He was patient and informative and a great conversationalist. We took a trip through Water Canyon. You walk up the canyon, then rappel down. I had a blast with Ethan on the multi-pitch climbing trip at Lamb's Knoll. It was my first multi-pitch and I learned a lot. Ethan was very knowledgeable and had a wealth of experience. He led me down 400 ft of repelling then back up 5 pitches. The last pitch was the highlight and the longest. This climb had it all: overhanging jugs, a crimpy dihedral section, a bit of a mantle getting to the fourth traverse pitch, a couple of slabby moves at the start, and a finish in a small chimney. Some prior repelling experience is required. I recommend this experience for the sport climber who is curious about multi-pitch climbing. The entire route is well protected with glue-in bolts. Ethan does a great job when it comes to safety, buddy checks, communication, and best practices. Amazing experience and an amazing guide! This four hour excursion was the highlight of our Zion vacation. Mark pick us us in a big comfortable SUV at our lodgings. He was friendly, knowledgeable, skilled, and professional. We really enjoyed our conversations. He made us feel very comfortable and safe which was a tall order since it was our first time repelling into canyons and we consider ourselves city folk. My sister and I are in our mid 50's. My sister is mildly physically active and I am moderately physically active. The hike up can be challenging due to the 6000 ft elevation. The views and amazing feeling while repelling mades the steep hikes all worth it. We managed to repel down six canyons, during this time, leveling up with each experience. We booked the afternoon half day Canyoneering trip during Thanksgiving week. Our guide, Marley met us at the Kolob road junction (15 minutes drive from Springdale) and we followed him up to Lambs Knoll (20 minutes drive). Marley had his mask on the entire time and followed covid protocols. We were fitted with helmets, harnesses when we got to the parking lot. We started our moderately easy hike to our first rappelling stop. Marley was very good with my young kids (ages 7, 9) and gave us some fun facts about the canyon. The kids had great interaction with him the entire time. During our 4 hour trip we climbed, rappelled 3-4x and walked through narrow crevices. We felt safe the entire time. There were other people rappelling but all at a safe distance. We really enjoyed the scenery. Will definitely do the tour with Rock Odysseys again! read more

My friend and I are not active people and he chose routes that were fairly challenging but doable. At one point, we rock climbed and did some scrambling - which honestly I was trying to avoid (hence why I booked just canyoneering/rappeling) but I'm very glad he pushed us to try because we wouldn't have seen some incredible views without some climbing. My two friends and I decided last minute that we wanted to end our Zion trip with a bang. We gave Rock Odysseys a ring and they were able to accommodate a half day trip for us 2 days prior. We were picked up by Zach (the owner) outside of Zion National Park and drove 30 minutes out to Kolab Terrace to start canyoneering! We've never done canyoneering before but expressed that we wanted to be adventurous and Zach tailored our request to exactly what we wanted and more. He provided harnesses, helmets, rope, and even a helmet for our GoPro. He was thorough in explaining safety instructions and was very attentive to us if we were shaky on some rappels. We all rappelled down the tallest rappel peak called the "Boyscout." This required us to do a little rocking climbing to get to the base where the views were amazing! We did a total of 6 technical rappels throughout the 5 hours we were out there, crawled through narrow cracks in the canyons and hiked up to gorgeous lookout points to rappel from. I highly recommend his company if you want to have a safe, fun and rewarding canyoneering experience. Zach is very friendly and is always making sure you're having a great time. Him and his team are very efficient and accommodating to your every needs. Next time I'm out there, I'm definitely going to do the Rock Climbing course with Rock Odysseys! read more

We were excited that our family's first visit to Zion would also include outdoor rock climbing as well as canyoneering. We regularly climb indoor at our gym, but our kids have never climbed outdoors or rappelled. We wanted this first experience for our 8 yo daughter and 11 yo son to be amazing - fun, challenging and worry-free. Based on her bio and reviews, we booked 2 days with Gabby, and couldn't be happier. Rock Odysseys is one of the few companies that has female guides, and we loved having Gabby as our guide! She is everything you want - knowledgeable, talented, experienced, friendly, safety conscious, and thoughtful. On our first day, she eased us into climbing with an easier slab climb, but then set up a range of climbs that were fun and challenging! On our second day, Gabby set up new routes (longer and more exposed) that were just right to make our Zion climbing experience unforgettable! And this was before canyoneering and rappelling! Our daughter was fairly nervous about rappelling, but Gabby made her feel safe and worry-free about anything happening. Gabby picked the perfect first rappel - by the end, our daughter thought rappelling "was awesome". My husband, our almost 5 year old daughter, and I booked a half day climbing trip with Rock Odysseys while we were visiting Zion on September 1. Our guide, Jake, met us and we rode with him to our starting point at Lambs Knoll. We were fitted with our helmets, harness, and climbing shoes and started our hike. During our 5 hour trip we climbed at two different spots, rappelled twice, and went canyoneering. Jake was amazingly patient and encouraging working with my energetic daughter who we affectionately call our "mountain goat." She loves to climb but this was her first experience real mountain climbing outdoors. He gave her the confidence to keep trying on her own and assisted her when she needed it. My husband and I also had plenty of opportunities to climb at our own pace. The scenery was absolutely gorgeous and we only saw a handful of other people the entire time we were there. They were flexible with our arrival time and let us start an hour late (as we were driving from Las Vegas straight to Springdale), and took us a short 30 minute drive to Water Canyon. One--water canyon was so beautiful and remote, which I really enjoyed. Two--Allen and Ben were super friendly, talkative, curious, and nice! They made sure we understood all the safety precautions, shared snacks with us (we did too ;), and gave us all the good tips for rapelling properly.
