After many years, I feel it is time to review Schmid. I went to Dr. Schmid for a better smile, I had a crown on my front tooth from a childhood injury, had many different crowns that did not look great and hoped that he could improve my smile. He was very convincing and confident, I was willing to pay the high price to fix my issue. He recommended replacing this crown and putting a veneer on the adjacent front tooth so that my front teeth would match well. Though he was careful to find the right match and even sent back crowns/veneers that were not high quality, I end up with a worse and embarrassing smile which has impacted me significantly. One of my front teeth is very high and the other is low, the high tooth looks like a rabbit and it prevents me from fully smiling. I have consulted with numerous dentists and there is nothing that can be done to remedy this problem. In sum, he made my smile much worse. Furthermore, after I went to him for regular dental care and he told me I needed a root canal and proclaimed he was an expert in root canals, he was unable to properly perform a root canal. It took him three attempts and he even dropped the drill into my lower palate (not sure of the term) resulting in a sizable and painful hole which necessitated pain medication. He had no idea what he was doing. To make things worse, every time I came in for routine care his hygienist practically interrogated me about my previous breast cancer as if that had anything to do with my dental care, as if she was my oncologist and this was when I was in remission far behind the end of my cancer treatment. His attempt at treating my TMJ issues made them much worse. Thank goodness I found a neuromuscular dentist with more advanced training to take over. Although Dr. Schmid is a nice enough person when nothing is going wrong, he showed irritation several times when he was frying me with his TENS (using it much, much too long) and I could not hide my pain. Also, if you like loud country music bouncing off all the hard surfaces, you will like his office, but it's rather hard to take when you are in agony. I had really great veneers put on, 17 years ago, and when one broke this year, I went to several "eager" dentists, for the replacement. After a year of frustrating and disappointing outcomes , in matching the new veneer, I decided it was time to replace all 8, expensive, of course. But here is what happened....I did some research , read several dentist's reviews, considered the photos in their gallery, but knew it would come down to my gut feelings, in making a decision. I have paid the price , many times, by choosing a specialist, based on money, yelp reviews etc but sometimes it is a starting place. I called Dr Schmid's office for a consultation, and immediately liked the way the initial call went -Bobbi is in the perfect role for her personality; professional yet warm and engaging, inviting and encouraging without being solicitous. I've been going to dentists all my life, but Dr Schmid took my teeth & made them better - veneers to cover the gaps & cheaper-than-implants crowns on a couple of 40-yr old BABY teeth so I could keep them another 40 years! He taught me that healthy gums are every bit as important as good teeth, and showed me how to keep them that way. Unlike most other dentists who go thru the motions, Dr Schmid makes proactive observations if he sees a potential problem developing and tells you how to correct the situation. Many years ago I had veneers put on 4 teeth with beautiful results; although its been some time, I recall that the work was done quickly, painlessly and - most importantly - perfectly. I also had Invisalign to straighten a few bottom teeth - again...a great result. Most recently I asked Dr. Schmid if there was a way to "widen" my smile without full braces and he was more than willing to "experiment" a little with bonding materials to visualize potential results.
