Odd experience. I was in town with my husband and two other friends and we decided we wanted a foot massage. We found this place on google. Their menu had combos of foot plus other massages. I really only wanted the foot massage but a combo was all I could get. I'll start by saying that I've had less than 10 massages in my life and only one other foot massage but lots of pedicures. I'm aware I'm sensitive and prefer a gentle touch. I went with the foot, head and back combo. My husband and I were in the same room together. His was a low bed that he described as two tables, pushed together with an awkward seam in the back area and his legs hung off, bending at the knee to soak his feet in the bucket of water. Mine was a high bed where I had to bend my legs to put my feet in the bucket on my bed. The traditional music was a bit too loud and not exactly relaxing. My first masseuse was a man and I started fully clothed, not realizing what to expect. He started with massaging around my temples and forehead then drug his fingers through my hair (full of hairspray) getting tangled and pulling my hair. I asked him to stop. He started pushing into my head with his fingers very hard in alternating spots, I asked him to please be gentle. So far, not relaxing at all. He must have felt my vibes and a woman took over. The foot massage was okay, pretty strong pressure. She moved to my back, asked me to take off my shirt, which was fine. She was pretty brutal after several requests to lighten up. I'm sure many people love a rough massage but I just don't. After so many requests, I figured she would get the hint but she was relentless. My husband informed me that she used her elbows, I'm still sore two days later and I can't turn my head fully to the left comfortably. Everyone in my group agreed it was all a weird experience. The price was low, so I guess that's a plus. If you want an intense, very rough massage for cheap, this is the place for you. The door advertised a happy hour price between 10 am and 11 am, he didn't give us the special and all together ignored our question when we asked about it, only responding with noises. I was 6 mins late, just with traffic and trying to find the place. I was then told by the front desk receptionist (which there was a huge language. Barrier) to come back in 30 mins. I waited outside in my car for 30 minutes. I come back and they take me back and then suddenly they ask if I made an appointment. And I was confused, of course. I tried to explain and they basically told me to call back and make an appointment. Like why do I need to do that if I am already here? This was a horrible first time for me and I will never go back. This was ok. Not bad not good. I was a little disappointed when I asked for a combo and just got a massage. You go to a foot spa to get your feet rubbed and that did not happen. So TIP when you are ordering be careful because when the ask full body it's for a massage not a combo. They do also have a combo on the menu. A-MA-ZING. Got the combination massage which is a great price for 60 minutes (only $50) and almost fell deep asleep because the foot massage was so relaxing. The body massage was definitely firmer and was quite intense but I'm sure you can ask for a bit softer if that's what you want. It was super thorough and I felt completely boneless when it was done. I've had two amazing massages here and was excited to have found such a great place. Unfortunately my great experiences have been overshadowed by the bad. I made an appointment for my husband and I at 5pm one Sunday. When we showed up, the front desk person couldn't find anything and kept asking if I had called and from what number. I showed her proof of the phone call from that morning and she realized she had made a mistake. So instead of apologizing and telling me to come back, she and another employee brought us back to give the massage. My husband's massage was fine, but mine was horrific. The woman doing mine was answering the phone and yakking loudly to her coworker in the room and also the one in the room next door! Through the walls! Talking extra loud so the employee in the next room could hear her. How the hell is that relaxing?? I really couldn't believe how badly half ass she was doing my massage. One hand massaging (if you can call it that) and one hand on the phone. She also left to run up front whenever someone came in. If it was just me, I would have gotten up and left, but I didn't want to mess up my husbands massage so just stayed quiet. When we were done she did a quick "sorry, we're busy" and ran out of the room. She knew she did a crap job. It's been about a month since that experience so I figured I'd give them another try and while there would pick up a gift certificate for a friend. The woman at the front desk spoke no English at all other than continually telling me "you come back, no appointment". I kept trying to tell her I just needed a gift certificate and she had no idea what I was saying and just kept trying to get me to leave. I finally got through by typing certificate into a translation app. She finally understood and chicken scratched the amount on an index card which was my "gift certificate". Finally another employee came up and wrote out the amount on a thank you card which was at least a bit more presentable than handing my friend an index card. I will make sure my friend knows it's a crap shoot on whether they have a good experience or not. It takes a lot for me to be dissatisfied with a service and even more for me to write a review....I actually think this is the first review I have left a company due to dissatisfaction. It was the worst massage experience of my life. I walked in and the gentleman at the front had his feet up on the desk. I had called ahead to ask about availability and be must've recognize my voice because he was insisting I take the 90 minute massage which is what I was calling ahead to ask about. When I decided to only do the 60 minute massage he was transparent about his disappointment. I reviewed the options and he was quick to try to force me into one of them. I selected and option and funny enough, it ended up not being the service that was provided to me. I definitely didn't think the gentleman with such lack of manner at the front would be the person also giving me a massage. He walked me into a room and closed the curtain without giving me any instructions or idea of what to expect. I was a little uncomfortable after how aggressive and rude he was at the front desk. Throughout the course of the massage it quickly became apparent that he had little to no professional training. Why he was massaging in some of the spots that he massaging was beyond me. Most of it just felt like a skin rub. While on my stomach he jabbed me with his elbow to a spot on the back that I'm pretty sure is tighter now than before the massage due to the shock of the jab. I could've gotten a random friend of mine to do a better job. Not once did he advise me what he was going to do next or ask how I was doing. I was so glad when it was over that I prepared my cash in the room so that I could quickly pay at the front and leave. Having been in the service industry for a big part of my life I typically pay at least 20%, but in this case I really couldn't justify doing so. In fact, I was struggling with paying the amount of the service. I did not feel a tip was appropriate after the way he made me feel guilty at the beginning for not going with the hour and a half massage and for the terrible massage itself that has me in more pain now than before I went in. GREAT MASSAGE. AWKWARD/NOT SO GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. I am very torn about my lpw rating. The massage itself was wonderful; the lady went above and beyond applying intense pressure. However, there needs to be a clear understanding of what you are paying for AHEAD OF TIME. I told the man at front that I only needed a neck massage. Once he put me in the room he told me to undress. Again I told him I only needed a neck massage. I even pointed at my neck and shook my hands at my legs and body. 10 minutes passed before the massage therapist came in and began apologizing. I told her I only needed my neck massaged. I told her again and she understood me. 25-30 minutes into the massage she had me move from the table (undressed) to sit on a chair so she could better work on my neck. The massage was great,the pressure was amazing. Until she stopped-_- She was working hard,which I totally understand, but she stopped massaging and informed me the new price was $60!!! I was dumbfounded. I told her I asked the guy up front for neck only. She repeated that it would be $60. I held my ground and said we could just finish the massage then. She left the room and got the price menu from up front. We went back and forth over what I initially asked for and what she was saying. I told her the guy up front didn't tell me about a price increase. She said she was the one saying the priced increased. We finally settled on $50 for a full body massage (from the initial $35-$40). It was very VERY AWKWARD from that moment on. I had another 30 minutes or so left. Once the session was over I knew thet were going to push the issue at check out. That is exactly what happened. By the time my wife got up and left the very awkward conversation at the cashier I was talking to the entire staff there about what was initially agred upon (neck massage) and what their changes were halfway through the massage. They asked me if I wife had money(luckily she already left) and I said no. We had several minutes of back and forth stares and my continual explanation that they cannot just change the prices halfway through and that the guy at the front should have told the massage therpaist what I had asked for. I finally just told them they need to be more forthcoming next time and the massage lady I had was asking for a $20-$30 tip. I told her she deserved that amount ,but when it was all said and done I did not bring that amount of money with me. Alas, amongst several flabbergasted staring Chinese people, I left the room...fully expecting some yells or a handful of candy to be thrown at me. Truly truly awkward experience. Today was the worst experience I've had here. My massage therapist's technique was extremely aggressive and fast. There is a difference between applying pressure and being rigorous. Not soothing at all. During my session, his phone rang loudly, he answered it and actually talked on the phone. TWICE. That is just not something you do on the job let alone doing it while providing a "relaxing" service to your customers. When I was done, he charged me $5 more than normal. If you expect The Four Seasons Spa you will be disappointed, but you're not paying Four Seasons prices either. Went with my fiance and got full body massage (1 hr) for $40 each. Since we went as a couple they added hot oil and hot stones for free. Services providers speak minimal English which was fine with us. They were super courteous and did keep asking during the service if everything (pressure) was OK. The place is nice, new, tastefully decorated, quiet with nice background music, smelled clean and fresh, they offer you water upon conclusion of massage, and they even have a discount card (visit 10 times get 11th free). If you like supporting local business and people that work hard, and you want to feel great, I recommend this business. We will definitely be back.
