    The empire
    Rebecca S.

The egg sandwich was so delicious, and the egg soufflé truly makes it--light, fluffy, and full of flavor. I ordered the Empire breakfast sandwich and added the breakfast sauce and hot sauce, which made it CHEF's KISS. It was made hot and fresh right in front of me while I chatted her ear off. Anyone else would have told me to go away while she was cooking, but not Salina (the owner). She's also incredibly kind and charming, which makes the whole experience even better. Definitely worth stopping by to support--such a great addition to Lewes!

Love getting my breakfast here! Bacon, egg, & cheese with breakfast sauce every time! It couldn't be more convenient and it's totally fresh & hot every time. Service is top notch. My kids ask me basically every morning if the "breakfast truck" is here! Can't recommend Egg On A Roll enough.

Egg, cheddar and bacon on a roll!

But the menu is vast with delicious options that you really cannot go wrong with any of it. Three egg omelettes, big salads, and big pieces of French toast. No matter what you get, you will be sure to walk out satisfied. Like with anything else in the Rehobeth Beach area, it opens early and closes early, and parking can be a nightmare if you wait too long to eat here. Thankfully it was not too bad when I went as it is currently offseason. That does not detract the locals from coming for a post church meal. This place definitely checks all the boxes. The cute coastal interior is something I liked as well. Sometimes a little break from the norm does good.

We arrived on a Sunday morning around 11am and it was packed! I mean we could barely find parking. We waited about 15-20 minutes for a table of 4. There is no waiting area - you are just cramped up front in a small area. It was very packed but they did have a large party there. I had the pancakes with strawberries and bacon and apple juice. A friend got the breakfast tacos and didn't like it at all. Two other friends got grits with their meals and said they had to be doctored up a bit. One thing I didn't care for was that the food was all bought out at different times. Our waiter was nice but not overly friendly. I would suggest checking it out for yourself.

A great add-on as I go to the Post Office, Bank, or other errands. It's going to be my little secret to try everything on the menu. I was guided on this trip by Thierry whose recipes and recommendations were perfection - Vermont Latte, Ratatouille, and a pastry to go. I chose the safe quiche Lorraine to begin this journey. It was delicious, however, I think there is greater depth in Thierry's future recommendations. The orange juice was even perfect. For the wives of families/husbands who prefer fast food and chain restaurants, you can still have it all. Linen table cloths and pink linen napkins. See you there!

Since we were going to be in the Millsboro, DE area, I was not sure I would find anything unique or interesting. I came across Kaisy's Delights on Yelp. The reviews were pretty good, and the most recent one I saw was about three months old. After looking at the menu and reading the reviews, I decided to give it a try. When we arrived, the place immediately caught our attention. The building used to be a small bank, and the interior still has the original vault, which makes it really interesting. A young couple with a small child walked in just ahead of us, and the owner invited both of us into the vault. He showed us pictures and shared the story of his family and how the restaurant came to be, along with the inspiration behind the food. My wife ordered the Sweetie Kaiserschmarrn, and I ordered the Skier's Kaiserschmarrn. Kaiserschmarrn is a fluffy, caramelized Austrian shredded pancake, often called Emperor's Mess. It is made from a thick batter with separated eggs, torn into pieces while cooking, and served with powdered sugar and fruit. It has a light, almost soufflé-like texture. My order also came with two sausages. The meal was excellent. The owner was very interactive and enjoyable to talk with. My wife and I both grew up around restaurants, so we tend to notice the details. The place was very clean. The table setting and dining ware were simple and nice. The presentation of the Kaiserschmarrn looked like a mess, which is exactly how it is supposed to look, and it tasted wonderful. We really enjoyed both the food and the conversation. Hearing the owner's story and how he got to where he is today made the experience even better. I would highly recommend giving Kaisy's Delights a try. There are a few more items on the menu I would like to try, and we will be going back.

A Solid Bagel Stop in Lewes…read more I've eaten at Surf Bagel before, so on the way home from a recent business trip I decided to stop again and grab breakfast to go. I ordered a sesame bagel with egg, cheese, and scrapple, along with a hash brown. The bagel was nicely toasted and very fresh, which is really what you hope for when you're stopping at a place that specializes in bagels. The sandwich itself was simple but very satisfying. Nothing over the top or crazy fancy, just a well made breakfast sandwich that hit the spot. The service was friendly and quick, and the place itself has a unique feel to it. Inside they sell quite a bit of Surf Bagel merchandise, which gives it a fun local vibe beyond just being a bagel counter. I included a few photos because the shop has a cool look to it. I stopped in around 9 in the morning and it was still pretty busy, even during the off season. That tells me this place probably gets packed during the summer months. Overall, everything was fresh, the staff was nice, and it's definitely a place I'd stop at again when I'm in the area.
