The stylist who helped me, Jamie, is a godsend. Bradz is truly lucky to have this professional. Not only is she thorough and got to know my hair and needs before diving in, she is truly an expert at her craft. She is ridiculously talented and knowledgeable- she recommended a much better shampoo and conditioner for my hair, and gave me tips that have really helped me get the best hairstyle (French bob) I have ever had. She was also helpful to the other stylists- as she was cutting my hair she was teaching one of the newer stylists the technique behind the cut. All in all, I am extremely grateful to have been in her chair and could not recommend Jamie highly enough. I have been growing my hair out after doing a chemotherapy called Taxol back in 2021. Zander has been helping me transition my hair back into medium length. She has been cutting my hair for over 10 years now and is highly trained in Tony&Guy cutting skills. I used to be a hairdresser and worked with Zander before cancer and I can say she is one of the best. I don't trust many with my hair because it is very thick and wavy. I have been going to Bradz for 10 years. Sometimes for timing and travel I have gone somewhere else but nobody has accomplished what Bradz have. I love having my haircut by Jim. I have done highlights with the new talent as sometimes Jim is busy but he us always reviewing and assisting with anything I may want or need. Both of my daughters also get haircuts at Bradz. I came here for a last minute haircut, and I was impressed by the hospitality and quality. My hair is stringy and long, so it can quickly become shapeless and heavy. The stylist really took into account my face shape and how I style my hair before actually cutting it. For the first time ever, I walked away with bangs that looked awesome and were practical for day to day without the need for heavy styling. Aside from the actual haircut, the location was easily accessible. Bradz is nestled in a classic Austin neighborhood, and their parking makes it easy to get in and out. The prices are very reasonable (it is Austin), and they have deals on Yelp too. I'll definitely be checking back in for my routine trims. read more

Wow I literally wouldn't even give this place one star but it makes you put at least some thing in order to give a review. This place is absolutely DISGUSTING. The Owner, Brad Wicall is a huge Piece of garbage. And so is his establishment they made my beautiful blonde hair purple and then gave me shampoo to wash it out and fix on my own. The owner was also asking about my mother and wanting to flirt with her while I was getting my hair done, he is a total creep and I feel bad for anybody that has to interact with him. My rating is not for the stylists at the salon but for the management and their scheduling practices. Over the past year, my appointment(s) times have been changed manually at the last minute by management which is almost always inconvenient to my schedule and I have to make another appointment for at least a week later. This has nothing to do with the online system but with a person in management manually changing my appointments and this is not just happening to me but other customers as well. Also when I show up, I think I am going to have my appointment with my regular stylist but then find out my appointment is with "new" talent or another person on their staff. I could understand this happening once and a while but every 3 weeks (yes my hair grows fast) So if you value your time and peace when getting your hair done, I would not go here since management does not care about your time or the person you chose to do your hair. However, saying all of this the stylists are very talented but the management is horrible. read more

I took my sons there yesterday for haircuts. They haven't had hair cuts in a LONG time. Mainly because my oldest son, 15, is super picky and rarely gets a haircut he is satisfied with, much less happy about. I made an appointment yesterday and got in the same day. One of the stylists name's is Kristen or Kirsten, and I don't remember the other one's name. (I wish I had done batter job of getting their names but I was just so distracted by how good my sons looked). But, let me tell you, they did an amazing job. AMAZING. My son Mateo loved his hair and he looks so handsome, but Caleb my 15 year old, Caleb is so happy with his hair. That never happens. She did exactly what he asked and was so careful and meticulous about the length and styling it just right. He has very thick hair, Mateo has curly hair and they both just did an outstanding job. I'm so happy with this place and will continue to take them there, but most importantly, they are so happy with their hair. read more

I've been a customer at Bradz for over 5 years. Over this time I've had colors, cuts, styling... every time I have been extremely happy with my entire experience there. The salon itself is so charming and welcoming...along with the staff. The stylists are knowledgeable and professional, as well as kind and pleasant to be around. The owner, Brad, is there every time and visible...always with a smile on his face. He has been kind enough to donate many products to my best friend, who is going through chemo and losing her hair. I went here because I had a spa week gift card to use and they were the only hair salon that accepted it and my regular stylist is on maternity leave! I had a highlight and cut. Colorist was right on time and very fast. Color was ok, nothing special like I wanted. Next I sat and waited for someone to shampoo and cut my hair. I waited for over an hour with color on my hair. I just cleaned my face and brushed my hair out and this is one of the worst haircuts I've ever gotten. Very uneven. Bangs totally whacked. For 190 bucks I expected perfection. Great facial with Kris - She was really nice and gave me great advice on skin care. The reason I'm giving 3 stars instead of 4 is that this place is more salon oriented, and my introduction was a bit uncomfortable. If you're going for a facial, you'll still have privacy, but there isn't really a waiting room. I stood awkwardly near the entrance by all the Aveda products until my appointment time. Also, I didn't feel very welcome when I first entered the salon (one of the girls gave me a judgmental up and down scan before asking, "can I help you?" ) Full disclosure: I can admit that I wasn't in my Sunday best, but I didn't look like train wreck. Also, the term "private lot" for parking is used loosely. It's definitely the parking situation you find in West Campus and Hyde Park where the lot is small and packed, surrounded by cars parked on the street, and you have to be extra cautious coming in and out since it's right by the Mo-Pac/Loop 1 exit. I think it's a pretty good place, but other places are better. read more

So it was time for my biannual haircut, and since the stylist I used to see at another salon recently departed, I decided to try Bradz. I'm glad I did! My stylist, Malia, was awesome. She was really friendly, and I was impressed with how quickly she cut and dried my hair - I never felt rushed, she just seemed really efficient. With the Yelp check-in deal, my haircut was only $35. Yay! My boyfriend got a haircut from Jim, and he was also really happy with the results. He's thrilled that he found someone that understands his longish, thick, curly hair. I do think their front desk needs a little help. The girl at the counter was nice, but I was mis-charged for someone else's appointment, and then told the wrong price for a few makeup items I was interested in purchasing. Also, my boyfriend got some sort of freebie bag since it was his first visit, but I didn't get anything, even though it was my first visit as well. read more

Yes, I am a dude that goes to an actual salon to get haircuts. You will be paying a lot more than you do at Great Clips or any of those other 'quick cut' type places, but you get what you pay for. The service has always been good and friendly, and the one guy stylist there always greets me even though he has never cut my hair. With the exception of a few people, the turnover on stylists here is a little more than I would like (Amber was my favorite! I miss her!). However, all the ones I have had over my 4+ years of cuts have been pretty darn good. I always get my scalp massaged, and my hair washed which feels good and is nicely relaxing. Also, if you go and they offer you the 'free man facial' (it's not sexual.. get your mind out of the gutter), do not turn it down because it is awesome. Not much else I can say here. Bradz is a good salon with a good staff. Check it out if you are tired of getting bad $10 haircuts from Great Clips. This review is a little late considering it's been a couple of months since I received my facial. I love the aroma as soon as you walk in you can tell it's an Aveda salon. I waited downstairs for my Esti to pick me up but thought it was odd there wasn't a new client intake form. I mean I know it's Aveda and it's not like I was getting a chemical peel but there was no skin questionnaire. After I was changed and on the table she briefly spoke to me about my concerns but before analyzing my skin had already decided on what products to use... Which was odd to me. I work at a spa that sells Aveda and have a multitude of products at home. I was disappointed that she used what I had at home.. I wanted a little something different I mentioned being concerned with hyperpigmentation but it wasn't addressed. On the bright side she was really nice and friendly so that was a plus. I've heard nothing but good things about Bradz but my facial was like getting one from the Aveda Institute. I was really disappointed. read more

I've been a long time customer/patron of Bradz (6+ years) and I've had my good experiences and I've had my bad experiences. I have stopped going there to get my hair highlighted or colored because of the down right rude way one of their top stylists talked to me regarding the state of my hair color. But now that I only go for cuts and facials I have been happy with the majority of the services I have received. I really do think that it is hard to find good receptionists and have noticed that many of the people who work at their Concept Salon don't seem to be very good at customer service but at their 35th Street location they have higher quality people most of the time. Their new skin care form helps eliminate time in the session with Q&A and more time relaxing and getting your treatment. I did like that new improvement. I also like that they now have an e-mail confirmation they send out prior to your appointment to confirm the time and date. I believe that because they are so small that they might be outgrowing their location because when I was there I noticed that people were sorta piling up in their small reception area and because of the limited amount of seating I ended up just floating around looking at products for about 10 minutes, granted, Saturdays are probably their busiest days. Overall, I like the location and their prices do seem fair for the services that you receive. I got a customized hour long facial for $75 which included several different exfoliation treatments and masks. The foot soak while you wait in the room for the Aesthetician to return to the room is also a nice addition. The room is cozy and the decor is Southeast Asian inspired. Also, Amanda is a really amazing stylist and I got a super hip haircut from her that received many compliments. If you want more upscale their new Happy Salon on 6th Street is pretty awesome. I received several really nice facials from Suzie. They are a respectable, well priced, and not super trendy salon and I will continue to be a fan. read more

The staff were super friendly and helpful, they take good care of you and listen to what you actually want. It's small with a lot of stylists but you have enough room to get your hair did :) We saw Jim for color and was finished by someone else. Both were friendly and polite though it seemed a little unorganised at times (kept saying someone would be cutting hair even though that wasn't ever the plan and different people kept saying they would be finishing even though none of them did). No one has ever done such a great job with my hair as Michelle! Anyway, I came up here a couple weeks ago and got my hair trimmed and it turned out great, so much so that I booked another appointment for a week later to get color! I received a wonderful 60 minute facial with Kristin. It was relaxing and rejuvenating. She was very responsive and attentive to my skin's needs. I love the Aveda products used by Kristin to help restore the moisture in my face. In all previous facial experiences, the esthetician leaves the room 1-2 times during the treatment. I purchased a Google offer for a cut and facial last week. I called to make an appointment and they were actually able to get both appointments booked within the same week that I purchased the deal which was great. The customer service over the phone was great and they sent my confirmation emails immediately as promised. The location itself is really cute but the parking could have been a little better. I had my hair cut with Jenny who was really sweet. It started with a scalp massage which was really relaxing and then a shampoo. The cut looks great and she really listened when I said that I was trying to grow it out and didn't want much cut off. While getting my hair dried one of the receptionists/assistants offered me a hand massage which felt great. They touched up my make up before leaving. They offer the products the stylist used at check out but I didn't feel over pressured to purchase them as some of the previous posts mentioned. Everyone was very professional and friendly. I usually go to Toni and Guy and love my stylist there but I feel like Bradz gives you slightly more personalized attention and feels so much less commercialized. I'll definitely be back. read more

Haircut Review: I highly recommend Jenny P as a stylist I am so impressed with at Bradz. I got my haircut by her 2-3 times at Bradz New Talent and so far 1x now that she is over at Bradz Salon on 35th. She is so nice, awesome at what she does, and easy to talk to. My hair is pretty boring, all I ever want to do is just clean up the ends, but I am always impressed when I walk out after letting her work her magic on my hair. I don't know why I keep giving this place another shot! Call me a masochist, but I just keep hoping I will get more than a "blah" experience. The one and only time I received a really great haircut, I came in to see her for my next appointment and she had disappeared. No one seemed to know where she went, and I was never even informed that she left. And I had a standing appointment! Hmm.. funny how that works. Come to think of it, I rarely ever see the same person there twice in general. If I looked around the room at employees, they were all new faces. With that kind of turnover, it's a wonder they're still in business quite frankly. On top of that I have had a couple of scheduling errors with the gentleman that answers phones, where I've called and booked an appointment confirmed for say 12pm, I show up and am told my appointment isn't until 1pm. How does that happen calling to schedule on the same day?! And with the weird water pressures going on during my last visit, it felt like the sink was about to explode with my head in it! I keep wanting Bradz to wow me. Let's face it, this is a city full of high maintenance Aveda salons. I really just wanted this little homey old house to be the underdog that I could root for, but now I think it's just time to admit defeat and move on. It's a shame. read more
