Tried Rōk in LA for the first time. I confess that I'm not a huge Matcha fan as usually the taste is too bitter for me. But I got the Lavender Matcha Duo and it was just right. Not bitter and had a nice mix of the lavender and matcha. I almost wish they had a bigger size. My drink was $8.50 plus tax and tip. And they even have a little photo op in the store. I would come back and try this place again .
I tried the Matcha Duo, which is one of the cafe's signature drinks. Visually, it has an appealing presentation, with a layer of creamy foam that gives the drink a more indulgent, dessert-like character. Taste-wise, though, I found it somewhat underwhelming. The matcha itself was smooth, but its flavor lacked the intensity I was hoping for. There was no earthy matcha taste. The highlight was the creamy, rich matcha foam rather than the matcha tea itself. Although the drink was not bad, it is not something I would go out of my way for, or even wait in a long line for. If you dine at the restaurant next door, you can order Rok from there and avoid waiting in the line.
Cute cafe, questionable wait times, but that Mugwort Latte was sooo dreamy. Was it worth waiting 30 minutes outside + another 15 minutes after ordering? Not really... Once inside, there was a pretty big crowd standing around, waiting for their drinks to be called. The tables were sticky and dirty. Service felt a little inefficient. A heads-up: the cups are also a bit smaller than the standard cafe cup. Strawberry Shortcake Matcha Duo: This one sounded so promising, especially with the little schmear of cookie butter on the cup. Unfortunately, the flavors didn't quite click for us. Mugwort Latte (with oat milk): Loved the strong herbal, earthy taste! I'd come back for the Mugwort Duo if it ever returns to the menu. Tldr; The wait, cleanliness, and drink logistics could use some work, but that Mugwort Latte almost had me forgiving everything.
Fantastic spot if you're a matcha lover! They had so many unique options and I went with the coconut matcha, which didn't have a milk base but instead a coconut water base (admittedly I was hesitant) but wow it was so refreshing and had great flavor. They were so quick with our orders too despite being quite busy. They had a variety of pastries and an extensive and unique menu of coffee & tea to choose from. Clean inside, with plenty of seating inside & out!
***NO WIFI*** I didn't realize until after I had already ordered a drink. I stopped by because it was on my way home and was hoping to get a few hours of work done, so that was a bit of a bummer. I didn't have a chance to check as I was driving when I decided to stop by. I came on a Tuesday around 3 PM and it was pretty chill, especially compared to how busy it usually looks on the weekends. I got the Matcha Duo and it was yummy, but definitely on the sweeter side, so keep that in mind! I'd say it's sweeter than DAMO's einspänner. Overall, I'd stop by again to grab a drink if I happened to be in the area, but probably wouldn't go out of my way for it.
Matcha snobs, this is your sign. ROK's matcha holds its own against Community Goods -- genuinely didn't expect to say that, but the quality is there, if not a little better. No bitterness, no chalky aftertaste that cheaper ceremonial-grade pretenders leave behind. Just clean, grassy depth with a texture that's silky rather than gritty. This is someone who actually sources well and knows how to whisk Didn't stop there. The seasonal peach jasmine tea was the surprise standout ..floral jasmine up front, real peach sweetness (not syrup-bomb fake fruit) on the back end. Balanced in a way that seasonal drinks rarely pull off; most places either overdo the fruit or underdo the tea. This one's dialed in. Iced Spanish latte rounded things out and didn't miss either; espresso with enough backbone to cut through the condensed milk instead of getting buried by it. A lot of places let the sweetness take over; ROK kept the coffee actually tasting like coffee. 4 drinks, zero misses. That's not luck; that's a program that's actually dialed in behind the counter. This isn't a place riding on aesthetics and a good logo the drinks back it up. The matcha is legit, good quality stuff Come open up in OC you batches
We had to park in the garage across the street to reach Rok. We kinda got lost, but the security inside was able to help us navigate over. It's tucked away in the corner right by a KBBQ. There's not a lot of space, and it's purely outdoors. The barista wasn't really friendly and almost came across as rude. There wasn't anything about Rok that sets it apart from other matcha places. If you're a local, this might be a great place for you (if you can walk here), but it wasn't really worth it to go out of my way for.
We stumbled across this place when we ate nearby. It was just next door so it was perfect for dessert afterward. It was very busy and crowded, but it didn't take too long for our drinks to be ready. The place was packed and many were standing waiting for a seat to come available. It can get pretty noisy, so I wouldn't think it's a great spot to try and get any work done but perfect for meeting up with a friend to sit and chat. I liked the coffee and matcha selections - I actually ended getting one coffee and one matcha because I couldn't decide! Both were soooo so good, I was sad when I was finishing them up. The size of the drinks are kind of small and they were moderately priced. I would say it was worth it because of the quality of the matcha. I don't live in town, but I am definitely returning next time I'm in the area!
This place is incredibly trendy, even compared to other trendy coffee shops in K-Town and around LA. I arrived to find a long line outside, but they move things along quickly. It took about 20 minutes to order, but the drinks were ready in under 5 minutes. They have a great system in place. The cashier was friendly and helpful. I knew what I wanted, but my wife doesn't like overly sweet coffee. I was going to order the Black Sesame Latte, but the cashier consulted with a barista, who said it would be too sweet. They recommended the Coconut Matcha unsweetened instead, which I got for her, even though she usually doesn't like coconut. I didn't want to come home empty-handed! I ordered the Matcha Duo ($6.95) for myself, and it was perfect - a nice matcha flavor with just the right amount of sweetness. I would definitely get it again. For my wife, I got the Coconut Matcha Latte ($6.95), as suggested by the staff. I love how they layer the matcha and coconut, but be sure to take a picture quickly, as it mixes easily. If you like taking pictures of your drinks, I recommend having a friend or partner grab a table beforehand, as there aren't many good spots for photos. Rok is definitely a place I'll return to explore more of their menu. I'd like to try going there earlier in the morning to beat the lines or order ahead.
I regret not asking for no sugar. I feel like they should ask for sugar levels like boba places do cos holy frick this was insanely sweet. I took 3 sips and I think that's my sugar intake for the whole year. It was so sweet I barely tasted the matcha. I got the duo with the matcha foam. I think the matcha foam's sweetness is probably not adjustable, but it's probably fine when paired with the latte being unsweetened. I tried my friend's blueberry shortcake one and that one was less sweet.
I am not sure what happened, but the drinks from Rok Coffee and Tea were not as good as I remembered. [Parking]: I didn't want to drive around and look for free residential parking this time, so I parked in the designated parking garage next door. $3 flat fee during dinner hours and $2 flat fee during lunch hours. [Amenity & ordering]: The restroom is shared with Ladang Tofu & Pot House next door. The waiting line was not as long as my first visit a year ago, but this matcha shop remains a popular spot for younger customers. There is a sign stating that this is the #1 matcha spot in Los Angeles according to Beli. [Instruction on how to enjoy duo]: There is a sign explaining how to enjoy their signature Duo drinks. First taste the cream (savor a little on top first), then give a gentle swirl (lightly stir the cream, then take a sip), mix it well (stir well to mix the puree for full flavor), then sip & enjoy (pop the lid on and drink it down). *** Horjicha Duo (milk of choice, hojicha and hojicha cream - $7.50): The cream tasted a bit chocolatey and the drink was slightly sweeter than I would have liked. There was also too much ice - it felt like the cup was 50% ice, 25% hojicha latte, and 25% hojicha cream. Matcha Duo Mango (milk of choice, mango puree, uji matcha and matcha cream - $8.50): For some odd reason, this cup had about 25% ice instead of 50% ice. I liked this drink a bit better than the Hojicha Duo, but the mango puree was sweeter than I would have liked. *** I am not a fan of how much ice this shop puts in for their drinks and how sweet the drinks are. Personally, I think Ayer Coffee in Tustin has a better mango matcha and Stagger Coffee has a better Hojicha Duo.
I've been coming here since they first opened and have always loved the concept and atmosphere, so I wanted to share some feedback. Lately, the matcha just hasn't tasted as good as it used to and the drinks have been much sweeter, even when I ask for them less sweet. I also tried the newer hojicha drink, but it tasted more like sweet chocolate than hojicha. The quality seems different? The female staff have always been really kind, but the last few times I've been here, some of the male staff haven't been as friendly. One time I accidentally spilled part of my drink and let them know, but the 2 guys just looked at me and didn't respond. I ended up cleaning it myself because I didn't want anyone to slip. I still like this place, but I just hope the drinks and service get back to how they were when they first opened.
Their matcha duo was probably the richest double matcha type drink I've tried. It was thick and creamy, with plenty of matcha kick. The size though, is smaller than most places...
I only waited in line for around 10 minutes before getting to order on a weekend afternoon. I was impressed by their various matcha selection, but I ended up trying their classic Matcha Duo, and my friend tried their Earl Grey Matcha. Both were delicious in their own ways, and both were smooth and creamy. The Matcha Duo was sweet, refreshing, and well balanced, while the Early Grey Matcha had a subtle floral note that paired well with the matcha. Neither drink was overly sweet, and I loved this spot for their creative matcha drinks! read more
Rok Coffee and Tea had been on my list for a while and I finally got to try it during our recent visit to LA! My son also recommended it, even though he had never actually tried their drinks. LOL. It was one of his friend's favorite cafes so I was really looking forward to going. Unfortunately, we couldn't find the right time to stop by until toward the end of our trip. I'm so glad we finally did though because I'm now in love! Rok instantly became one of my favorite cafes in LA. If I had tried their drinks at the beginning of our trip, I honestly would have gone back every day until we left! They have so many interesting drink combinations. This time, I tried the Earl Grey Matcha Duo. I love both Earl Grey and matcha but I wasn't quite sure how well they would pair together until I took my first sip. OMG, it was sooooo good!!! The balance between the Earl Grey flavor and the matcha was perfect. No wonder they've been recognized as one of the best places for matcha in the U.S. They also use Uji matcha which made me even more excited to try it. Our first visit to Rok was only two days before we left LA and I liked it so much that I had to have it one more time before we went home. On the morning of our flight, we got up a little earlier just so we could stop by and get their drinks before heading to the airport! I got the Earl Grey Matcha Duo again while my husband and son both tried the Lotus Einspanner. My son has never been a coffee drinker so I was surprised that he wanted to try one. I honestly expected him not to finish it but he LOVED it! He did tell us later that the caffeine really got to him, though. LOL. There really isn't a cafe in my area that does matcha drinks well so I was especially happy that I got to enjoy such good matcha during this trip. Rok has definitely become one of my must-go cafes in LA and we'll absolutely be back the next time we visit! read more

Earl Grey Matcha Duo (10/10) - genuinely the best earl grey matcha i've ever had the earl grey and matcha balance is perfect where it is 60% earl grey and 40% matcha Mango Coconut Matcha (7.5/10) - very refreshing and tastes amazing on a hot day but my only complaint is that the mango pieces are too big to fit on the straws that they have so you end up having bits of mango stuck to the bottom and getting stuck on your straw Matcha Macadamia Cookie (5/10) - the matcha flavor is there but it's very dry and messy to eat and I would not recommend spending $5 on it Parking - there's a parking structure connected but it can be very hard to find parking and street parking is difficult to find as well and you might need to drive a block or two to get a good spot Seating - there's not a lot of seating since it is very busy so I would recommend staying outside if it is packed inside read more

Usually there is a long line and we never wait if there is. This time there was no line, so we took a chance. Drinks 3/5 Matcha Duo - Met expectations, good level of creaminess to it. Hojicha Duo - Awful. Did not taste like hojicha at all and moreso like chocolate. Chestnut Latte - Drink was good, enjoyed this one. Service 4/5 Standard, nothing special. Ambiance 2/5 Small space inside full of customers. The accumulation of people waiting for their drinks is claustrophobic and there's nowhere to really properly stand without being a roadblock to others since all the seats are taken. It's also kinda dirty across the floors and tables, not sure if there's a lack of consistent upkeep throughout the day. Also, the thermal photobooth was not working with no out of order signage. read more
matcha duo ($7.5) - good strong matcha! Pretty similar to stagger - it's on the sweeter side though and more creamy; if you like creamy matcha this would be for you - while it is good, i do think it's a bit small for the price and id rather go to damo or yeems for matcha rating: 4/5 - solid spot for matcha but would go elsewhere for matcha since this is a bit more pricey than other spots i like more - it's got a classy clean looking interior; you can also sit outside but not much vibes IG: @nom.noms.only read more

Stopped by on a Sunday around 6:30 PM, and the café was still pretty lively. There was a bit of a wait, and street parking was the biggest challenge. I ended up parking about a block away, so prepare for that if you're coming during peak hours. I ordered the Tropical Hibiscus and the Coconut Matcha Einspanner. The Tropical Hibiscus was a great caffeine-free option with a light, citrusy flavor that was really refreshing. The Coconut Matcha Einspanner was the standout. The coconut water made it incredibly refreshing, and the matcha was smooth and light without being too earthy or overpowering. Everything worked well together, and I'd order it again without hesitation. The cafe itself has a clean, modern aesthetic featuring a pretty tree in the middle. They also have a photo booth inside that was fun, although the photo quality looked like it was printed on a receipt which could be a vibe. The music fit the atmosphere well and made the space feel relaxed without being too loud. Overall, it's a nice spot to grab a drink and spend some time with friends. Parking can be a hassle, but the drinks and atmosphere make it worth the trip. I'd definitely come back to work my way through more of the menu. read more
Suffice it to say, I'm not really that big on matcha. It's not that I hate it, I just think I'd be fine without it. With that being said, I've always seen this store with a super large crowd in the front whenever I'm in LA and I was curious to see what the hype was about. Going in knowing this is such a favorite matcha spot for so many people didn't make me think any more or less of it. If anything, it just confirmed my feelings toward matcha. Don't get me wrong, the drink was really good!!! I just don't think it's for me (and that line wasn't for me either). I really did enjoy the free black and white photobooth that prints on a receipt paper though and the store itself is super cute!!! If I were to recommend a matcha spot to someone this would definitely be on my list! I can understand why people love this place so much. read more

Oooooh....both the coffee and matcha here goes down soooo smooth! Street parking only so good luck with that. I was expecting a long line but came here on a Friday afternoon and to my surprise, only about 5 people ahead of us. Line wasn't even out the door. We ordered a Lotus Einspanner and a matcha duo, both with almond milk. I got my Lotus Einspanner half sweet and it was the perfect amount of sweetness to espresso taste ratio. The matcha duo was one of the better matchas I've had in awhile. You can taste the earthy matcha flavor. Drinks took a bit long to make but I get it, this is a constantly busy spot. Unfortunately, no designated bathroom but you can use the bathroom from the Korean hot pot restaurant which is connected to Rok. I do have to say, their cup sizes are pretty small to how much you're paying per drink. It looks like maybe a 12 oz cup? Maybe even smaller than that. I usually cannot drink my coffees in one go, but I was able to EASILY finish this one. Still, glad I was able to come and try Rok's Lotus Einspanner. read more
My daughter had been to Rok Coffee and Tea before and absolutely loved their matcha, so we decided to stop by again. One thing I always take as a good sign is when there's a line outside, and this place definitely had one. Thankfully, they have a menu posted outside, which helps everyone decide before reaching the counter. The line moved surprisingly fas, it really operates like a well-oiled machine. There is seating available both indoors and outdoors, although we decided to take our order to go. Since it was after 3 p.m., I was just treating my daughter because I don't drink caffeine that late in the day. Parking in Koreatown is a nightmare, so be prepared to walk a bit if you're driving. I'm I'm After placing our order, the wait wasn't long at all. Once we got back to the car and headed to our next stop, my daughter took a sip of her matcha and immediately said it smelled awful. My sense of smell and taste isn't nearly as sensitive as hers, so I offered to try it myself. As soon as I lifted the cup to take a sip through the straw, I noticed the odor too. It was quite pungent, and after one sip, I couldn't bring myself to drink any more. Unfortunately, the drink ended up in the trash. I'm not sure if this was just a bad batch of matcha or if it hadn't been stored properly and had been exposed to air, but it was definitely disappointing. Would I come back? Yes. Every business can have an off day, especially when my daughter has enjoyed their matcha in the past. When I do I will update my review. The lesson I learned is to take a quick sip before leaving, just in case something isn't right. read more
ROK's strawberry shortcake matcha was very thick and creamy. For me personally it was a little too sweet, but if you're someone who loves dessert-style matchas, you will DEFINITELY love this drink. They really nailed the "strawberry shortcake" concept because it genuinely tasted like strawberry shortcake in drink form. The matcha itself was rich and thick, and the strawberry shortcake flavor didn't completely overpower the matcha which I appreciated. Definitely make sure to mix it really well though because the strawberry puree at the bottom is VERY sweet on its own. Next time I come back I want to try the matcha einspanner so I can taste the matcha more on its own without the added sweetness. read more
I can see why its so highly rated! Street parking, little seating inside but decorated very well and so cute! Service was great, very kind and helpful Ordered a Cafe Duo & Strawberry Shortcake Matcha Duo (default milk is whole milk for both) Cafe Duo: 9/10 Very good loved the coffee cream Strawberry Shortcake Matcha Duo: 9.5/10 great flavor, no grittiness and the flavors didn't overpower each other, very well done. We stopped by on a Sunday morning and luckily caught it before the rush. We were actually on our way to eat at the attached restaurant but decided to get our drinks ahead of time. Luckily we did because there was a long line when we left. It's a cozy little coffee shop and space is limited inside so keep that in mind if your planning to enjoy your drinks there. They offer a variety of drink creations and also sell pastries. I tried the Lotus Einspänner and liked that it was super creamy. I would have preferred the coffee to be a bit stronger in flavor but I enjoyed the drink. There are so many unique options here, I'll definitely be back to try more. There is street parking or a paid parking garage around the corner. read more
I love going to Rok early on a Sunday morning -- no line, super peaceful, and there's free parking in the garage, which makes the whole experience even better. Their matcha duo is my absolute favorite. It's so creamy, rich, and perfectly balanced. The inside seating is really nice too, with a beautiful aesthetic that makes you want to linger a bit. They share restrooms with La Sung restaurant, which is good to know before you go. Such a great spot for a calm, delicious start to the day! read more
The coconut water in the coconut matcha tasted funky but the coconut cream was good. Coconut water makes up half the drink so overall, the drink was underwhelming and not worth waiting for. It's so crowded in there too D: read more

The parking was a bit of a struggle but the drinks made this place so worth it ! The drinks here come out quickly (the service here is very efficient) without the sacrifice of taste and quality. The strawberry match duo - 10/10. The strawberry was not artificial tasting at all (it tasted fresh and REAL). The matcha was very creamy and complimented the strawberry well. I would say the stronger flavor profile in this drink was the strawberry even though the matcha was pretty strong as well. The hojicha duo - 10/10. The hojicha here has a deeper roasted nutty flavor and is very smooth. Sometimes hojicha comes out grainy but not this place. The creaminess really made this thing extra yummy. The store also has a little photo booth too which is super cute (adds aura points haha). read more

This was my second time coming here, and I had a great experience both times! Both times, the line was out the door, but I've heard this is very common. The line moves fairly quickly. I have tried the Matcha Duo and Strawberry Matcha Duo, and I really enjoyed the Strawberry Matcha Duo in particular! The strawberry that they use is so yummy and has great flavor that pairs great with the creamy matcha. The only downside is the size of their drinks compared to the price, but it's worth it to give their drinks a taste! I would love to come back for their Strawberry Matcha Duo if I'm ever in the area again. read more

I can see why people rave about Rok Coffee and Tea, it's pretty good! Street parking is available and it wasn't too busy when we came after dinner on Friday. They're known for their cream top matcha lattes, so I decided to go with the Mango Matcha Duo. The drink was delicious and I really enjoyed the mango flavor throughout the drink. I'll have to come back to try their other drinks, but it's definitely a great spot for double matcha. read more
So good!!! One of the best double matchas I've ever had! I wish the drinks had been bigger because we drank them so fast. Perfect amount of sweet without overdoing it and overpowering the actual matcha. Super friendly staff and cute interior too! My friend got the black sesame latte but they ended up liking my drink (matcha duo) more so they ordered one as well. We would definitely both come back! read more

One of the best matcha and hojicha drinks I've had recently! I seriously want to drive down to SoCal just to get it again. The Hojicha Duo was amazing, and the Sparkling Yuzu Matcha was so refreshing. I used to think sparkling matcha sounded a little weird, but wow, this changed my mind completely. It was so good. Please open a location in the Bay Area! The line was really long when I went around Saturday at 12 PM, but honestly it was worth the wait. Matcha lovers need to run here! read more

Arrived at Rok around 1 pm on a Saturday and there was a 20-25 minute wait. We ordered the strawberry matcha duo and the matcha duo. The strawberry matcha duo was a bit too sweet for me. It tasted mainly like straight strawberry with a lot of syrup. It overpowered the matcha. The matcha duo, on the other hand, tasted much better and you can taste more of the matcha flavor. The matcha flavor is there, but not super strong. The matcha duo tasted more balanced than the strawberry one. Service was excellent. The cashier was kind and bubbly. While we were waiting inside, there was a cute little Photo Booth where you can take pictures and it'll print out your photo on receipt paper! There is some seating inside but considering how popular it is, I would say it gets packed and can be difficult to find seating. There is valet parking for $2 for 90 minutes in the back. You can also try to find street parking but it's difficult since it is located in a traffic heavy area. I wouldn't say Rok is the best matcha I've ever had. There's definitely better, but it was worth a try to see what the hype is about. read more
My friends and I came around 11:15 AM on Sunday and there was a small line out the door but not as bad as we were expecting! We have been wanting to try Rok forever and I can definitely see the hype. We ordered the duo matcha, matcha latte, hojicha latte, and a yuzu tea. The matcha and hojicha flavors were all super strong and the drink itself was super creamy. They might have one of the best hojicha lattes I've had in a while. It has a dark roasted flavor which I love. The only drawbacks were that you can't adjust the sweetness (the drinks were super sweet at default) and the size is super small for the price. We came from OC and are spoiled with super good matcha so we probably wouldn't go out of our way to come back but it was great to try it out! I LOVED this place soo much!!! It was my first time trying ROK Coffee & Tea. I went on YouTube for the search of good Matcha in LA. A few different YouTubers raved about ROK Coffee & Tea, so I decided to try them out... and it definitely lived up to the recommendations! The MATCHA DUO was EXCEPTIONAL and delicious! It had the perfect amount of sweetness, the perfect creaminess, and the matcha wasn't bitter at all. You can tell they use really good, high-quality matcha because not only could I taste the quality, I could feel it in my energy level too. My sister got the MANGO MATCHA DUO with oat milk and absolutely loved it. My sister's coworker tried the SPARKLING YUZU MATCHA and said it was delicious! She loved that the yuzu flavor wasn't overpowering and said the matcha tasted very high quality. We also got the STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE MATCHA DUO because it was recommended as one of their top picks. We gave it to another one of her coworkers, and she finished it so quick! She said it tasted like a dessert and raved about how delicious and amazing it was! There's seating area in front of the café and as well as inside. The inside is really cute and had a nice atmosphere. The best time to go is early in the morning when open. Customer service was exceptional! Everyone was very kind while at the same time quick and attentive to the line. If there tends to be a line, it moves pretty quickly, and our drinks were ready fast after we ordered. If you get lucky, you can find street parking, but be careful parking on Olympic Blvd. during certain times. Not to worry though because they do have a parking structure, which makes things much easier. Overall, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ROK Coffee & Tea! Everything we tried gets a 10/10 from us! The quality of the matcha, the flavors, the customer service, and the overall experience were all excellent. We will most definitely be back!!! read more
Pretty crowded inside and line but fast service. Expect no seating inside and pretty tight space. Everyone seems to get the matcha. The matcha is okay, decent flavor (not super strong but not astringent/bitter, and not too sweet. The fruit jams are pretty strong and sweet so if possible reduce the sugar or else youll need the ice to melt. I also tried the dubai chewy cookies which were on the pricier side but pretty packed with a prominent pistachio flavor. The strawberry matcha had a nice strawberry tart bite but overall the matcha part of it is overpowered by the sugar. I think its a decent matcha and has more variety than stagger. read more
