I was in from out of state and needed a quick shampoo and blowout. I decided to pick this salon since it had good reviews, but I learned my lesson that I should've asked for the pricing prior to booking. I did have a nice scalp message as well as, a quick wash/blow out from Tamra, taking about a 1/2hr nice & quick too! My assumption for price range (I thought) would be your typical city prices of $55-$75. But I should have asked first because the total upon checkout with a 20% tip was a whopping $146.10!! So price for blowout -no flat ironing, no curling etc. - ended up $116.88 without tip! Always ask pricing prior to booking!! Lesson learned! :/ read more

I was in need of a blowout, but it is not the easy to find someone who is capable and comfortable doing ethnic hair. I started by going through reviews on Yelp and looking for reviews that had been written by someone black and I found Bella Salon. I called and explained my hair type and without hesitation, the receptionist said, Troy is wonderful and will take good care of you! When I arrived and checked in, I was in awe at how large the space is. It was lively, energetic and decorated nicely for the Christmas season. I was told I could grab a drink from the fridge which offered still and sparkling water as well as alcoholic options and then I took a seat in their comfortable waiting room where I waited for about 10 minutes, before being approached by Troy. Do not go here for anything related to extensions or color without researching the specific stylist beforehand or being recommended. I've been in a month long saga of trying to repair what happened from going there and have to drive out of town tomorrow to fix it and have spent $1600 on top of the $600 charged. I'm not naming names. On top of destroying the extensions/burning my scalp with the hair dryer (likely related to the sewn in weft eventually crumbling) and clearly using peroxide on my scalp for a root to cover gray hair on nearly black brunette hair (???) which turned it orange even after the stylist admitted it was a mistake and tried to cover it. When I called hysterical as my hair was falling out the best they could offer was for someone to help me with half my sewn in extensions having FALLEN out of my head in SEVEN (7) days. Mind you they fell out from a light comb thru 4 days after being pushed up. I don't rigorously work out im extremely careful with my extensions as they are an investment. As if I could go to work in a professional office every day like *that* for an entire week. The woman I found to fix this said multiple extra beads had been placed in and generally it was a mess and can't figure out why anyone with color training would have put peroxide on my hair. This is the best salon in Austin. The front desk staff is friendly and efficient. The decor is modern, tasteful and clean without feeling like anyone's trying too hard to be cool. Keith is an amazing stylist both for color and cut. He is sweet and easy to talk to. He listens to what you want for your hair goals and will help you achieve them. They have a huge selection of high end hair products as well as some fun unique gifts and jewelry. The retail area is clean and well organized. I always find a little something that I want to buy that I don't see everywhere else! They offer facials and nail services as well which I've never delved into but I am confident I would love it. There is also a micro blading studio in the building (The Brow Nerd) who has great ratings. I would highly recommend stopping in this salon and giving their services a try. I moved here about 9 months ago from Vegas, where I had the same hairdresser for almost a decade. I let my long hair (full highlighted bleach) go for the entire time. It's only just now that I had to do something. I was nervous going in; it is difficult to trust a new hairdresser with what can be a dangerous hair situation. When it got so bad that I couldn't stand it anymore, I read reviews, settled on Erik at Bella Salon based on his profile, sucked it up, and took a leap of faith. Boy, was I wrong. Not about Erik, but my decision to wait this long. I cannot say enough nice things about Erik. He got my hair to the ashy blonde color I've been begging my hairdresser for for years. It is absolutely perfect. First try too! I was expecting a good job, but perhaps working on the best color by trial and error. Nope, he nailed it. I could not be happier. Had an extraordinarily terrible experience with Jenesis. On the second hair appointment here, she messed with the color so badly that I have three different colors of hair from her last dye job. On top of that she poured peroxide or some other substance on my head that burned my scalp so my hair has been falling off in chunks ever since. After pouring it on, she started aggressively pulling my hair out in front of me-- as if trying to have more hair fall out and disappointed more did not instantly fall out. While there, Jenesis and other staff stalked me and did satanic hand signs at me. Still losing hair by the chunks since this atrocious experience and even after reporting it to the salon, no one has been in touch to rectify the situation. Jodi did an amazing job with my nails. Listened to what I was looking for and provided a solution that allowed for me to have longer nails, while growing them out at the same time. Instead of always doing acrylics or gel x extension(which there is nothing wrong with). She was helpful, and super easy to converse with. Fit right in with Bella crew, following their style of taking care of what a person is looking for but in a way that will lead to healthier nails. Absolutely love working with Jodi! Was calming and relaxing. She did my first set for my birthday a few weeks back, and I loved her work so much, and working with her that I had to go back. I just had an okay experience here - unsure that I'd return for a visit. The receptionist desk wasn't super friendly upon arrival so I had a feeling it would be subpar as a result. It's a really cute salon though, with plenty of free parking. For background, my regular stylist (at a different salon) called to reschedule my appointment two days prior because she was sick and couldn't get me in for another week - it happens. I purposely scheduled this appointment because of an upcoming event so I was hustling trying to find someone to do my roots, and possibly give me a trim, before my event in 3 days. Bella Salon contacted me quickly so I went with them. The color my stylist "matched" with my existing roots is much, much darker than my natural color, making my existing balayage - that still looked really good(!) - look like a total mishap. The application seemed very rushed (maybe because I sat in the lobby for 10 minutes after my appointment time) and then I was ushered to a heat lamp for 30 min. Well, she said it would be 20 minutes, but I sat there for 30 (when the lamp turned off automatically) while watching her do someone else's hair. She asked if I wanted a trim and I said, "if you have time" and she said she did. I didn't anticipate getting my haircut, thus, didn't include it in my initial inquiry. As we're walking back to the chair from the lamp, she noticed her next scheduled appointment waiting, and tells me he's 1 hour early. Then, as she's blow drying my hair, asks me when I last had a cut and tells me to save my money, that I don't need a cut. I appreciate this (her concern for my financial situation) but it definitely felt like she was trying to rush the service so she could get to the next client and complete her day. I had stains of hair dye all over my forehead when I left, too. $130 bucks (with a 20% tip) for 1 hour and not super stoked on the result. read more
