Our family (two kids, ages 11 and 14) did the half-day Guide's Choice canyoneering trip in Ladder Canyon yesterday with Brett, and it was the highlight of our Utah trip -- and that's saying something given the competition. Brett was phenomenal. He made every one of us feel completely safe and confident through all the rappels (5 or 7, depending on who's counting -- we lost track because we were having too much fun). He struck that perfect balance of professional guide and enthusiastic local -- he clearly loves this place and knows it deeply, from the geology of the rocks to the broader mountaineering history of the area. That kind of knowledge just adds another layer to the whole experience. We drove over from our lodge to Easton Zion, and I'll be honest -- I wondered briefly if it was worth the extra time. She also figured out pretty quickly that we weren't exactly candidates for the next season of Survivor. Rather than pushing us beyond our limits, she set the perfect pace, made sure we were comfortable, and somehow got us to these breathtaking destinations without us seriously reconsidering our life insurance policies. As educators, what impressed us most was that this wasn't just a hike - it was an education. Jillian shared the fascinating history of the area, told some local legends, explained the incredible geology that shaped these landscapes, pointed out the local flora and fauna, and answered every random question we threw her way. Jillian recently took our group on a half day canyoneering and rappelling tour. From the moment we were picked up from our front porch until we safely returned home, I knew we were in for an exciting adventure. Breathtaking cannot begin to describe the views and nature we were surrounded in. I was impressed with Jillian's knowledge of the terrain and history of the area that she shared with us. She is friendly, kind, professional and above all clearly an expert guide concerned with our safety. We were lucky to actually have 2 guides on our tour as Darren was our photographer. Amazing adventure with Darren into Blue Pool Canyon! We had to pick the slot canyon based on the weather, as there was snow and rain all around the Kanab area. We were supposed to do Ladder Canyon, but had to switch it up due to the weather. Somehow the weather missed us by going to Blue Pool Canyon and the adventure was challenging, but fun for us all. We ended up in the Lake Powell Lake bed at the end of the canyoneering and got to scramble to the top of a large rock structure to get out of the lake bed. We all loved it and Darren was a great guide. Because of the versatility of this company, our tour wasn't cancelled due to weather, but we were given an opportunity to canyoneer in a canyon less travelled. Fantastic! read more

This was our second adventure with All Ways, and it was fantastic. Our first adventure was a half-day rappelling trip in a slot canyon and interacting with the All Ways team. That half-day trip was so fun we thought it would be great to hang out and backpack and canyoneer for a couple of days with this team, so we signed up for the Neon canyon trip ( 2 nights). What a great move that was. The owners, Jillian and Nathan, are lovely people and extremely knowledgeable. The logistics for this trip were superb and everything ran smoothly. Our guide, Darin was smart, friendly, made sure everyone was taken care of and kept us safe. The 2 solo participants on the trip were great people whose company we really enjoyed. The canyon approach along sandstone ledges allowed us to the view the mesas and forever in the distance and below the deep dark slot canyon that we would enter. The natural surroundings throughout the trip were the stuff of dreams, words nor pictures can really do it justice. The actual canyoneering in Neon canyon was a blast, even more than expected, and took some real physical exertion. Nathan and Nate were awesome guides for our morning canyoneering adventure. My husband, myself and our 12 year old son excitedly explored and rappelled down several of the orange colored rock canyons. Each rappel was slightly different than the next and we got to traverse through the twists and turns of the canyon walls in between. We were able to take our time to enjoy the surrounding beauty and even got a glimpse of a little Canyon Tree Frog hanging out nearby. Nathan and Nate showed our son some cool rock climbing techniques at the end and we capped off the morning with a very pretty hike back to the car. After a recommendation from a friend we called up All Ways Adventure for a "canyoneering" experience. My hubby had repelled in scouts when he was young (30years ago) and I had never been. Nathan took us out and created the perfect day for our skill level and adventuresome spirit! He took us to a local slot canyon where we repelled, did some rock climbing, exploring, and squeezing through super narrow slots in the canyon walls! Nathan was on time, easy to talk to, supportive, didn't rush me (I was a little scared), gave loads of info and tips. We immediately felt very safe (my number one concern) as Nathan was really a pro. We had an amazing day! We finished a tad bit early and Nathan asked us if we were up for a little more exploring. He drove us off-road which was super fun to another canyon nearby to see some ancient petroglyphs! It was really an amazing day. One downside though, I didn't know to request that his dog join us! Jillian was exceptionally accommodating. She was able to schedule a canyoneering expedition for my mom and I on short notice, guide us through a local slot canyon just outside of Kanab, and teach us about the sport and the environment. My mom and I had never canyoneered before and as such Jillian explained the methodology slowly and clearly. My mom was nervous and unsure at first, but Jillian coached her through the first couple of repels until she became comfortable. By the end of it, my mom had complete confidence and wanted to go for a second round! We all had a blast and a lot of laughs!
