I asked for a *gentle* 1-hour Swedish massage with hot stones, but due to the language barrier, I was assigned to a male therapist who gave me what I can only describe as a full-throttle deep tissue session. Right now, At 7:33 AM the next morning, I'm still recovering. I can't even sit back on the couch. Ouch. To be fair: the massage itself was very good... if that's the intensity you're looking for. But I didn't request deep tissue, and despite trying to clarify mid-massage, the language disconnect made it difficult to adjust. Most of the time was spent on my back and lower waist, and I'll be blunt...there's a level of close contact here that not everyone will be comfortable with. In the process of maneuvering around the table and working deeply, there were moments of full-body proximity that included unintentional contact with the masseuse's more... PERSONAL areas. It wasn't lewd or inappropriate, just a side effect of close-quarters bodywork. But if you're squeamish about that kind of thing, this may not be your spot. BUT NOW...let me sing the praises of the hot stones. Truly the highlight. They're included with the massage and offer soothing, deep heat without burning. Typically, a foot massage at a reflexology place means a full-body massage with your clothes on in a public room, along with a foot soak. A body massage, on the other hand, focuses less on the feet, doesn't include a soak, and allows for as minimal clothing as comfortable. So imagine my surprise when I requested my usual foot massage and ended up with a 60-minute session that focused only on my feet for $62!?? I've never been so disappointed. For half the cost, I could have gone to a nail salon for a pedicure that includes a scrub, massage, and polish with a mimosa in hand. I had a downright bad massage. I called in advance asking about a 30 minute body massage. They said to come on by. I showed up at 9:25pm. As soon as I entered the woman who greeted me said you get 40 minute massage. I said no I called about 30 minute. She said no you get 40 minute. I told her that wasn't even on the menu and she said don't worry about it. Just $10 more. Uhhhhhh... ok? Awkward but still fair price so I went along. The old man who takes me back reeks of cigarettes. The hallway smells of smoke. He points to undress and then comes back with a bucket for my feet. He soaks them for about 5-10 minutes while he does a shoulder massage. He dumps the water, I hear some talking, and then he comes back and says "body" or "foot"? I said body! He looks panicked and then says sorry sorry. He tells me to lay down. Mind you, I'm not even on one of the beds. It's like a foot stool with another small area to lay on so half my body is just hanging off. Super uncomfortable. The worst part was the place for the head to fit through. No cushion at all. It hurt! So badly! The whole massage he kept pushing on my back which shoved my chin/neck into this hard wood. I have a bruise on my neck and chin the day after. So painful! Then he proceeds to spend the entire time doing just my back. I'm thinking this is taking a long time. I told him body, right? He finishes and says OK! I'm confused. No legs. No feet. No arms. No chest. Literally nothing but my back. Does that sound like a body massage to you? Not only that but he stopped right at 40 minutes even though he wasted 5-10 minutes soaking my feet for what he thought was a foot massage. No extra time to make up for that? I stumbled across this spot and then was upset that I hadn't stumbled here sooner. Repeat after me . . . SELF CARE IS IMPORTANT! Treating yourself to a foot rub or a massage is not selfish! So I read the reviews (after stumbling) and I will say that some of them surprised me. People commented about the appearance - well, it's in a strip mall, it's not a resort, there are no frills, you won't get cucumbers to place over your eyes and the one thing you won't do is break the bank. With that said, my sister and I were in said strip mall and she noticed the place and said let's go in. We walked in and were greeted and shown the service menu. They had lots of options at affordable prices. I decided on the 60 min leg & body and she went with the 70 (she's a sucker for hot stones). We were taken to a back room that had two beds and instructed to underdress and get under the blanket. Once again, you aren't under a heated cashmere blanket, just something to hide your goodies. They have you lay back and soak your feet and during this time they get set up and then start with massaging my head, arms and neck. He massaged my neck in a way no one else had done and even got the top of my shoulders which I appreciated because that's where I carry my stress. However I was also worried because I didn't want that to be the back massage. He completed that and then went to work on my feet. He worked my feet, calves and my guy did my thighs. I had just had a leg massage the previous week and that massage didn't hold nothing to this one. He popped and cracked my toes, flexed my ankles and seriously, made put the last massage to shame. He then had me flip over and I think a smile crossed my face cause I was ready. He went to work or my back, he worked my gluteus (and I know lots of places men work do womens butts but mine needed it), the back of my thighs . . . This man WORKED!!! When everything was said and done and I realized how great I felt not once did I say "the decor could of been better". So if you are looking for a great affordable massage, this is your place. Best experience! From head to toe massage. Lots of time spent on feet and back. The pressure points on the face and head felt incredible. Trust the process and experience. We were very happy and please with our services. Leaving feeling VERY refreshed! My sister is 7 months pregnant and they made accommodations for her where she leave feeling like they actually didn't worry about being too easy on her and she got a good massage from it. She said this was the most satisfying massage since pregnant. There was a moderate language barrier, but they did everything they could to make sure we were comfortable and were okay with everything throughout the process. TLDR: One of the better Chinese massage spots in Austin. Recommend highly for affordable massage. I tried this place when needing a relaxation/ general massage and it was great. The employees were courteous and we didn't have to wait after making a reservation. Highly recommend calling the morning of the day you want a massage to reserve a time. Prices were as posted on the website and the place was generally clean. It does look a bit run down but given the price point I doubt they are making money to renovate. The massage we got was the combo foot massage which seems to combine strokes from reflexology with Thuy Na. Less a review on the location but Chinese massage is not typically as deep as deep tissue but more aggressive than Swedish- my opinion is it's good for relaxation, circulation, and relief of general muscle tension. Overall I recommend this location. One thing to note is I would tip generously if you are satisfied with the massage. I know no one likes being told to tip but when looking at prices build in an extra $10 if you intend to return. (Just realize these services are 1/2 what you'd pay at a typical spa, and while that is justified in part by the more minimal ambiance and lack of customization it's still a really good value) read more

Lower prices or pay your staff more if you're increasing prices. Because of this, I can now only afford a 30 minute.. 45 minutes when I'm feeling generous. Outside of this complaint, I really do enjoy this establishment. It is nice and quiet and I never fail to find my flow State when receiving a full body massage. As others mentioned, this is not a spot for a high-end spa experience, but it is an amazing spot for an immediate massage. I find that most massage therapists in Austin expect you to book your appointments far in advance, but how am I supposed to know when I'll be dying for a massage? I have never had to wait here as a walk-in and am always surprised with how high quality the massage is. They also wipe all oil off so so I have actually started going as a lunch break. Yes, you're only separate by others with a curtain, there's a bit of a language barrier, and it's not the most private/personal experience, and they get kinda close to your butt crack, but they will beat the knots out of your back and feet. If you want a more private experience, the "full body massage" option on the bottom of the menu is in a private area on a more typical massage table. This is a 60 minute massage and they don't do the hot water soak and foot massage aspect, so it's actually not as comprehensive or as good a deal as the regular head/arms/feet combo for 75 minutes, which is less private but the same price. Last time I went, I had Anna and she was amazing. I requested some time of the combo massage spent on my legs and she really worked out the tightness in my quads and hamstrings. read more

This is the place to go for a no frills massage! You definitely get what you pay for and more! My friend and I went and did the 90 minute combo massage. We were taken to the back where we shared the room which was fine with us. Along the way I noticed there is a more common or communal area for other massage services where I believe you can leave your clothes on. For us, since we also got oils and hot stone with our service we needed to strip down to just our undergarments. The tables aren't anything fancy but sufficient. The first portion was a little awkward since they wanted us to soak our feet but we were too short. After that though everything was great. I almost fell asleep even though the massage was painful in a good way. I definitely prefer deep tissue or sport type massages just because my body is always so stressed out and sore from life. I have no idea what these people are talking about if they give them a five star.. now granted they were nice, nobody was disrespectful. but the pictures don't look like what me and my husband saw when we went the other day we walked into a room that had multiple curtains with different people in the room, and we thought that we were going to have our own room since we were a couple, then they told us to take off our stuff and I was assuming they were talking about our shoes and socks for our foot bath and then he tells me to take off my bra so he could be able to give me a massage, but I felt uncomfortable because I didn't know that only curtains were going to be the only thing for privacy in the room full of people that I don't know. They really need to put actual pictures of how it really looks in their facility because it looks nothing like the pictures that they have on this website online and on Groupon I felt uncomfortable because right as soon as I turned to all my stomach, I see a whole Nother man's arm dangling off of his bed. I never had a massage in the facility in an open role with just hanging curtains with other people I felt uncomfortable and could not relax because people kept walking in front and behind me I only had curtains to have my privacy on the sides of me, but not in the front nor the back so if the customer that was laying on the left side of me, finish his massage he's literally walking right in front of where I'm getting my massage with no bra on.. and then my masseuse he was giving me a massage and it hurt the entire time. We each had a foot and back massage for an hour. It felt AMAZING!!! The Spa is is located in a safe area in a shopping plaza. The place is clean, dimmed lights, relaxing music, and quiet. I worked out a lot doing weight lifting and get sore after workouts. The massage therapist knew what he doing; I felt so good by the time I was done and not sore at all. Went after work to relax. I asked for a 90 min combo and the woman and the country simply pointed to the man behind me. No form to fill out? No questions about preferences or injuries? ...ok. I'm walked to the back in to these sort of "stalls" not private rooms. The massage table was in 2 parts and I was unsure what to do. No instructions. Left alone. I figured it out on my own and a bowl of water for my feet was placed on the floor. So at this point I'm laying face up with some random scratchy blanket on top of me and my feet on the floor in a bowl of water. Super awkward and pretty painful on my back. As he begins I can hear the man in the stall behind me on his cell phone while he's getting ready to leave. 15 mins later a walkie talkie is going off for 20 mins or longer. No one turned it off. Once my feet were off the ground and the noise stopped I was finally able to relax. Although I did have to repeat "too hard" about a half a dozen times. I tipped a $10 on my way out on a $100 service that I didn't even totally enjoy and I was stared at like I insulted his ancestors. What a disappointment. read more

Came here a few times because of the value related to costs and their decent masseuses, but wasn't really feeling it last week when I went in with my roommate. It was WAY too cold inside, both of our masseuses were giving very weak/light pressure right off the bat, and continued to do so after asking for more pressure.. Anyway, after about 5 minutes of them lightly stroking our shoulders (I say stroking because they were NOT massaging), and both of us asking for more pressure, we decide that maybe this wasn't the right move for the night. I ask we end and leave, and we leave to the front desk. I let me man know I am sorry, but I would like to leave. I will pay for the 5 minutes of service we each received. He demanded I pay him $20 for the 5 minutes of crappy service that wasn't even considered a massage in my books. They didn't even ask why or if something was wrong, just angrily upcharged me. My wife surprised me on a weekday morning with an appointment to this spa because she's the best human in the entire world. She called about an hour and a half before and set the appointment with ease. When we got to the spa they were welcoming and took me back very quickly and had plenty of room in the halls and the massage room for my manual wheelchair. My wife helped me on to the table and the tech made sure that my body was covered with a towel the whole time. The tech was knowledgeable and worked me up slowly, the focused on all of my worst areas without me even telling her where they were. After the massage my wife paid (it's a little extra to use a card, bring cash tip) and I was given water. The service was amazing, the massage was amazing, and the price was amazing! Most times it's ok but when loud customers are at the other side of the curtain, it sounds awkward The other issues I had was that they played some loud rock style music which didn't allow me to relax while getting a reflexology. One of the, if not the, best massage so far. People are very kind and respectful. Cons: I'm one of those people that goes to the restroom before a massage because... well, it's an hour to an hour and a half long... I don't want to have to take a potty break in the middle of the thing. That being said, their bathroom is icky. Things to know: They are going to work your kinks OUT! They're going to rub you, stretch you, climb on you and leave you feeling like a million dollars. It's $30 for an hour, $40 for an hour and a half. Folks, ya can't beat that. (the menu is pictured in the pics - thanks to whomever did that!) So, they get 4 stars from me - losing a star (it would only be 1/2 a star, if I could) for their icky bathroom. read more

My expectations for a typical Chinese "foot" massage spa are realistic, I've been to several and appreciate the bare bones, practical and straight-forward Chinese technique practiced here. We just moved to Austin from Orange County, CA where Chinese massage salons are prevalent and we frequented a couple of them quite often. My first thoughts upon entering was that it did not "feel" like a hygienic spa (as described on their website) because in looking around the beds were crooked, the towels were thread bare, didn't match and the privacy curtains looked more like clothes lines that were falling down in spots. Not a great first impression but that's fine, just taking notes... My therapist was nice, seemed well experienced and did a good job. She did ask me several times to take my top off when I rolled over, to which I repeatedly said no, that I was ok to leave on my tank top; I'm not sure if this was due to language barrier or what. I meant to take note of what they used for the massage, lotion, Vaseline, etc.. because a couple of times it felt like water splashing on me.??? There was the sometimes common loud employee talking among the front desk and the managers, which is always annoying, but none between the therapists in this visit. The phone at the front desk also rung nearby somehow, so a few unsophisticated distractions is what I'm getting at. But again, not particularly uncommon. However, I am used to a more considerate atmosphere in the Chinese salons we were going to. I don't know if Austin has that many to choose from though. The price was also higher than on their website, which honestly wasn't worth the $35 for the 1hr combo.
