My experience here seems different from most reviewers. A few factors played into my not-so-amazing experience. For an upscale salon, I do expect better. I brought pictures of the hairstyle I wanted and showed them to the stylist. The hairstyle I walked out with was not the same. I didn't initially complain at the salon (which I probably should have) for a few reasons. One reason I'm upset is that the stylist took thinning shears to my already EXTREMELY fine hair. Because my head was down while she was cutting, I didn't notice until one side was already completely thinned out. I was hopeful that she knew what she was doing, but I was feeling apprehensive. She thinned out so much of my hair -- it now looks damaged and individual pieces of my hair are sticking out everywhere. She didn't ask me at all if using thinning shears was all right with me. If she had asked, I would've said no. I felt like the picture I brought in didn't reflect super thinned out hair and extreme layers; it was a full, pretty even short bob. Something that struck me as quite odd was that the stylist did not offer to show me the back of my hair when she cut it. At every salon I've ever been to, especially for a bob, the stylist hands me a mirror and twirls my chair around to take a look. This is another reason I didn't get as upset as I was at home -- I didn't know what the back looked like. The back is the worst part for me. It doesn't really look like a full, rounded bob to me. There are pieces of hair sticking out awkwardly in the back and once again, it looks pretty thin and flat. My stylist was also extremely silent -- not really friendly. I get it. I'm an introvert and making small talk can be difficult, but I feel like exchanging more than three sentences the entire appointment is needed. Being so quiet seems unprofessional and stand-offish to me. I can say the only thing I do like about the cut is that there is some volume retained at the top of my head, which is nice. But other than that, I can't wait until it grows out so I can get it evened some. I don't think I'll be returning.

I can't believe it's taken me so long to review Mint. This is the first hair salon I ever came to in Austin and my hair has been perfectly taken care of ever since. Danann is incredible and she has given me the best haircuts and color I've ever had. Not just in Austin, but anywhere!

VANESSA GRAY IS THE BEST!! So I'm very attached to my hair and I don't go in and get haircuts just whenever. I had a very specific look in mind and I was just dreading that moment for when I look in the mirror after its all done and gone and my heart drop. However, a friend of mine recommended Vanessa Gray to give me a haircut and go in for some color (which is something that I'm not knowledgeable about). I reached out to Vanessa through Instagram and said she had a spot open and after sending her a picture of what I wanted she said she could totally do it. My appointment came along and I was super nervous! But when meeting Vanessa, she was super chill and friendly! She made me feel at ease and I really believed that she could give me the hair of my dreams. Throughout the whole process, I asked questions and she was more than happy to answer any of them and explain things to me. She always double-checked things with me like length and explained how different styles might look with my new hair and never once was I lost in the dark. Alas, the final moment of looking into the mirror came annnd - I was so in LOVE with my new hair! She had gone above and beyond and not once did I regret the length or color or anything! Vanessa was so great and I'm so thankful for her dedication and work and effort in all that she does! She is seriously so talented and I will definitely be going back with her. If there is someone you need to trust with your precious hair - Vanessa is your gal!

Saw Vanessa again to get my hair lightened even more. My hair turned out just as beautiful as before. Do yourself a favor and book an appointment with her. She knows what she is doing and does it well! If I was rich I would hire her as my personal hair scientist and have her make me look beautiful every day. Haha.

As a totally neurotic stylist(I'm the worst client ever) I can always find something wrong with my hair and hate getting it done, but leave it to Danny Flawless to get it right EVERY TIME! He's fabulous and yes "flawless" in every way! Not to mention...tells great stories

This review is for SABINA Y. She is the only person to cut my hair for the past 7 years. She's seen me through long layered locks and inspired me, with countless images and visuals, to make a big change to my hair and look 2 years ago. She has now given me my signature look that I will probably keep rocking for years and years to come. Sabina's cuts give me confidence and edge and all that cool factor I wish I had (she has it in spades). She's in Texas at Mint now but lucky for me she stills comes back to LA every month! I seriously don't know what I would do if she didn't.

The waxing itself is great; I prefer hard wax and appreciate how efficient the appointments are. I've worked with several, more senior specialists over the years, and they've all been great, friendly aestheticians. I've also had great service booking by phone or online. That said, I'm pretty sure I just had my last appointment, and the reasons have nothing to do with the quality of the service (hence why I'm still giving 5 stars). The reasons are more about how the business is run: 1. High Turnover. It's not a good sign that these facilities run through aestheticians. If you find someone you like and trust, it's highly likely that person will leave within about 2 years. Find another person, same thing. Rinse and repeat. 2. Treatment of Women. For this to be a place that primarily serves women, I've continued to hear about European Wax Center's less-than-ideal arrangements for female staff. No maternity leave? No flexible work schedules for new moms? I'll take my business elsewhere for the time being, but I do hope the owners/managers of these locations will take this feedback to heart and make some improvements.

There were many of us who were loyal to the 47th St. location, but who kept coming down south, even though it's over a 40 minute drive, because we like the brand. It's this sort of customer loyalty that businesses should be grateful for! Instead? I got no phone call, no follow up email, no attempt to touch base with me to try to work this out, and come to a better understanding. Nothing. So thank you for using me for my money! Way to go. It's not about the money. It's not about not being allowed to be four minutes late. It's about being blown off, when local businesses tout building relationships" with clients. My going there for 12 years, was that not proving that I was loyal? Fuck You, Waxing Studio. Those of you who want to go there still, that's on you. Beware of being blown off, and treated like you are a cog in the machine, just like anybody else. It's that sort of corporate BS I was hoping to avoid in the first place. Period.

After waiting, it is now 2:45 and I have yet to be seen. I question the purpose of scheduling an appointment for a specific time if the wait exceeds over 30 minutes.

Over time, EWC has gotten more corporate and less…read morecustomer-focused... it reflects in the way waxing techniques have changed, how the quality and experience of the estheticians has gone down, the the flexibility of any employee (from managers to front desk staff to technicians) to provide customer solutions over sheer profit, and more. I've had to change waxers over and over again because the estheticians are constantly leaving. First, I have to work hard with the actual service providers to build a relationship over several months to get my services "right." In the 15 min appts it is hard to express the exact brow shape you're looking for, in example. Or, sometimes the technique being used is unnecessarily painful compared to another provider I'd worked with prior. Then, after 6 months it's finally right and then the technician leaves, and the cycle begins again. Plus, EWC is constantly selling to you. "Buy a wax pass" or "try this product." I can't tell you how many worthless unused EWC products I have sitting under my sink that aren't effective, or how many times I wish I had never purchased a wax pass... so I wouldn't be locked in to coming back here when it just keeps getting worse. I don't recommend EWC. Here, or at any other location (by the way, there is no manager here, and they canceled an appt once bc the opener missed her alarm clock, and both of my waxers left bc this whole location is a hot mess)! It's time for me to move onto better, more clientele-focused businesses... even if it leaves my money on the table with the wax pass I was stupid enough to purchase.
