the patient because if your entire insurance allowance is consumed for one cleaning, X-ray and exam the balance of any dental work needed comes 100% out of pocket- clearly a higher profit endeavor for the office . It stood out to me that this office prefers to bring back patients several times rather than completing procedures when possible in one visit - ie last year my dentist in San Antonio/Not Swish performed a full mouth deep periodontal cleaning in one visit . my current deep cleaning hasn't yet been completed in two visits and this cleaning was not for entire mouth just a small portion- This office during my two visits was only moderately busy with many staff on duty. My experience at this office is that not until after receiving service did I actually understand the billing details . At 66 years old I am utilizing my medicare benefits. I am allowed $1500 to use on dental care . Fact : after contributing to social security for 50 years - yes since I was 16 like many I' m sure. I cannot accept a business strategy from anyone that clearly isn't patient centric/customer centric. The United States government provides me these benefits for my dental well being and not for a private business to conjure strategies that clearly do not prioritize the patient there is enough related news stories today on similar topics whereby loopholes are used to benefit private businesses while maximizing payouts from the government. I am still weighing my experience with this office in this light to fully understand the standards of care for a patient and I am trying to fully understand how important my dental care is when weighing it against billing techniques and communication. I do not object to any business making profit but there is a right way and a wrong way to generate profit I always believed you built a successful business by taking care of people in a sincere manner so they are motivated to tell their friends and themselves will return .Billing at Swish dental in my opinion is emblematic of get rich quick scheme Ive read articles about venture capital firms having interest in purchasing medical offices from private operators.I am sure office valuations have a lot to do with billing revenue and I wouldn't be surprised if it was measured on a patient by patient basis . If this is true patient satisfaction wouldn't be the priority . I decided on this office because of its location and wish I would have read the reviews before making the appointment . read more

Unfortunately, this was one of the most frustrating dental experiences I've had due to poor communication and lack of transparency. I began my Invisalign treatment here after it was recommended during a cleaning, and the initial scans, trays, and payments went smoothly. After that, things went downhill. I experienced repeated appointment confusion where I would come in and be told my appointment was a different day despite my follow up messages being the correct date. I had unexpected procedures (including interproximal reduction/tooth shaving with no warning), and surprise charges I didn't know existed. I was often told I had an outstanding balance, only to later be told it was an insurance issue or a miscommunication on their end when I questioned the charges further. During a routine cleaning and Invisalign check, one of my fillings was flossed out by a hygienist, which led to an emergency temp crown, significant pain due to the local anesthesia not working, and an unplanned treatment plan totaling over $1,000 just days before Christmas. The situation was handled with very little empathy, as I was told the filling "looked liked" it was about to break in previous scans, although they had never disclosed that to me or warned me ahead of time. I felt pressured into payment plans while still in pain and upset over the whole experience. Follow-up crown visits were also painful and felt disorganized and inexperienced, and I was told I may need a root canal for the crown that they had just placed. Over a filling that broke during my cleaning. Communication has been consistently unprofessional. Every call about Invisalign involves being transferred multiple times with no clear answers. What should have been an exciting process left me feeling stressed, taken advantage of, and discouraged. I would strongly caution others to ask detailed questions and proceed carefully if you are doing anything more than a cleaning. read more

I have a tooth ache and no insurance, so I make an appointment and write up what I need and would like a call back to give pricing, they called and said $250 for an exam then they will tell me what is needed and what that cost will be even if they want to send me for a root canal redo. I asked what if i just want to have it pulled, nope still exam fee and they will tell me what they will do. I cancelled and will look elsewhere, they didn't even offer their plan to help with cost. The staff here are friendly and professional, but I decided to switch to another dentist. When I started treatment, I was told that certain services were covered by my Delta Dental insurance. Several months later after the service was provided, I was contacted and told that the insurance had denied payment, and that I was responsible for the full amount. I understand that these things can happen, but it would have helped if the office had confirmed coverage with the insurer before assuring me otherwise. In the past, other clinics have done that so I could make a more informed decision. It left me feeling that the situation was handled casually, and that the financial risk was placed on me rather than shared responsibly. On July 1, 2025, I had four fillings placed by Dr. Parth Patel at Swish Dental Downtown. Within days, I experienced sharp pain when flossing, gum inflammation, and the feeling of something stuck between my teeth. I sought a second opinion from another in-network Delta Dental provider on July 9. Their documented findings: * Tooth #20: Overcontoured with a ledge causing gum irritation * Tooth #29: Undercontoured with open composite gaps * Tooth #30: Broken restoration with excess composite and open margin They advised that these fillings were defective and needed replacement -- and that only one of the four teeth treated actually required a filling at the time. The other three could have been monitored. I contacted Swish with the findings, requesting a refund. They replied once saying my case was being reviewed, then never responded to multiple follow-ups. I had to pay out-of-pocket to fix the work elsewhere due to insurance limitations. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Swish Dental Downtown for either quality of care or accountability. read more

I'm probably one of very few folks who absolutely love to get their teeth cleaned and looks forward to it. Coming to their downtown location always gives me a chance to make a day out of downtown and run errands nearby. When you make an appointment here, take advantage of their complimentary parking for the garage connected to the building. The lobby is so well maintained and its so chic. I love the mini fridge with bevvies to enjoy while in the waiting room. Every room has a large smart screen tv to have something playing while in the office for any routine work. I've been here for teeth cleanings, minor surgery to smooth a tooth over, and teeth whitening. Every time I've gone in, it has been a true five-star experience. Extremely disappointing experience. I mistakenly enrolled in their coverage last year and quickly regretted it. The pricing is unreasonable--they overcharge for everything. I had several fillings done, and within a short time, cavities developed inside those fillings. Clearly, the work was not done properly. When I asked to have them fixed, they agreed--but only if I paid $250 just for the dentist to look at them. I've since moved and have a new dentist. I've already paid for an exam and X-rays, and the new office confirmed that the fillings in question are the same ones done last year. Even with clear X-ray evidence, this place is completely disorganized and no one can give a consistent answer. I used Swish for several years. I had multiple issues to which they attempted to correct. Although, after my last cleaning I was told I had 5 cavities and needed a night guard. Thousands out of pocket costs. The dentist was extremely rude in terms of the issues I was facing and almost seemed as she was bullying me into scheduling immediately. Made statements like "wow, this is bad" "hmm what have you done differently this is concerning??" I decided to get a second opinion. I started at the dentist this summer for a cleaning and to get retainers fitted. I was promised retainers within two weeks. Two months later they still hadn't been delivered and no one thought to mention this to me. I finally showed up for my retainers to be installed two months later, the retainers still hadn't been delivered but no one from the office mentioned that so I showed up to the office for my scheduled (and confirmed) appointment only to be told I'd have to come back. When I did come back, the retainers did not fit. I was promised a full refund in July. It is November and I have not been fully refunded. I continue to call and get run around between manager to manager without receiving my money back. I am promised calls with updates and they never happen. It's been months without my money back for a service that was beyond delayed and then never delivered. I am resorting to yelp merely because I cannot think of anything else to do. 150 dollars is a lot of money (especially as a grad student) and it has been owed back to me for months. My husband and I both good whitening right before our wedding and both had a great experience there. Amy took care of us and she was sweet, funny, and super informative! I have very sensitive teeth and only needed a touch-up so I got a "Boost" - it's a no-blue light whitening, it takes 30 minutes, in 45 minutes you're in and out with whiter (and sensitive for a few days) teeth! Note that you still are not allowed for coffee, red wine and other food/drinks that could stain your teeth for 48 hours. My husband got the Zoom whitening (90 minutes and gets you typically 5-8 shades whiter!) I sat there with him, it's 4 sessions of 15 minutes. They have a screen and you can watch your favorite netflix show so it goes by "fast". The place is clean, new and super modern, I love that! They also validate parking in the same building, super convenient. Overall, I highly recommend if you're considering whitening your teeth or just looking for a new dentist! read more

First off, I will say it takes A LOT for me to write any sort of review, so that alone tells you what a horrible experience I've had. I came here on a referral from the Kyle location to get Botox for TMJ. Was quoted $1,200 for "hardly any" Botox needed once I got here. In my opinion, that is an insane amount for "hardly any." I told the Dr. that I only wanted enough to cover the $100 non- refundable deposit that is used toward Botox treatment when you book. Was told that I could spend $60 extra. Reiterated that I was only interested in spending the $100. I have now been sitting in the office for 90 MINUTES waiting (about 5 of which has been an actual interaction with the Dr.). After getting another quote ($98), I see that they quoted me for Botox in the temple (I specifically came for TMJ). Felt like I was trying to be upsold and when I wouldn't go for it, completely disregarded. Overall, I would file this under "HUGE inconvenience and waste of time/money." This has been enough of a negative experience to write off "Swish", entirely. read more

RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN from SWISH Dental I would give them 0 stars if I could. I scheduled a cleaning, and to start they did an hour and a half of X-rays and scans (which I was ok with). First, they brought in a doctor to review the scans and the first thing she said was I see you have veneers and tried to tell me I needed to redo all of them + adding 2 more at $2000 a tooth. Mind you, I have been to a few other dentists recently and said my Veneers look fine and have 5-10 more years left. The doctor told me I would be fine for cleaning, they then brought in the "hygienist" who told me I would need to come back for 2 separate deep cleanings that I would need to pay for out of pocket. Third, they sell EVERYONE invisalign. They make a huge profit off of selling Invisalign to their clients. I have talked to a few friends who were sold Invisalign from them. I had braces for over 4 years and my teeth are nearly perfect. When I told them this and that I would be getting a second opinion they started back peddling and saying "How good my teeth looked" to try to save themselves. Lastly, they send you a potential cost breakdown bill with their treatment, without the veneers I was looking at over $8300. I showed the invoice to a dentist and she told me they were charging for things (numb gel, etc) that most dentists do not charge for aka should be free. She also said they shouldn't be pricing out Invisalign without connecting with the company and showing them your scans. She also said that the roots on some of my teeth are so small that they should not be touching let alone trying to move them without the help of a skilled orthodontist. DO NOT let Swish screw up your teeth and drain your wallet. They are in the business of making money not patient care. I have gone to this location a few times, and each time have seen a different dentist. On my last visit, I had a new dentist jump in to put on some bonding on a tooth. In the middle of the quick procedure, he started filing down my natural tooth. He did this not only without me asking for permission but without even clearing it with me ahead of time. When I stopped him, he said it was only minor - and at that point had already started it. I was surprised that he would file my natural tooth unnecessarily and it seemed like he didn't think it was worth his time to discuss. They have also recommended getting some major work done that a second opinion clarified wasn't necessary. All of the support staff is very sweet, but I definitely won't be going back. read more

I just moved to Austin from Indiana and was a little nervous to go to a new dentist. However, the super clean office and friendly staff made it exciting to have a new dentist! Riley was super efficient and informative with my Invisalign consultation and made me feel welcomed and comfortable during the process. He went above and beyond and exceeded my expectations with any dental assistant I have ever interacted with, a great guy! Also, Doctor Nessler was also insanely nice and really took the time to understand my goals with my teeth. Swish Dental, the fast-food equivalent of a dental office. Am I unsatisfied? Extremely...beyond. Have any of my concerns/issues been resolved? Absolutely not. I am not a difficult customer, I do not complain, I treat others with professionalism and respect, and yet here we are. My experience: came in for an Invisalign consultation, was immediately pressured into payment by Nyssa at the downtown location. After asking to follow-up with the dentist for orthodontic-related questions, I was not contacted. I came in for additional comprehensive cleaning appt, still committed to making this work and was still not able to communicate with the dentist about my Invisalign-related questions. Waited an additional week, requested a refund and was told I initially had a 30-day window of the original Invisalign quote but because I had already made (a $1000) deposit/down-payment, there were no refunds allowed. I then shared my concerns with the regional manager, Delilah, who still has not made any attempt to resolve the issue. Literally has not returned a single phone call since after promising to follow-up with me. I am now out $1000 for an Invisalign scam of a ponzi scheme with no Invisalign treatment. The office is clean and well kept, with really nice high tech equipment. They explained everything they were going through clearly, and answered all of my questions throughly.
