From the outside, it's easy to underestimate what awaits inside. I probably would have walked right past it had we not decided to stop in. The moment I stepped through the door, I was immediately impressed by the beautiful artwork, warm décor, and inviting atmosphere. It truly feels like one of Brooklyn's neighborhood gems. The restaurant offers several seating options, including indoor dining, an outdoor patio, and a beautifully landscaped terrace tucked beneath mature trees. We chose the back terrace, and it turned out to be one of my favorite parts of the experience. With two levels and plenty of natural shade, it felt like a peaceful escape from the city while still being full of energy. Our server was friendly, attentive, and happy to answer our questions about the menu, making it easy to decide what to order. We all decided to try one of Cheryl's signature bowls and ordered the Herb Grilled Chicken Bowl, Coconut Curry Wings Bowl, and Moroccan-Spiced Vegetable Tagine Bowl. Every dish was flavorful, fresh, and thoughtfully prepared. The portions were generous enough that none of us finished our meals, which meant we had an equally delicious lunch waiting for us the next day. What I appreciated most was that Cheryl's delivers more than great food. Between the welcoming service, relaxing outdoor terrace, beautiful aesthetics, and diverse menu, the restaurant creates an experience that encourages you to slow down and enjoy your meal. If you're exploring Brooklyn or planning a visit to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Cheryl's Global Soul is well worth adding to your itinerary. It's the kind of neighborhood restaurant you'll be glad you discovered.

Sage recommended ginger tea, which was delicious. Sage was also very attentive to our needs and I appreciated the warm syrup that was paired with my warm pancake pancakes. (It's a pet peeve of mine when restaurants serve hot pancakes with cold butter and cold syrup, so I appreciated it the extra effort.) The staff are very friendly and attentive. Cheryl's is an absolute favorite and I hope to make it there one day for dinner as I've only gone for brunch.

The food was delicious, I will definitely return. There was no line to order when I arrived, but we were directed to order at a kiosk since they were short staffed up front. The young man at the counter was very busy but kind and I could see the workers in the kitchen working hard as well. The ambiance was typical for a fast casual restaurant. Some people grabbing takeout orders, delivery app workers doing pickups, and dine in patrons at tables. There were seating options for couples as well as groups. I definitely do recommend and will return next time I'm in the area.

( I also ordered tea) I tried again with some friends. Today was the first time I've been inside and actually sat down. Once you order, they ask for your name and then serve your table by calling your name. It's cute. As for the food... I ordered the fried chicken with potato salad, dressing and cornbread and peach cobbler. My chicken looked good, but tasted a little dry. Maybe it was just being under a light for a bit. I visited in the evening. Who knows? My potato salad was a bit bland, and I was hoping for some pickle relish mixed in. (If you know, you know.) I'm not a fan of cobbler, but I thought I'd give it a shot. They also had apple cobbler, which I should have stuck with. I can't tell you how the cornbread dressing was. When I got home they forgot to pack it. I don't think I'll be back, but it's a nice place to sit and chat with others while they enjoy their meals.

I've had Krupa Grocery bookmarked for some time and as I explore different Brooklyn neighborhoods, one can add KG as a gem in Windsor Terrace. When I think of gems I think of the neighborhood eateries I depend on for consistency in service, ambience and food. KG now sits alongside Hilltop Tavern as my go to for this area. The welcoming interior with its long bar, soft lighting and a menu that offers creative comfort options, one knows this will be an experience to savor. I chose the backyard patio to dine in a beautiful sunny spring day. There were numerous delicious options to choose from: shrimp or lamb burger, lemon ricotta pancakes, grilled cheese, soup and salads. I asked David, my server, what I should eat. "The breakfast gnocchi is a must". I ordered that and wow, what a delicious dish. My dish arrived and loved the presentation: two Sunnyside eggs covering the gnocchi, bacon bites, black kale in a squash sauce. It looked and tasted amazing. I ordered a side of toast to sop up the sauce. I highly recommend this dish. It hit the spot before my pre- Brooklyn Botanic Garden visit. There is a daily Happy Hour Monday through Thursday from 4-6 pm, brunch all day and there are special events. I will be back with a bigger appetite to try that shrimp burger and soup. If you haven't bookmarked KG, do so. **ahh you noticed.. "Krupa Grocery in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn gets its name as a direct homage to the beloved mom-and-pop grocery and newsstand that previously occupied the exact same storefront for years." Love this! I'm not much of a beer drinker, but I tried their "Smokey" wine (not to be confused with the Smokey Bloody Mary), and it was sooo good -- light, refreshing, and unique. Over the years I've had the Eggs Benedict, Country Toast, the Basic B, arugula salad, and several of their meat dishes, and everything has consistently been flavorful and satisfying. I honestly wish I lived closer because I would come here all the time. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the family-style seating since some guests can be a bit loud or inconsiderate, but I really love the picnic tables in the back. They make for such a relaxing and refreshing atmosphere, especially on a beautiful spring or summer day.

Fortunately, not too far away was Little Purity. I had walked by Little Purity many times in the past, but the crowds that would be waiting outside always dissuaded me. Finally about a year ago I went for the first time, and now whenever I go to Park Slope during the early hours Little Purity is my go to spot. Located on the corner of 7th Avenue and 12 Street, a red, eye catching awning welcomes you as you step inside. There is an old fashioned counter (with seating) to the right and booths to the left. In the middle are regular tables and chairs. The rest room is towards the back and to the left. I usually wind up going to this diner in the early morning hours so it is not very packed (ex: before 9:30am on Sundays). However, once 10am passes that's when the waiting outside begins. The staff at Little Purity is fantastic. The owners are always welcoming and chat you up just the right amount to make you feel at home while not being intrusive. Service is always on point and quick, even during their busier hours. I typically have egg-based dishes. Whether it is an omelette with cheese and veggies or eggs over easy, I have enjoyed everything I've had here. I also really appreciate the option of having a small cup of oatmeal in place of home fries. Even better? They'll provide a serving of hot sauce and home made jam at your request and you can use the jam in the oatmeal and your toast while the hot sauce is fantastic on eggs. Little Purity is the kind of third space most neighborhoods need, and I'm so glad it continues to serve the community. Check it out!
