We had an incredible canyoneering experience with Rock Odyssey and Zack in particular, as our guide! Zack came in on his day off as we called last minute. From the moment he picked us up at our hotel, he was fun, knowledgeable, confidence inspiring and very patient. We had little experience as a group and my son (13 years old) is very hesitant to do anything new, but Zach eased him in to repelling and built a rapport and connection to where he was able to overcome his fear. The scenery was beautiful, rugged but doable for all ages (youngest was 9) and this day was one of our absolute favorite of our entire Utah adventure. Absolutely highly recommended! Thank you, Zack! read more

We originally booked the half-day rock climbing + canyoneering combo tour, but since my friend was having some wrist issues, I called and spoke with Dion, who made switching to a full canyoneering tour so easy and stress-free. From that first call, the customer service was excellent. The day before, Zack, our guide reached out directly to introduce himself, confirm our start time, and let us know exactly what to bring. From the moment we met him, Zack MADE the tour. He was incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and attentive, literally anticipating questions my friend had before they even asked them, which instantly made them feel reassured and comfortable. Even though we switched tours last minute, Zack went above and beyond by giving us a taste of the rock climbing experience while still keeping things manageable and fun. He was super flexible in adapting the pace to what we were comfortable with, and I am so glad we ended up choosing canyoneering. It was the perfect balance of adventure, challenge, and fun without feeling overwhelming. To top it off, Zack told us about a local Peach Festival happening in town and even invited us to check it out, which was such a thoughtful touch that made the whole experience feel personal. Overall, this was one of the best tours I have ever been on. If it is your first time in Zion or you are unsure what to book, trust Rock Odysseys and ask for Zack if he is available. You will not regret it! read more

I signed up for a full day of rock climbing. Stephen, my guide, was incredible. He told me about Zion National Park on the drive to the climbing site. On the hike in, he educated me about the plants. Once I started to climb, he gave me good beta. He setup climbs appropriate for my ability. He took pictures, so I could share them with friends. I highly recommend Rock Odysseys regardless of your ability level. read more

I spent so much time researching all the guiding services and selected Rock Odyssey. We picked correctly. Dion was the best guide. We had so much fun. He was patient and informative and a great conversationalist. We took a trip through Water Canyon. You walk up the canyon, then rappel down. I aspire to do some canyoneering on my own, so he also provided some great field information. I feel comfortable doing it on my own now. He also provided some great local knowledge and history, which was utterly fascinating. On our way out, we saw a group of young polygamist girls (wives?) which was fascinating. At any rate, I can't recommend Rock Odyssey enough. read more

I had a blast with Ethan on the multi-pitch climbing trip at Lamb's Knoll. It was my first multi-pitch and I learned a lot. Ethan was very knowledgeable and had a wealth of experience. He led me down 400 ft of repelling then back up 5 pitches. The last pitch was the highlight and the longest. This climb had it all: overhanging jugs, a crimpy dihedral section, a bit of a mantle getting to the fourth traverse pitch, a couple of slabby moves at the start, and a finish in a small chimney. Some prior repelling experience is required. I recommend this experience for the sport climber who is curious about multi-pitch climbing. The entire route is well protected with glue-in bolts. Ethan does a great job when it comes to safety, buddy checks, communication, and best practices. Amazing experience and an amazing guide! I would book another trip with Rock Odysseys and Ethan again, an unforgettable experience! read more

Took a family adventure half day canyoneering trip with our 10& 6 yr old boys. Maggie was an amazing guide and was so patient and great with us. She coached and worked with our nervous boys even helping them down when they didnt have it in them for the first canyon. By the time we left everyone was wizzing down and excited for new adventures. Great communication from booking through to pickup. I honestly can say this was the best thing we did on our trip and well worth the cost of the private guided tour. Loved it and felt safe the entire time!! read more

My partner and I were on a vacation in the Zion area and had some extra time. We called Rock Odysseys to see if we could get a day of climbing in on short notice. We had not brought any of our own gear as we didn't plan on having time to do any climbing. They supplied ALL the equipment we needed, in excellent condition. Additionally, we had Ethan as our guide for the day, and he was beyond awesome. We walked away absolutely satisfied with our great day of climbing with Ethan. When getting home I realized I was missing jacket and may have left it in a multipitch pack I had borrowed for the day. Ethan found the jacket and Gabby put it in an envelope and mailed it to me. I can't thank them enough for doing that. Above and beyond. All around amazing people and can't recommend Rock Odysseys enough! read more

We had an amazing experience with Rock Odyssey. We chose to do a Rock Hoppers half-day combination experience. Josh was fabulous and patient with our girls. This four hour excursion was the highlight of our Zion vacation. Mark pick us us in a big comfortable SUV at our lodgings. He was friendly, knowledgeable, skilled, and professional. We really enjoyed our conversations. He made us feel very comfortable and safe which was a tall order since it was our first time repelling into canyons and we consider ourselves city folk. My sister and I are in our mid 50's. My sister is mildly physically active and I am moderately physically active. The hike up can be challenging due to the 6000 ft elevation. The views and amazing feeling while repelling mades the steep hikes all worth it. We managed to repel down six canyons, during this time, leveling up with each experience. The highlight being Snake Canyon. It was an amazing experience and will be one of my most favorite memories in life. Thank you, Mark !! read more

We booked the afternoon half day Canyoneering trip during Thanksgiving week. Our guide, Marley met us at the Kolob road junction (15 minutes drive from Springdale) and we followed him up to Lambs Knoll (20 minutes drive). Marley had his mask on the entire time and followed covid protocols. We were fitted with helmets, harnesses when we got to the parking lot. We started our moderately easy hike to our first rappelling stop. Marley was very good with my young kids (ages 7, 9) and gave us some fun facts about the canyon. The kids had great interaction with him the entire time. During our 4 hour trip we climbed, rappelled 3-4x and walked through narrow crevices. We felt safe the entire time. There were other people rappelling but all at a safe distance. We really enjoyed the scenery. Will definitely do the tour with Rock Odysseys again! read more

What an amazing experience! We had such a great time--including our cousin who turned out to be hiding a fear of heights. Our guide was so incredibly gracious, and he created an experience we all could love despite our varying skill levels (our trip was in April and I'm devastated I can't remember his name). I 100% recommend. read more

My friend and I booked a half day canyoneering trip with Rock Odysseys through Yelp. Our guide was Matt and he was super helpful and encouraging. My friend and I are not active people and he chose routes that were fairly challenging but doable. At one point, we rock climbed and did some scrambling - which honestly I was trying to avoid (hence why I booked just canyoneering/rappeling) but I'm very glad he pushed us to try because we wouldn't have seen some incredible views without some climbing. I highly suggest anyone to try this out who is looking for something active to do outside the crowdedness of Zion National Park. Tip: Wear long sleeves and long pants to avoid getting scraped on rocks! read more

Everyone in my family of four (two kids ages 10 and 12) loved our canyoneering half day trip today! Stephen was the perfect guide. He made all of us feel really safe, and at the same time challenged us so that we had an exhilarating experience. He was able to tell us a lot about the local geology, which was fascinating. The canyons we repelled into, and the scenery in general were truly breathtaking. My kids want to do it again tomorrow!! read more

Our guides, Gabby (Owner) and Sandra were absolutely wonderful. They were very patient and encouraging since most of us had never rappelled. We were vacationing in the area and planning on visiting Zion National Park as well as the Grand Canyon. In addition, I decided to book a full day combo tour (rock climbing + canyoneering) for me, my wife and our two teenage sons. The entire experience was amazing from beginning to end with Rock Odysseys. They patiently answered my questions and then were able to book our trip without any issues. On the day of the trip, we met our guide Gabby at the rendezvous point. None of us had any real experience with climbing or rappelling and a couple were a little scared of heights. This was no problem for Gabby. She is an amazing guide. She is so knowledgable about the sport and had the most patient, cool-headed demeanor even with two rowdy teenage boys. She is an amazing teacher and made sure we all learned a lot and had an amazing experience. We felt so safe and well-cared for. Kudos to the Rock Odysseys team as they crushed it on our trip and a HUGE nod to our amazing guide, Gabby, who made the trip so much fun for us. I highly recommend Rock Odysseys if you're in the area and looking for an adventure! read more

This was an awesome adventure!!! Our whole family had a great time with Gabby and Sandra leaving and guiding us through the entire time. At first there was fear and anxiety in some of us but through their coaching and encouragement we all made it through! It was an amazing experience that we will never forget. The best part for me was watching my wife overcome her initial fears of repelling down the cliffs and seeing her smile as she gained more confidence. Our two guides were passionate and true professionals and we will always be thankful to them and this extraordinary experience. read more

I was still trying to solidify my plans to Zion and had to change my schedule and delay my payment- Dion was super flexible and accommodating during that process which I greatly appreciated. Additionally, I wanted to learn to lead climb and he accommodated that as well by teaching us to lead climb while still being top roped in for safety. He was very knowledgeable, patient, and personable. We had a great time. He was an awesome guide for sure! Would definitely recommend this place and Dion as your guide! read more

I was never worried or concerned about their safety as Gabby had everything under control. She is an excellent guide and I highly recommend her. Yes, my 4 year old rappelled! My two friends and I decided last minute that we wanted to end our Zion trip with a bang. We gave Rock Odysseys a ring and they were able to accommodate a half day trip for us 2 days prior. We were picked up by Zach (the owner) outside of Zion National Park and drove 30 minutes out to Kolab Terrace to start canyoneering! We've never done canyoneering before but expressed that we wanted to be adventurous and Zach tailored our request to exactly what we wanted and more. He provided harnesses, helmets, rope, and even a helmet for our GoPro. He was thorough in explaining safety instructions and was very attentive to us if we were shaky on some rappels. We all rappelled down the tallest rappel peak called the "Boyscout." This required us to do a little rocking climbing to get to the base where the views were amazing! We did a total of 6 technical rappels throughout the 5 hours we were out there, crawled through narrow cracks in the canyons and hiked up to gorgeous lookout points to rappel from. I highly recommend his company if you want to have a safe, fun and rewarding canyoneering experience. Zach is very friendly and is always making sure you're having a great time. Him and his team are very efficient and accommodating to your every needs. Next time I'm out there, I'm definitely going to do the Rock Climbing course with Rock Odysseys! read more

I can't say enough good things about Rock Odysseys. A group of 4 of us booked a full-day canyoneering trip in early September as part of a road trip around the South West. It wasn't cheap, but it was worth every cent. Our guide led us on a 6-hour adventure into Water Canyon, involving hiking, scrambling and abseiling (rappelling). The scenery was extraordinary, and a guided tour was by far the best way to see it - I wouldn't have felt safe trekking there without a guide, let alone rappelling off a ledge! This trip was probably the highlight of my 3 months in the US, and I'd love to go back some day! read more

This was my first time doing actual rock climbing, and I couldn't have asked for a better time. Jake was my instructor and he was super patient, knowledgeable, helpful, and made my first time memorable. I did a solo trip and we covered a lot of ground. We were excited that our family's first visit to Zion would also include outdoor rock climbing as well as canyoneering. We regularly climb indoor at our gym, but our kids have never climbed outdoors or rappelled. We wanted this first experience for our 8 yo daughter and 11 yo son to be amazing - fun, challenging and worry-free. Based on her bio and reviews, we booked 2 days with Gabby, and couldn't be happier. Rock Odysseys is one of the few companies that has female guides, and we loved having Gabby as our guide! She is everything you want - knowledgeable, talented, experienced, friendly, safety conscious, and thoughtful. On our first day, she eased us into climbing with an easier slab climb, but then set up a range of climbs that were fun and challenging! On our second day, Gabby set up new routes (longer and more exposed) that were just right to make our Zion climbing experience unforgettable! And this was before canyoneering and rappelling! Our daughter was fairly nervous about rappelling, but Gabby made her feel safe and worry-free about anything happening. Gabby picked the perfect first rappel - by the end, our daughter thought rappelling "was awesome". Just like climbing, Gabby then led us through a series of spectacular rappels and canyons that were fun and amazing, ending with a 100' rappel in Cobra Canyon. Highly recommend Gabby and Rock Odysseys for your visit to Zion. We will doing so in our next trip back! read more

Pros: -private trip -very new gear/shoes/gloves -Zach is super helpful/ patient/encouraging -tailored trip We signed up for a half day trip but wanted to do a bit of rock climbing and canyoneering. Zach was happy to do a trip with a mix of both which was great. We did about 2 climbs and 5 rappels in Kolob Terrace (about 30 min drive out of Zion Canyon). The view up top was beautiful and as it was a bit further out, there were less people (only a few other people climbing as well). Definitely a fun day activity to get away from the crowds :) read more

My husband and I decided last minute that we wanted to do some rock climbing on our last day in Zion. After calling all of the "big" companies in Springdale we finally found Rock Odyssey via Google and gave them a call. I first spoke to Zach who was super accommodating and was able to book us a half day trip with less than 24 hours notice. We were picked up by Chad and drove out to Kolab Terrace. Chad was super fun and was able to challenge us with some good climbs. Although I am bit terrified of heights, Chad definitely made me feel safe! My brother and I booked a morning canyoneering trip with Rock Odysseys last week for Lambs Knoll and it was an amazing experience. Heidi, the owner of the company, was a pleasure to talk to and very helpful with answering our questions prior to booking. My husband, our almost 5 year old daughter, and I booked a half day climbing trip with Rock Odysseys while we were visiting Zion on September 1. Our guide, Jake, met us and we rode with him to our starting point at Lambs Knoll. We were fitted with our helmets, harness, and climbing shoes and started our hike. During our 5 hour trip we climbed at two different spots, rappelled twice, and went canyoneering. Jake was amazingly patient and encouraging working with my energetic daughter who we affectionately call our "mountain goat." She loves to climb but this was her first experience real mountain climbing outdoors. He gave her the confidence to keep trying on her own and assisted her when she needed it. My husband and I also had plenty of opportunities to climb at our own pace. The scenery was absolutely gorgeous and we only saw a handful of other people the entire time we were there. We were only about 15 minutes away from Springdale where we were staying and it was a great alternative to a busy day hiking in Zion. I would highly recommend Rock Odysseys when visiting southern Utah. read more

My friend Cathy and I booked a last minute canyon day trip with Rock Odysseys. They were flexible with our arrival time and let us start an hour late (as we were driving from Las Vegas straight to Springdale), and took us a short 30 minute drive to Water Canyon. One--water canyon was so beautiful and remote, which I really enjoyed. Two--Allen and Ben were super friendly, talkative, curious, and nice! They made sure we understood all the safety precautions, shared snacks with us (we did too ;), and gave us all the good tips for rapelling properly. They took us on a beautiful hike up the canyon so we could to 4-5 rapels down back onto "ground level". We then hiked back out. This all took about 7-8 hours. I'd bring friends back again. read more
