Love this local spot. Very welcoming for the LGBTQIA+ community, you can feel the presence. We love the turkey sandwich (dont skip on the fresh/homemade potato chips) and the iced tea. Particularly a fan if the almond tea cakes too! We usually find bistro style seating quickly and there is indoor or outdoor options. They also have a sister restaurant a few doors down, which we havent tried but that place's ambiance is so cute! read more

Positives first. Ambiance is super cute, it is much bigger than I expected and looks like it would be a good place to work/study. We got the black and white iced latte and the cherry bomb croissant muffin which were both delicious. The other pastries looked great too, would definitely come back for them and the coffee. Now the breakfast burrito on the other hand was way overpriced. It was tasty but a small burrito for $18 and I literally laughed at the "side of fruit". Honestly, saying that something comes with a side of fruit and giving a single raspberry, blackberry, blueberry and banana slice feels insulting. Looking back at past photos it looks like they used to give a more normal amount, and I understand that times are tough right now, but they already increased the prices. If they aren't going to provide a normal side of fruit, they should at least remove it from the menu so it's a surprise treat instead of a let down. read more

This Coffee shop Cafe had a really neat Vibe and I had a quick coffee. We were "thrifting" in the area and I had stumbled onto this hip Coffee house. I had saw a lot of tempting desserts but stayed with my White Mocha coffee. They had a lot of different records for purchase if you had a record player or a fan of Classic music. Coffee was good and it also seemed like a cool place to grab a quick bite or chill with some friends. It was also a perfect environment to work and study since it did not seem too loud. I enjoy Romancing the Bean because it's one of the few sit-down places in the area. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, although I def prefer outside. Their seating inside is weird. They have some normally placed tables and chairs up front and then one long high back bench with small tables placed along it. Sitting there can get really cramped, which I am not a fan of. Really good coffee and tea at this place, though! Right now, they even have a chagacinno, meaning mushroom coffee! My friend ordered it and it was really good. Kind of a smoky, sweet flavor and very smooth. Pretty good tea selection, too, although they were out of a few last time I went. The food is definitely hit or miss here. Definitely try the cakes and pastries as I happen to know a lot of them come from Cake Monkey Bakery, which I love. I also realllly like the quiches they have. Last time I had the mushroom kale one and it was heavenly. Very thick buttery crust and oh so flavorful. I savored every bite. However, I have had some of their wraps and honestly they were forgettable. Not great, not bad, just meh. Counter service like Porto's , so you order and they bring it out to you. All the staff were pleasant last time I went but I def get what some people have said in their reviews that sometimes their people seem a little off. Nice single stall bathrooms that don't require a code are very much appreciated as well. In all honesty I will not be coming back. While the staff is very nice the coffee and food is incredibly overpriced. I would rather go to another coffee place in the area because it would be cheaper and still be high quality. The food took incredibly long for me to receive because it does tend to be crowded there. Our long weekend in LA and one of the things we love is finding cool neighborhoods. We remember visiting the Magnolia Park area in Burbank a few years ago and decided to go back. At this point, we were getting hangry and needed coffee first. We found Romancing the Bean, we like going to the small independent shops, so we thought we would give this one a try. One of our ways of deciding if we like something is by just having a latte. If the latte is good, it sets the tone. Fortunately for Romancing the Bean, their latte checked off our box. I ordered my latte with oat milk, while my husband had it with regular milk. We both agreed our lattes were smooth and very good. We decided to split a breakfast burrito as well. I thought it was fine, but my husband thought it could use bacon because he's a carnivore. We were all over the fruit, berries become a competition if it's fresh. The decor is really nice and the restrooms are for paying customers. There's limited indoor seating and outdoor seating available. The pastries looked very good, but I didn't venture there. Serenaded by Pond pouring out of the sound system, my eyes beheld some tasteless sourdough sourly enveloping a meager slice of prosciutto, a skimpy portion of provolone, and a sad slice of tomato. It looked and tasted like what it was: a ripoff thrown together without love or skill. And it was absolutely tasteless. Abbe's Cold Turkey sandwich was thicker but just as lacking in flavor. Our bill for 2 sandwiches and 2 coffees came to $41 and change. I felt cheated and still hungry. Romancing the Bean may be a chill place to hang and listen to some cool alt rock. I have a new favorite place to visit when I'm around L.A.! My Air B n B owner recommended this place, and I'm SO glad he did! I loved the decor, and the food/drinks. I had always turned my nose up at cold brew, but out of necessity (it was too danged hot to drink anything else), I discovered that I quite like their version. Also, those blueberry scones are to die for! (Baked fresh every morning, and you can tell!) It gets super busy, with a 90-minute limit (understandable. Nothing like walking into a coffee shop and walking out again because of the laptop lizards who sit for hours and only order 1 latte). I was able to do a little writing, which was awesome. It's also a fantastic place to people watch. They have outdoor seating too, which would have been great if it hadn't been so hot. Also, if you like sheep, you'll enjoy the ladies room. I always sort of forget about this spot, which is a gosh dang travesty! I love their huge menu, with something for almost anyone (holler at needing a few more veggie friendly options.) They make a great chaggachino, have delicious pastry options, and I've heard a mean hot chocolate (according to my friend who visited with me last) I knocked a star off for lack of vegan options in regards to food and because the register service is hit or miss. I've been going on and off at Romancing the Bean Cafe a few times over the years at its various locations on Magnolia Blvd. Because it has good locations and easy to spot it's a great place to meet friends at. I like their outdoor area, it's big and plentiful. Their coffee is decent, not great, I ordered various types over the years - mocha, cappuccino-s, had better in other places. But I'm never impressed with their pastry selection when I get there, they are on the mediocre side. I expect better. Prices -in the middle. My recommendations...avocado toast with burrata, quiche, nitro, ice coffee, and the grilled cheese. The best part is the pastries. I have a baking business and whoever they get to bake their pastries is great. The HAND PIES and the CARROT CAKE are my favorites. The only issues I have are some of the customers. They should set a 90 minute time limit on table. People tend to camp out and work. The pricing is about right considering food costs are around 25% higher now. read more

Sadly, my last visit to Romancing the Bean after supporting them for the past 15 years. I was one of the original customers at their first Burbank location. Been to the Magnolia location at least half a dozen times in the last year, each time it gets less and less impressive. Prices are outrageous, the staff is completely disengaged/disaffected compared to the way the owner and her kids used to take care of the business. And sadly, the food is inconsistent and sometimes flat out not good. Paid $75 for myself and my two kids for two toasted bread sandwiches that masqueraded as actual sandwiches with other items inside, a salad that looked way better on the menu than what was actually presented, and a mango smoothie with avocado that had so little mango in it you couldn't taste it at all. Just not worth the hassle for the cost. We're done. read more
