We had an awesome time for my birthday week hiking Angel's landing with Scott. He shared the history about the park and pointed out hidden gems along the way. Scott took his time with me since I'm not an active hiker and made it easy. I wished I would had booked the narrows as my second tour with Zion and guide hub. They do offer a discount if you do more than one tours with them. I will definitely be using their services next time we visit. Fun fact! Hector was our guide today for a 5-ish Mile hike with repelling in four locations, canyoneering and at times waist deep water. Absolutely awesome! 10/10! Hector was responsible, safety-conscious, friendly, and knew his stuff! We felt safe and informed always, and he was a good sport about stopping to let us take pictures. We did two hikes with these guys. In short, they were great. Here's the deal. Tour 1: Tour through the narrows with Mark. Started early to beat the crowd which was effective and worth the 6 am alarm clock. Mark was a cool guy. The hike was totally customized for us and our level of activity. Shari V is pregnant so Mark made some suggestions to make the day easier and still get a lot accomplished. Tour 2: Full day of hiking with Grant. Also, super cool guy. Grant was extremely knowledgeable about just about everything. We did a hike. In theory, me and Shari V could have done the same hike on our own but we felt like Grant was a major value add. He had tons of interesting and colorful commentary on everything from history to geology. And same as Mark, he rolled with our punches and customized the tour based on our energy level and ability. We had a ton of fun with both of these guys. My only knock on Zion Guide Hub was on our first day, when we showed up a 7 am, it felt unorganized. Shop was barely open. There was a slightly older woman who kept asking who we were and whether we were taking the shuttle. The encounter made it seem like Zion Guide Hub didn't know who was who or who belonged where. In the end, everyone ended up in the right spot, but certainly, the check in process and initial engagement could use some polishing. Our tour guides were great. I'd repeat with either one. Mark and Grant both gave us safe, fun and informative tours. read more

We just finished our mountain biking trip with Mike and it was awesome! Both my husband and I had not really ever mountain biked and were a little nervous, but he was very patient and took it at a good pace for us. We had a fabulous half day hike with our guide Mike! He was very knowledgeable and created a perfect itinerary for our family of five ranging from 5 years old to 43. Just enough adventure to keep the adults excited and plenty for the kids while still keeping safety first. My wife and I booked a mountain biking tour with ZGH and couldn't be more pleased. Our guide Mike was super friendly and knowledgeable, and was sure to explain certain aspects of the ride or certain skills before we got there to set us up for success. He was also great to keep it the ride at our pace and made sure we were riding at our appropriate levels. The trail was the best that I've ever done on a mountain bike! Our guide, Steve, was wonderful. He took us to Water Canyon for the day. He was engaging, and he was a wealth of information. The only regret I have is that we went to Water Canyon with a seven-year-old. Not that seven-year-olds can't do it, but we're talking a minimum 45 minute drive to the trail head, and then another 45 minute hike to where the canyoneering begins. Best case scenario: 90 minutes before you even get on your first rope. And our family was definitely not the best case scenario. The hike up to the spot where we started, which wasn't even the top, was not exactly easy. I wouldn't call it totally strenuous either, but it definitely was an invigorating hike in for a little kid. And our family was definitely not the best case scenario. I'm just not sure Water Canyon was the best choice for families with little kids. There are other canyoneering spots in the area that are better suited, I'm sure, and you won't be spending the balance of your time traveling or hiking. We did end up spending the entire day with Steve, so it was definitely a full day's excursion. It just wasn't a full day of canyoneering, which is effectively what you're paying for. That being said, Steve handled our son, who has autism, incredibly well. He was definitely a high maintenance client on this trip, and it required Steve doing a couple tandem rappels with him. So all in all, we only got 2 1/2 rappels in, and for a full day's excursion at a full day's price, I can't help but be a little disappointed. But given the circumstance, I'm not sure there's anything else Steve could've done. Either way, I would recommend him to anyone. As for the company itself, it seems to be a pretty popular Guide company to go with. There were three other groups with us in Water Canyon, which also affected how many rappels we could do in the end (it was basically Zion's version of rush-hour traffic). So if I were to do it again, I would ask my guide what the chances were that we would run into other groups, and also what our choices were before we took off. You're paying a good sum of money to do this, so you ought to have some say as to where you're going to go. Ultimately, you know your family best, so it makes sense that they would elicit your input and you could decide as a group what might be the best option. If you think about it, 90 minutes of travel and 90 minutes of hiking makes for three hours without any rappeling. Then figure in at least 45 minutes of coaching on the first rappel, and you'll be lucky to get 4-5 rappels in at Water Canyon in a day. read more
