Not honest business. They overcharged me for a crown and only found out when my insurance pinged me to say I overpaid as they paid this dentist in July - that was in JULY. I asked for a refund in July it is now almost November they are still holding onto my money from overpayment when my insurance paid them in July (I have receipts in writing from insurance) I wanted to go in for another treatment and they told me it would further delay me getting paid what I overpaid from my last treatment to probably the new year - insane right? They're holding onto my money and told me bc they have to file a new claim with insurance even though I have a pre authorization they have to hold my money from July 2025 to January 2026 which I overpaid This place cares more about money than taking care of their patients clearly read more

The staff at Enamel is extremely friendly. I've hardly had to wait for my appointments, except recently - that too just for ten mins. When you walk into the office, you're greeted by this mural that's is so vibrant, it makes my day each time. The RDAs and the dentists take utmost care of their patients and are always smiling. The good thing about this place is that it comes across as genuinely want to provide good patient care, without upselling things like are you happy with your smile - get invisaligns. Initially I came to enamel dentistry because of all of the 5 star reviews... but unfortunately I had a 1 star experience. One year ago I came to get a cleaning after a few months of graduating college as I was on my own for the first time trying to be a responsible young adult. For full transparency, the last time I had gotten a cleaning was in 2020 before the pandemic so I had not been to a dentist in a while and I knew I likely had a cavity due to occasionally chewing melatonin gummies right before bed. For an outsider's perspective, my teeth look very white and straight, I overall take very good care of my teeth and make sure to brush 2x a day and floss daily. My only short coming was brushing BEFORE taking the melatonin gummies and not after because- if I brush then I will not feel sleepy anymore. Before coming in for my appointment, my two cousins who are Harvard educated oral surgeons took a peek at my teeth (without an Xray) and said that my gums looked normal, and that my teeth were overall healthy but that I might have a cavity in two areas but they would not be able to tell me for sure until I got an Xray. So coming to enamel dentistry, I saw Dr. Kristen Ferrante DDS and she told me that my teeth were in bad condition that I was not a candidate for a regular cleaning (which is supposed to be $0 with insurance) and that I NEEDED a DEEP cleaning. For reference, people who need deep cleanings are those who might have gingivitis! I DO NOT have gingivitis. Deep cleaning take 1-2 hours and involves general anesthesia. Right before the cleaning I did not know this information and I trusted the doctor although I was very skeptical. She said that I had 5's and 6's, and pointed out how my insurance will only allow them to clean 1 side of my mouth at a time and each visit will be $100-150 dollars.... I trusted the dentist so I did half of my mouth even though I was very confused. I did not have the time to send my cousin the Xray to confirm because she was at work and it had been years since I had been to the dentist, it was my day off so I needed to get it done... etc. I kept asking questions, but Dr. Ferrante kept telling me that a deep cleaning was the best for me and that later on I needed a crown for one of my teeth so I went for it. She did the cleaning for me and it took 15 minutes TOPS, NO local anesthetic (I am actually allergic to the most common anesthetic so I know for a FACT that they did not just give it to me because I have anaphylactic reactions to what they use and dental offices always need to order the certain kind of anesthetic that my body can take. In short, she gave me a regular cleaning, but yet scammed me and charged me a deep cleaning fee and told me that that was what I needed. I showed my cousin the xray after and she was enraged for me because I did not need a deep cleaning, crown, and did not have 5's and 6's. I consulted with 3 different dentists and they all agreed that Enamel dentistry did me wrong. Afterwards Dr. Ferrante called me due to my complaint to the office after the visit, and she told me to go to my cousin instead of her next time. Trust me, I wish I could my cousin as my regular dentist but she lives in Boston, MA. The other dentists at this office might be wonderful, but this was not my experience. I've been coming to enamel around 2017/2018. But they have changed and don't care about patient care anymore! Do not come here! I trusted these docs so much but just be advised you will randomly see the same doc you trust. My Invisalign was a joke! Never had the same dentist and tried to give me retainers several times even though my trays were not up. I honestly think they gave me the wrong retainers. Please go to a legit dentist that doesn't pass you off! They try to persuade you with tickets to drafthouse or alcohol but it's not worth it! Find a reputable place that isn't in for the money. The staff here is very nice, however, I'm not happy with how they handled a new Covid surcharge. We were never told when scheduling that they now pass on a $12 Covid surcharge for each patient. I've been coming to Enamel Dentistry on South Lamar for about 6 years now, and always had a great experience, but they now have this new doctor, Dr. Celia Rathmell, who messed up a simple filling for me so bad that I am going to leave the practice to avoid risk of being scheduled with her again. It wasn't even the filling itself (which by her own words she wasn't able to put in well and said it will likely need to be re-done in 2-3 months) but the damage she did to my gums while doing the filling. She literally had to stop and have me sign another consent form for laser treatment to be able to stop the amounts of blood gushing from my gums. She did not explain what was happening, what the laser treatment entails, she just acted as if it's no big deal. After she was done, she said my gums must have bled so much because I just had a cleaning last week and my gums must have been still irritated. This doesn't even make sense to me, my gums were not irritated that morning to explain such amount of bleeding, and I have never had such gum bleeding issue in the past, and I've done many many fillings in my life, so I feel like I know what to expect. After I left the clinic, I was shocked to see my face in the mirror. The entire side of my face was swollen twice the size, I looked like a hamster with a walnut behind my cheek! I have never in my life had such a reaction to a simple filling, and even this particular filling I've already done twice before with zero issues! For the next 4 days I could not eat, smile, talk, open my mouth wide, it even hurt to apply lotion to my face because the area was so tender. My face was swollen for days! Honestly, I felt assaulted by this doctor, especially after she acted so nonchalant, as if it's normal procedure, and did not even acknowledge the swelling, abnormal amounts of blood and the pain! It is 2 weeks later now, and I feel like I have scar tissue on my gums that may be permanent, and I still can't brush my teeth on that side very well, because the gums are so tender. It kind of feels like she just cut off a piece of my gum at the base of my tooth and slapped a filling on top of it. I don't feel like she acted within best practices of competent care, or even just as a normal human, who acknowledges and apologizes for her mistakes, and I will certainly be finding myself another dentist. All the great reviews you see are for previous dentists who worked there, but now it's Dr. Celia Rathmell and one other dentist, I think, so decide for yourself if you want to risk it with her, as most reviews do not reflect her particular work. P.S.: After I called the practice to complain, the manager (who was very nice and empathetic) got me a free appointment with one of the clinic's owners, Dr. Patel. However, it was a further disappointment. Dr. Patel listened to my complaint and I quote, said "the REAL problem here is your bite, which is why you needed the filling in the first place. Have you considered Invisalign?" Seriously?? You are going to blame me and use this as an opportunity to try to sell me Invisalign? I am not buying anything this clinic is selling. Enamel Dentistry is amazing. The staff is always so sweet. Even when you call for an appointment, you can hear their kindness and willingness to help. During my first appointment, the dentist had a 3D scan of my teeth and showed me tooth by tooth what was going on. I really felt like I understood my dental health after my conversations with the staff there. They recently took my wisdom teeth out and it was easy peazy. I didn't even know they were knocking me out (in a good way). I was sitting up watching Netflix on their tv and covered up all cozy. I also made a last minute appointment today because I was nervous about my healing. They took me straight in, checked me out, gave me a few items and didn't even charge me for the office visit. I'll start off by saying that I truly trusted my doctor and the staff was always very kind, minus the accounting person but hey, someone's gotta make sure people pay their hefty dental bills on time. Here's my god awful story though. I signed up for a plan with Enamel to have one of my canine teeth extracted, it was a baby tooth with no permanent tooth behind it. The original billing person was very kind, I loved chatting with them and they took the time to be extremely thorough when they explained my bill and what to expect for my payment plan, I asked questions, etc. the total process was to be around $1900. I signed a piece of paper stating so and the way my monthly payments lined up, it made sense. The day I go in for my extraction, after being numbed up, I start to realize this is a different process than I imagined and that I was never actually told about the whole process beforehand. (For some reason I expected to get a new tooth the same day, this is definitely my mistake) so while numb in the face the doctor informs me that they will be removing my tooth, and for 2 months while it heals, I will be without a canine. This was pretty shocking but we're here and I've already been paying monthly, let's do it. 2 mos roll around, they don't have an available spot for another month. 3 months roll around and I'm feeling pretty awful about this tooth being gone (yes they gave me a retainer with a fake tooth to wear but honestly it looked so bad I just went without). I finally get my appointment to fit me for my implant and the doctor goes "we're all out of molds right now, we will need to schedule another appointment". Excuse me, what? That was the whole purpose of this appointment? I'm starting to get obviously crushed.. then he asks me if I'm sure I don't want to take the time to get my teeth straightened before the implant. Uhhh yeah I'm pretty sure I don't want to do that. This is also the first time he's ever mentioning this. I come BACK in and they are about to take my molds when they inform me that I OWED THEM MORE MONEY. I was confused because I had been paying my plan for months now, in full, on time. What more could I owe? They informed me that I had only been on a payment plan for the "first half" of my procedure and that I would need to set up a new plan for $2000 in total with a $500 deposit to get fitted for my implant and finish up the process and asked me how I wanted to pay THAT DAY. I was livid and asked to see my original paperwork. They couldn't send it to me so they worked out a "deal" and acted like the doctor was missing out on so much money. I FINALLY get my tooth molded, drive out all the way to Bee Cave to have it color matched then back to the office (all separate days/appointments) and in horror, this tooth looks like some grayish/ultra white dead tooth! Even the doctor notices and tries to get me to whiten my teeth to match it?? I said no, I needed it color matched and did the whole process again. That's when I get hit with a contract that says if the doctor has to color match me again I'll have to pay the entire amount over... Needless to say I would never recommend this place. I stopped paying my monthly payments and blocked their number. I don't care. Send me to collections. Had I known the price and that it would take over 6mos without a front tooth I would've just stuck with the baby one. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!! I would have given negative stars if I could. I paid 500$ for a crown procedure and it just fell off in 5 days. It could have fallen off when I was sleeping and caused a choking hazard !! My teeth was just doing fine and I had no pain/sensitivity /trouble there. I decided to get preventative measures and now I am in pain and so much money wasted too!!! The office manager gave very generic response of e well look into it and no advice on what can be done next. I don't know about y'all but for me 500 is a lot to spend on a single teeth for it to just fall off and given no guidance. They also gave local anesthesia in areas they didn't work on, which caused my jaw to seize and was not able to close my mouth. I had 3 bad experiences with them and here is the long version of it 1. Expensive crown procedure went wrong with many inconveniences throughout I went for a filling on Jan 3, Tuesday. The images were taken in May. The dentist was not the one I have seen in May. He did not check my current state . Mid way through the cleaning he told me that crown would be better suited, but did not explain anything about it. I had no idea what it is. I was taken aback by the price tag, but decided to get it done. I thought it would be done on same day as nothing else was communicated to me. After cutting my tooth down to a stump, dentist told me that I need to come back in two weeks to get the permanent crown done. I didn't even know that there would be a temporary and permanent part to this procedure !!! That's how less it was explained to me . I was moving to Seattle that Sunday and it would be so expensive to come back for this as procedure itself was expensive. I asked if I can do this in Seattle and their response was that most likely no other dentist will take up the crown work from another dentisT. How convenient for enamel to just start an expensive procedure without giving any explanation!!! I asked them to rush it and they were able to get a permanent crown made by Friday . I was happy that I could finish it before relocation. Teeth was painful and sensitive for several days and I was living on fruit juices and protein shakes . On Tuesday (Jan 10), just 5 days from permanent crown, it just fell off when I ate a bread! A sandwich bread with eggs !! Not even a hard food ! It just fell into my hand. I was lucky that it didn't fall off when I was sleeping 2. Extremely bad responses and disregard for your time /health I had a meeting on the day I went to get the filling done. I called ahead and checked timings. My appointment was at 8, meeting is at 11. It was supposed to be a 1.5 hour procedure . I had more than enough time to get back to office for meeting as my office was just a mile away. I checked multiple times and told them about my hard stop on time. With all this change I procedures they made, I missed my meeting which was very important and caused me issues are work. When I called to file complaint about the fallen crown, the office manager gave very generic response of r will look into it in 24-48 hours. They did not give any guidance on what can be done next. She said I might have to get another crown done in Seattle. That would be 1000$ on just one tooth. I am not rich enough to just roll out 1000s on a single tooth which was doing fine before I went to this dentist. They do not care about your time or money or teeth 3. Unnecessary local anesthesia I went for filling and needed it done in upper left and lower right. Images were taken 8 months ago and doctor didn't even do a basic check and just proceeded to give me anesthesia on both upper left and lower right. Mid procedure he asked to do crown on upper left. He didn't get time to do lower right and I was given anesthesia for no reason. Even if he did end up getting to my lower right teeth, anesthesia would have seared out by that time. This review is for the administrative staff and their cancellation policy - the actual dentistry experience I had at enamel was fine when I was there last. I had a cleaning scheduled for Tuesday but on Sunday started to feel symptoms and tested positive for Covid. I promptly sent a text message to let them know and their response was that they were going to charge me $50 for a cancellation as this was less than 48 hours prior to the appointment. Years ago, I had one dental office that set the bar, and after moving from city to city, no one has even come remotely close...except Enamel! Dr. C is an absolute GEM! He's personable, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. Usually, you might see the dentist for 2 seconds at the end of a cleaning, but Dr. C. took his time with visually walking me through my x-rays, talking to me about my concerns and making me feel completely at ease. I had some cavities between my teeth that needed filled, and I'm not going to lie...it was an intense process, but Dr. C. made sure I was comfortable and made it as quick and tolerable as possible. Aside from the top notch actual dentistry aspect, they have an awesome office, Rokus with Netflix in every room, a "smile menu" with things like WINE and BEER, scented warm towels, neck pillows, etc. This is the experience that everyone should have in any kind of medical/dental office - it makes it more bearable (dare I say...fun?!) and it makes you feel like you're a priority and not just a patient. read more

The problem is that I received a text two hours before my appointment literally reminding me that I had that appointment and to show up for it, not asking for confirmation. They have continually acted with disrespect for us as customers in terms of our time, money and even applicable local laws, and we will not be going there any more. The dentist and clinical staff are really nice and professional put me at ease but I feel like the administration and billing staff are kind of a mess. Dr Patel really helped educate me on everything involving my teeth and what's needed and despite one billing/insurance issue, I booked in my second appt in two weeks get going on some cosmetic improvement on my teeth (possible crowns or veneers). Yesterday I received an email saying I needed to get in touch with the clinic regarding my appt and that my number was disconnected, so I immediately replied with the best number to reach me that they could call anytime and also attempted to call the office 3X with no answer (during business hours) Then within a couple hours after the email the office manager emails me saying he's cancelled my appointment and all further appointments with the office. My appointment is still weeks away and I've just never dealt with a place that cancels you out as a future patient within a couple hours but is also impossible to get ahold of. One of my fillings fell out and I found this dentist office through Yelp. My first impression was that the office had just opened. The X-ray machine is in the front and there were empty tv boxes in a few of the rooms. The woman who took the photos of my teeth kept catching the camera on the back of my teeth as she yanked it out of my mouth. Surprisingly though, the office has been open for 3 years. The other thing that I really didn't like is that if you don't confirm your appointment, they cancel it. I got 2 voicemails on Thursday saying if I didn't confirm my appointment by noon Friday, they'd cancel the appointment. I didn't listen to them until late Friday but they didn't even give me 24 hours notice. I got the text message on Saturday asking me to confirm so I did and thought everything was ok. Come Monday, I found out that my appointment had still been cancelled. My doctor, gyno, hair stylist, and everyone else charges fees if you miss an appointment but they don't cancel it if you don't confirm.... The last straw was the pricing. After insurance, my cost for everything would have been $2200 and that was in-network costs. I went to a second office to price check and for the exact same plan, the second office charged me less than $1000. Every office in Austin is closed today, Friday, even though their website states they are open on Fridays. No one is answering the phones. We were able to reach a random person in a Dallas office and was told there is nothing they can do. There is not a single dentist in the entire Austin area, from any of their seven offices in Austin, that is on call to help when the dental work they did is defective. read more

At the end of my last appointment I was left super freaked out because Dr. C found some sort of mass above my back molars and referred me to a oral surgeon. I was totally freaked out for weeks (it takes two weeks to get into the surgeon)! The oral surgeon looked at me like I was crazy - he literally referred you FOR THIS?! It was tori, which is super common and basically explained that any dentist should know what tori looks like. She was shocked. Easy 5 stars. Never liked the dentist but when I stepped foot into this office Tame Impala was playing and I was instantly more relaxed. From the quick paperless check in to the legit 7 minute painless cleaning, the customer service was on point and made me feel comfortable. My jaw pain and crooked tooth always bothered me and they presented an easy, affordable solution and answered all my questions. Within 3 weeks my smile will be perfect and jaw issue gone. This would be a great fit for you if you are 100% sure you won't EVER need any dental work done besides basic cleaning, and you are willing to be upsold at every cleaning appointment. They have tried to sell me flouride treatments, expensive night guards, extra x-rays, you name it. Don't be fooled by their marketing techniques and office "perks" like free water bottles, toothbrushes, and fancy office. They don't really care about you other than your money. 1. Dr. Ferrante actually made my tooth WORSE after operating on it. There was also little explanation for the purpose of the procedure and recommendation for afterwards. 2. Dr. Granados, their traveling endodontist, was not able to give a sufficient explanation for why he couldn't operate on my root canal, leaving me to have to get an expensive second opinion. 3. Dr. Dillon forced a bite guard in my mouth so large that I ended the appointment literally in tears from the pain. 4. Gina, their office manager, messed up three times in trying to charge me. She ended up trying to tell me that I owed them close to $1500 upfront for a crown that has yet to be placed (in addition to the $1400 root canal). It took TWO WEEKS after the initial request to start the process of canceling my line of credit with them. 5. Oh but the worst is their secretaries, Sylvia and Frida, who are utterly and wholly incapable of higher level thinking. I called around 8 times throughout a couple of weeks to try to get my emergency tooth extraction before a trip (which I gave them specific instructions about) but apparently they need to "check everything with the dr," and are not capable of returning calls in an appropriate time period. You need to hire more competent secretaries who are capable of critical thinking. Critical thinking is the process by which one is able to put together facts and come to a logical conclusion. It's also called higher level thinking, also known as intelligence. TO DATE, I have a rotting tooth in my skull and am desperately looking for a dentist in town who can actually operate on it in a timely manner. I will no longer be visiting this establishment. What's interesting is they didn't ask for any x-rays or past medical history ahead of time, which goes to show their primary concern is making money, not preserving health. Another thing is that they don't clean their sunglasses (for looking up into the light). What else don't they clean in this "sterile, medical" environment? Competency was all I was looking for. Before Enamel Dentistry, I had never had a 5-star dental experience in my life. I get major anxiety visiting the dentist, but that quickly dissipated here. My regular dentist is closed and not answering any emails or phone calls and I had a concern about my crowns. It was easy to schedule a quick exam and cleaning and Maddy reached out via email to confirm additional details and information they needed. They are taking proper measures to ensure that they're being as safe as possible with COVID-19, which is reassuring. They were also just really friendly and educational. The hygienist gave me insight into my tooth pain that nobody had ever mentioned before (I have bad allergies and my sinuses can impact my tooth sensitivity). They also took photos of my teeth and actually went over my xrays and photos to make sure I understood what the doctor saw. They went over the patient plan and worked with my insurance, to make the whole process as painless as possible. Bonus: they offer Netflix on the tv while you're sitting in the exam chair. How often do you hear the word "awesome" associated with a dentist? This office does everything right: friendly staff, informative dentist (Dr. Patel), modern facilities, perks like Roku and a free water bottle. I have only one suggestion: foot massage. read more

I would say, first visit was good as the nurse was good and experienced. Second visit was with a new nurse and she wasn't confident about what she is doing and seemed kind of scared. I don't want someone to try their skill on my jaw especially when I'm suffering from a severe jaw pain. Doc suggested a night guard for the pain and guess what they forgot to take the impressions. I realized it in the parking lot so, had to go back in again. Now, third visit - the night guard. It wasn't a perfect fit so, Dr. Hardik did some adjustments. The weirdest thing - he didn't clean it well before letting me try it again and again (and I asked him to clean it more than twice). All the acrylic particles in my mouth, it was GROSS!! It wasn't clean when even they handed it to me. And I'm charged me $50 more for the night guard than what they told me before. I wish they had cleared it with me beforehand. Overall, it's a very typical business facility where they would be very nice on your first visit and after that they don't care much. Updates - My last visit was really good with Dr. Hardik.
