After my loyalty there for almost 12 years, (I thought 15 but I was off by a couple of years), the owner dismissed me today as if none of that ever mattered. Literally hundreds of dollars spent there for over a decade, and I was blown off today. Because I had the audacity to try to call them, not once, but THREE different times, and they never answered the phone. Desperately trying to let them know that I was running 4 minutes late. Four. They refused to go beyond a five minute grace period. When this place changed to one location, off William Cannon, I was not the only one impacted. There were many of us who were loyal to the 47th St. location, but who kept coming down south, even though it's over a 40 minute drive, because we like the brand. It's this sort of customer loyalty that businesses should be grateful for! Instead? I got no phone call, no follow up email, no attempt to touch base with me to try to work this out, and come to a better understanding. Nothing. So thank you for using me for my money! Way to go. It's not about the money. It's not about not being allowed to be four minutes late. It's about being blown off, when local businesses tout building relationships" with clients. My going there for 12 years, was that not proving that I was loyal? Fuck You, Waxing Studio. Those of you who want to go there still, that's on you. Beware of being blown off, and treated like you are a cog in the machine, just like anybody else. It's that sort of corporate BS I was hoping to avoid in the first place. Period. read more

If I was basing my review just on my last service, it would've been a one star. The three stars, is because my previous services had been fine. I scheduled myself for the exact same service that I have for multiple years. I've always told the waxer what I wanted, and what I didn't want, they never had any problems, and never charged me extra. I told my waxer that day the same thing, but she didn't respond, and did exactly what she thought was best. She didn't go down as far as I asked, she went in too far, and I ended up with a burn and an infection. When I called the office, no one answered, and the response I got was a text message. When I tried to respond to that text, found out, it was a no reply, Bot created text message. I won't be going back. read more

I hate writing negative reviews for local businesses, but my latest visit to The Waxing Studio was not good and the interaction with the staff was especially poor. I had visited this location a few times in the past and had decent, if not exceptional, experiences. My favorite waxing studio had not survived the pandemic downturn, so I've been on the hunt for a new one and found this place based on a Yelp search and the positive reviews. I had made an appointment for 1:30 PM yesterday. At around 10 AM I received the first of 3 calls and 2 voicemails from the business saying that there had been an opening earlier in the day and asking if I would I like to come in before my 1:30 PM. I couldn't answer the calls as I was in meetings all morning, and truth be told it felt a little weird to be call-bombed. However, as soon as I was free, I called the business back to say thanks for letting me know about the earlier openings, but I couldn't make it before my scheduled time as I had one more meeting to get through my work day. The front desk staff person was gruff and audibly annoyed once I said I couldn't come in before my scheduled time, which I took as a little weird (again) and slightly rude since I was calling back as a courtesy and had scheduled my 1:30 in advance. Plus, I'd seen the schedule online that day and there were several openings after my 1:30 slot. I should have taken the wide-open availability as not a good sign, maybe. Like they don't exactly have customers beating down the door. But I chalked it up to maybe folks being short-tempered and nervous before the impending ice storm coming later that night after the craziness of the icepocalypse shutdown last year. Still, it definitely made me a LITTLE nervous to head over to a place to have hot wax applied to my body by cranky staff, lol. Anyhow, as I pulled into a parking space in front of the building at exactly 5 past my appointment start time (roads were crazy because of all the HEB panic buying), my phone rang AGAIN and the staff person demanded to know my ETA ("um, 1 minute?") and informed me that they could only perform one service now. Ok, fine. Whatever. As I walked in the door, I asked the staff if they were worried about the coming ice storm and the aesthetician (who was waiting for me with arms crossed in the lobby) said no, but she needed to go pick up her kids. Which, I sympathize, but the whole experience gave me the distinct impression of my business being an annoyance to them. She said, "I can only do one service," which I told her I had heard. So I picked the cheapest one (which she seemed surprised by, but what do you expect? I don't exactly want to spend a lot of time with you in a enclosed room with hot wax, lol.) and got out of there ASAP. Crossing this business off my list! On to another! read more

This is my go-to monthly eyebrow waxing place since I have moved to Austin. Eyebrows are what frames your face. I have seen people walking around with bad eyebrows all the time (think of sperm shaped eyebrows, wtf?). So, ladies and gentlemen, you are in luck, my go-to waxer is Jessica at this location and she can make your brows look good again. She does however work limited hours but she is worth it! I will note, I am an esthetician so I only get my eyebrows done here. They do offer other services like facials, eyebrow/eyelash tint (highly recommend for people), peels, etc. I have never gotten the other services since I can do them to myself. I am just not a great waxer. Be sure to sign up for their monthly emails as they will have waxing and other coupon offers. They have waxing packages they can allow people to save more on average per wax. You can also book your appointments online which is always nice. read more

Started getting Computer generated Spam calls from them. To remind me I haven't been there in over 3 months. Yeah, I can see that. Called to get removed, the girl wouldn't even take my information to enable that. I finally get her to take my information, then she said someone else, somewhere else would take care of it. Needless to say, I had little hope it would. Now, 2nd call, last week. 15 min after they closed shop. I call next day, repeat myself, she seems surprised I wasn't removed the 1 st time, was nicer than the other girl. Sorry to write this, but why would a local business think it's a good time to start Spam calling their customers? This is a bain on our society, yet they think it's new advertising ploy? No idea. Dont Spam call people, please. There's got to be a better idea than this. To top it all off, the call comes around dinner time, or when you just got off work, just like telemarketers. Yay! Just saw the owners response. So the emails I get with discounts aren't good enough? Also, telling me there's 1000's of customers doesn't actually make this better. read more

I love coming here, Alexis is AMAZING!! First off, I used to go to European Wax Center on Brodie, but man was I done with the little attitude I was getting from them. I mean, you're paying $20+ tip for brows, you want to at least feel welcome at a location, right? So I found The Waxing Studio and crossed my fingers as I booked an appointment. I randomly selected Alexis because I believe it was a Monday and that's when she's available. I'm so happy fate brought us together :) Alexis is just a wonderful person, you feel like you've known her forever, she's always got a smile and a friendly disposition. Beyond that, the girl can wax! My eyebrows are looking great, thanks to her. She even fixed an eyebrow horror story from another location as I was still searching for the perfect place (but that's another story, and another review). Also, it's very easy to book online. The front desk is also as friendly as can be, and the location is very cute and clean. Two tips: 1. Parking is slim, so give yourself a little extra time. Normally not a big deal, it's just that it's in a little strip mall area that's got great food and so it get's busy around lunch and dinner time. Also, if you like Pho, the place next door is awesome! 2. Bring cash for your tip if you can, otherwise they have to do another transaction on your card. This review is long overdue but I'm here to thank the waxing studio staff as a whole but especially Miss Jessica. As soon as I was becoming a regular my girl was due for her maternity leave. She was the one who gave me my very first full Brazilian wax. Although I was super nervous she was definitely more than able to make me comfortable and confident. Conversation was very genuine and she was very informative on the whole process, what products she was going to be using, what to expect in certain areas and just overall a sweet heart. I also loved the whole set up of the place from the waiting area to the rooms where y'all provide mirrors to observe the work being done. I recently moved to New Braunfels so unfortunately I won't be able to make regular trips out there however if I ever do find myself in the area I will be looking forward to coming here again. Why is it that when I was on the quest for the best waxed eye brows in south Austin did the Waxing Studio not come into my life sooner? Or maybe I should say Marilyn? My eyebrows come out looking fab everytime and have vowed to never get my eyebrows waxed ever again by another nail salon unless I am seriously majorly desperate and strapped for cash. Yes it cost $15 to get your brows waxed which is roughly $3-5 bucks more then most places, but if you think about it, your eyebrows are like hangers for your face. Marilyn is very professional and always teaches me something new when I go in. Love the fresh smell of the candle in the lobby coupled with light bali music for a zen environment. I had vowed never to return to The Waxing Studio ever again after I was burned while getting an eyebrow wax and went through excruciating pain because of an inexperienced and, as I found out later, brand new and soon fired aesthetician. Despite being hesitant, I wanted to give this place one more shot since their focus is solely 'waxing' and my eyebrow wax jobs at nail salons hadn't been pleasant and left me with pencil thin brows. I am so glad I came back. I walked in and was getting waxed within minutes. Melissa was wonderful. She was friendly, and took such good care of my skin. She informed me that she'd been waxing for years and I could tell. I had an entire face wax and it was painless and pleasant. I've been here a few times for eyebrow waxes, and they really do a fantastic job. It costs $18 for a brow wax, which is a little steep, but waxing definitely seems to be a service where you get what you pay for. I've seen two different aestheticians here, and they were both friendly and professional. They take their time with you to make sure you walk out looking great, and they never seem rushed. I've tried to get walk-in appointments here three times, and I've been successful twice. I've only scheduled an appointment once, but they took me on time. I came here from recommendation from friends so I thought it would be a great fit for me. I had a facial and requested for a steam and clean and was up sold over the phone before walking into the studio. They wanted to give me a fall treatment and etc. I said I want you to take a look at my skin first before we decide anything. She pushed for the fall treatment again as it took longer and of course cost more. I indicated to her that I was in a wedding that weekend and wanted to ensure it would not dry my face out. She assured me it would help make my skin glow and it would be better than the steam and clean. I was more concern on making my face feel clean and remove the extractions. The fall facial was nice but of course my face dried out and felt like sandpaper for the wedding. Note to self: If they are up selling you before they even look at you, say no! She greets you the moment you walk in and helps me find the perfect time that works best for my schedule. Katryna is amazing. She shaped my brows and I love them. Her other waxing services I've had done are very quick and not painful like you would think they'd be. I am very satisfied and will continue to go back. I have been to 3 of their locations at William Cannon, S. Lamar & Burnet. All three times I saw Ragan & Katyrna. The service continued to be superb and the buildings are clean and nice. I have been a client of the Waxing Studio for over 5 years now. Marilyn has always been the go-to girl for my brows. As a natural blonde who goes dark (yes, almost black) with my hair, the brows HAVE to match. Marilyn is always mindful of the shape and color that I prefer, which is why I would never think of going any other place for a wax. The rest of the staff is always extremely friendly. After I moved to my new digs, I kept noticing this place on the drive home. I used to go to a nail salon to have my eyebrows done (gasp), and that is how my brows came to look like cousins, instead of sisters. The waxing studio is so great! I go there on a regular basis during the Spring/summer for brazilian waxes. This is seriously the best place to go!! I see Marilyn there and am normally in and out in about 10 minutes. I have had waxes other places, but this is by far the best. It is quite pricey at $65 a wax plus tip, but worth the money.
