I had high hopes for Jurassic Magic, but my recent visit left me pretty disappointed. I ordered the Gentle Giant, expecting a solid cup of coffee, but it barely had any coffee flavor at all. The drink tasted incredibly watered down, which was a big letdown when you're paying cafe prices. The customer service didn't help the experience, either. The baristas weren't friendly, and I noticed they didn't offer a greeting or a simple thank you to anyone ordering. The whole interaction was extremely matter-of-fact, making the place feel cold and entirely unwelcoming. The location itself has a heavy hipster vibe, so if that's your jam, you might actually enjoy the atmosphere they've put together. I visited Jurassic Coffee, and unfortunately, it didn't quite meet my expectations. I tried the Magic Latte, which was decent but didn't really have that "wow" factor I was hoping for. The spices over powered the taste of coffee. The employees also weren't particularly sociable or welcoming, which took away from the overall experience. Ooookay hot coffee shop! I recently saw Jurassic Magic on a list of great caffeination stations in Los Angeles so had to check them out. Under the Speciality drinks, I had to try their Magic Latte for $8 plus an extra 50 cents for an oat milk sub! I loved this drink with it's mix of clove, ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg ~ yum. I also got,per suggestions from you Yelpers (thanks!), the Jurassic Magic Cold Brew ($6.50) which I added vanilla syrup for 50 cents to. Liked it but it didn't hit as much as that Magic Latte. They also have a bunch of baked goods, sourced from Sugar Bloom Bakery. The Gluten-free devil's food donut is $5.50 here and I love it. I understand they may be starting to bake some of their own pastries, as well, Overall, glad I popped into Jurassic Magic and love their new-ish food spot Convi next door. read more

Stopped by Jurassic Magic for a cortado. The drink looked Solid at first, but it didn't quite come together the way I hoped. The flavor was decent and enjoyable enough, but the biggest issue was the texture. It had a chalky, almost powdery mouthfeel that made it feel muddy and took away from the overall experience. Presentation was okay, though there were some visible bubbles in the milk that kept it from having that smooth, glossy finish you'd expect from a really well-executed cortado. The latte art was decent enough, but nothing particularly memorable. The texture never really improved from the first sip to the last. The body broke apart a little more than halfway. Not a bad cortado by any means, and the taste itself was decent, and service was pretty straight forward and solid. The place itself is nice and somewhere I would hang out but I'm not sure if I'd return for the cortado. read more

My friend told me about a cute little coffee shop named Jurassic Magic and I was intrigued. Plus, they're next door to Convi, which serves great sandwiches! It's always nice to come here in the quiet hours of the morning and spend some time reading. Staff are always friendly and I never have to wait long for my drinks, even though there's always been a line every time I've been here. There is wifi available, but this place isn't really a remote work spot- they only have low tables inside and not a lot of seating. I've gotten both coffee and matcha here before and both are great. I appreciate the personable and welcoming employee interactions, and their menu offers your standard espresso-based and matcha drinks along with their own unique concoctions. I tried their Fall Basics drink, which was an iced Americano garnished with cacao nibs, a chocolate-yuzu cold foam, and citrus zest. It was a refreshing beverage that I consumed quickly, and the flat white I tried on a subsequent visit was well-crafted. I was impressed by the garden seating area that is located in the rear section of the cafe. It feels like a hidden oasis as you walk past the vinyl recordings and other merchandise on sale. This truly is a little pocket of magic tucked away in the corner of my neighborhood that brings me so much joy every time I come. The place itself has great outdoor seating, and is always such a nice way to meet cool people and cute dogs in the community, but if you go in thru the looking glass in the back you'll find yourself in a truly magical outdoor hang space that is also an installation for local vendors. The coffee is expertly prepared using great beans and the specialty and seasonal drinks are always a hit. I'd be remiss not to mention how lovely the staff are. Everyone not only cares about what they're doing, but they genuinely seem to like working with each other and recognize their value in the community. I sampled the Gentle Giant which also was a great choice if you're on the fence on what to try. But wait! Don't leave after getting your drink!! Wander through the mirrored hallway and step into their garage-turned-forest backyard. Decorated with lush greenery, art, and sunlight streaming in, it's the type of place that invites you to stay for awhile! My friends and I ended up sitting for much longer than planned, just soaking in the atmosphere and taking pics. Street parking is free, though it can be a little tricky to find. The service was very good. All staff was super friendly. The vibes of the places were great! I loved the back patio with all the plants but seated is limited and first come first serve. Parking is difficult since it's on the corner of a busy street but if you find street parking in the neighborhood and don't mind a walk you should be good. My friend and I got the Magic Latte with oat milk and Magic Matcha. We really enjoyed the coffee taste for the latte and the nutty-ness of the milk. As for the matcha, I couldn't really taste any matcha. Also the "magic" flavoring was not too forward in either drinks so we couldn't really tell the difference. I've been to Jurassic Magic at least two dozen times since opening. Out of all of the local coffee shops around town-- I would say this one is my absolute favorite! If this is your first time visiting Jurassic I promise you won't get lost. They are located on a quiet street of Mansfield and Washington. They have a red sign on the corner for maximum guidance. Once you have seen the red and white umbrellas then voila! You have arrived. I love their umbrellas, they remind me of circus tents for some odd reason. My partner and I usually come here for their coffees, however we'll have some of their pastries sporadically. Magic latte- my partners usual order, this coffee has the right amount of sweetness and a burst of cinnamon equilibrium. Definitely recommend this if you like your coffee with a little pizzazz- 8.5/10 Latte with almond milk- heck, I'm a sssssssucker for this order. I feel like the almond milk gives it enough sweetness if you're into strong coffee or if you're looking for a drink with a low caloric intake. Definitely recommend! 10/10 Ham and cheese croissant- not the greatest in my opinion. The croissant if good by itself, however the ham and cheese add on doesn't work for my liking. Cream cheese brioche cinnamon roll- all I have to say is wow! This pastry is an outright winner. The frosting is not overly sweet and the bread is soft and amazing. Went here a few months ago with my brother and it was good. I discovered this place on Tiktok when I was looking for a nearby local coffee shops in Mid-City (SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SHOPS). When we got here it was super packed and a lot of people were waiting for their drinks. The decorations on the walls were super cool to look at and the aura of the people working there just radiated pure joy and welcomeness (if that makes sense). We ordered and I'd say it took no more than 10 minutes for us to receive our drinks which isn't too bad honestly. I decided to go with the classic Iced Matcha Latte, it was good but something was missing. Still enjoyed and drank it all! No one greeted me when I first walked in, I continue to order and once my drink is ready, they didn't call my name or say your drink is ready...nothing.
