I absolutely love Ron King Salon! I always leave with the best haircut and color. Everyone there is so talented, welcoming, and professional, and they truly make you feel taken care of from start to finish. I'm always so happy with how my hair turns out and wouldn't trust anyone else! I highly recommend Ron King Salon to anyone looking for a great salon and an amazing experience. Destroyed my hair, and handled with questionable ethics. It took years and a full team to get it back to where it was.

I booked a haircut and dark brown color at what presents itself as a luxury salon. Seven hours and $400 later, I left with neither the experience nor the result that positioning implies. The most striking failure was communication. At no point did my stylist explain what he was doing or why. I sat at the shampoo bowl for 45 minutes without a word. Three Malibu treatments were applied that I hadn't discussed, and I was assured throughout that my color would come out chocolate brown. The next morning, in natural light, it was clearly red -- a mistake significant enough that I paid another stylist to correct it. I gave the salon the opportunity to make this right. I sent a detailed, good-faith email describing my experience and requesting a resolution. I never received a response. At "luxury" prices, clients have a right to expect professionalism, transparency, communication, and accountability. This salon delivered none of these. Mistakes happen, refusing to respond to an email and have a conversation is a choice. read more

Absolute slay. Dusty is the best! Seriously, every time I leave his chair I feel like a brand-new person. He really listens to what you want, gives honest suggestions, and somehow makes it turn out even better than I pictured. What I especially appreciate is how much he takes the time to educate you. I honestly didn't know much about hair care, products, or styling before going to him, but I've learned so much just from our appointments. He explains things in a way that's easy to understand and actually helpful, not overwhelming. Plus the vibe is always fun and comfortable, never rushed or awkward. If you want someone who truly cares about your hair and knows exactly what they're doing, Dusty is it. Highly recommend! read more

I went to Sacha for a simple hair cut, I had been growing my hair out for a while and just wanted a trim. It seemed as though she had decided the exact type of cut she wanted to do before I even sat down. She was already leading me to wash my hair before I could finish saying what type of cut I wanted and she didn't ask any follow up questions. I left with a TON of layers after specifying that I almost always straighten my hair. I had to go to someone else to get it fixed and ended up with my hair 3-4 inches shorter than when I went in. Lawrence is the best! I've gone twice now to get my curly hair cut by him and have had great experiences. He has given me great advice on how to take care of my hair, recommended different products, and has treated me with the utmost kindness and respect both visits. I recommend him to all of my family and friends! I love how sweet everyone who works here is, as well. They greet you as soon as you walk in and make sure you're comfortable the entire time you're there. The only con I'll mention is that the parking lot is a little small. The first time I got my hair cut here, I was able to park in their lot, but the second time it was full so I had to find street parking. This is not a huge issue, though, because there's plenty of parking in the area! read more

Love the experience I had here. I brought my boyfriend here because he has longer hair but always wants to go to a barber shop which they never cut/style his hair right. So he finally gave in and listened to me and the moment we walked in we felt welcomed. Every staff member was so much fun, positive and also very professional. The Hair stylist Cameron seemed very knowledgeable and did so good with my boyfriend's hair. The salon itself is chic and is such a vibe, which totally adds to the experience. Loved coming here and can't wait to visit again! read more

UPDATE: I must mention that, at least, the stylist refunded almost the full cost of my service, without my having to ask. I know that's a hard decision, and appreciate the recognition that this was not the experience or result for which I asked. I still recommend caution, as stated below. Believe the reviews here and on Google that discuss unprofessional failures to deliver and badgering and bullying when things don't work out. I wanted blonde highlights. Very simple. Nine hours later, my hair was grey, blue and yellow under blue toner. My hair has never taken more than four hours - max. I was patient and kind, and when I saw how poorly it came out, I expressed a couple of specific issues, but did not think it was worthwhile to say how bad it was or to demand a fix. The skill just wasn't there. I was badgered when I apparently wasn't sufficiently happy or responsive for my stylist's taste, told to keep my stylist updated if I needed a fix, and then received a long text message essentially blaming me for me for the length of time my hair took and stating that we weren't a good match. I am not responsible for my stylist's lack of ability. I didn't ask for anything that would take that length of time, and given how poorly my hair came out, I was extremely polite. I would not have gone back in any case, but trying to get out of fixing my hair after turning it grey and blue and taking $360, then sending me a long, abusive, uncalled for text shows zero accountability or professionalism. I had read some reviews of people who had similar experiences but thought they might be one-offs. My advice: don't ignore the negative reviews. read more

Okay booked with Andrew after a fate sent me to the Ron King Salon. Best decision- he is incredibly talented, so very patient and ultra focused for HOURS during the massive overhaul he took on with my hair! Cannot recommend him enough because he 1) Nailed a difficult color fix 2) Killed the cut 3) Gave me the exact look I showed him from the inspo pic 4) Booked my appointment the day after I contacted the salon. Really, Thank you Andrew for everything Salon itself is clean and has great lighting with aesthetic straight lines throughout. Every staff member seemed totally present, involved and interested with their work. Both owners were in and out of the salon throughout the day read more

I did not have a good experience at this Salon!! Here is the story..... I had been dying my roots with Madison reed products that was mailed to my house. I had not been to a beauty salon because I was afraid my hair was not going to turn how I wanted it to be. My hair is black and my grey pops out more in the front so I was really getting tired of doing it myself at home and at the same time I wanted a change. I sent my husband a tik tok from this girl that got her hair done by Rusty at Ron King Salon and a month later he surprised me with a "500" dollar gift card from there. Well when I tried to schedule a consultation with Rusty they told me that he is an independent contractor and he does not take gift cards I was really sad but had to schedule an appointment with the other stylist. ( I did asked my husband if they told him any rules about the gift card and he said no, he just told whoever the receptionist at the moment a brief history about my hair, what I wanted and an idea on how much he should put in the card. I ended up scheduling a consult with Lawrence. When I went for the consult I told Lawrence about my hair history and what I expected I even showed him a picture. He said that because I used box dye that we couldn't go to light because the dye might not take. (Which I wasn't trying to go blond what I wanted was an ash brunette) after looking at my hair he did reassured that we could get close and might take another touch up visit to get there) any ways he gave me a quote for 380 ( it was going to be close to 400 ) I didn't tell him how much I had in the card. Well I schedule the appointment with him since this salon had good reviews. The Day of the appointment My appointment was at 11:00 I got there at 10:40 Lawrence cut my hair first (this is the reason I gave then a one star) the haircut was not bad ) then he proceeded to do the rest. I didn't leave until close to 5:30!!! By the time he was done I was ready to leave, I was hungry my neck hurt because I had my neck on the sink for a while etc. When I saw my hair while he was blow-drying it I said to myself this looks like he just dyed my roots with the same black base I had come with, I really couldn't tell a big difference but just few highlights(which looks orange) When it was time to pay he said the total was five something but since it had the 500 dollar gift certificate that he was just going to leave it at that. I really was blown away when he said but like I said I was ready to leave so I just asked for a receipt and left. FaceTimed my husband and he couldn't tell what I had done much. We to work and they all told me that they charged me way to much for what they did because it was not what I wanted AT ALL. Which I knew but was trying to be positive. The more people I talk to they were shocked how much they charged me for not doing what I wanted to begin with. Called Ron Ling Salon and told the receptionist that I was not happy and he said that they would make it right and schedule an appointment to fix it at no cost. Well it was lie .... When I went to the salon, Lawrence took me back and just basically told me that it was going to take more visits to get the color right and that he needed removed the color if I wanted to go lighter which I showed him a picture wow. He said he could fix it but it would cost and he gave me an hourly cost (ridiculous) I told him that I'm not going to pay because my hair looked nothing like what I showed him I wanted and I wasn't happy. He proceeded to bring the two owners Ron king and Ethan King, which that is when I felt very disrespected. Especially by Ron he was very rude. At one point I was trying to showed him a piece of my hair and he yelled at me and told me to STOP. Basically they told me that it would cost me to get it fixed or done and we don't know how long it would take but I was going to pay by the hour. They told me they couldn't get it done today even thought I told him I drove 45 min and I was not going to pay anyways so I got up and told them I had leave. I had had enough and was very upset. I would not go back to this place or refer anyone here. Here is a picture of the receipt and before and after pic and what I wanted Ps: he charged me 3x for a gloss??? A balayage which from looking at videos he didn't do that he did highlights but I'm not a hair dresser all I know is that they charged me way to much to just dye the gray (roots ) and put some highlights just crazy!!! read more

Similar to my review on other platforms. Exceptional Service and Skill - Lawrence is a True Gem! I've been getting my hair cut by Lawrence for some time now, and each visit reaffirms my choice to keep coming back. Not only does Lawrence provide an amazing haircut every single time, but his friendly and genial demeanor also makes every appointment a pleasant experience. Lawrence's skill with scissors is unmatched. He listens attentively to what I want and consistently delivers results that exceed my expectations. His attention to detail and dedication to his craft are evident in the result. Beyond his technical talent, what really sets Lawrence apart is his team spirit and commitment to the salon. He often goes above and beyond for his teammates and tends to the salon's needs. It's clear that he's not just doing a job; he's passionate about making the salon a better place for both the staff and the clients. His positive attitude and willingness to help others don't go unnoticed. Lawrence is truly an asset to the team, and his efforts definitely deserve recognition and merit. Ron King Salon - Platinum blonde with extensions. - Hair Salons Near Me - Austin, Texas

My friends to this day talk about how bad my hair was I have been wanting to get my hair dyed but I have ptsd I just think this had to be shared even though it was a while ago. I went from having blonde to purple and I Jen I tired to come back to have it go back to blonde since the purple was washed out. I walked out and cried in my car but I thought I was overreacting until I went to a fords birthday and everyone was asking me what happens to my hair they thought I did it to myself I then went to a salon and Houston and the lady did my hair and said she felt so bad for me she did a color correction for very Cheap and I just went back to my Natural hair which is very dark brown. This is a nice salon but I went because I was referred by a girl who has amazing hair and she gets it down by Andrew pretty sure! I had a girl I don't want to say her name on here but Maybe I should've gotten another person so I don't want to say bad things about the salon entirely it's so clean and pretty. read more

I have been coming to the Ron King Salon since 2006. I have long dark hair with highlights. The staff are highly trained professionals; both Ron and Ethan travel worldwide to educate and they mentor the stylists at their salon. Yet they are humble and hospitable! They provide a comfortable environment, clean, upbeat, modern, & always play great music. The shampoo room has cozy chairs and spa like Music. I have been loyal All these years for a reason. I take my hair seriously. I know what I want in a salon experience, and I don't risk walking out of a salon with a bad haircut. Ever. In the two to three hours I spend with a professional getting me gorgeous, I want to feel like a queen, and I expect to walk out looking like one. It's a tall order, believe me. But finally, after two years of searching, (and two years of driving up to Fort Worth on the regular to get my hair did), I found a new stylist and salon conveniently located in downtown Austin that meets my highest expectations. Ron King Salon is my new happy place. Ok, so "conveniently located in downtown Austin" sounds too good to be true. But Ron King is just two blocks off I-35 and validates parking in the retail garage attached to the building. That's a big plus for me. Just be sure to allow plenty of time for traffic, and be prepared to park somewhere else if the parking garage is full. I kept Wesley waiting for 45 minutes past my scheduled time. Speaking of Wesley, my new stylist, he may look like a regular haute-T, but Wesley is a scissor wielding hair ninja, an artist. He gave me the kind of quality cut that probably grows out nicely. Not only that, he knows his products. I have dry, gray hair. I wash every day (yeah, try to stop me), and I hot curl or flat iron frequently, and, well, I'm old. I have needs. Wesley analyzed my frizz like a doctor and Rx'd the perfect combination of moisturizers. A week after using them daily, my hair feels and looks like a shampoo commercial. I was in the salon a couple of hours getting the full pampering from Wesley, wine, flattering attention, a relaxing shampoo, cut, dry, and style. I enjoyed every minute of it, not just the eye candy that is Wesley and EVERY OTHER STYLIST IN THAT PLACE, but the tasteful decor, subtle lighting, and music. I intend to return soon, even though my hair cut could probably go six weeks without a touch-up. Wesley has holiday plans for my do that may or may not include an upswept something or other for holiday parties. I don't know, yet. I'll let him surprise me. read more

This is my favorite salon in Austin. I met the owners years ago before I moved here and they've always been extraordinarily kind, generous, loving and compassionate. Horrible experience. First of all- I was there for four hours and all I got was a cut and partial highlights. The highlights didn't go all the way down the hair (basically I looked like a leopard) and there were spots where she missed color at the top. I was also charged over $400!! I got majorly ripped off and when I tried to get it corrected I had to wait a month for another appointment. I will never go to this rip off of a salon again! read more

I've never been loyal to a salon until Ron King Salon! Jose Vidal is simply the best! I leave feeling beautiful every single time. Jose listens to what I want and makes it happen. I was very interested in balyage, but not wanting to go all in. Jose was totally understanding and started with just some face framing and I'm going back for more color soon. The interior of the salon is super trendy and you feel like an honored guest during every visit. I have seen some reviews complaining about the price - but this is a high-end salon in downtown Austin, so why would you expect cheap prices? In my opinion, RKS is worth every penny! UPDATE: Went back today for more color and had another excellent experience with Jose!! He just got back from a training and used some new coloring techniques on me and they turned out beautiful. I love that he takes the time to keep up with industry trends! Jose always exceeds my expectations! read more

As someone who has an unhealthy amount of love for her own hair and has gone to all kinds of stylists and salons, I can 100% recommend Kati at Ron King salon. We've all met many-a-bozo with a cosmetology license, but it's no easy task to find a stylist who both has the talent and is willing to put in the effort to make your hair amazing. Kati went the extra mile to make sure my cut was perfect and with the color, she absolutely knocked it out of the park. I showed her one picture and said all I wanted was for it to look natural on me - she took my request and made magic happen :) I get compliments all the time, and when I tell people my color is not natural they actually don't believe me. I'm seriously at risk of becoming (*ahem*) a tiny bit immodest. Kati's also super great to talk to, which surely is a plus during a 2-hour hair appointment. The salon itself is really incredibly nice. Modern, clean, great lighting, comfy chairs... Going there is more an experience than just a haircut. I could definitely get used to an awesome-looking salon right next to the Four Seasons, chillin under a hair dryer with a glass of wine and walking out looking like I'm famous. In here, you really do get what you pay for. SO bottom line, if you want your hair to be fantastic rather than just some thing sitting on top of your head that you do what you can with, go to RK salon and see Kati. You can thank me later. read more

Ron King Salon - Kati's creation, made into a selfie :D - Hair Salons Near Me - Austin, Texas

I just had a life-changing experience and the only thing that changed was my hairstyle. With that, I say Kati at RK is a hair magician so go see her (especially if you're looking for a transformation)! I've rocked the incredibly long hairstyle for years. It was long enough to sit on for a while and I got so many compliments from strangers on my "mermaid hair." But I felt like I was long overdue for a change. I wanted hair that said "I'm me," something that put all of my significant qualities out in the open so less words would need to be said: "she's put together, stylish, friendly, open-minded, fun.." (I'm only good things *wink*). One day, after much contemplation and many hours spent researching salons, Kati came along, highly recommended to me. I told her that I've never had short hair because every time I ask for it, the stylist convinces me to keep it long. She laughed and tousled my hair for a moment, then said with undeniable certainty "it's because they're afraid to cut it. I know how to cut it." Then she started snipping. She snipped without any sort of picture reference and with all the vagueness of my description, "make me look like.. me." Despite only knowing me for an hour, she nailed it! The new cut depicts me to a "T." "Your hair looks absolutely adorable," my first complement by a lady who was also having her hair done. "Your hair looks amazing," my second compliment ten minutes later from the lyft driver that picked me up. And after that, I've gotten nothing short of shocked expressions followed by excitement and hugs from all my friends (and we aren't usually the hugging type because we see each other every day!). It's been four days and I'm still surprising people, still getting compliments from strangers, still getting smiles from passers-by (and I can see in their eyes that they're thinking "Wow! Look at that pretty girl"). And sure, maybe I'm just full of it.. but I am just SO VERY HAPPY with the way my hair looks that a confidence boost is inescapable. So much as Kati was highly recommended to me, I HIGHLY recommend Kati to you! She is so attentive, so aware, so incredibly great to talk with and I am UNDENIABLY CERTAIN that she can bring out the best in you too. :) read more

I have found MY hair stylist when I travel to Austin for Business. KATI you are AMAZING. Last month I went to Austin and I desperately needed a hair cut (haven't cut my long hair in about a year!). I've always had mediocre experiences when I went to some salons in Jersey. Most of my Asian friends say that an Asian person needs to cut their hair. I totally don't believe that anymore. Kati is super talented and super nice! I showed her a few pictures of the cut I wanted and she agreed that the pictures would look good on me. She tweaked it a little because we had cut my hair a little shorter ( I wanted to cut off as much as the split-ended hairs as we could but still maintain the long hair look ). Kati even took some awesome before and after shots for me! I LOVED the finished product and my hair still looks great. It's the first time in a long time that I have loved my hair cut. Thank you Kati :) I would have bought all the products she used to blow out my hair if I could (couldn't because of the flight home). Anytime I'm in Austin and need a haircut or blowout, I know where to go! I felt very pampered there and felt I got a lot of value from the money I spent. read more

After my first haircut with Ethan, I was shocked to look at the mirror and see the most defined curly locks EVER. Ethan also took the time to explain to me how to care for my newfound curls, from wash to styling, and he did so in a simple way that anyone (read: me) can do it. Oh my goodness! What a wonderful experience! I went in today for a color appointment with Jasmine. Now let me say, I was going in for an unconventional color, dark emerald green, and have an unconventional hair cut, basically a Mohawk with bangs. Having said all that, this salon intimidated me a bit. I was treated like a queen! Everyone was so nice and I must say the wine was delish! Jasmine was so thoughtful and great to talk too! I asked her about the salon and how she started working there and was very impressed to learn she worked very closely with the owner (Ron King, also an absolute delight and sweetheart) for a while before taking on clients her own. That says a lot about a place. The owner takes the time to make sure each employee is trained to his high expectations. Every detail of visit was perfection! Jasmine made my hair look and do things I never thought possible, seriously, my eyes watered up a bit as I left. I walked out of there with the confidence of a lion and a strut in my step! Ron King Salon - After getting home!! So much rich color! - Hair Salons Near Me - Austin, Texas

I've never been so impressed with a hair salon like how I was with Ron King. It started with the receptionist who is also a stylist according to these reviews, Eddie. He was REALLY nice! I really liked his attitude. Next, the overall appearance of the salon is really breathtaking from the nice TV/Color bar area to the wash room. They give you a robe to put on, but it's like a nice robe not just a drape. The atmosphere between everyone is great, you can tell they are all team members by the way they interact - Not "This is my station, this is my person, leave me alone" They have a movie playing in the middle of the color bar, which you can choose to watch meanwhile color is sitting in your hair which I think is so cool. They also serve complimentary water/wine/soda (I believe soda). The area with the hair dryers is like...a picture taken out of a magazine lol they are so futuristic/up to do date. The area where you go to get your hair rinsed is almost like a spa-like feel because it's in a room with dark blue walls, elegant music, and the lighting is superb. When I was leaving I noticed the actual area for the stylist was so mordern, looked awesome. (Clearly I am blown away with the appearance of this salon haha) My hair stylest GABE, was great!!! So friendly, easy to talk to and knew what he was doing. You can tell he has a lot of experience by the way he talks and gives his co-workers advice. When I walked in and he saw my hair he gave me recommendations with also respecting my vision too. Absolutely happy with my outcome and would highly recommend GABE! He knows how to work both with female & male hair. Oh also, my friends goes to him and her hair is flawless & his is cut with a perfect fade. You wont regret booking an apt with Gabe!!! read more

Thank you for the response. In my original review describing my experience I tried to be as precise as possible and the mentioning of the possibility of another appointment happened AFTER the color was put on my hair. 1) I told Andrew that I didn't want yellow (brass) in my hair. I told it to him several times. This was the goal of my appointment! This is not the matter of how you do a color correction. This is the matter of giving your customer a choice to decide what they want to do with their hair. You gave me no choice and decided for me and left me with hair which looked terrible. I know what I said and please try not to twist the truth. Your stylist left my hair even more yellow than it used to be. How on earth can you do something opposite to what your client wants and charge money for it? 2) My comment regarding the brands you were using was never addressed. I see now that you've updated your website, but it still shows INOA color available when it was not available at the time of my appointment and I was told that the salon switched to using Goldwell. This is very deceptive. INOA is a L'Oreal brand, not Goldwell. Here is the language from your website: 'The INOA by Goldwell Professional'. Again, talking about the choice and being truthful with your client. 3) Validated parking. I had to pay for my parking. Here is the verbatim from your website: 'Validated parking in the Four Seasons retail parking garage.' This is yet another deception. read more

Even as a Saturday walk-in, my experience at Ron King was flawless! On a whim, I decided to stop in for a haircut at Ron King. The prices listed on their board outside were fair enough that I was not deterred. I expected to be turned away but they were able to accommodate (yay!). The 20 minute wait wasn't bad--the two free mimosas definitely helped. In the end, I was paired with Wesley. We chatted about nothing and everything, and by the time he was done, I got exactly what I wanted. He also gives the beeeeest head massages while he washes your hair. I have been getting regular haircuts from Gabe since 2015. He is hands down the best stylist I've ever had. Over the course of two years he helped me grow out a bob haircut to midway down my back, with each transitional length so beautifully cut that I never had a single awkward "growing out my hair" look. Really impressed. Gabe always listens to my concerns before each cut and addresses them. It dawned on me today after I'd left Ron King that I had literally forgotten to check the back of my haircut while I was at the salon -- I'm so used to Gabe giving me the exact haircut I ask for and making it look so amazing. I also want to call out the salon manager, Danny. He is extremely professional and always makes me feel very welcome. read more

Cannot say enough great things about Gabe! I'm incredibly detailed and picky and like my dark brown hair to naturally look a perfect shade of blonde, which is no easy task. Everything about this place is beyond 5 stars. The look, the feel, the customer service right when you walk in the door, to the salon service! This was my second visit to this salon and even better than the first. If you need an impeccable, creative, kind and talented hair stylist, Wesley is the one! I don't write very many reviews, but this appointment demanded one! I'm ecstatic about my hair! Go. See. Wesley! NOW! M.C. read more

Before I came here, I had 2 pretty terrible haircuts in a row and figured I was doomed to have bad hair forever. I lucked out with getting Haley as my stylist and she helped reshape my hair and taught me how to style it with a curling iron. She also gave the greatest scalp massage while washing my hair - so nice! I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town. read more

I went for my first cut and color last night, and I already can't wait to go back! Brittany did an amazing job on my hair. She was easy to talk to, knew a great deal about the color and did a great job cutting, coloring and styling my hair. The salon is super clean and the environment is friendly. Trying a new hair salon in a new city can be nerve-wrecking and I'm really glad I decided to go here. Highly recommend! read more
