Old-school quality customer care. Roberts has been so generous in helping me properly care for a wooden hot tub in our new house. We moved here about a year ago and were excited by the the wooden hot tub that came with the house. They saved us from using the wrong products and helped me understand how to clean it properly. Yesterday, when I asked Benny about energy usage, he gave me a couple of helpful tips. I do not recommend doing business with this company. They have breached a fully-paid purchase agreement by failing to deliver my hot tub. My hot tub installer purchased and paid over $11K, including $800 in shipping, for one of their wooden tubs. I live on a street in LA that cannot accommodate delivery trucks over 24' but that does accommodate garbage trucks, fire engines, UPS trucks and box trucks up to 22' in length. Roberts Hot Tubs's chosen delivery service apparently doesn't have a truck that small and Roberts Hot Tubs is refusing to honor the "curbside delivery" that is specified in writing on the fully paid invoice. "Curbside delivery" was the only delivery condition or requirement specified. Instead of honoring their obligation, Roberts is requiring my installer to arrange pick-up of the tub (approximately 500 lbs) from their contracted delivery service and perform the "curbside delivery" to my house at his expense. This is a breach of contract, pure and simple. I phoned and spoke with Shirley who refused to acknowledge Robert's responsibility to actually deliver the tub for which they were paid in-full. She refused to let me speak with the owner Benny and after she hung up on me, she then refused to even answer my subsequent phone calls. Wow. Who know what other problems await. I can only imagine how they handle warranty claims. Consider carefully if this is the kind of company you trust with an $11,000 purchase. read more

With all the supply chain issues, we ended up waiting 8 months from order and "ahhhhhhh" (install and soaking!) It was worth it. Benny guided us the whole way, prepared us for the delay, and delivered quality product. It's only been 2 weeks since install, but I don't regret a thing. We love our hot tub. Though it took a long time (supply chain, not within their control), we finally managed to get everything set up and it's as good as anything we ever hoped for. The tub is beautiful, well-made, it smells amazing, and Benny and the rest of the staff has been super helpful with all of our newbie questions. The process of assembling the tub ourselves was quite challenging, so we ended up calling them and getting them to come out to help us with it. I started to order my hot tub cover in December 2022. But after talking to the agent, there was no way to control the delivery date (4-6 weeks) and since I had a vacation during the holiday around week #5, I waited to order when I got back from my trip. At that time, I was told to expect 4-6 weeks for delivery. Web site also says this too (see photo.) The actual delivery time appears to be 8+ weeks. No one notified me of delays. In checking the status, it is "processing" - indicates that order cannot be changed as it is already done but no info on shipping status. I called and they said it would be shipped Feb 15 and shipping can take 10 days, so end of February. I probably would have ordered from a different website had I known it would take the entire winter to get delivered. Or I would have ordered in December and would not have been worrying about delivery occuring in 4-5 weeks. I cannot comment on the actual quality of the product since it will not be arriving for several more weeks. read more

If you want a REALLY nice hot tub, this is the place to go. Keep in mind that it will also be REALLY expensive, but in my opinion it is so worth it. We sunk our yellow cedar round hot tub into a floating deck and it looks fantastic. You should also splurge for the matching wood cover because it will add just that much more class. Also, it smells so good while you are in it! Simply the best and most relaxing thing I have done for my yard. In terms of building and setting it up, that is the hard part. I would suggest you have them build the equipment for you and also have a handyman or contractor build the tub. It is not an easy thing. For great customer service, talk to Benny. He is seriously the best! He helped us figure out the best tub for our budget and desires, and doesn't mind that we keep calling and emailing him about fixing leaks (these go away when the wood swells), setting up the tub temp and timer, and how to treat the water. Awful, unbelievably terrible, rude, disaffected customer service. Put in an order for a custom cover on 1/21. Confirmed receipt on 1/31. 2/3, the CAD contractor reaches out to go over dimensions. She asks questions using technical terms as if I know what goes into designing a round hot tub cover. I answer questions, she answers none of mine. A week later, the order is submitted for fabrication. I call and ask customer service, how long does it take. Average is 6 weeks. Great. Might have some delays "in shipping" due to Covid. Of course, understandable. After 6 weeks, I call and leave a message with my order number with whoever answered the phone, "Hi, just checking to see when the cover will be delivered." I do this because I have several dates where I will be out of town. I tell that to this person. She'll check and get back to me. No reply. By email 2 weeks after that call: Your cover will be delivered end of March, first week of April (that's 11 weeks). Oh, no- I won't be home then. What can we do? Please delay the shipment a week. No, sorry, not our problem. Not your problem? What happens to the cover if I'm not home? We said, and we'll say it clearer- Not.Our. Problem. Here are the rules, read the rules that say we have zero responsibility of making sure your receive your product. Please, come on. There's got be a better way? You're very delayed as it is. A wood hot tub is the only way to go! After researching online I purchased a Robert's 6' x 4' Round Alaskan Yellow Cedar hot tub. In addition to the Pentair heater and pump equipment I added the rim deck and cladding. My initial contact at Robert's was with Theresa who was my salesperson. She was very knowledgeable, professional and followed up quickly - she was a pleasure to work with. Theresa recommended two installers for the installation and I chose Alex, owner of Green Innovations. All I can say after watching Alex assemble the tub, heater, pump, piping and other components is - unless you're a professional contractor, don't try this on your own. The tub was installed at our home that's being remodeled. Alex coordinated very well with our contractor and did a beautiful job with the install. He was on time, on budget and was a pleasure to work with. The quality of the tub itself is amazing, the craftsmanship is incredible and the wood is beautiful. The wood is thick, clear and has no defects. The milling is precise and all the pieces fit together with no gaps or alignment issues. The rim deck and cladding cover the piping and creates a nice seat bench that aids in getting in and out of the tub. The wood will turn grey over time. You can find cheaper tubs online but the quality of the build and materials are not on par with a Robert's tub. A fiberglass hot tub can't compare with the aesthetics and experience of a wood hot tub. The "wow" factor when people see it is great. The only issue we had was with the pump controller that works through a web site. Robert's and Alex worked together to quickly remedy the problem, it was due to a metal fence that was impairing the WiFi signal. This was an investment but we are really enjoying the hot tub and it's a focal point in our backyard. read more

Frenche 11/21/2019 I have been buying tub covers from this company since 1995, I have purchased at least 5 covers and the ordering process was smooth and there was never a error. I recently ordered a tub cover and submitted my measurements which was not hard the tub is square 82x82 and I order 6" radius corners. Now how tough is that to understand. Not very. I then get a text message from Alisha F. requesting that I OK a cad drawing made in production, I explain to here nothing came through on this side for a drawing. I tell her, not seeing her design. I approved the design that you sent me which is the design and measurements I sent you. I figure she has my measurements and from the information I sent in. How can any thing get messed up. WRONG I was sent a tub cover with two different corner edges, two a 90 degree and two a three sided hexagon. How can someone get something so simple so wrong. This company use to be a go to company for quality but it has gone down hill quite a bit. Its sad, the customer service use to be outstanding you can say good bye to that. With the ease of information today I would suggest anyone looking for a tub cover look elsewhere because this place no longer takes responsibility for there actions. Customer service is NOT what it used to be. Bill used to answer questions promptly, but is no longer there. Now you deal with Andrew. Andrew promises to call back, but does not, is condescending, and will give you answers that make his life easier, not yours. The heater system for my tub is electric. It uses a pressure switch to turn off. The pressure switch flips on and off, causing the heater to sound like it is going to beat itself to death, forcing me to turn it off when not in use. I don't know why the system did not run electrically in tandem with the pump, but that's the system. It has caused me nothing but problems. The PVC pipe that shipped with my tub was old and cracked when it was cut, causing numerous leaks. I had to replace numerous sections. The cedar tub is attractive and stopped leaking a few days after it was filled. Sadly, all the issues I'm having with the system prevent me from recommending it to anyone. If you do buy the tub from Robert's, get yoru plumbing elsewhere. read more

Set aside that the product is fantastic, instruction and availability and responsiveness of help is the BEST I have experienced, FIVE stars is not enough to express the respect I have for the folks at Roberts Hot Tubs. Shipping across the US (CA to NY), modifications to the system throughout the years (to connect to my home computer automation system), RHTubs has always been there for me. A seven day power outage during single digit temperatures caused a problem for my installation, but this also allowed me to experience the expedited delivery of replacement parts, follow-up calls to check on my hot tub's health... - Ask me if you want more glowing remarks. The other reviewers are correct, Robert's Hot Tubs has a very high end product - and a very high end price. I doubt if you could find a more expensive tub, and you have to build it yourself. I went into their plant to order a tub in person so that would be no confusion on exactly what I wanted. I was told two weeks if I ordered a standard tub instead of the thicker timber tub. I changed my order the next day on the phone and expected delivery in about two weeks. I was over a month and I called. I was told it would be another three weeks - I said I wanted to cancel the order and was told to call back on Monday and cancel with the accountant. The accountant doesn't even work at the Richmond facility - she is down in Southern California with the Owner. Amazingly on Monday they said my tub was ready to ship. A long story cut short, I was not treated well - I was not sent what I ordered - I was obligated to pay additional monies for the difference between what I ordered in person and what I received. If you want a very high end traditional hot tub and would like to build it yourself - and are very handy with building things out of wood, this is the tub for you. Don't plan on lots of help or customer care. They just want to sell tubs. read more

I got a small oval tub installed this summer and I am really happy with it and with the sales process, service and followup. Paul was very patient in the sales process with my several visits and emails. I am glad he recommended yellow cedar over red, love the setup with copper ionizer and he also gave me good advice about which heater to use. He gave me a temporary top and then, after it has expanded, he replaces it with permanent cover. I had mine assembled at the plant (small, fit into a pickup truck) and I used an installer that Paul recommended near Tahoe to get it setup. That guy operates on his own schedule, but knows his stuff. I also had an electrician run 220, so it was a big project all in all. read more

I purchased a $400+ hot tub cover, upon delivery the box looked dirty and was a little scuffed but that must have been hiding the puncture. When I opened it up there was a fork lift sized hole on the underside of the cover. And when I called Roberts to complain, their response was that it was my fault for not doing a better inspection of the package & I have no claim : ( Insult to injury, a few months later one side developed a concave and now pools water, I'm sure the other side is close behind. Roberts sells a nice product - but they mislead you on the ease of installation. My wife and I purchased a cedar tub full kit and we were led to believe that any general contractor could easily set the tub up in a day, with no prior experience. This simply isn't true. Our tub has been set up for almost 2 months now, and still doesn't work because our electrician who has no prior experience with this type of job wasn't able to properly hook it up. I've been in contact with 2 hot tub specialist ( one through Roberts) and because they are so busy, I can't get either of them to come out and fix our tub. My main point of writing this is to let you know that you should find a HOT TUB SPECIALIST to commit to doing the install because the kit features parts from 3 separate companies, with 3 sets of directions, none of which are clear... and there is not support that will help with all of them. read more

We have purchased a custom-made hot tub roll cover from Roberts Hot Tubs which turned out to be the worst purchase we have made! The company advertises their product to be "long-lasting", "highest quality", but most importantly, "impervious to sun and water absorption". That is why we decided to purchase this product, as we were looking for a cover that would last longer than a regular hot tub cover. In addition, they offer a Roll Cover 7-year Limited Warranty that states: "Cover will not absorb water is excess of 10% of the total weight of the cover for 7 years". All of this sounded promising to us so we ordered our custom-made cover. We paid $795 for it in belief to finally have a good quality product that will last a long time, as promised. After a few months of use, we started to notice a lot of cracks (breaks) in the insulating foam along the entire length of the cover, and on every fold. This resulted in the water being absorbed by the cracks into the foam which causes the foam to break, making the cover quite useless. We took a few photos of the defects and emailed them to Roberts Hot Tubs asking for a solution. Just to make a very long story short, we have not been able to get any help from this company other than asking us to ship the cover back to them for additional $152 for a repair! At this point, we realized that we were simply misled by the company falsely advertising this product on their website. We have paid almost $800 for this cover, expecting it to last a lot longer than a regular cover. Had we known that this product would only last about a year, we would have never purchased it. The issue is that we, as a consumer, were misled by the company, deceptively marketing the product as "long-lasting" and "impervious to sun and water absorption". The cover is not impervious and doesn't meet the product quality commitment advertised on the website. I would NEVER recommend Roberts Hot Tubs to anyone. Just as another review stated, don't expect to be treated well, get any help, or a professional customer care. The outer cover was not sewn properly and allowed water to infiltrate into the inner polystyrene core rendering the cover useless. The company refuses to reply to any of my warranty inquires stating that the "owner" or "manager" will not get back to them. It has now been 3+ weeks with this continued response and no end in sight. Lucky for me, I only live 10 miles away so I was able to pick it up. The only difficult part on my end was having to take my own measurements. However, after speaking to Tiffany, she assured me that I would get a CAD drawing and I could confirm the numbers again before approving the final measurements and color. Once I approved the CAD, our journey began. As promised,the cover was ready on time. The color was perfect. The fit was perfect. We love our new cover and are very pleased with the quality. Bought a roll up hot tub cover last year. I have had several boards warp. I contacted the company and they said they would send new boards. They arrived and I had to replace myself. This involves drilling out all of the fasteners and replacing the boards and pounding in all new fasteners (not a quick task). After replacing several boards I noticed the replacement boards were larger than the original. I emailed to tell them the board size was wrong and one had warped after I replaced it. I finally got a response. They asked me to measure the original boards 2-5/8". I put this in an email along with a picture of my tape measure on the board. Today, I received new replacement boards. I went to install one and they sent me 3" like before. You cannot fix stupid. I also am not happy doing my own warranty on something I bought and paid for st year. I gave them ample time to get it shipped and didn't want to raise a scene but when 4 weeks passed with no shipment, I sent an email to customer service. It took them 5 days to respond to my email and they simply told me it was now sent and UPS should have sent me an email. It is now December 2 and I'm awaiting its arrival. I did get an email from UPS 3 days after my email to customer service; its clear my cover was not sent until I reached out. There was no explanation, no apology, no reasoning for why they took my money but never sent me a product....the service is as bad as it gets. Roberts does indeed make a fine wooden tub--apparently one of the few available these days. (Thus these two stars.) But their customer service, in my experience, is abominable. Once they sold us our system, it suffered one problem after another. And despite our repeated pleas for help, the current owner (Andrew) took no responsibility for making the system work. This matters because the Roberts hot-tub system is a conglomeration of machinery made by about a half dozen different manufacturers. So without help from the company that sold you all these components (i.e., Roberts), one is left pleading individually with each of these suppliers, and with your installation contractor, all of whom will look for any opportunity to pass problems off on one another. Ergo, my suggestion: Before completing your purchase from Roberts, get their commitment -- in writing -- to make sure the system is in full working order within the first 60 days of installation, or at least before your one-year warranty period expires. And, in general, be wary of the components from Pentair (which makes the main heater and the pump). Our biggest problems were with these parts, and in the course of our research we learned that their hot-tub heaters have not been upgraded in years, and are generally considered within the spa industry to be of mediocre quality. read more
