I used to patronize this Jamaican restaurant for small items like hot cereal, patties, cakes and, occasionally hot food. However, the food quality dropped. I began noticing they would store their food improperly like cooked rice and meat inside plastic bags which is unsafe. So, since then I passed on ordering that. Then came to the hot cereal. One time I ate their corn meal cereal which was my fave and tasted a huge amount of salt, where someone used salt instead of sugar. So I stop ordering that. That was a big disappointment then the cakes was my last choice of buying for a snack here and there. My last visit there I saw the restaurant Bread and other baked goods was scarce and whatever baked good around looked old and dried. I ask a worker if the cake were old as well and received an offended response like I was insulting them and the quality of their food. Long story shortened I took their word and purchased the cake to find out it was molding. I returned back and didn't create a more of reason to complain and was offered another cake in replacement. I instantly refused and the person who served me looked at the molded product with a frowning disgusting expression on her face as if she tasted the damn cake herself. She quietly gave me back my money and right there I made a decision that I would not return here again. I like the owner Mrs. Delores and wanted to support a business of color but I can't no longer do that. From the looks of the restaurant ambiance it looks like they are going out of business soon.I should have listen to my gut and walked away. Small corner bakery that features all the main items you would expect from a Jamaican place. Their baked goods looked very fresh and tasty but I came here for mainly for the patties. They make them daily and there were a few choices besides beef- there's chicken, breadfruit, fish, veggie. Everything ranges from 3-4 dollars and coco bread is only a dollar a piece. The workers were very kind and patient while I put my order in and packed it well. Now the crust was flakey yet soft and flavorful for both the chicken and beef patties I had. However the filling was under seasoned. There wasn't enough spices or even salt in either patty. I'm not sure if this was an off batch but after I added some seasoning to the patty it became plenty tasty. I'm still searching for a replacement for my beloved Jamaican pride bakery but this place can be satisfying in its own way. read more

Everything we tried was very good and fresh! The young woman who helped us was very sweet and patient as we asked a few questions. Thanks to Yelp, I knew going in that they are known for their beef patty, salmon patty, and coconut roll. I'm not sure how this restaurant has the high reviews it has. I ordered two jerk chicken plates with black eyed peas, sweet plantains, escovitch fish, and a few baked goods. The "jerk chicken" is the worst I've ever had. The fish was covered in soggy white onions and wrapped in a foil. The rice and peas were bland and dry. I was actually shocked they would serve this in Flatbush and get away with it. We couldn't eat it. Lesson learned. Never ordering here again. read more

Crazy questions that yelp was asking me about this place. They know this spot is a bakery right? Street parking in a busy neighborhood. I got 1 veggie patty, 1 chicken patty and 2 fish patties. Everything is clearly freshly made. I never had fresh homemade patties like this. The chicken patty had real pull apart chicken in it. The veggie patty you can see what the vegetables really are. I also added a small lemonade once I hear someone else order one. You do need to wear your mask inside. Its a pickup place there is no eating in there from what I saw. But we love the food so far. So many cakes and pastries I have to try to let you know. For the price this should be you go to place and for the freshness this needs to be your go to spot. I don't think its a need to check out another patty place but I have to make sure. Bought a fish soup that was half oil half water which tasted like water. I called to inform them that the soup was watery & no good & the woman who answered just said I'm sorry. I always get the curry goat and oxtail - always get the large as well which lasts me plenty of meals. The patties are delicious and flaky - I've tried the chicken, beef, and most recently the fish which I thought was the best out of the 3! A few weeks ago I was in the neighborhood looking at apartments. After seeing a place I really liked, I asked the real estate agent where I could get something to eat. After he rattle off a few generic options I stopped him and said I wanted jerk chicken. Yes, jerk mother fucking chicken. I love jerk chicken, I never get to have it, and I knew there were a lot of options in the neighborhood. Enter Errol's. It was only 5 blocks away and is situated right on a corner. It's a bakery but it makes a variety of West Indian food. After talking politics a bit with the guy behind the counter and grabbing a small jerk chicken platter for like $6, I headed out and ate everything on the subway ride home. Don't hate. The jerk chicken was pretty damn addictive. First off the sauce was on the side which made eating neater and also controlled the spice level. It was a bit heavy on the vinegar but also flavorful and very hot. The chicken quality was decent and I got plenty of skin which is *always* a good thing. They chopped up the bird, breaking the bones which I'm not crazy about, but most take out places do that. The rice, plantains, and veggies were all great. This wasn't fancy eating, but it was a great homestyle meal that was well worth the price and was needed at the time. If I end up nearby I'll be a regular. Sure I'd check out the other places nearby, but this seems reliable given the regulars I saw come in. Besides, who doesn't like talking politics pre-meal? It wets the appetitite! read more

Yes, the pastries are good. Pretty darn good. I didn't order it but that dark potato pudding pie slices looked good. I bit into the coconut roll and it was flaky good. It was thick and I felt each layer of crisp dough, soft, lightly sweat and flavorful. The coconut was lightly present but I loved the caramelized bottom. Man, that pastry was tasty. And it was priced right. I order some other pastries I didn't get to taste yet because they are still in the fridge. Right on leaving I ate the Jamaican beef patty as a little snack or extra from my main meal. I thought that Jamaican beef patty was okay. The dough was soft and very mellow in taste, meaning a bland dough, not so crispy. The inside was just mush beef, not much flavor. Forget the patties, go for the baked goods, those are very good. Inside is an ATM and two stools facing the way, not much of a dining place. Order and go but truly recommended for price and great tasting pastries. Cool staff/dude taking my order. Friendly service with your surrogate Caribbean grandma dishing up treats from behind the counter. Everything we tried here was tasty. A stand out was the salted cod with onion (caution- there were a few small bones and the edges could be a bit dry/tough.) But for $2, this spiced fish was definitely worth it. Also worth a try are the coconut desserts. $1.50 for the coconut drop with chunks of coconut & sugar mixed together. Possibly even better was the cookie base topped with shredded coconut. The mixed drinks were good too. Wish this place was closer to my 'hood! Actually it's probably a good thing I'm not plundering the kitchen on a regular basis. I'm disappointed in you guys. This past Sunday night I purchased a small jerk wings plate for my girlfriend and she said it wasn't tasting like ERROL's it tasted old. Fast forward to Monday morning my girlfriend came to the shop to buy two hard dough breads that turned out to be not fresh hard in the middle plus one of the cheeses had mold on it but on the bright side the currant rolls were good. ‍‍ come on I know y'all are WAY better than that.
