We visited Maru Espresso Bar around 1:30 pm on a Sunday and there was a short line out the door. Drinks: We ordered the Iced Breve Macchiato and Cream Top, but unfortunately, neither was really for us. The Cream Top had a sour coffee flavor that I wasn't a huge fan of, and once the cream started running out, it became pretty difficult for me to enjoy. The Iced Breve Macchiato was better in comparison, but still not something I particularly loved. I think this style of coffee just isn't my preference. I tend to enjoy stronger, bolder coffee flavors, similar to Vietnamese-style coffee, so these drinks didn't quite hit the mark for me. Seating: The shop itself is pretty small, with little to no seating or tables available. Parking: Street parking only, and we had a really difficult time finding a spot. I can see how others might enjoy this style of coffee, but based on what we tried, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back. read more

Their other coffees are usually way too bitter for my liking. This Vanilla Bean Flat has a great ratio of sweetness to coffee taste. The Yuzu Lemonade is a good mid-day refresher. Dear Maru Espresso Bar Team, I'm writing because I had a very disappointing experience at Maru on 9/23/26 especially as someone who has been a loyal customer and goes out of my way to purchase your coffee despite not even being a coffee drinker. Maru's Cream Top is actually the only coffee I drink. Because I start work very early--before Maru opens--I have developed a routine of coming in the day before, purchasing two Cream Tops, having them made without ice and with heavy cream, taking them home, refrigerating them overnight, and bringing them with me to work the following morning. It is extremely inconvenient for me to have to make a special trip before 5 p.m., carry two drinks home, and plan around your hours, but I do it because I genuinely love the coffee. Over the past few days, however, I have had several frustrating interactions with the staff regarding this very simple request. Two days ago, I went in after work and was told by the young woman taking my order that the Cream Top could not be made without ice. Yesterday, I was unable to come in because I got off work too late. Today, I stopped by during lunchtime and ordered my coffee with ice because I was drinking it immediately, and I also purchased a pastry. Later, after work, I returned specifically to purchase two Cream Tops to take home for the next morning. I again asked for them without ice. I was told no. I even asked in Korean after seeing Korean-speaking staff, trying to explain exactly why I needed them without ice. Despite explaining the situation, I continued to receive pushback rather than any effort to accommodate a longtime customer. Because I had to transport the drinks home, I also asked for a coffee carrier that would securely hold the drinks. The employee gave me a different type of tray. I specifically asked if he could give me the carrier that more securely holds the cups because, as I explained to all three employees, I had to take the drinks home and was concerned about them spilling. I was told that you had run out and that this was the only carrier available. Unfortunately, the result was exactly what I had been trying to prevent. There was an excessive amount of ice, and somehow the drinks melted and spilled all over the bag I was carrying them in. I have never had a coffee spill all over my bag like this before. What was most upsetting was not simply that the drinks spilled. It was the overall attitude and lack of willingness to help. I understand that businesses have policies and that there may be operational reasons for certain things, but the way a reasonable customer request is communicated matters. I was not asking for anything complicated or unreasonable. I was simply trying to purchase the same coffee I regularly buy in a way that allows me to safely take it home and drink it the next morning. I really love Maru's coffee, which is why I continue to make the effort to come back despite the inconvenience. I hope you will take this feedback seriously and speak with the team about customer service, communication, and finding reasonable solutions for customers rather than simply pushing back on requests. I would appreciate hearing from someone regarding this experience, particularly because I would like to continue being a Maru customer but do not want to have another experience like this. read more

Since I tried Maru Coffee, I knew I had to stop at the espresso bar as well. From what I know, the espresso bar features more of their special coffee drinks. When we arrived, there was a line flowing out the door. There's no seating apart from a small waiting bench inside this location as it's a grab n go spot. When we got up to the front, the barista was helpful in answering our questions and taking our order. I ordered the vanilla bean latte and my friend took the iced oat flat white. I was curious about the house made syrup and sadly, it was a bit too sweet. Partly my fault though because I keep forgetting everything in America is sweeter lol. However, the syrup had a natural warm sweetness to it and I ended up enjoying it more after it watered down a bit. I think I prefer their staple unsweetened coffee drinks as the natural aroma and flavour of their beans are so good. I'll have to come back again next time I'm in LA! read more

There's no tables for sitting; all orders are take-out only to keep the lines moving. Staff are always welcoming, friendly and in a good mood. The interior is clean, warm, wood-accented, and minimalistic. They sell a few merch, including whole beans from their high-altitude source and Fellow products. They seriously know how to extract the perfect espresso here at Maru. Each cup, no matter which option you go with is balanced, silky and rich in flavor. 1. Espresso Con Panna (5/5) One of their signature drinks containing double espresso with cacao powder and their signature smooth, cream top. Lightly sweet, not bitter or acidic. It has a hint of tangy spice to it which I just loved. 2. Iced Breve Macchiato (5/5) A tiny, but mighty cup of double espresso poured over their signature velvety cream and milk. Aesthetically pleasing to look at, even more amazing to the tastebuds as the warm espresso plus the occasional coldness from the 1 large ice cube they place at the bottom of the cup. They also sell a few pastry items here such as croissants and matcha donut. I opted to try the Matcha donut, which was moist and has a spongy texture. It was not sweet and had a subtle matcha flavor. Okay, so I really wanted to like this coffee spot. However, I felt it was highly overrated. I came on A Sunday afternoon, the line was not as long as usual, so I decided to try it out. As someone who was born and raised in LA and currently lives on the Westside, I have tried my fair share of coffee shops from the SFV to the city. Our family told us we must try this place, and recommended the iced breve machiato and the mocha latte. We decided to grab some espresso beans for the house, which were $36.... for coffee beans! I went inside and it's a very small area, so that could be the reason why there's always a long line, but maybe not 'coz it's still like a never ending line here every time we pass by. I lined up and tried their SIGNATURE COFFEE the CREAM TOP. Got my drink quickly since they have many employees making the drinks. So I finally tried it and the hype is real, I can taste the good quality of their coffee here. Parking is tough here, it's one of the busiest areas of Beverly Hills since there are plenty of restaurants nearby. As far as quality goes, Maru has probably the best espresso I've ever consumed in my life. It's so smooth and the flavors are perfect. I find most places overheat their espresso or don't brew at all constant temperature causing the espresso to burn even a little. The espresso here is so delicious and worth standing in a long line for. The aesthetic for this location is minimalist which I love, there are a couple spots to sit down while you wait. The staff works pretty fast considering the demand they deal with as the line is constantly out the door and wrapped around the corner. It's not a sit and stay type place, more grab and go, and then can enjoy the walkable scenery around The Maybourne Hotel area. I only wish they did their famous cloud cream in a non dairy version because it looked great. They didn't have any matcha latte though We ordered Vanilla Bean Flat White with extra milk on the side and Cream Top. The cream was so delicious. The coffee on my Cream Top wa very smooth. We definitely loved our drinks. We were so excited that we didn't get to take photos of our drinks. The queue was somewhat long when we got there. We were in line for 10 minutes and our drinks came in less than 5 minutes or so. There were only limited seats inside the cafe. read more
