Buying a spa was a bit of a learning and daunting experience for us, but the team here including Angela, Michelle, Jesse, Alex and Fred were simply old school customer service. Angela guided us through the selection process with a ton of patience and expert advice. Michelle helped us with some financial concerns. She was professional and articulate in explaining the benefits of doing business with her company. Jesse was outstanding coming out to our home and going through the options of maneuvering the spa from driveway to back patio, and is coming out again tomorrow to go through the spa sanitizing process. Alex did a quick turn around with his schedule so that he could take down a portion of our fence prior to delivery and then a day later come back and reinstall the fence panel afterwards. Finally, their electrician Fred came out to our house twice prior to doing the required electrical to discuss best case wiring option, and then again when we reconsidered which option to take. We spent about $20K on a new Highlife HotSpring spa from Creative Energy, installed in early 2024. Part of the selling point was the "awesome" warranty that was pitched as part of the sale. If you buy from Creative Energy, they are your dealer and they are your only source of warranty service if you live in the area. You are stuck with them, for better or worse. We have been meticulous about maintaining our tub. Well, as of now, we've had three issues with the tub, one with a drain valve cap not securing properly causing a leak, someone from the sales team coming with a new one, cranking it on as hard as they could to the point we could no longer remove it, not being able to stop the leak. So a technician, who was about as unfriendly and accusatory as it gets, comes out and gets the cap off and secures it properly. Frankly, it should not take a technician to get a screw-on cap on correctly. Of course, the technician tells us that it isn't a warranty issue. We then subsequently get a bill for a $150+ for a service visit, which was not communicated to us before said technician came. We complained and they did waive it as a "one-time courtesy". Courtesy for what? Their own sales representative who plays with their tubs every day not being able to fix what their nasty technician said was an "easy" problem to solve? Not too easy, obviously. Two issues already this year (2026). Our tub cover started to fray prematurely to the point that rainwater was getting into the tub and causing overfill. So we were heating more water than design and having to constantly pump water out. Fortunately, we were just inside the two-year warranty period for the cover (NOTE DIFFERENT PARTS HAVE DIFFERENT WARRANTIES). Unfortunately, Creative Energy does not stock covers (or at least the one we needed) and the replacement had to be made-to-order, which meant a many weeks wait. The real fun began when they told us that we had the option to come pick the hot tub cover up from them once it was actually ready, install it ourselves, and dispose of the old one ourselves or pay them a more than $225 or to deliver it, install it, and haul off the old one, for a warranty item! Most people don't have pickup trucks that can hold a 5-person tub cover (we don't!) and disposal would have cost us significant money to deal with it. It also would take us time to install the cover and who knows if we would be doing it right. I asked how much the cover itself ran and was told it was about an $800 part. So, for a warranty issue, we were asked to pay 25%+ to have it properly dealt with. After wasting time to complain again, Creative Energy did knock the fee down to $150, which still just seemed ridiculous. We were at their mercy though and had to pay it. The rationale they gave is that the manufacturer doesn't cover disposal or delivery/installation of a warranty replacement. Now we're at about a few weeks ago now, where I notice the tub is suddenly slowly leaking from its bottom (again tub is still under the "awesome" warranty). This time, it's a $159 charge just to get someone to come. Well, technician comes out the next day, with both my wife's phone number and my phone number in hand. Despite my request, the technician does not call me to let me know what he found despite my asking him to do so. I've never had a technician for anything leave me hanging like that. I hear back from Creative the next day that he can't find the source of the leak, and recommends that the entire tub be carted back to the shop for further investigation. Of course, that immediately prompts questions how is this going to work with the electrical work (not covered with the purchase) that I had do to get the tub wired, would I have to deliver the tub?, etc. Well, this person tells me that some other person will get back to me the next day because that was a different department. Of course, though, they're happy to send me the invoice for the service fee. Well, next day they don't believe their own technician and decide to send their service manager out for another look, but not until nearly two weeks later, all while the tub continues to leak. They did waive the $159 when the service manager told me that the previous technician basically did nothing. He comes out, finds and solves the problem very quickly, (a small plumbing fitting that needs replacement). So, while the manufacturer apparently covers labor, seems like the $159 I was originally asked to pay is just additional $$$ to Creative Energy for what turned out to be a nominally priced part. And, two more weeks of unnecessary leakage, thanks to it not having been properly diagnosed and fixed to begin with. Too much hassle, nonsense, and nickle-and-diming for a $20K high-end hot tub purchase. These folks are great when you buy from them, but will hide behind the manufacturer when things go wrong and forget that you are also their customer. At their mercy until the warranty runs out, but buyer beware. read more

I bought a spa in December. Angela, the sales person that helped us was very supporting in getting us on the schedule for deliver before Christmas so our extended family could enjoy it for the holidays. I have now had the spa for 6 months and from time to time had some questions for Angela who was extremely accommodating. Recently I was having some trouble and she was helping me diagnose over the phone walking me through the steps. Having gone through all the steps she suggested my salt cartridge may be faulty and had me try another (I bought a 3-pack from Creative Energy). With a few more steps everything was working. In the spirit of good customer service she suggested I return the cartridge for a replacement. Seems reasonable until my wife ran into Michelle the manager. Let's just say from someone that spent nearly $20,000 on a spa rude we be a kind characterization. From the minute my wife explained why we were returning the cartridge to the phone call I received I would suggest you stay far away. Angela was fantastic. There scheduler was super helpful. Came out for service call. Our hot tub was leaking and not working. We knew that rats had done the damage. Creative energy could not find a leak, they basically just looked at hot tub and said we can't fix it. The charged us $222 for a service call. They did absolutely nothing. I understand that we should pay something for a service call, but $222 for 20 minutes to say they could not do anything. That is poor service. Also considering we have used them for many years for parts and maintenance. Guess client loyalty makes no difference. read more

We bought a new spa to replace an old broken spa. While it took nearly a year for the spa to be delivered, this was a supply chain issue and Creative Energy was clear about what to expect. On delivery day, a team of four showed up and did an excellent job job removing the old water logged spa from which meant moving it upstairs from the back of the house to the front. They moved the new spa into place and set it up expertly. There was an issue where we needed to upgrade our 230 volt power supply and the install team lead recommended an electrician who was able to complete the work that night! We purchased our hot tub spa last summer and due to the pandemic manufacturing took longer than usual. However, Creative Energy kept us updated. We used the electrician recommended by our salesman. The installation went well and we love our spa. At the same time, we decided to get a fire pit. Installation for that was also great. We love our backyard oasis. I hate to give Creative Energy an overall combined rating because their wood-burning stove installer, Alfred, was very knowledgeable, thorough, and professional. I rate him a 5/5. I rate the billing auditor(manager) 0/5 because she attempted to change the final sales order contract. AFTER our wood-burning stove was INSTALLED, I received a call from Creative Energy stating that we owed an additional $442.03 on the stove. They said that salesman charged us for discontinued model and that we received a newer stove instead. The company wanted us to pay for their mistake! Knowing our consumer rights and what was written in the CONTRACT, we refused to pay additional money and filed complaints with the California Contractors State License Board and the Consumer Protection Civil Unit under the Contra Costa district attorney's office. We hope, in the future, that Creative Energy will improve on their billing process thereby saving others from stress and aggravation. Otherwise, we're happy with our purchase. read more

My family recently purchased a hot tub spa through Creative Energy in Concord and could not be more pleased with their level of customer service from start to finish. I had reached out to several companies before calling Creative Energy and the difference was night and day. Bonnee was amazing at educating me about various spa builds and really worked with me to find something that fit our budget and site specifications. She was very responsive to all my follow up questions and answered at length. She even offered to speak to our neighbor who was concerned about any possible noise factor from the unit (which there will not be). After reading several consumer articles about how to buy a hot tub, I went to Creative Energy in Concord. I had heard that wait times were close to six months due to residual supply chain issues. The door said that an appointment was preferred, but I didn't have one. Patrick greeted me, listened to my questions and showed me a couple of tubs that would meet my needs. They had one in stock so I went with that one. The next step is a site review. John came out and took a look at what I was building and pronounced everything appropriate. Then he said they had another tub in Concord that would also meet my requirements, it's just the interior color was different than the one in San Mateo. I actually preferred the one in Concord. Delivery was scheduled for two weeks. Just before they arrived, to my horror, I discovered that the guys working on my house had stacked up a huge pile of scrap wood where they had to wheel the tub through. I was freaking out, running around trying to get the wood moved out of the way, mad as hell at my contractor. They guys got there, I apologized and they said "No problem, we can get it through here". And they did. They recommended two electricians to do the actual hook up. The guy I used was very professional, efficient and filled the tub up with the chemicals. They seemed honest, but they would not honor the quote they gave me despite my calling their sales person and asking him if I needed to put down a deposit and he told me "No, as long as you put down a deposit before the end of the year we can do it for that quoted price." When I called today the salesman said it was his fault because he didn't know prices would go up so much in a short period of time, but the best he could do would be $1,050 more than the quoted price. Please do yourself a favor and look for hot tubs any other place than here. I've been waiting on my architectural plans that just came in and now I have to find another hot tub and get new specifications for the engineer Because I couldn't rely on the word of their salesman. read more
