I've been going here since I moved here in 2017, and I am so thankful for that! It is hands down the best massage I've ever had. I regularly see Mandy but have also seen Andrea when Mandy is unavailable--but really, every therapist is incredible at what they do. They are experts at what they day. Not only is the space super relaxing and cozy, but they communicate so well and do their best to make sure you are comfortable and the service is most enjoyable. I deal with a lot of chronic back pain and coming here provides so much relief. I love to do cupping as well, and it always makes me feel so much better. It's a perfect spot for multiple needs--pain relief, relaxation, recuperation, anything! I can't recommend this place enough and hope to never leave Austin because of it. read more

If you hold tension in your upper body and neck then this is the place for you, they are miracle workers. I love adding a charka balance at the end, you leave feeling like a new person. After many years of seeing typical massage therapists and having mostly positive experiences, with only a few negative, I can confidently say that receiving an ashiatsu massage has blown all other positive experiences out of the water. I had the fortune to have Josephine take care of me today (3/20/21) and her calm demeanor and attention to relaxation already had me more relaxed before she even touched me. The broad and long strokes that are achieved via ashiatsu are exactly what my back was craving. Josephine was also able to find some spots that I wasn't even aware were screaming for attention. One of the biggest takeaways from this experience was that ashiatsu allows your therapist to work different sides of your body, with the same pressure, at the same time vs. a typical massage where they would have to switch to the other side of the table and break that flow. Yes, I know that there are people who may be hesitant to think outside the box and have a massage that is majority feet driven, but I promise you it will be something you are glad you did and you will appreciate the skill involved in this therapeutic art. If I could give this place a thousand stars I really would. I have been coming here for about 6 months, almost every 2-4 weeks with Josephine, and every time I walk out thinking that was the best massage I have ever had in my life. She is incredibly intuitive and always seems to find my sore spots. She listens too and knows when I need relaxation versus therapeutic massage or even throwing some cupping in the mix. Hands down - pun fully intended - best massage I've ever had. I will refer all my relaxation-seeking homies to Andrea at Austin Ashiatsu, who gave me an amazing massage I won't soon forget. I already want another, and it's only been a week! The ashiatsu style may remind one of an old-school James Bond movie, in that the massage therapist swings up and uses poles attached to the ceiling and then uses their feet to apply pressure. The foot has more surface area than the palm of one's hand, so this translates into more pressure per square inch onto your bod. I haven't done the math - but it works and is pretty cool. Andrea is petite, but I was amazed at her power and skill. Also when she asked, "more or less pressure?" The pressure she applied straight out of the gate was perfect for me - I like it moderate - but she can apply her full body weight should the client want more. The vibe in the studio was super restful and chill, and the music was as gentle as one would expect in any spa - Andrea gets extra points for cue-ing up her iPod to the Iron & Wine channel. Very lovely music to go along with her incredible massage. The next day I felt so great!! I felt lengthened, stronger, and not at all sore. I feel very lucky in that I have no injuries nor chronic pain - and I recommend anyone with body issues or aches and pains to book an appointment. Hell, even if you feel amazing, treat yourself. You will be stunned at how good it feels. For out-of-towners coming in for SXSW, block out your calendar for a massage. For locals, get in there when you need to recover from SXSW. I have had 3 massages at Austin Ashiatsu no and I've loved each of my experiences. If you're a fan of deep tissue massages you can't get any better than this. As a big guy who needs deep tissue to relieve any of the stress in my back and shoulders, this is by far the best massage our there. The office is small and pleasant, everyone is very cordial and things are efficient. My therapist will sit down with me and take a minute to understand what's going on and where I need the most work, and then the massage is incredibly focused and tailored to what we discussed. I have been going to see Katie once a month for two months now. The first time I went in the massage was very relaxing and overall therapeutic. The next time I was having some specific issues with my back and legs and after the massage all my issues had been successfully worked out. It was awesome. I visited yesterday for an appointment with Josephine. She is fabulous. Her energy is calming and her approach is strong without brute force. I never fall asleep in a massage, especially not with someone's feet on my back, but I did yesterday. Fell asleep for about half of the massage. Her thoughtful feedback on what she felt while working was so valuable. I've seen a few therapists at Austin Ashiatsu and Josephine is easily my new fave. The pandemic protocol of the place was impressive. I called before entering. My temperature was taken before entering the room. I was the only one in the lobby besides Josephine when I entered.
